Before you go to Banner – University Medical Center, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Tucson emergency room think.
Desiree Bernal⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI have to say the staff at this place are amazing. My nurse Molly was so attentive and made me smile and laugh even though I feeling so under the weather. Tod the department tech was such a great person and had a wonderful personality. I had a positive experience and am so grateful Alex Molina⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI will speak about my personal experience. The staff is attentive, professional and caring. I had surgery at this hospital, and have had to go a couple times to the er. Every single time I get treated with care, they are detail oriented about everything, extremely clean facility. Hands down the best hospital there is in Tucson.Chelsey Parker⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI went to the ER on grant twice and waited over 5 hours to be seen. I came here with pain from a rare nerve pain disease. They got me in a room within 20 min. The doctors and nurses were very caring. My doctor Gary was quick to research my diagnosis and gave me some medicine for me to get some relief. The receptionist was also very welcoming and friendly.Avai d’AmicoDon’t waste your time or endanger your family by bringing them to Banner. Primary care referred us to ER to get a CT scan immediately, for suspected internal bleeding in the patient’s head. After waiting 12 hours, we were told we wouldn’t be seen, after the triage nurse only took blood pressure and temperature. They didn’t scan the head at all. Went to another ER and got treated after only a few hours. Going to a different ER could save a life. Don’t even try Banner.LaurenDr.Cubby Pierre is highly unprofessional & condescending. I took my boyfriend to the ER after his accident. We were there for a long time, at least 5 hours. When my boyfriend (the patient) was in the restroom, I expressed that we had asked for a CT to never have heard back to the request. He laughs in my face and says “uhhh were not gonna do that”. I ask “why not? At Bisbee Copper Queen Emergency they did the CT scan for me when facing abdominal pain” He cuts me off smugly saying “that’s nice”. I said at the very least can we get a Dr’s note & a prescription for his Fracture so we can get out of there. He rudely says “a prescription for what?” I said “at the very least for Ibuprofen, he has a fracture”. He wasnt even going to give any pain medication to a patient with a fracture in his hand!! Like my boyfriend is in visible pain & this Dr is so unprofessional he cant offer the bare minimum service. At this point I express to Dr. Pierre that he is making me uncomfortable. He keeps cutting me off, and despite him seeing my frustration & anxiety building he keeps probing me with his rude comments. When I express that his behavior is making me uncomfortable he keeps shrugging and playing dumb “oh really how? How am i making you uncomfortable? Im not doing anything.” I expressed he was “gaslighting me and talking to me a condescending tone.” He already knew he was doing this, he just felt it was necessary to power trip and make me feel as though I dont know what I am talking about. He then says “I dont need you here, I need the patient. I can call security.” Literally threatening to kick me out for asking him questions in concern to my boyfriend & his treatment. I told him I had driven my boyfriend there & I am his emotional support hence why I am there, at this point I am upset that he is using scare tactics to make me unconformtable & unwelcomed. Keep in mind this is when it is only him & I in the treatment room. So he is taking advantage of the fact that I have no one else there hearing him disrespect me in our conversation. I ask him “Is this how you’d treat your other patients in the facility? This is wrong”. He smugly says ” I call security on people all of the time”, reinforcing the threat that I am unwelcome, despite needing answers for this medical trauma. I expressed that I no longer think this conversation is productive, & I myself am trying to leave the E.R. so if he could proceed with his paperwork we could leave already. He finally goes to submit the paperwork. When he comes back into the room, my boyfriend is there now. Dr.Pierre is like Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. He just made me feel so small & insignificant with my medical concerns and questions. He dismissed and demeaned my exisistence. Now that he was talking to my boyfriend (who had no knowledge of the incidence that just occurred), Dr.Pierre had switched his whole demeanor. Now he was “friendly”, and being overly nice to my boyfriend (acting like nothing had just occurred between him & I). He was giving him the paperwork, his prescription, even explaining why he opted out of the CT scan (which sounded more like an excuse). Perhaps when I had asked the same questions in the first place, he could have used a professional approach to answer my questions and concerns & it would have de-escalated the entire situation. Dr. Pierre was extremely condescending, unprofessional, & unhelpful. If you’re a healthcare professional and can see that someone is having an anxiety attack, then you should not be probing the situation and making them feel worse for asking valid questions. I highly suggest going to a different E.R that will be cleaner, faster, & offer more efficient services.markiss2002⭐️⭐️People sick throwing up in the editing room and they were there hours before me. 6 and a 1/2 hour wait without being seen. Only gave 2 stars cause they said they were short staffed.Ax ManIF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR LOVED ONE DON’T COME HERE. The first time we went there we waited 5 hours to be seen and after a misdiagnosis and wrong prescriptions we had to go back the next day. Again we waited 5 hours until I asked to speak to the charge nurse. After waiting 30 more mins while my loved one was crying in pain, even before we got to the hospital, the charge nurse spoke to us. After explaining the situation and noticing this “charge nurse” and the other nurse with her role their eyes they told us none of it mattered and we had to wait. “there are people who have waited longer than you” which I replied add up the time and misdiagnosis from yesterday and the time today and we’ve been here longer. After that there was only one tone from her and that was “I don’t care you have to wait.” At that time there was only one person ahead of us, then after waiting another hour we found out that there were now 6 people ahead. When I asked for a reason I wasn’t given one. We had enough and went to ST. JOSEPH’S and were met with a great deal more respect and understanding and a correct diagnosis.Jorge MirandaHorrible staff horrible nurses, waiting time more that 5 hours definitely never coming back to this placeChristopher Roberts⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Best E.D. in Tucson by far.Ms Stella FayVery disappointed in Banner UMC-ER; recently I had to go here because of severe pain, and spasms associated with MS. The ER was completely full. I was told that I would not be seen for at least six hours. It got even worse for those who came in after I did. Is this situation representative of a new standard of care at Banner ER? Don’t go here after 9:00pm. I just went home and suffered, next time I’ll try TMC!Keith Gorski⭐️⭐️⭐️I was waiting for 3 hours to be seen. Got called into the back room. I told the nurse I need to be laying down or I will vomit. She said I have to sit down for the IV. I asked if I needed one. She said yes. My wife asked if I could Lay down. She said a bed would not be available for 5 minutes. They lead us out to the waiting room. I was waiting for 1 hour until I told a radiologist calling the 6th patient after I was pushed out of the back room. I told the guy what is happening and stated if I’m not seen in the next 20 minutes, to call an ambulance to take me to another ER. I got a room in 2 minutes. Then I was treated with respect.Julia OsobampoStaff was rude. Translators over the phone cut off. A lot of miscommunication.Lindsay SandsWent to the ER hemmoraging out of my uterus and they had me wait 5 hours only to tell me it would be another 7 hour wait. 9 tampons every hour for 8 days. They didn’t want to help. In front of the staff and security gaurds I told them I would slit my wrists to get help. And they watched me pull a pen out and go for my wrist to jab it into. They did. Nothing but shrug.Julissa J.B.⭐️⭐️⭐️The staff, nurse, and doctors were very nice. The only thing is the wait to actually get seen was long almost 2 hrs. Service was goodMary Warmouth⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedCurtious, clean, caring, efficient. Thank youLazy Gecko Sailing & Adventures⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis ER has it going on. I was traveling across country, I needed to be seen so I stopped. I checked in, within minutes three nurses took my vitals and asked me about my symptoms. Like they actually did care. Then I was immediately taken in for an IV and blood draw. IV was done perfectly (I get seen often). Then right to my room where the staff was attentive, informative and complete. I was visited by more than one Dr. I was in at 7 and out by 9 and that included multiple tests. I wish all ERs were ran like this one.melissa KluckLet’s just say I waited a total of 10 hours!! Yes you read that correctly…10 hours!! Will never go there againRebecca CWait time was 5 hours before being admitted to a room. Instead of administering medication through iv which was already set up in my arm, I was given a pill to swallow for nausea, no pain medication was administered only a topical cream. Banner has some of the worst hospitals, but this Tucson location is the worst.Ellen B⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHad excruciating abdominal pain– 10 out of 10. Had waited 3 hours at TMC ED without being allowed to see a doctor or get any pain meds (though they collected my $200 right away). Left and went to UMC and was admitted and helped as soon as I got there. CT scan UMC did that night showed a serious medical problem. Next time I will go to UMC ER first!Madison Ann⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff was super friendly and informative for the duration of my visit in the emergency area. Everything was explained thoroughly and the staff really seemed to know what the best options were for my situation.
