Before you go to Barnes Jewish Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this St. Louis emergency room think.
Susan JonesThe parking garage was full so we had to park in the Children’s Garage and walk to the Adult ER. My son waited over an hour for triage. That is when they record your arrival. So I guess the hour plus prior to that didn’t happen. I checked about four hours in and was told the longest wait of the evening had been six hours. After six hours I checked again. I was told the longest wait was over seven. I find this a very peculiar way to inform people of how long their wait will be. So over six hours in (from triage) and still waiting.Garry WilsonUsually they provide really good service—but only after a ridiculous wait time–and just recently I encountered a very UNPROFESSIONAL nurse . hELLA aMATEURE NITE—not to Sure I will return there. Very Unhappy and Dissatisfied.rex romeSat in emergency room from6pm untill after midnight, the nurse who was taking care of my stepfather was not informative, seemed bothered when being asked a question, waiting for a bed took so long ,this is awful, parking isnt very good, security staff is rude as hell.Cafateria stall is rude also, food look very Unappetizing dried out, looked like it was left under the heat lamps toooo long.Christine DicusIf I could give this a zero I would. Waited over 12 hours for the doctor to give us results of tests completed when we first got here. No communication what so ever with any of the staff even after repeated requests.Mark JonesI took my mom to the ER after getting an x-ray. She was told that she was a high priority and that was over 3 hours ago. She was told to go to Barnes because she probably needs surgery. We would of been better off going somewhere else. Don’t go to Barnes go anywhere else.Rebecca YelichIf you have an actual emergency, and are capable of going (or taking your loved one) elsewhere, please do so. Wait times, overall care, and state of cleanliness, are all appalling. Afterwards, I had many friends state that they’d never go there, and that they risk driving to any County hospital when there’s a problem. I feel terrible for City residents with no other decent options.Rachel JohnsDrive to St. Mary’s or DePaul if you actually want to be seen and treated at all. BJC is slow and staff have zero bedside manner.fu ufTook them almost 12hrs to do a few x-rays and a CT scan.!!!! Never again. B It is primarily a research hospital where poor inner-city citizens are standardised lab rats.Lynetta JonesVery poor care. I passed out in the emergency room restroom, hit my head on the sink before hitting the floor. I had to demand that this documentation was put in my discharge papers. I didnt get treated for my fall. Im in more pain now than i was when i went in for dehydration. There was no concern about my fall injurys. Im so dissatisfied. I had to practically beg for tylenol. So dissappointed with Barnes Hospital. And here i lay in pain.Hassan SuleimanWorst hospital I have went to i went for help and came home even sicker the staff doesn’t care they move how they want to move even tho you told these ppl i have work in few hours after waiting for 4 hoursMz. St.LouisMy room was not clean I asked for my room to be clean and they never cleaned it. They expose me to hazardous materials with other peoples blood and other fluids . I woke itching very bad on my face and neck . The pillow had other people’s blood and other stains on it. I asked for clean towels to wash the germs off my face and neck and Benadryl for the itching! Vomit stayed on the floor the entire time! They put a dirty bed pan on the sink! Trash was already on the floor! No is taking responsibility for the incident to make it right with me. I don’t know what all they exposed me to because I was sick for some time after that.Brandi Skinner⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWent there yesterday with my husband who has a spinal cord compression. I’m a small town girl but Barnes is absolutely my first choice (I’m a home health nurse in Rolla and get the good, the bad, and the ugly about STL and Springfield). I had never experienced a big city hospital’s ER first-hand and was absolutely aghast about how many people were in the waiting room. Registration took our information promptly and within about 15 minutes we were w/ a triage nurse. My nursing eyes saw a lot of things there and I’d say less than 50% were true emergencies. People, if it can be seen in a walk in clinic, be seen in a walk in clinic; don’t overflow the ER with nonsense-it just makes it bad for everyone, including yourself. They triage and those deemed true emergencies are going to be seen first. So if it is something that could be dealt with in-clinic, you’re going to have those huge wait times. Anyway, the nurse we had was wonderful and chipper despite having worked a full day. At least 3 doctors came into our room and they promptly got everything they needed (blood, urine, x-ray, ultrasound). Someone called this insurance bundling and I can see where they are coming from, but as a nurse myself, I was extremely appreciative of how thorough they were. We were in the room for about 90 min and were transferred to observation. I thought they did fantastic.Aaron SnivelyAbsolutely horrible place to ever be. Terrible service. Everyone hates their job. Waited hours and hours for any kind of medical help. Even then nothing was solved. Please do not ever go to this facility for medical care. A complete embarrassment to the medical community.J Dunlap⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedSo my dog got her foot stuck under a metal door in the process of freeing her she bit me several times in my left hand… THE STAFF WAS TREMENDOUS they spoke to me in a comforting manner and treated me like i mattered… the injury was very traumatic… i could not imagine there is anywhere that would have treated me better… if i could give 10 i would… thank you ER STAFF David WiltThis hospital ER is broke. Took my wofe who was asked by optomologist to go to ER to be met by an retina specialist due to urgent nature of issue. Waited over 4 hours in a chaotic waiting room with nowhere to sit – stood the entire time. Still waiting at time of review- would never come here again given an option.Lisa WaltonSeems like there’s only one doctor or nurse on duty. Just ridiculous to be here long enough to watch the waiting room fill up thin out then fill again. Jokes on them I’ve only been around someone with pneumonia.Viyu RojasIf I could I would rate a the place a zero!!! I wast at the ER for 7 hours and didnt get the help my mother needed spent 5 hours waiting until they took her to get some blood work done two hours later shes still in the waiting room with saver pain. Had to take my mother home with pain seeing that people warnt getting help taken to another room to wait really bothers me what does ER stand for. Known for the best hospital for its medical and dont have enough staff to help the people out they really have to get more people.Sierra RoseWe had to wait there for 9 hours before they even ordered the surgery. They were completely understaffed and the one doctor that they did have, disappeared for HOURS and left the nurses just scrambling and trying to figure out what to do. Additionally, the security there is terrible. I left a few times to get some air or go to the vending machine, and since I had already walked through once, I didn’t have to go through the metal detector again. I wasn’t doing anything I shouldn’t been doing, but that just didn’t sit well with me. What if someone went out to their car and got a gun or drugs or something else they shouldn’t and brought it into the hospital? That’s a liability and need to seriously reconsidered. Now he is in a normal room in a different part of the hospital, but the Emergency Department is one big joke.Zehra SesticVery rude personal they don’t treat patients right worst hospital ever I came here from out of town and I didn’t get any proper serviceBridget ErchienTotally WORST EVERStephanie YahyaHorrible staff, horrible service never go here. Came by ambulance waited 4 hours to be seen and walked out because I needed to lay downB. V.Came in after vomiting blood on and off for 2 hours. Was in extreme amounts of pain, and it was a struggle even staying coherent. After waiting an hour, I was blessed with a room and a bed, then I was told my nurse would be right back with some medicine to calm my stomach and help my pain. Didn’t receive any medicine for 2+ hours. Was not provided any drink, or any more medication. Was left alone again for about an hour, before a doctor came in to see me. He told me they’d do some blood tests after I told him I’d had a history of ulcers, and quote on quote said, “but from one healthy person to another, maybe a tummy ache is just a tummy ache.” Was left alone again for 2 hours, and a nurse finally came back to see me and said I didn’t need any blood tests. Was left alone for another hour before being released. Found out about a month later from a doctor not associated with this garbage that I most likely have Ulcerative Colitis. Thanks to Barnes, I’m stick with an outrageous bill for pathetic care. I’d have preferred digging my grave than wasting my time here.CarmeLita MorrisI came in today at 12:29pm and it’s now 3:26pm and i’ve still have yet to see anyone. This is ridiculous. You go to restaurants and get out faster than this…. Emergency department??????? They move like it’s just a regular routine not an emergency….. Waiting and waiting and waiting.Margie MayerWaited 8-9 hrs to be treated in the Emergency Room worst experience I had in a long time. I will never go there again could have died from waiting. Dr said we look at your blood test and it was neg. So they just let me sit there in the waiting room. Reminds me of City Hospital back in the day. They did bring food out for people waiting never seen that before. One lady said I came here to get antibiotics. Another said oh it must be the first of the month everybody got there check and so they go to Emergency Room. The whole waiting room was full and the nurse said its like that everyday. Horrible experience.Kenny LeMay9 hours in the ER and all they did was verify the diagnosis from the other hospital. Left with no answers and still in pain.Master⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER Recommended9/15/2018 went to the emergency room bad upper back pain that went from the back to the left front of my body and I felt like I was burning inside. Arrived at the emergency room had to check in pass security. Security was nothing but kind and very friendly. Entered the emergency room it was very clean because those who junk up and trash the emergency room and then blog about how nasty it was had not arrived yet. LOL. I was greeted by this Asian woman very professional and very welcoming. Reception took my info 10 minutes later a nurse took more info. 10 minutes later the same nice Asian lady took me to a room in the back. From the time I entered the emergency room I felt nothing but respect and concern to get me the help I needed. Once in the back I was there about twenty minutes Dr. Stickles came in spoke to me and asked me what bought me there he was very friendly very professional and very concerned for me as a patient. The other staff people in the back where very professional as they worked everyone had a pleasant smile. After Dr. Stickles left about 20 minutes later Nurse David came in took blood etc. He was very nice, respectful, showed concern very helpful and very professional I was there for more than 4 hours and it was ok because I was in good Godly hands “AND” I understood others were in need to see the doctor as well. The point I am making is people are so quick to judge others and not see the damn log hanging from their own eyes of faults. Barnes-Jewish emergency is a great hospital and I do understand you have those days not just in hospitals but in everyday life where things just go sideways. I recommend Barnes-Jewish emergency room. I am black and I was helped by white people who treated me as a patient in need not as a color or a bad habit. And I checked in with welfare insurance not some well-known high price private insurance. It’s always best to check yourself before you are so quick to say harsh things. Its always easier to see bad verses good in any situations. If you find that the services are not up to your standard one things you are left with to do. Leave and find a more perfect place to get your emergency need. Understand this, when I arrived it was about twenty people in the emergency room and it was before noon yet. Sometimes this makes a different and also different things can prevent one from receiving the fast/quick services they think they should receive. If you feel like you are dying don’t call 911 or go to Barnes-Jewish emergency room because you may have to wait in line behind the seven people who arrived before you that feel like they are dying too. Call whatever deity you believe in and request your favorite undertaker or you can just simple go to another hospital or wait and learn to be patient. Sometimes there are more people sick and in pain then there are beds available in the back and Jesus is not the great physician on staff so be patience with the doctor on staff it maybe just that one doctor. So waiting maybe the only option you have and because you have a long wait doesn’t mean the nurses and doctors don’t care. Just remember pray, have much patience and keep those who serve us in prayer and I hope all of you who have had bad experiences at any emergency room find the comfort you so need or needed.Dan CeurvorstHorrible…told the abulance that I wanted to go to SSM….dropped me off there after a seizure. Waited in the waiting room for over 2 hours while some drug addicts got some free food and drinks. Was not waited on until I had a second seizure in the waiting room; and they cut my front tooth in half and cracked my left canine in half…worthless…wish I could give less than 1 star.John Love⭐️⭐️Is a long wait, but they got me in immediately, but then now medication wont mail for past 12 years, has to be re prescribed, i give this place 4 stars for trying, and their problems arnt their fault nor the fault most their patients. Now im locked up 1500 unit as i type this, waiting for court by some the most pessimistic staff and doctors i have ever known, i worry ill be here for more than 1 year. The doctors are all pessimistic and the lawyer and attorney is just as good as a soup sandwhich, im trapped here, a victim my own mind, at the expense of doctors who dont care and dont like me, i need Senator Claire McKaskill’s help getting out! Consider sueing Big Barnes when you get out the psychiatric ward, but is safer this wing than PSC generally, but PSC has better doctors i like best! Thoughts to go to psychiatric Sign to be in psychiatric ward again, number of time, number during same trip has been 2, but is wrongfully believed to be 7.Ayelet SIf I could give zero stars I would. Arrived in an ambulance w chest pain and shortness of breath with a history of blood clots. They took my blood pressure and sat me down for 5+ hours with nothing but a blanket. I ended up leaving and going to a different hospital. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone drops dead in that waiting room from something completely preventable.Lusanna DonaldsonThis place is ridiculous!!! 6 hrs of waiting and no one can tell us ANYTHING even speaking with the so called charge nurse ” Mouser”. Miscommunication is very evident in this hospital! Horrible…. If you can avoid coming here please do!!! Make this place your very last option!felecia lewisWorst ER I’ve ever been to! My girlfriend (100% Deaf) went to ER. Before I got there, they had her in tears. She told the nurses she was Deaf and didn’t understand what they were saying but they kept talking to her anyway and got frustrated with her when she didn’t respond to questions she didn’t know she was being asked! Someone else in ER waiting room saw she was freezing and helped her, not the hospital staff. Once in a room she used the nurse call button twice with no response. When I got there (45min drive from my work) I found the nurses did “try” to respond to her through the speaker even though she Deaf! We saw the Dr oncefor about 2mi. in a 7+ hour vist with no questions answered! And yet not once was she offered interpreter!Sofia AravosisI came in with serious problems and under the advice of my primary physician and specialist and they ran no tests and after 30 min was essentially told in no uncertain terms that I was wasting their time and to essentially f*** off and not come back. Its been an hour since they told me to wait for discharge papers…. Still sitting here…Sandy Roth4/29/19 – went to Barnes Jewish ER. Waited 8 hours. Left. This is not the place to go if you want to emergency care.UDKM SSLBGo anywhere but here. Came in a ambulance with server abdominal pain, an shortness of breathe (1145am). It was packed with potential patients. An when I say potential I mean the patients that weren’t seen by triage yet. I wasn’t checked in until 120pm. Then, thats when they started what I would describe as insurance billing bundling. They got blood work, a urine sample, chest x-ray, CT scan with dye, ultrasound in and out. I disnt get put into a room until 8pm. After all of unnecessary the testing they sent me home. Still in pain. The nurse wouldn’t come when I called them to help me go to the bathroom, after waiting 20 mins after I called for them, my husband helped me unplug myself from the machines and go to the bathroom. I’m just flabbergasted at the whole experience. I didn’t get discharged to 2 a.m. in the morning, and again they could not tell me what was wrong with me the discharge nurse just chalked it up to non related condition I had, which gave them motive to do all the unnecessary tests on me in the first place. My husband asked her several times so what do you think the cause of her severe abdominal pain and shortness of breath is, she looked like a deer in headlights because she didn’t have an answer and she referred us to the discharge paperwork. The doctor that seen me gave me a prescription this morning I want to go fill the prescription I cannot get the prescription as of now at 5:52 p.m. July 13th 2018 because the doctor needs to call the pharmacy so they can get his ETI, number. They have been trying all day to reach this doctor just for this. Smh. When I call then to tell then this, they play phone tag within the ER referring different nurses. One of them took my information but I guarantee I’m going to have to call back and tell them again to call the Pharmacy so my prescription can be filled. I’m going to be a shyt Creek in pain, and I might even have to go to urgent care. Like I said I am just gravelly appalled at the service of this emergency room and the Discord of how it is ran. So my opinion to ANYONE and everyone, if you want dont want to be seen, an poked and prodded to waste your time and increase your bill, go somewhere else doesn’t matter how far.Matt WottowaThis place is disgusting and with a 9 hour wait is the worst hospital I have ever been to!!Kyle SchuettenbergThis place is absolute trash. Its dirty. You have to pay for parking, even for the ER and they have no staff. Im currently here and ive been in the waiting room for 6 hours and im no closer to answers. Only reason i even came here was bc i was in so much pain i didnt think id make it anywhere else.Dominique HollwellI sat in this hospital for 12 hours for a assist under my lip. With no food or anything to drink. Someone needs to speak upDavid RobinsonThere is no justification to make anyone wait 5 HOURSGriffin Lterrible hospitalPaul Glass⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Awesomeness4c Hippywow is all i can saymalachi nobleCome to die.
