Bayhealth Emergency Center Reviews

Before you go to Bayhealth Emergency Center, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Smyrna emergency room think.

Ayonna Williams⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI took my 2 week old here yesterday. I read the reviews before taking him and was pretty skeptical because of his young age but this was the closest hospital to me and I wanted him checked out asap. Front desk staff was very friendly. I got called back the moment I got finished with registration. Once back I was greeted by a friendly nurse followed by a very nice doctor. My son was quickly diagnosed and he’s doing a lot better. I am happy with this hospitalKrystal Ali Worst place ever should of just stayed home in pain… I have a chronic kidney disease but according to the dr just because I have kidney stones in the kidney I shouldn’t be in pain… he thinks there’s something wrong with my back. Over itdana bussey⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy Husband was seen in the Emergency Room on Thursday, January 24, 2019. From the time we waked in the door to the time we exited, our experience was incredible!! The person that checked us in was pleasant and was more than willing to help me get my husband registered, since he was not able to talk. The Triage Nurse helped us ensure that we had a complete listing of his current medications and our wait time was minimal. The highlight of this visit was our encounter with Alexandra Pease, PA-C. Alexandra treated my husband as if he was her family member. She promptly diagnosed him and made sure that he was always informed regarding her plan of care. Her bedside manner is to be commended!! Towards the end of my Husband’s visit, when it was determined that he would not need to be admitted, Alexandra was concerned that I would not have time to get his prescriptions filled (since it was 8:30pm an the Pharmacy closed at 9pm) so before she discharged him, she quickly prepared his prescriptions so that I could run to the pharmacy while he was being prepared for discharge. My Husband is at home recovering and I am so thankful for the team at the Smyrna Bayhealth ER. We are so fortunate to have such a caring team of professionals providing care in our community!! Thank YOU!!!Tiffanie Reed I was seen and the staff seemed to have an issue with my 1 year old having to come with me although he stayed in his car seat. I was asked numerous times if I had a babysitter and one asked where his father was. I could hear the nurses outside my door making comments about my child crying when we had been there hours. My husband is with the army out of state and I thought they would understand that. My doctor said my prescription was sent over, it wasn’t. I wasn’t even told if my baby (I’m pregnant) had a heartbeat after i waited for the ultrasound tech to arrive for 45 mins. Never going here again, I’ve never been so hurt and humiliated at any hospital or ER for being a mother.I’m Tired I was sent here by a doctor for an issue causing me almost unbearable pain. They made me wait 5 hours in an uncomfortable chair that only made my pain worse, then when I finally was seen they started almost immediately trying to rush me out the door. They performed the same test I had done earlier in the day by the doctor who sent me there, and then prescribed me a stronger dosage of an over the counter medication that I had already been taking and wasn’t helping. They discharged me having wasted my time and in worse pain than when I arrived. This isn’t my first time having an experience like that there, but it will be my last.Kaitlyn Jurewicz⭐️⭐️Was taken here after a car crash. Although I was taken care of in a professional manner, I was told I was healthy enough to go to work the next day even though I felt that was not accurate. Ended up having to leave work early the next day.Eric Lefty Ive been here twice and both times it took over 2 hours just to get a room. Im currently sitting here now in the waiting room for a tooth abscess that is extremely painful and has the entire side of my face swollen. Ive been here for over 2 and a half hours. I wouldve been better walking to Dover Hospital. Unless you like spending the whole day in a waiting room, avoid this place. If I got ran over in the parking lot I’d ask someone to take me somewhere else. Never again.Brittany Ziolkowski The staff is completely rude and unprofessional . The doctors look like they are half asleep & you can’t understand them . Just a way for someone to act any way they want and still be a money maker !David Carliles⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedFrom reading the other reviews, I feel like I went to a totally different place lol. But yeah the girls at the front, or the techs doing our vitals arent exactly the nicest, and sometimes a lil rude. However this past year one of their doctors and his nursing team saved my life TWICE. I don’t Kno what the other doctors are like, but I Kno I wouldn’t be here without them.Joshua Peterson Today my 4 year old daughter had to get a cavity filled so the dentist numbed her gums. A little bit later her mother sent me a picture of our daughters face and it’s swollen along with her lip and only getting worse. Almost like she’s having an allergic reaction to the numbing agent. So I told her to take her to the walk-in but unfortunately they were closed so she took her here. She called me back a few minutes later and said that the doctor looked at our daughters face and said she was fine and to put ice on it. He didn’t even take into consideration that she could be having an allergic reaction. He didn’t even say go ahead and give her Benadryl. He said “nope, she doesn’t need it, put ice on it”. Wish I was there because I definitely would’ve given him a piece of my mind. She will be going somewhere else to be checked out by a doctor that doesn’t slack off at their job and actually cares about their patients. He is a poor excuse for a doctor and this is a poor excuse of an emergency center. I will be doing what I can to get a hold of someone higher up to get this place looked at because I’m obviously not the only one who has had an issue with these so called “doctors”!Joe Spina Didn’t care for the place. One will get better results from a first aid kit. Ask the doctor what the problem is and he tells me what he THINKS it is then prescribed pain killers without knowing what he’s treating you for. Never once looked at the injury, just felt the area and made a guess. RN staff is, for the most part, helpful.. The doctor does not like to be questioned or challenged on his opinion. I don’t need an opinion, I need to know exactly what the problem is. If he can’t figure out what the problem is send the patient someplace where they can figure out what the problem is instead of telling you to go home and suffer a couple more days, take lots of painkillers, then make your own phone calls to try to get proper treatment. The doctor was quick to discharge a patient who was obviously in severe pain and not able to walk or get off the bed. However a staff member had no problem coming in the room asking for a $120 copay. After confronting the doctor and being adamant about getting proper care, the patient was finally transferred to a local hospital where it was found there was a major issue and necessary to keep the patient for several days. So there you have it. Bottom line, this place is just another money maker for Bayhealth. They don’t really care if you get worse or better as long as you pay the bill. Such was the case with me. I can’t speak for others but I have no doubt this has happened many times before in this facility.Ebonie Taylor Wait time is entirely toooo long.Kat 5 I wish I went to St. Elsewhere or anywhere else.Carolyn King⭐️⭐️⭐️My husband fainted and was taken there by ambulance since the facility is only about 10 minutes from our home. He was seen right away and the doctor did a through examination, took x rays, and also took blood tests. X-rays came back right away but we had to wait for over two hours for blood work results. The attending nurse was a little too “laid back.” I asked her to clean up some scrapes that he had on knee from falling and she said “i’ll get to that. I need to focus on the other things first!”. I waited and then went out to the desk to remind her. She was chit chatting with someone else at the desk.. She came in a few minutes later. I also asked for a pillow and she said they didn’t have any cause they seemed to disappear. What emergency facility doesn’t keep a stock of pillows? This might seem trivial but it shows a lack of concern and competence. A man from housekeeping came in to remove trash. .After collecting the trash, he started asking us questions which we thought was inappropriate. He hung around for a few minutes longer talking and trying to get responses from us. He left after we non verbally let him know it was time for him to leave. Check out time was long too. When my husband was cleared to leave with the doctor. we had to wait for about 45 minutes for the paperwork. I again went to the front desk and they told me they were waiting for the printout??? Anyway, all ER’s have their issues, but I’ll think twice if i have to go there again. Had a long wait time experience at the Middletown ER in January for myself. My goal is to stay as healthy as possible to avoid ER rooms.Evetta Dennis Any other time, I would give them a 5. I have been here with my granddaughter since 6:30 pm it’s now 9:02 pm there was only 2 people in front of us. Now the waiting area is pack. I don’t want to give them a one star, tonight.Barb OK attempt number five at posting on this site it just boots you off all I’m gonna say is if you’re sick and if your person you’re with is sick and you like them don’t go there I was the only person in the waiting room when I got there there were two people in the back and three hours later I was still sitting there there was a young girl brought in by ambulance they sat her in the waiting room in a wheelchair after a while she got up and walked out she wasn’t in good shape at all my friend told the receptionist hey that sick girl brought in by ambulance walked out and their response was this is not a jail we can’t hold them after 3 hrs we left Also I did get taken for X-rays as soon as we got there by Mario Andretti I can’t say she wasn’t polite she was polite she just was fast as hell I can’t tell you everything because they’re going to boot me soon but don’t go there it’s less than one star but they don’t have less than one starDaniel Cole They assure you that they are within your ins. Network and they are BUT !!!!! THEY DON’T TELL YOU THAT THE DOCTORS, NURSES AND PROCEDURES ARE NOT IN YOUR NETWORK & THEY DON’T CALL AND GET PRECERTIFICATION FOR YOUR PROCEDURES. THE DOCTORS WE WERE BILLED BY HAD THEIR BILLING DONE IN FLORIDA. WE GOT HIT WITH SEVERAL ASTRONOMICAL BILLS FROM EVERYONE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FACILITY. IF I COULD GIVE LESS THAN ONE STAR I WOULD.Peter Max⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThey took good care of my family member, RN Alisson was the best. I need to update this review, I was here last Sunday with pain an severe nausea and vomiting due to kidneys stone and I would like to mention how proffessional with good attitude and wiiling to help patients nurse Sherry was , she did everything she could to make me feel better and stop the pain and vomit that I had,the doctor working with her was very nice person that cares about the patients. I really appreciate that,I went home sadly I had to come back the next day and another nurse took care of me, this time RN Eli, Eli is the best of the best, boy he cares about people health for real.Thats what I have to say for now. Sincerely FrankRalph Vurgich This place sucks. My wife couldn’t breathe and we waited 10 minutes and nothing. Had other bad experiences here. Went to Christiana in Middletown and was seen in 2 minutes. Much better care. Avoid Bay Health at all costs. It’s worth a drive to avoid this place.Andrew Angelo⭐️⭐️I’d sooner drive to Christiana Care in Newark than waste my time at this place.Paul Kallgren Absolutely horrible. I understand that with any emergency center, wait times are to be expected. My wife and I spent roughly 6 hours at this particular facility and in that period of time I can count on one hand how many times a nurse or doctor actually checked on my wife. My complaint with this organization is due to the fact that if my wife is in serious pain and it takes me four times to actually have a nurse or doctor come to the room, something is drastically wrong. The lack of care, was honestly pitiful.Ashley Trojanowski My infant was brought here for a head injury. The doctor initially denied that the baby even had a bump on his head, laughing as though I was being dramatic, and then after noting its slight existence, said it was nothing to worry about and suggested Tylenol if my infant was fussy. Four days later, I was growing concerned as nothing was improving about my baby’s state. Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington was recommended to me by a colleague. I took my baby there and within an hour, I learned that my baby was suffering from a skull fracture and then some. Obviously, Bayhealth was a huge letdown where it counts the most. I will never subject myself or my loved ones to their care again.Ms.VintageGypsyQueen Gonzalez⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy experience here was great the staff was sweet nurse was funny and awesome the doctor was amazing and professional jenn dawson The woman working at reception acts like someone just kicked her puppy. Smile! Greet people! You’re the first face these sick or injured people see when entering the building! If you’re unhappy with your job, go somewhere else. I’m also unhappy with the attitude i got when i asked what the estimated wait time was. I was dropped off, and needed to let my ride know roughly how long to expect to wait to come back. I was triaged however, and the nurse was able to tell me 2 and a half hours. Sad that the angry receptionist didnt have that info. After sitting there for 40 minutes, and seeing exactly 1 patient out of the 4 ahead of me, get taken back, i decided I’d rather suffer at home, alone.Alicia Hungerford Horrible nobodys being seen sick baby infection everywhere an absolutely noboys beong seen… I hope i die sitting in the waiting roomDonny Lawson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedEntire staff were polite and proffesional. Handled entire situation in a great timely manor while still helping with all questions and concerns.Amanda Pierce I have been “next” for more than 2 hours. It’s a packed house after 2 hours of no one new being seen and more coming. I am very disheartened and disappointed.Barry Reece Horrible I’ve been waiting here for almost 3 hrs and all they have done was take my blood pressure i know I’m not here for something life and death but I’m the only person here and I ask the nurse how much longer and she says when I feel like it never coming here again and I recommend everyone else do the same
