Before you go to Baystate Medical Center, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Springfield emergency room think.
Larry FlakesIt’s been 9 hours and NO ONE HAS DONE ANYTHING! You’re better off going to another hospital. They’ll let you die here. SERIOUSLY, don’t bring your family here.TriBetaWould give zero stars if rating scale allowed it. Staff was inhumane. Left after waiting 10 hours and 46 minutes without being seen. Pain did not matter to them. Was spoken to like I didn’t matter. Horrible and unspeakable waiting area conditions. They should be ashamed to call this a hospital.Jeysha Martinez Tabales⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe wait was long, but I left feeling a lot better than when I arrived. The nurses and doctors were really nice, friendly and kind. I needed blood transfusions and they explained me everything before and during doing it. Took me serious and fix the problem not loke others emergency i went that always told me that’s normal and just sent me on my way.MiKe LoCoWent in for a bad headache and when I got checked, they only looked at my ear. They discharged me with only some ear drops, but nothing for my headache.Steven StruthersStill waiting almost 8 hours and no end in site. Wife is weak and in extreme pain forced to sit endlessly. Still 5 plus people ahead of us. Truly the worst place to comeJenny NeufeldHonestly no stars. As much as I understand how busy an ER can be. The care here is awful. Waiting 6 hours in total was in extreme pain, did not get anything for my pain and left with pain. On top of that paying my bill was impossible. No one calls back, can never reach anyone and they can’t transfer you to any department. Had to pay 3 different places with 3 different numbers for 6 hours of waiting. Don’t go to ER here save yourself the aggravation.Tara THave been waiting over 13 hours in ER and still have not seen doctor for my elderly mother who is in pain. Staff is pleasant, however not enough beds to take in patients and we find this out only after asking. No communication to set expectations. Horrible experience.S DThis emergency room is eating your life.Vitaliy PeylykhCame here yesterday waited 10 hours to be put in a room. I ended up walking out. Not only is the waiting room nasty their was a Homeless person walking around begging for money for about 3 hours.DoftySalty⭐️⭐️⭐️The wait times can be ridiculous but the staff are nice and friendly. Staff was often going back and forth with others. Definitely frustrating but I can understand it. They did make sure I was taken care of.Rosa GarciaI wish I can give 0 stars . I went to the hospital and they didn’t do test on me . The doctor came to my room and tell me what I have verbally and that set . And gave me Tylenol that set and it didn’t fix me Nara GarberI’ll echo the sentiments of the person who said that if they could rate Baystate’s ER a zero, they would. My husband was brought in by ambulance after vertigo and nausea forced him to pull his car off the road, and when he tried to get a nurse’s attention after waiting in the ED for two hours to let someone know he was about to pass out, they put him in a wheelchair and rolled him into a hallway full of elderly people in wheelchairs who appeared to have been forgotten. He was only seen when he began to vomit so violently that everyone around him started to complain. He was sent home after they hooked him up to an IV and gave him prescriptions for two meds that at best would treat the symptoms but not the cause. In reality, one of the prescriptions was for an anti-anxiety medication (my husband does not suffer from and did not complain of anxiety) with SIDE EFFECTS OF DIZZINESS. In other words, the ER staff made no effort to diagnose the problem and gave him medication that exacerbated the problem. Fortunately, this week we were able to get his treatment sorted out at the VA, but every doctor we’ve spoken to expressed astonishment at what was prescribed and at the fact that the ER ran no tests on him. Everyone complains about the VA these days, but the treatment he received there was infinitely superior to the mishandling at Baystate, and since then, we’ve heard dozens more horror stories of neglect and worse at this ER. Baystate is a well funded hospital that is somehow able to innovate and expand while operating a completely understaffed and dysfunctional Emergency Department. The hospital needs to take a look at this mess and bring this department up to standard. I’ve seen better medical treatment at rural clinics in third world countries.Angela RiveraIf I could rate Baystate a zero I would. Five hours in the waiting room and we were still sitting in the waiting room. I was told there’s not enought beds for people being admitted so the ER gets backed up. Please tell me why there’s not enough rooms when Baystate owns half of Springfield. The poor woman next to us with a heart condition was still sitting there waiting too. No food all day. More unhealthy practices. We are lucky our insurance allows us to go to CT. I will be going to St. Fransis from now on. I feel bad for those stuck with Baystate. This is not the first time I’ve waited 5-8 hours. It’s EVERY time no matter what day or time it is. And, if you need a specialist from Baystate it’s atleast two months too. I’ve dealt with this place way to long and I’m DONE. I met two wonderful ladies in the waiting room. I really could go on…..like when I had a hernia and they had no Dr. to operate. Told me two months for the surgeon. I went to Holyoke and had surgery TWO days later. WE WALKED OUT AND WILL NOT BE BACK. We are going to the walk in clinic in CT where you get better service which is sad.Peter SlivkaWaited for six hours for ear infectionRonna NeidlingerWent by ambulance to take my boyfriend to the ER on February 5, got there around 5:30pm, he was having shortness of breath, tingling in his legs, couldn’t walk, thought he was having a heart attack or stroke. Finally got into triage, hooked him up to do an EKG, sent him to the waiting room and we waited for six hours! When I asked how much longer, they said it could be another five hrs! Omg, thank god he wasn’t having an actual heart attack or stroke! At 11:30pm called the cab, waited another hour and a half for that to arrive, got home at 1am! Never going to BAYSTATE AGAIN! Staff was rude and unprofessional, people were leaving and going to Mercy or Noble hospital…a man came in with a stab wound to his face, had a towel covering it, he waited two hrs and then let them know he was leaving, staff told him “Good Luck with that!” Omg!Evelyn DelectaveOn Sunday January 6 2019 I have been waiting in the 9 hours with high blood pressure and an infection. When ask to speak to the shift supervisor she said there can be 7 people in front of me depend on what they have. She got no leadership for this job. The 3/11 pca was making fun of me because I told her that I want to see the social worker about domestic violence.S Teehan⭐️⭐️⭐️The staff is clearly working on reducing the waiting time in the ER but either way try not to get injured during peak hours. Lots of gap time with no nurses but are helpful none the less. Extremely expensive as you can expect so only arrive if you’re 8 minutes away from dying.D⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedFor a true medical emergency the care was top notch. Procedure completed, life saved.Ilham MamedovSoon it will be 9 hours in ER and we are still waiting to get assigned a room to see a doctor!!! Don’t even bother yourself getting here. Go to Westfield or Mercy ER. In this time period we could possibly drive to Boston, get to see Dr. in any good Hospital and drive back … Update: After Almost 10 hours of waiting we got assigned a room and was visited by very nice Dr. who was able to address our health concerns. However I hope I never will have a need to go there again.Mike IkeSent here from urgent care cuz of large amont of blood in urine- been waiting for 4 hours- no food or drink- thinking bout going to mercyKristina VieiraThis is truly the worst ED I’ve ever been to. And thats saying alot since I was and had to deal with Military hospitals. Ive been in the waiting room since 8 pm. Its now 0150 AM. And still 5 people ahead of me and 20 people waiting to be moved up stairs. Who does this to people in need.Jacqueline LapriseCurrently waiting to be seen. It has been 10 hours.Rob WWorst ER, 6+hr wait to be seen. What is the point of an ER with wait times that long. Turn away people with the sniffles and see people with real issues.Taylor PedleyWaited hours with no communication and were not told when we arrived that some people had been waiting 6.5+ hours to be seen.Natalia PHorrible wait time. Been here over 7 hours and have YET to be seen. Staff shows no support or interest.Sandra ImbodyBeen sitting in this ER close 2 hours many people have come in behind us and have been called before us. We were told others had more severity I dont see where they are worse off but ok. My sister in law was sent here from urgent care with a call ahead big waste of time!! She was in a very bad car accident recently and has extreme head trauma. We sit here while she screams in pain from the headaches and cries because the pain is so bad, but doesn’t seem to phase the medical staff! This is ridiculous at least offer a tylenol or something. EMERGENCY ROOM AT BAYSTATE IS THE WORST!!Lo GarciaI was sent to the ER from urgent care, due to an abnormal EKG, chest pains, and shortness of breathe. The Doctor from urgent care contacted them and told them I was coming and should be seen right away. Of course that didn’t happen, waiting in the waiting room for over 2 hours. You would think someone who’s young with an irregular heart rate would be high priority as well but no it’s truly ashameTretazes BuchananThe nurse is very rude and the security officer is unprofessional and he’s also rude and following us and telling our businessRosalia LugoOne Doctor for hundreds of people. Very unethical.African _QueenWorst Er they never have enough staff to assist everyone, I hope they go out of business!! John L⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedSlow as a drunk snail, but will keep you alive.Derek MartinezSo slowVanelix(Translated by Google) I had gone the day before and my diagnosis was an overdose prescribed by my neurologist. They left me 2 hours in the waiting room having strong involuntary movements. I was passed on to other patients’ insistence and they left me in a wheelchair in a corner. I left and my record was changed saying that I went for nausea and vomiting. Everything to cover the lack of the neurologist.
