Before you go to Caldwell Memorial Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Lenoir emergency room think.
Amanda MooneyWill not go back to Caldwell & will never recommend. Last experience here was terrible to say the least. I recommend getting new staff that doesn’t scream at patientsGail HendersonPatients are not top priority. My mom is in the ICU and the lung doctor acts clueless. Right now we’re looking into a transferCourtney PollardIf I could rate this hospital in the negatives I absolutely would. My mother was admitted one night for mental health reasons. Not only was she not allowed to contact me, the hospital also refused to do so. I wake up to find her gone but all her belongings still at home. Hours later I found myself in the ER and no one would give me any information. Eventually they confirmed my mom was there and let me visit for an hour. When I left we both spoke to her nurse who told us a doctor would be in soon to speak with my mom and discharge her. By 6 PM I had not heard anything so I went back. I waited for another three hours before the head nurse finally explained everything to me. I was allowed to see my mom for a few minutes and discovered that the nurses had straight up LIED and put statements in that my mother NEVER said. We were then told that there must have been a mixup. Again told a doctor would come see her no later than the next morning. I was also assured that I would be contacted once things were sorted out. 12:30 the next day and no one had called. So I call the ER again and am told my mom is no longer there but they refused to tell me what happened. After a lot of frustration and yelling, they told me she’d been transferred but would only give me the hospital name. The nurses not only lied to both of us, they were extremely insensitive and cold towards me. DO NOT go here for any kind of mental health issues. They will not let you contact your family and are unbelievably unhelpful.Bj LorangerWas taken to the er after a fall, could not even walk, tremendous pain. Doctor uninterested. Sent me to X-Ray, said I had a “contusion” . I told him I could not walk, wasn’t even offered crutches. Told to check with my primary doctor in three days. Went to my primary doc, she ordered an MRI, I had a total proximal tear to my left hamstring. Was then sent to an orthopedic specialist in Charlotte who told me the tear was severe. The er doc gets a negative 100. This is the worst er I have seen. The doctor was disinterested and acted like he didn’t want to be there.Carrie SelfMy husband died less than 5 months ago at this hospital. He was very sick with sepsis but I had no idea he was dying. His doctor never informed me of anything. In fact when he died the doctor came into the waiting room and said “well he’s dead I did everything I could” but was extremely cold about it. Had no care or remorse that I had just became a widow at 28 years old. I will never forget the day he died but I will also never forget the doctor who I trusted to save and care for my husbands life and have absolutely no regard for what just occurred in the room that my husband took his last breath in. I will never return to this hospital and neither will our children.bushtown boyI was just waiting for 2hrs (a black man) then a (older white woman) walked in and they took her back before me. Now I was told by a family member that maybe they look at case maybe she was worse off than me then I told my family member maybe that’s true if there in a ambulance but she was not so I felt like that was racist and I left without an explanation and without seeing the Dr.Kevin KellerThere is no way to give a negative star rating or I would. This hospital needs to be closed down. Snowflake Queen & Fire King Joint ChannelIf there was a way to put negative 200 on here I would. For all the parents who have children under the age of 18 with severe mental health issues….. don’t bring them here for help. I brought my son here to get mental health help…and yeah. It was a waste of time. After going thru the magistrate to get papers for him to be treated here and sitting in the waiting room to be seen. A few minutes later get back to the room. We go thru registration when the doctor comes in. The doctor doesn’t stay in the room long enough to actually listen to the issues and understand that he needs actual help now. Then their caseworker come in and basically says…..”Since he isn’t 18 there is nothing they can really do for him here. But they can give me resources to get him the help he need.” It honestly made me want to scream at her….”So only way he can get help help here is if he were to snap hurts someone or himself?!” Your better off going to Catawba Valley or some other hospital that will actually do something for your child.Jacob & Barbara BartlettThis “hospital” is a joke & if i were dying i would risk driving the 35 minutes to grace in Morganton before the 7 minute drive to caldwell memorial of lanior! !!!BEWARE!!!JA AlexanderFor 40+ yrs….i can not stand anything about this place.. To many numerous instances to say. I would rather take my chances anywhere besides here.Kenneth HollifieldThe Staff here are rude as F$!%, except Nurse Kelly. She made my son laugh. But the other staff on third shift are rude, are disrespectful. I asked a nurse to get my sons his meds he needs and she basically waved me off. And said she had other more important patients. She has brown hair and glasses. I dont her name but everytime I have came here She has been rude. Thus the one star.Chompy SaidClaimed my mom had a ruptured throat, she didn’t. Said she was terminal, wasn’t. “Put her in hospice, and keep her comfortable.” Well I had them get another opinion, and Charlotte and Asheville both said there was no ruptured throat and it was treatable. Saw her Wednesday, she can communicate and even joke around after they managed the sepsis and started draining fluid. She went into Caldwell about a week ago and they said she would die, now she is recovering. Yet to be seen if she can continue chemo, but a far cry from just tossing her in hospice. Always get a second opinion, especially when dealing with a hospital as bad as Caldwell Memorial.Beverly BrookshireI took my cousin up there and was looking there was dried blood all over the back of the bed .I took pictures and told the nurse and showed her .This place is nastyD ClarkHad a routine mammogram and I was notified I needed to have another at the hospital so I scheduled. Couple of days prior a man called me at about 6pm and told me what charges would be and demanded to know “How I intended to pay”. I was so taken aback I told him I would pay day of the procedure, about $200. The more I thought the less I liked being talked to like I was some criminal that was going to cheat the hospital out of their money. I called and cancelled the appointment and went to a place in Hickory for 3D imaging which Caldwell did not have at the time. I gave them my insurance information and they never asked me for a dime. When I did get a bill all I owed was about $50. If Caldwell is so hard up for money, the people of this County should go somewhere else. I have continued to go to Hickory and have no intention of going back to this hospital for anything.Mary Frazier⭐️⭐️I was in the ER here today and an elderly lady was in a room next to me. She brought in by ambulance . I could hear her crying and saying she wanted a different Dr or she wanted to go home. I heard them tell her there wasn’t another dr. Then I could hear the nurses at the desk actually making fun of this poor lady ! Say things things like yeah is she driving her self home then laughed. One actually came out saying “blah blah” as the poor women was trying to say something! I did not find it funny or very ethical! They need training on what is appropriate/ethical and isn’t !Paula AdamsI have lost all respect for this hospital. I like to have died due to mental changes due to a bleed & blood loss. Some the nurses & xray treated me wrong before my ICu stay. Didnt even contact my family about changes or they moved me to ICU. My family didnt know where I was for 2 days. Also as much as people have to pay to stay here. U should have hot water for bed baths or showers. The water is never warm enough.Tamra ChildressVery unprofessional check in and long wait time. More interested in there cell phones then checking in and helping patientsAnne Irland⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️My husband was a patient here for 6 days. He has multiple medical problems. He got wonderful, kind, professional, compassionate care by EVERYONE. He was promptly diagnosed and proper treatment started immediately. Physical therapy was even started within 24 hours. The only complaint I can think of was; it took a long time to get the water to run hot. The staff were all wonderful!Eugene Rich⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedRecently had cardiac catherization here as outpatient. Nurses were great! Both pre-op and post-op! Demonstrated professionalism and compassion . Also nurses and technicians doing procedure. GREAT PEOPLE!Amy FoxIf you ask for assistance, a nurse may come to your room 30 minutes to an hour later; if you are on the intensive care unit, you should be checked at least every 30 minutes if not more; sometimes 3 hours would pass before a nurse would even come into the room; very poor servicePaige Bennett⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHad to have my Gallbladder removed, they did an amazing job. In and out in 2 days, care was great, food was great, and Dr. Young and his nurses did a great job.John Hardy⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedBrought my wife in with a fever at 2a. M was only waiting maybe 5 mins in waiting room our nurse Rebecca has was great from the time we arrived taking great care of my wife with focused professional attention along with being friendly and making her comfortable. Thank you again Rebecca .Shannon SchererCaldwell Memorial Hospital Emergency Room should not be in business. On Aug 5, 2018 I went to the ER for severe chest pain. I was placed on the monitor and the nurses did the 12 lead, as they are supposed to do but that was it. Normal protocol for chest pain is IV, O2 and monitor. I was never asked my history, my medications or my allergies, in fact, they gave me medications without even asking if I had allergies to any medications. Blood was drawn, the nurse came in around 11:45, I asked her for some water because I was extremely thirsty. No one came to check on me for 4 hours, no water, no BP checks… NOTHING. A lab tech came in at 4:20, drew a second cardiac enzyme. I was so thirsty and upset that no one had come in to at least see if my pain was gone, whether I needed something, etc. I saw the doctor 1 time, he didn’t even ask my history and when I tried to tell him he blew me off. There is no excuse for this kind of treatment. Our health care system needs to be better than this. By the way I am a healthcare professional so I knew what was right and what was wrong. Lay people wouldn’t have a clue they got such lousy treatment. Shame on you Caldwell ER. I left AMA because I was so disgusted and not feeling much better.banjopilot4u 2Over charges , Will not ever go back…….Non – for profit /jokeAce McPhersonThis is one of the worse hospitals I have ever…ever in my life had to deal with . Although 90% of the staff were polite and caring. The fact that they had so many miscommunications, and the doctor wasn’t doing there daily checks for treatment. Ontop of getting the administrator lady, for the hospital and her yet to be unaware of policies , when even gone to check and verify. To later be told an apology and was still given the wrong information was ridiculous. I would never ever ever recommend anyone go to the hospital, your better off having a complete stranger try and help you for treatment and care . That’s how unaware and considerate it comes down to be toward knowledge able treatment and regulations. Only reason even get a star is because they do have some friendly staff and even though there job title could only help but so much they still put in effort, where they could. The JuiceIf you ever really need help do not come to this place. This place needs to be evaluated maybe even shut down.Mabry Biggsunorganized and carelessNikki ElkinsPhone operator was very rude and not very helpfulQuentin ResendizHorrible service, unknowledgeable “professionals”, and to make it all worse, every UNC Healthcare provider (hospital, physician, and allergy expert) I have went to has gave me contradicting information about medication and medical advise. Wasted thousands of dollars out of my own pocket just to have to deal with a condition for almost 3 months. I wish I could give 0 stars because I am so dissatisfied. I wouldn’t take a dog to this hospital.Robert Booth⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedCareful, attentive, excellent staffing, great quality of care, very busy ERMitchell WardThis place is a jokeTrevor Kanipe⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️It’s better than no hospitalCameron DuthieThey did not diagnose an injury properly. If we ever need emergency care in the future, if possible, we’ll go to another ER.Brandy Blevins⭐️⭐️So slow!!!! They don’t care about anyone!!!!
