Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital Reviews

Before you go to Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Tucson emergency room think.

Ericka Mendoza I’m an easy person to please. If this had a no star rating I would hit that button. I had myself and three children at this hospital three times with no results. I understand go to your primary caregiver but what if you don’t have one and you just started having insurance. There was individuals in there working that seemed as though they just got out of grade school. We’re not mobile we had to walk back call me and I know thats my issue which I was okay with but not getting help was the worst. I thought this was AmericaSpecial Agent Freiman⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI swore I broke my thumb. The ER took me instantly after going to 2 Urgent care places that wanted copay up front, seriously, I don’t usually have $30 to spend. The ER at St Mary’s was more than exceptional. They went pretty much high tech and had no gurneys lined up all over. Xray came to me, admissions came to me there was a steady stream of computers on wheels doing very good treatment. When it was over I had just severely traumatized my thumb and it was going to be OK. Peace of mind. They gave me an awesome ice bag and I followed directions and got better. Billing on the other hand has me paying $60 twice cause they don’t understand how to bill :-IHerman Roche My last and informative review must have been deleted by the hospital. It was very revealing; apparently to point!! I’ll repeat avoid this institution if physically able.Chellie Juan This place is horid !! Staff is ugly . And they don’t care for your safety or health!!! Sitting here waiting to be seen HIPPA was grossly abused!!!Michelle Doughty Absolutely the worst hospital experience ever. We normally go to TMC but for some reason the ambulance decided to take my husband to St. Joe’s despite being told to take him to TMC and the staff was horrid. We were kept in the dark about tests and procedures and were talked down to like children. All our questions were met with rude indignation. One nurse flat out lied to us and the doctor snapped at me for telling him my husband couldn’t take the medicine he ordered due to a pre existing medical condition.Claire Meyer⭐️⭐️Nurse lied and tried to convince me that they’d need to insert a new catheter if he removed the IV line. I told him I knew that wasn’t accurate and that I was uncomfortable. He told me to stop looking at it then. He put biohazard waste and a needle in the regular trash. Also made several sexist remarksLeAnn Stuart⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI have underlying issues that have caused me to use Emergency Rooms several times. I’ve used TMC, University Medical Center, and St. Joe’s. Out of the three, St. Joe’s is at the top of the list. All ER’s in this city are slow as far as wait times. When I went to St. Joe’s for the first time I knew I would not be using the other ER’s here in town. They treated me with dignity and respect. My issues were all addressed in a timely manner. The staff is A+. On another note, this hospital does not ask for your money or insurance right away so the poor, under insured, or well insured are all treated the same as a patient should be. They turn away none. They have a high volume of patients because of this. They do offer a pre check in online for those who wish to wait at home. This is our community hospital of choice.Julius Gee⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was born in this hospital, and I lived 5 StarsOpti mus⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Went in for treatment for a nasty mountain bike crash, ultimately received 10 stitches. The wait was a bit long, not enough staff very early on a Monday morning, but the service was just fine, all staff were polite, efficient, and professional. The staff were genuinely concerned and caring, I experienced none of the negative of the other reviewers. I attribute a lot of the slow wait for treatment to many people in ER that really didn’t appear to be there for an emergency. While I was there a heat stroke patient came in as well as a motorcycle accident patient, I certainly can’t complain about them receiving more immediate care. Thank you St. Joseph’s.Rodney Dechon I come from Minnesota and in Minnesota when you walk into an emergency room you get to see a doctor within a half an hour tops I walked into the saint Joseph’s medical center in Tucson Arizona the emergency room and waited in a waiting room for 2 hours before I finally just walked out obviously there’s a big difference in between what they considered to be an emergency and what you considered to be an emergency I will never be backJose Contreras My mother was seen in St. Joseph’s ER a few months ago. There were no doctors working in the ER. A nurse practitioner was seeing patients. The service was poor. There was a tray of urine samples in a makeshift room and nobody took them as long as we were there. The bathroom in the patient’s lobby was dirty and there was no running water. After being in lobby for about 3 hours, my mom told the floor nurse she was leaving because she was feeling very ill and there was nowhere she could lie down. The nurse then accused my mom of being “suicidal”. He confused her with another patient. He then called security and other personnel to keep her confined to one room. When it was clarified my mom was not that patient, she was escorted out of the hospital. We feel this hospital is not equipped to serve people. It should be shut down. We will never patronize this hospital again.Ruth Thomas They should close this ER down Total incompetence run riot Signed myself out, that is four hours I will never get back.Danielle Reiser Terrible customer service at the front desk. Cold ladies, no emotion and rude. After a painfully excruciating night in the E.r I was waiting for my taxi in the lobby and due to extreme dehydration I asked for maybe a cup of juice or refreshment and she replied… that is only for the people that are in the back being seen. She knew that I just had come out from being back there around 4a.m.-Not to mention I was in the e.r close to 9 hours. It’s so sad what people are becoming. I’ve lost my hope for us all mean and selfish— oh but surely following “protocol” that’ll get us into heaven.Lynnette Workman⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy husband had a Heart catheter procedure done last week (August 29, 2018) and everything was top notch care! We are originally from Las Vegas and moved here in March. Trust me when I say that the care does not compare with Las Vegas Hospitals. From check in to check out, five stars in care.Sydney Schenk The hospital finance and billing department is appalling and discreditable. I moved to Tucson in September 2016 because my husband is military, I had our second born son at this hospital prematurely in January of 2017. We have TRICARE in which there is no copay. However last week I received a bill for the birth of my son nearly two years ago. St Joseph’s is claiming that I owed a copay in which they contacted me about in February of 2017—um no. You did not, if you had been contacting me about an unpaid copay for nearly two years, at the same address and contact number with no response…why did I just randomly receive proof of bill 22 months later, how was I not sent to collections? That is false considering Tricare does not even enforce a copay of any sort. In calling the billing department they couldn’t get any information correct once. They changed the bill amount repeatedly, got angry with me because I told them I would only agree to pay the amount shown on the bill. They called me by three different names (Courtney, Tiffany, Stephanie) My name is Sydney. None of those are considerably close to mine. Apparently they don’t pay attention to who they’re speaking to on the phone, or whose account they’re looking at while doing so. I had thought neutrally about this hospital as the birth of my son went as well as possible being 6 weeks premature, however dealing with remaining departments of the hospital it shows that they clearly are not at benefit or care of the patients they accept. How shameful on their part to discuss any account with any patient in the manner they did—however especially a military family. Definitely would not recommend this hospital to a family member, or friend, let alone a stranger. I will not be returning here for any services either. My advice is go to TMC.Millie H. I had written a previous review on a horrendous experience we had in the ER and then afterward with the billing experience. I worked with a patient advocate and I was asked to call in and let her know if the recurring payment that I had set up on the patient portal worked for May. IT DID NOT… Calling in to try to report it was impossible. There are two issues (and maybe more). There is an IT issue and there is an operations problem. Someone calling in to resolve a payment issue ends up at third parties with 1st level minimum wage employees. You need to get a real customer service phone number where people answer and can bridge the issues with your third-party outsourced staff. The collections agency answering the St. Joseph’s business office number is slimy. Making the patients and their families talk to various services and get nowhere. The services don’t even have a St. Joseph’s phone number to give you. They know nothing other than to take your payment. If this is a profit making group, there needs to be some actual managers experiencing this. This will go nowhere.Zoey Velasquez Just go to the hospitals on the west side of town. I promise you’ll feel safer and receive timely adequate care. This place is awful.Dani Lawrence My child had eye surgery in this hospital this morning. Violently ill all day and my Dr told me to get him to the ER for fluids. On arrival I was met by a screaming ER nurse telling me it would be hours while my son was fainting and vomiting from the anesthesia. I ended up leaving and driving him across town for help. 3rd world medicine at this hospital, never should have let him leave so sick and should probably do something about their bedside manner with sick children. Apparently this hospital collects for surgery only, you’re on your own if you have problems. 7 surgeries this year in different hospitals across our state, this was by far the worst.Megan Collins I went in to the ER late on 8/21 for severe abdominal pain. Once I finally got put into a room and given meds, I didn’t see my nurse for 5-6 hours. I knew what tests and been ordered by the doctor & the only contact I had was with transporters and the staff conducting the tests. I was left in a dark room with the bed rails up and no call button. Twenty minutes after I returned from the last test, the nurse walked in with a syringe. She told me that she had to give it to me & I asked what it was for. She just told me that it was an antibiotic. I told her that no one has told me anything, so I don’t know what I need the antibiotic for. All she did was apologize for no one communicating anything with me and then she proceeded to give me the shot. Ten minutes later the doctor walked in to tell me what the tests had shown & to let me know that they were going to discharge me. I asked her what the shot was for & she let me know that it was given to me by mistake. The nurse was waiting outside my door and when the doctor left, she asked her if I was upset about it. The doctor told her “well, she sure wasn’t happy about it!” A few minutes later, the nurse came in to give me my discharge papers and to take my blood pressure again because it had been high. It was still elevated & she proceeded to sit down and talk to me about how important it is to be active and to lower my blood pressure. I told her that I didn’t want to speak to her and that I wanted to leave. I called the hospital later that day to complain about my experience & I was told that they would follow up and to expect their findings in the mail in the next few days. I still haven’t had a follow up. This hospital is a joke & I will gladly drive across town to avoid ever going here again.Alicia Deuel Horrible hospital, I was taken in by ambulance unconscious while I was being checked in an employee decided since there was a chance I wouldn’t make it. She thought it would be ok to steal three of my rings that have sentimental value and a high dollar amount. Hospital wanted me to believe it was a family member that no one from the hospital would ever do that. Thanks to the Tucson police they have found my jewelry in a pawn shop and the girl is facing 3 felony charges. I will not go to this hospital again if I have a choice.Jenna Johnson Went here after I suffered with extreme abdominal pain, I waited 8 1/2 hours. The staff was unorganized completely, I was taken back for an ultrasound hours before I was asked to give a blood or urine sample. The staff came out and called for many people who were already been taken back or had left, they seem to have no idea where patients are or have an organization system. After holding my bladder for hours waiting for them to ask me to give a sample, I finally just went to the bathroom then of course 15 minutes after they ask why I haven’t given a urine sample yet. I highly recommend you go to a different ER. The place is very dirty and unorganized, when I was taken back to give blood samples, there was huge blood splatters on the wall next to the biohazard trash can. Came into the ER at 5pm and left at 130am.A.R. Fifteen Not all all impressed with the ineptitude of this place on numerous occasions. The staff are usually nice enough but that’s where it ends. Honestly the place needs work to get to a standard of care that people deserve.Jonathan VanLoan During May 3-5, 2017, the staff of the Emergency Room at St. Joseph’s Hospital, in conspiracy with the Nation of Islam, the Tucson Police, and the Tucson Fire Department Paramedics, attempted to murder me twice, the 1st time with heart enlargement medicine, and the second time with an Islamic death squad present in the Emergency Room. It is only by the Grace of the God of Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob that I am still alive. I have returned from Redondo Beach, CA to sue the Hospital and all responsible Parties in federal court.Troy Watson After waiting for 5.5 hours for treatment I gave up and left. I went there at 8:15 PM and at 1:45 AM left. I was in pain and decided to go home, take some Excedrin and go to bed. The way their constipated and inefficient operaton was going, I decided if I waited to go to an Urgent Care facility the next morning, I would be attended to more quickly.Jeff Coy I’ve been here twice. The first time, I got my hair caught in the cooler and cracked my skull. I moved my nose about an inch. They took over 2 and a half hours to see me. I lost a lot of blood. They told me I should just keep pressure on my head and I’d be okay. You try keeping pressure on a head injury for 2 hours. You can’t. Because you’re human. The second time I went I broke my leg, they left me in a gurney for over 6 hours and gave me *no* pain meds because “we didn’t think it was broken”. While I was in the gurney, the nursing staff were hanging out with the ambulance drivers and putting drug addicts on the fast list to service. I watched multiple drug addicts come in who the staff knew by name who they immediately gave a room and if they asked for it a sandwich. One wandered in and said “I’m back, can I have some adderall a and a sandwich? I just need to sleep this off”. That guy got immediate attention. Me? With a shattered tibia? Nada. The staff is rude, the administration are incompetent, the doctors they appoint are self-serving jackasses. This is a joke of a hospital, and you should avoid it at all costs. Attached is a picture of my “we didn’t think it was broken” leg. And they set it, which I don’t believe they did correctly because here it is 9 months later and it still hurts. The doctor harassed me about how much I’d been drinking, I’d not had a drink all week. I told him this and the reply was “no really, just tell me.” The next day, when going in for surgery, one nurse asked how I managed such a bad break and before I could answer another nurse said “he just got drunk and fell”. The professionalism in this hospital is deplorable. I later asked why they left me in a gurney soaking wet for 6 hours and was told “they didn’t think it was really broken”. And the next day I was told they’re trying to stop all the drug addicts from coming in by *trying* to deny narcotics after their 3rd visit. This place is just systematically terrible. Don’t go here Just look at the reviews. Bad, bad, bad and “they helped and I did not have insurance”, then “they took a long time but they were really nice”, and more bad. My Experience is they only want to treat drug addicts. They screw anyone with their act together over. This place is just terrible. Don’t go here.Robyn Mechem I HAVE A VIDEO!!!!! So I just got kicked out of the hospital I was there for 6 hours with my friend who Is homless and very ill. I watched the NURSE kelly badger this poor girl. I video taped it so that way I can show her supervisor. I was asked to delete the video because it is a federal offense thats a lie or alot of youtubers would be in jail. This is wrong and so degrading. You choose to be a nurse I pay insurance and so does this girl. Absolute terrible service I cant even barley put into words how terrible this place is. If you want to see the video please go on my facebook Robyn Mechem or PM me because they dont allow you to post things. It also shows her putting an IV unsanitarily i am in school to be an RN this is so wrong i have gotten permission from patient to post.Dennis R. Martinez⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe doctors were very caring. Right away I got attended to. Cared for my financial needs as well being that I had no insurance.Rachel Owens My husband was having pain the whole time. We waited for four hours long. They put me in his room to wait for him after his ultrasound and then placed him in the waiting room. What?????? A lady also needed to be pushed in her wheelchair and the male nurse told her to “come on”. She couldn’t. Very disappointed with the lack of genuine care and extremely long wait time. This is the ER imagine if the emergency was even more urgent. What would happen then??….kali nicole Only good for the audiology program. Everything else is craptastic.Lindsey Hansen⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Wait time was a bit longer than anticipated, bit the nurses and doctor were very attentive and hospitable.Brittany Sims They know my medical history, everyone BUT the doctor was nice! I was rushed into a room right away but with a migraine, infection and SEVERE nausea, I didn’t get any treatment, no antibiotics, I got lied to and mistreated, just staying back there for 5hrs with nothing/no vitals, while the people next to me was saying how high he got off the morphine and got more pain relief and the other drunk saying how she abuses drugs and got more attention then I did, considering I was crying, hyperventilating and having a panic attack! (While the others were laughing and being ridiculous). ALL I WANTED WAS ANTIBIOTICS!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS HOSPITAL CONSIDERING THEY CARED MORE 10yrs AGO!!!SIRENA HINER If you haven’t got 5+ hours to spend in the waiting room, i reccomend you go somewhere else.
