Teresa Mae Leveille⭐️⭐️⭐️Staff is great. THE PARKING LOT IS BEYOND ANNOYING. Twice we tried parking and the lot is full. People turn around in front of you and take spots out of turn. THEY NEED AN ATTENDANT, plus they need some sort of notice if the lot is at capacity.Eva I left a 5 star review here on the date I went to the ER because the front desk woman, the doctor, and the nurses were all great. I have no issue with them and I am thankful for their work. The billing department here is an absolute mess. Received a bill that was for the full amount of the visit when I thankfully have insurance that covers nearly all of any ER visit. Called to inquire, they said they hadn’t received anything and to call my insurance company, that woman was lovely to talk to even if the information was frustrating. Called my insurance company and they said they did receive the bill, and had already paid it out weeks ago. Called back to see what I should do and the second woman was incredibly rude, it’s sounds ridiculous but she was just plain mean, seemed mad I was even calling and said that my claim had been denied by my insurance. I explained that I had *just* got off the phone with my insurance company and they had settled the claim weeks ago, and had paid CHA ‘x’ amount. She replied that there was nothing I could do until they sent a corrected claim, I tried to ask if I should call them back to see if they could send the claim over again but before I could she cut me off to say sharply again that there was nothing I could do, and until they received the paperwork from my insurance company (which again, has already been settled and sent) I was responsible for the bill. I don’t even know where to go from here. CHA and my insurance are telling me two exact opposite things. Medical bills are stressful and having a billing staff that is so harsh, so completely lacking understanding of what patients are going through is enough that I will never come here again.Jory Hecht I went into the emergency room to get someone help. No one was there to greet me. Had to get a security guard to contact someone. He didn’t seem appalled by the situation at all. Once in, the PA and nurse gave advice that made staff at MGH gaspFIORYIOUS My mom was a patient at 6 North and it was horrible. There were many safety violations happening throughout stay, and management was no help, was promised “safety is #1 priority” by Laurie Bausk, Nurse manager only to see patient safety disregarded repeatedly. There was a great and knowledgeable nurse there Gina but she was outnumbered by bad nurses like Krista. My mom was roomed near loud nurse station were patients were talked about poorly. The kitchen and housekeeping staff were more uplifting than the floor nurses. I won’t even touch on the way we were treated and talked down to by internist Megan B. Callahan, MD who misdiagnosed my mom and just wanted us to be happy they were wrong. She had a preconceived notion about us and it showed on everything she did. Thankfully she was replaced by Jeremy Sylvan, MD who knew his stuff and also cared about the people he treats. They were more concerned about which insurance was paying for the stay and were going to discharge her without treating the reason she was admitted. It made a scary experience worse.Arija Logins I had a secondary insurance that wasn’t originally added to my claims. I didn’t realize until after I had paid some out of pocket expenses not covered by my primary insurance. I called to have this sorted out and a couple weeks later spoke to the billing team and was told that all claims had been sent and that I did not owe any additional money. 1.5 years later they start billing me again out of the blue. I sent a letter explaining the situations and my insurance information and the billing team told me the insurance had been applied and that I still owed money. Then a few weeks later they sent the bill to a debt collector. Meanwhile, I checked with my insurance companies and my secondary had only ever received half of the bills! The worst experience I’ve ever had. Now I have to waste hours of my life sorting this out. DO NOT GO HERE. My gf came here because she felt unstable. She came here all on her own. Voluntarily. She felt better a few hours later. She set up a follow up appointment with her therapist and everything was set. She never signed a single paper. To add to this, her “crisis counselor” said that if she needs help getting home from where she is that the hospital would pay for it. She dozed off. She woke up to them saying they are looking for a bed. Meaning she’s gonna be going to an inpatient hospital. They straight up played head games with a patient that came here because she felt unstable. I absolutely hate the staff here as well. They are rude and haven’t once asked her if she’s hungry. Terrible experience. The doctor and the nursing staff I interacted with were nice enough, however, they gave me unexpected bills in multiple places. Charged to get my medical records transferred (without an FYI beforehand) because they chose to go through an outside company. Went for my annual, waited for 45+ minutes for the doctor to get in, was interrupted at least 3 times throughout my checkup. Doctor asked if there was anything else that I was wondering about, I asked about my sinuses. Doctor said I should try going to an Ear, Nose, & Throat doctor and “prescribed” me flonase and claritin, both OTC meds that I didn’t need a prescription for; consequently, I was charged with an additional “diagnostic visit” on top of my checkup, which means I was paying out of pocket for the visit, because I asked the doctor how I should proceed with my sinuses if they stay congested. She did not even look at my sinuses nor gave me any type diagnostic exam. Not only was I not told ahead of time that if I mentioned ANYTHING else in my visit when the doctor asked that an additional visit would be added (per the CHA billing department), the second time I sent the claim for review, they gave a determination within an hour and a half. Almost certain now that I iwas prescribed those OTC meds so that the doc could say “look, I prescribed something. That means it’s a diagnostic visit.” Now changing my primary care physician again because of this terrible experience and never going back. Shady billing business practices. At least be up front and honest about it BEFORE you charge patients. The worst part is, when you dispute a claim, there is NO communication between you and those making the decision. I keep hearing back from the “messenger” that there is “nothing she can do”, but they wouldn’t connect me or my significant other to anyone who would be able to properly explain the decision and of whom I could explain my case to. This is the most disrespectful practice I have been to, and I will not be returning. As I filled out all the requisite insurance forms online, the only paper I touched was my parking ticket and the MRI safety screening sheet that asks me if I have any metal in my body. Almost every single staffer is courteous and puts the patient first. (We’ve been to CHA many times, having chronic illness in the family.) They’re not the hugest hospital in the area–I got referred out to Mt. Auburn for a cardiac stent–but for basic emergency care and medical issues, they’re great. I then went back for a follow up visit after I was diagnosed with Lyme, and they drew some fluid from my knee again. All told CHA charged me $1500 – it would have been $3100 but my insurance covered part of it. The most egregious of the charges were two separate ones for “Hospital Services” at $500 each, which I later found out were actually “Treat/OBS RM” – they charged me $500 for the room! I was not admitted to the hospital, so I don’t get how they can legally charge me $500 for a room, I was simply there to see the Orthopedic doctor for my knee.Flowerine 2000 The day my son was born at the CHA hospital was the happiest day of my life. But this review is not about that day. The review is about indifferent, unprofessional staff and horrible unacceptable service at CHA’s ER. We got dismissed from the maternity ward on the 16th and were seen at the CHA Malden the following day for checkup. The bilirubin level was high and as a precaution the doctor suggested we do the test at CHA Cambridge emergency room lab the following day since it’s a Sunday and CHA Malden’s lab will be closed. Not suspecting any issue we agreed. So on 03.18.18 we drove up to CHA Malden Emergency room to get a 1pm bloodwork test ordered by our pediatrician the day before. And here is when a nightmare started. I should probably reiterate that my baby was only three days old and i was clearly sleep deprived, tired and hormonal . Here we were in the end of the flu season in the busy emergency room- not fun. After a 30 minute wait to talk to her, the receptionist dismissed us immediately after being told what we were there for: “ We don’t do this here. I don’t know where you were sent but it’s not here. May be upstairs. “ So we took the elevator up to the hospital’s lab . When after another half an hour standing at the lab window waiting to be helped someone finally came out. That lady was also very indifferent to our problem to find where we were sent: “we are closed today. It’s not here. “ That was a breaking point for me and i said: “ you work here at this hospital, so you are going to help us because we need bloodwork done and the doctor sent an order here. We are not leaving until someone helps me and my 3 days old son!!! “ The other two people that came out at this point did not know what to do either. So i suggested that they dial an on-call doctor at the CHA Malden and figure out what to do. So they did and the doctor on call confirmed that we have an order for bloodwork and need to go to the emergency room lab to get blood drawn. Down to the 1st floor we go again. The rude lady in the ER finally checked us in. We spent a few minutes in the ER room where the nurse checked my baby’s temp, oxygen level and drew blood. Then they dismissed us and we went home. Absolutely unacceptable service by all the parties involved. Is this done to all the 3 day old children and their mother’s or are we the only “ lucky” ones? People are in the hospital to get treated, not to get mistreated. Imagine my surprise when my insurance sent me the letter that CHA ER charged them over 1K for the service of which $150 was my co-pay. That is a very expensive bilirubin test order that i had to give to my baby both financially and emotionally. They pressed so hard on my chest while operating that I have had issues laying down as I become short of breathe and feel like I can’t breathe due to the pain. Doctors cant figure it out. The perk and ibphrophen aren’t helping either. Also the fact that I’m nursing doesn’t mean that the nursey can’t and shouldn’t take my daughter so I could sleep but apparently they don’t have sufficient nurses to watch more than 1 baby at a time. Rooms are dirty and everything is old in the rooms, I had to bring my own Lysol disinfectant wipes and clean up blood off the floor near my bed. Doctor asked if he could check in my nose before i leave, so I said yes, assuming it wouldn’t cost me anything else. Big mistake. This was me agreeing to a $685 procedure. They have a deal with the insurance company forcing this procedure to pay out more than charged for and leaving the patient with the bill. That short procedure cost me $685 after billing my insurance. I went in expecting a co-pay, and walked out breaking the bank. I was always proud of this hospital and the way they operated. Given what has happened over the past few days involving the Psychiatric ward of the hospital I lost all faith. My brother lives with me and I have watched his mental health decline to the point where he was harmful to himself. I went the courts and he was sectioned for a 72hr evaluation in order to properly help my brother. The hospital released him in 48 hrs without actually conducting the proper mental health evaluations. If you care about your families well being do not bring your loved ones here.
