Before you go to CHA Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Cambridge emergency room think.
Teresa Mae Leveille⭐️⭐️⭐️Staff is great. THE PARKING LOT IS BEYOND ANNOYING. Twice we tried parking and the lot is full. People turn around in front of you and take spots out of turn. THEY NEED AN ATTENDANT, plus they need some sort of notice if the lot is at capacity.EvaI left a 5 star review here on the date I went to the ER because the front desk woman, the doctor, and the nurses were all great. I have no issue with them and I am thankful for their work. The billing department here is an absolute mess. Received a bill that was for the full amount of the visit when I thankfully have insurance that covers nearly all of any ER visit. Called to inquire, they said they hadn’t received anything and to call my insurance company, that woman was lovely to talk to even if the information was frustrating. Called my insurance company and they said they did receive the bill, and had already paid it out weeks ago. Called back to see what I should do and the second woman was incredibly rude, it’s sounds ridiculous but she was just plain mean, seemed mad I was even calling and said that my claim had been denied by my insurance. I explained that I had *just* got off the phone with my insurance company and they had settled the claim weeks ago, and had paid CHA ‘x’ amount. She replied that there was nothing I could do until they sent a corrected claim, I tried to ask if I should call them back to see if they could send the claim over again but before I could she cut me off to say sharply again that there was nothing I could do, and until they received the paperwork from my insurance company (which again, has already been settled and sent) I was responsible for the bill. I don’t even know where to go from here. CHA and my insurance are telling me two exact opposite things. Medical bills are stressful and having a billing staff that is so harsh, so completely lacking understanding of what patients are going through is enough that I will never come here again.Jory HechtI went into the emergency room to get someone help. No one was there to greet me. Had to get a security guard to contact someone. He didn’t seem appalled by the situation at all. Once in, the PA and nurse gave advice that made staff at MGH gaspFIORYIOUSMy mom was a patient at 6 North and it was horrible. There were many safety violations happening throughout stay, and management was no help, was promised “safety is #1 priority” by Laurie Bausk, Nurse manager only to see patient safety disregarded repeatedly. There was a great and knowledgeable nurse there Gina but she was outnumbered by bad nurses like Krista. My mom was roomed near loud nurse station were patients were talked about poorly. The kitchen and housekeeping staff were more uplifting than the floor nurses. I won’t even touch on the way we were treated and talked down to by internist Megan B. Callahan, MD who misdiagnosed my mom and just wanted us to be happy they were wrong. She had a preconceived notion about us and it showed on everything she did. Thankfully she was replaced by Jeremy Sylvan, MD who knew his stuff and also cared about the people he treats. They were more concerned about which insurance was paying for the stay and were going to discharge her without treating the reason she was admitted. It made a scary experience worse.Arija LoginsI had a secondary insurance that wasn’t originally added to my claims. I didn’t realize until after I had paid some out of pocket expenses not covered by my primary insurance. I called to have this sorted out and a couple weeks later spoke to the billing team and was told that all claims had been sent and that I did not owe any additional money. 1.5 years later they start billing me again out of the blue. I sent a letter explaining the situations and my insurance information and the billing team told me the insurance had been applied and that I still owed money. Then a few weeks later they sent the bill to a debt collector. Meanwhile, I checked with my insurance companies and my secondary had only ever received half of the bills! The worst experience I’ve ever had. Now I have to waste hours of my life sorting this out. DO NOT GO HERE. I figured the negative billing stories were flukes, but they’re not.American – Canadian Wrestling Federation⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Good hospital, very kind stuff; however, the Hospital needs to be kept more sanitary in certain locations within the campus.Anthony J DiCarliThis place is horrible. My gf came here because she felt unstable. She came here all on her own. Voluntarily. She felt better a few hours later. She set up a follow up appointment with her therapist and everything was set. She never signed a single paper. To add to this, her “crisis counselor” said that if she needs help getting home from where she is that the hospital would pay for it. She dozed off. She woke up to them saying they are looking for a bed. Meaning she’s gonna be going to an inpatient hospital. They straight up played head games with a patient that came here because she felt unstable. I absolutely hate the staff here as well. They are rude and haven’t once asked her if she’s hungry. We will never come here again.Stephanie Marshall⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe emergency room staff was really helpful and nice, was able to get back on track with my health.Madeline DippelIf I could give lower than I 1 star, I would. Terrible experience. The doctor and the nursing staff I interacted with were nice enough, however, they gave me unexpected bills in multiple places. Charged to get my medical records transferred (without an FYI beforehand) because they chose to go through an outside company. Went for my annual, waited for 45+ minutes for the doctor to get in, was interrupted at least 3 times throughout my checkup. Doctor asked if there was anything else that I was wondering about, I asked about my sinuses. Doctor said I should try going to an Ear, Nose, & Throat doctor and “prescribed” me flonase and claritin, both OTC meds that I didn’t need a prescription for; consequently, I was charged with an additional “diagnostic visit” on top of my checkup, which means I was paying out of pocket for the visit, because I asked the doctor how I should proceed with my sinuses if they stay congested. She did not even look at my sinuses nor gave me any type diagnostic exam. Not only was I not told ahead of time that if I mentioned ANYTHING else in my visit when the doctor asked that an additional visit would be added (per the CHA billing department), the second time I sent the claim for review, they gave a determination within an hour and a half. Almost certain now that I iwas prescribed those OTC meds so that the doc could say “look, I prescribed something. That means it’s a diagnostic visit.” Now changing my primary care physician again because of this terrible experience and never going back. Shady billing business practices. At least be up front and honest about it BEFORE you charge patients. The worst part is, when you dispute a claim, there is NO communication between you and those making the decision. I keep hearing back from the “messenger” that there is “nothing she can do”, but they wouldn’t connect me or my significant other to anyone who would be able to properly explain the decision and of whom I could explain my case to. This is the most disrespectful practice I have been to, and I will not be returning. Please, I highly recommend going to a different healthcare practitioner.Ashley StearnsMy insurer’s (Tuft’s Care Link) re-insurer (Cigna) denied your claim for payment for my hospital stay 12/21/19-12/24/19 because you didn’t code it properly. You coded it as a 48-hour observation only, at the expiration of which I was just going into medically necessary surgery. No wonder your ratings on Google are horrifying – the torture and terrorism your billing department subjects your clients to is shocking. And then you have the *nerve* to call me at 9:50 on a Saturday morning to demand I pay a $17,000+ bill?! My insurer will be calling you Monday. I suggest you straighten out your billing errors by then.M AnsariI had been charged more than a years for services which I never had. For example, for INR test I was charged Lab etc. and lab test while there I never visited or seen labs (LOL). They were using hand-held device to get atypical result to do test twice a month to collect more money from insurance. Whole thing is opposite in Mass general hospital, less charges, flexible time and accurate blood test results to save time and money. I am still paying overcharged amount by they used incorrect code. So Be Aware.Constance ZhuApparently one of the pharmacists doesn’t know what she’s doing.Kevin O’HaraThe folks at the front desk, and the doctor were all very friendly and helped me in the ER. I have no issues with them save for the person who lied to me about the cost of this appointment. I paid my co-pay, and was told that this payment should cover the visit. Here I am a month later to find three bills totaling in the thousands for the 45mins and ultimately un-determined condition I dropped in with. This is the most expensive Tylenol I ever received. I would recommend this hospital if you have a lot of money you don’t care about and want to throw it at the next bill that shows up. I can guarantee after a visit here you should expect to see a lot of them. Otherwise, avoid this place and go downtown.Nilsa ValeAbnormality found on right breast through MRI and Physician breast exam. They are telling me I have to wait an ENTIRE month to be screened. Reason: my age- apparently middle aged breasts are not as important to check. Lets hope for everyone’s sake nothing comes of this!Romeo Malaquias⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHave no words to say how thankful I’m, you guys did I great job. Waited for a long time for nothing. Had a bad cut in my hand and they didn’t disinfect it or even cleaned it. I did that myself. The nurses there are either lazy or truly incompetent. Both times they told me a doctor would follow up with me. They didn’t. The first time I tried calling but got transferred a thousand times. This time I’m not even going to try. Wow. Truly the worst hispital I’ve ever been to.Miz Isa⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDid my radiology tech internship. Great peopleJonathan Reilly⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER Recommended7am MRI in Cambridge. Shout out to the Cambridge Health Alliance for having their act together like no other place I’ve seen in a *long* time. In the span of 8 minutes I: I parked (a surprisingly big deal in Cambridge) Checked in at hospital front desk. Sorted billing. Received a wristband with my basic info on it including where I was to go as well as 7 different QR codes for what I assume are procedure related details. Walked down the hall and checked in to Radiology / Imaging. As I filled out all the requisite insurance forms online, the only paper I touched was my parking ticket and the MRI safety screening sheet that asks me if I have any metal in my body. I am impressed!emmanuella jeanReceptionists there are very, very unprofessional. I called to check on a family member that got admitted, left on hold for 45 minutes, had to hang up and drove to the hospital, to make sure that the family member was there and ok. Very unprofessional.injea kimThis hospital is greedy people who demand money from my grandparents that retired and have no money right now, this people are fraud , greedy people. Pathetic they go to he’ll where belong.Shawn KellyWish i could give 0. I suicidal they throw me out bare foot no help. I begged for help beg beg beg and no help. I love the doctors but I wish they would try and understand their patients a little bit more and not rush things. Especially for the patients who don’t speak English.Ssempebwa Godfrey⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI worked in this place for along, but I enjoy it, there is a spirit of togetherness in my department , l know we are not perfect, we got a manager who is understanding.Matt LonderganI was treated with utter disrespect from the nurses and especially the security. I had chest pains and couldn’t breathe and the security told me I couldn’t be seen by the doctors because the doctors said that ‘they didn’t want me there’.t I literally started crying because I thought they were going to just watch me suffocate to death. I’m appaledKarina GonzalezI have called the CHA cambridge financial office seeking for information about what type of insurance they take, the person that picked up the call was really unprofessional and rude, she was trying to go back and forth with me when i was just trying to get the information, she was approaching me in a rude way and trying to rush me, not only that she sounded angry like she didn’t want to do her job, plus i had to explained to her 3 times the reason of my called, when she finally understood what i needed she tried to say that i was the one that couldn’t understand her, she had a really nasty attitude people like that shouldn’t be allowed to work with patients information. This is a really good hospital, i had my baby there but they need to hire better staff to deal with customer service and patients information.Alba MedinaThe amount of times I get sent home from there, clinics and Emergency room in pain is enough. I have bad illness alot of chronic pain, disk, knee miniscus pain, tendonitis pain, pinch nerve pain. Fibromyalgia! Doctor sends me home in pain. I moved here 4 years ago a native of Cambridge, and I am shocked how the people are being treated like meaningless cattle… Not, everyone is a drug addict. My blood was drawn so many times ro check without me knowing they never found anything. This hospital is not worth going to. Stay away!!!Cindy Von UngererMeh. Not the best hospital.Ronazia SingletonHighly unprofessional and I felt very discriminated. The nurses/doctors completely disregard everything I told them and how I was feeling.Anna FriedrichMajor HIPAA violation of my baby’s privacy which I found about by chance–CHA fired the culprit at the Medical Records but didn’t notify me of the breach.Rachel Benedict⭐️⭐️There are some great providers. But it is a huge bureaucracy and it can be incredibly difficult to reach a human being who can help you refill a prescription. I have been forwarded now to three different phone numbers and no one answers, and the voice mail isn’t set up. I am an immigration attorney for a living, and frankly dealing with CHA bureaucracy is almost as Kafkaesque as dealing with certain large federal agencies. I don’t usually post reviews on google, but nothing I have written here is any different than one I have told CHA time and time again in my client satisfaction surveys. If anyone from CHA reads this PLEASE tell me how to speak to a person who works in the Macht Building, the operator keeps sending me to people who have no voice mail. Thank you.Lilyan F.Unethical practice. I was triple charged for the same ER visit for a simple but serious respiratory infection. I received 2 separate bills from my insurance claiming they’ve sent over claims on the exact same line items multiple times, and filed it multiple times. Much malpractice in the insurance and billing department.Vanessa VasquezI am extremely appalled by the choice of staff/students at this facility. One of the students posted a video via social media having a grand old time smoking marijuana before her shift. The women continued to record herself intoxicated trying to help a resident get off of her hospital bed, ALL OF THIS IS BEING RECORDED ON SOCIAL MEDIA BY THE WAY! She seemed to be way more interested in recording the resident struggling to get out of bed then doing her job and helping the resident! What happen to patient privacy? Pictures of this women are posted all over the internet not quiet sure how she landed a position with this facility but that behavior should not be tolerated in this environment. How will any family feel comfortable leaving there loved ones with weed smoking CNA’s that record themselves on the job! I feel so bad for the resident in the video. Unbelievable ! This person was trained through JVS CNA training what a shame! This was at cambridge hospital !Idony Lisle⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Cambridge Hospital has the fastest ER I’ve ever been in. Almost every single staffer is courteous and puts the patient first. (We’ve been to CHA many times, having chronic illness in the family.) They’re not the hugest hospital in the area–I got referred out to Mt. Auburn for a cardiac stent–but for basic emergency care and medical issues, they’re great. Urology and podiatry are particularly good, and their mammograms are almost fun because of the staff!Anand PandeyI may move out of Somerville because of how bad this place is! Never go! I am going to picket! As a doc about their blatant disregard for patient care or human decency. Are you comfortable with your patient data at CHA? I am not! #WannabehospitalMichael AllenWas referred to Orthopedics by my PCP for knee swelling. They drew some fluid from my knee and also sent me for an X Ray and a blood test. I then went back for a follow up visit after I was diagnosed with Lyme, and they drew some fluid from my knee again. All told CHA charged me $1500 – it would have been $3100 but my insurance covered part of it. The most egregious of the charges were two separate ones for “Hospital Services” at $500 each, which I later found out were actually “Treat/OBS RM” – they charged me $500 for the room! I was not admitted to the hospital, so I don’t get how they can legally charge me $500 for a room, I was simply there to see the Orthopedic doctor for my knee.Flowerine 2000The day my son was born at the CHA hospital was the happiest day of my life. But this review is not about that day. The review is about indifferent, unprofessional staff and horrible unacceptable service at CHA’s ER. We got dismissed from the maternity ward on the 16th and were seen at the CHA Malden the following day for checkup. The bilirubin level was high and as a precaution the doctor suggested we do the test at CHA Cambridge emergency room lab the following day since it’s a Sunday and CHA Malden’s lab will be closed. Not suspecting any issue we agreed. So on 03.18.18 we drove up to CHA Malden Emergency room to get a 1pm bloodwork test ordered by our pediatrician the day before. And here is when a nightmare started. I should probably reiterate that my baby was only three days old and i was clearly sleep deprived, tired and hormonal . Here we were in the end of the flu season in the busy emergency room- not fun. After a 30 minute wait to talk to her, the receptionist dismissed us immediately after being told what we were there for: “ We don’t do this here. I don’t know where you were sent but it’s not here. May be upstairs. “ So we took the elevator up to the hospital’s lab . When after another half an hour standing at the lab window waiting to be helped someone finally came out. That lady was also very indifferent to our problem to find where we were sent: “we are closed today. It’s not here. “ That was a breaking point for me and i said: “ you work here at this hospital, so you are going to help us because we need bloodwork done and the doctor sent an order here. We are not leaving until someone helps me and my 3 days old son!!! “ The other two people that came out at this point did not know what to do either. So i suggested that they dial an on-call doctor at the CHA Malden and figure out what to do. So they did and the doctor on call confirmed that we have an order for bloodwork and need to go to the emergency room lab to get blood drawn. Down to the 1st floor we go again. The rude lady in the ER finally checked us in. We spent a few minutes in the ER room where the nurse checked my baby’s temp, oxygen level and drew blood. Then they dismissed us and we went home. Absolutely unacceptable service by all the parties involved. Is this done to all the 3 day old children and their mother’s or are we the only “ lucky” ones? People are in the hospital to get treated, not to get mistreated. Imagine my surprise when my insurance sent me the letter that CHA ER charged them over 1K for the service of which $150 was my co-pay. That is a very expensive bilirubin test order that i had to give to my baby both financially and emotionally. Hospitals need to have clear protocols and follow them- This needs to be fixed immediately so the staff at both CHA Malden and CHA Cambridge know what to do in the situation like this- simple blood test on a Sunday.Abduala Benmahmoud⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy roommate had a leg surgery at this hospital and the staff were so kind and helpful. I spent some time with him before the surgery trying to calm him down and I noticed how the nurses/doctors were so professionals and helpful. The surgery succeed and my friend now is able to walk again.lucia oliveira⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedIt isn’t a fancy hospital. However the staff is very kind and professional. I was lucky to be assisted for really good and carring doctors and nurses!Tessa BagginsI used to go to therapy at the adult psychiatry center and they had the absolute worst customer service you could possibly imagine. I had a terrible therapist who seemed like she had never done this before and when I tried to request a new provider, they just added me to the end of the waiting list as if I wasn’t already a patient there. The front desk and central intake associates are often rude and not helpful at all. Do not go here if you can help it.Tom ClarksonHorrible Dr. At Somerville Hospital. Changing medication from generic to brand name with out talking to me. Most likely due to some kick backs. Refuses to fill prescriptions or takes multiple calls to get refills. Staff is incredibly inept. Multiple calls for information went unregarded, then was given wrong info about apointment. Horrible experiences with this guy.Lori Hightower⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedSo ,I was frantic today when I learned my insurance didn’t cover my much needed prescription. So I’m on phone with the pharmacy worried and the gentlemen I was speaking with immediately corrected the problem. Immediately! And he was so kind too! His name is Carmen, and people can be so rude all day so when I’m treated as a human being with consideration and compassion I need to share it. Keep it up Carmen and thankyou.Mahshid RezaDo not work in Ultrasound Department. The manager there is the worst person to be a manager in Boston area. She is a dangerous person to be around. Nobody likes her and that department unless you are the puppy of the manager! She easily get rid of you if she does not like you. She does not care if you know your job, she just care if you pleased her! Before you start to work in Ultrasound department, please ask around about the manager there and how she treats people who works there.Katherine FajardoVery disappointed with the maternity ward at this hospital definitely not Brighrams service! Had a cesarean, thought I’d have the same experience but far from it. They pressed so hard on my chest while operating that I have had issues laying down as I become short of breathe and feel like I can’t breathe due to the pain. Doctors cant figure it out. The perk and ibphrophen aren’t helping either. Also the fact that I’m nursing doesn’t mean that the nursey can’t and shouldn’t take my daughter so I could sleep but apparently they don’t have sufficient nurses to watch more than 1 baby at a time. Rooms are dirty and everything is old in the rooms, I had to bring my own Lysol disinfectant wipes and clean up blood off the floor near my bed. Cafe closes at 6 so your visitors don’t even have access to a free cup of coffee, brighrams does! Would have gone back to brighrams if only my insurance wouldn’t have changed. 🙁AVERY LEWISMy first time experience here will last a life time in my mind was treated with the most disrespect and I was there was sent to the emergency room for pain to be discriminated against by a doctor named Alex it was so bad I had to call my girl friend and my lawyers office to stay on the phone with me due to the fact I felt unsafe being there because of how I was being looked at and treated. No words can explain how I feel. This place caused me more fear for my life than what the world has to offer the patent doctor care in this place with the doctors is just down right judge and profile and mis trust everything going on with you that’s in black and white and treat you like a nun human being.Duncan MacLeodWent to the hospital for a consultation for sinus problems. Doctor asked if he could check in my nose before i leave, so I said yes, assuming it wouldn’t cost me anything else. Big mistake. This was me agreeing to a $685 procedure. They have a deal with the insurance company forcing this procedure to pay out more than charged for and leaving the patient with the bill. That short procedure cost me $685 after billing my insurance. I went in expecting a co-pay, and walked out breaking the bank. Question everything these doctors want to do to you, because they have no regard for how much something may cost a patient and won’t explain procedures in full before performing them. Finding a new primary care.Erik R D⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedExcellent my baby born hereGeorge MakI’ll start by saying I grew up in Cambridge and I was born in this hospital. I was always proud of this hospital and the way they operated. Given what has happened over the past few days involving the Psychiatric ward of the hospital I lost all faith. My brother lives with me and I have watched his mental health decline to the point where he was harmful to himself. I went the courts and he was sectioned for a 72hr evaluation in order to properly help my brother. The hospital released him in 48 hrs without actually conducting the proper mental health evaluations. If you care about your families well being do not bring your loved ones here. I would recommend Mass General or another psychiatric ward local to the Boston Area.DES-Design System⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy service was very fast from the reception area to the lab. Thumbs up.Jeffery Pynduss⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️A nice smaller hospital. This is a public hospital closely located near memorial highwayLaura DunlevyI would give this place zero stars if I could. A friend recommended me to see a doctor there who her brother had surgery with. I was very clear that I was asking for a second opinion and the kind of surgery I need. I get to the appointment seconds into me explaining the situation he says that’s not a surgery he would do. He then goes to google to search my current doctor and tells me I am with the right person even though again I’m asking for a second opinion. He then searches on google for doctors at Beth Israel that I can see. I called customer service and they refuse to refund my 60.00 co-pay because of the care I received. I am glad searching google costs $60.00. I could have saved my money and 2 hours and done that myself.Louis SperaVery poor experience we had their on 082215.
