Before you go to Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Chesapeake emergency room think.
Brittany Miller⭐️⭐️Pros: Entire hospital staff was friendly and compassionate. Cons: Extremely slow. The staff, outside of the waiting room, has no sense of urgency. Waited almost 2 hours after being seen by the PA for her to get the supplies needed to drain an abscess. I could hear the staff’s entire conversations about their dogs, food they were eating, their next day off, and everything in between. I understand that the ER can be slow and people who require more intense medical treatment will be treated first, but this was ridiculous.Sara Smiles⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe care I received for outpatient surgery at CMC exceeded all of my expectations! My anxiety was high walking in, and as soon as there was an interaction with a person, the tension literally melted out of my being. Every person encountered was sincere, warm, competent, and reassuring. Nurse Joanna started my IV with no trouble and zero pain thanks to a drop of lidocaine beforehand. My nurse anesthetist and anesthesiologist were second to none. They took precautions to ensure that none of their meds would trigger vertigo. They explained everything regarding my anesthesia in words I could understand and devised a plan I felt completely comfortable with. My surgeon is a rock star in his field. Just cannot say enough wonderful things about this hospital and every single member of their stellar staff! I feel lucky and blessed to receive care from CMC and will continue to choose them over and over again.Kee&Tee BellI had an emergency with my 7month old they took their time and there was no sence of urgency….. when i say they took their time i mean it!!! This is definitely not an emergency rooomAllen Johnson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy daughter had her baby here and my first grandchild. Was nothing but first class and and when a little issue came up with Chase they made sure the Dad and Mom was kept with everything that was going on and was able to provide a courtesy room for mom so she wouldn’t have to drive 45 on way to get back and forth. Me being from out of town and most of the people in Virginia are so rude you run into it was a great pleasure once we walked in the hospital it was lile we we’re in another state. The Nurses Doctors and staff in general was top notch. Thank you all for taking care of Chase Adam Johnson 5/29/19Janetta Douglas⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedChesapeake reginal is by far the best hospital in Virginia .Tracy LucasMedically negligent. Chief complaint ignored. There for asthma and treated as a cardiac patient. No oxygen, no neb, nothing. All cardiac tests negative. Still nothing. Wanted to give me a sleeping pill though. Awful doctor. Never again.Raven BrownThis hospital is backward and there is no sense for any urgency. I think the P.A’s need a little more information about the health of patients and know how to speak to a patient because this one P.A needs to know how to talk and treat patients other then to keep arguing with them. Her name is Brittany S and she had a very unpleasant attitude and she even rolled her eyes at me. I walked out although I am in terrible pain but she had no urgency in her walk nor how she communicated. I came in for consent Abdominal pain and pelvic pain followed by burning in my kidneys which has been going on for sometime now. I was telling the P.A about what was hurting me and so for. I then told her my kidneys hurt and so for. She then asked me why!? Really!? If I knew what was wrong with me I would be sitting in the E.R. what kind of dumb question was that. I could have said why are such an air head. But I didnt. Anyways don’t come to this hospital for the Staff in the bed areas they don’t know what they are talking about for they don’t know how to treat and accommodate a patient and there needs. I wish I could give -1 star but 1 will have to do. I understand people need P.A’S and Nurses and etc in the medical field but, make sure you get some P.A’s who know there information and know how to treat people.Tim Gaylord⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I have never received anything but excellent care from the staff and doctors. I did experience a wait time of about 18 minutes once due to the amount of people coming to ER for bad cold or flu. When I was in the room with the nurse, she tried to get me back to an ER room as soon as possible. I can’t give a 5 star review because of my last visit to ER. I checked in around 4:30 and was taken back to a room within about 5 minutes. After X-rays and CT, I had a visit from a doctor. I then just layed in the gurney. Around 10 pm, the nurse came in and needed some more testing of blood and urine. At this time I was told that I was going to be admitted but no beds were available. Around 7am, I was finally taken to a room on the 6th floor. We passed several rooms that were empty and for that, I was not pleased. Also I was never given any of my medications or food to eat. The staff on the floor and all of the other specialist were outgoing and treated me like a king. I even noted that the clean up service was very good and what she did with a very caring attitude. I do recommend this hospital and understand the staff is there to help and do the best they can.Victor Lasher⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedOur daughter was born here and the staff was excellent. We didn’t have any serious complications and while the rooms were not anything to write home about… They were more than adequate. I will say the food was a little on the blah side of things… But again, the nurses were top notch and really made us feel like we were cared for while we were there. We’d go here again.Kristie LoonamNot only was I a volunteer back in the day, I had all 3 of my kids at this hospital cause it was the best in the area. Now its nothing more than a poor excuse for a doc in the bix. My mother in law on SEVRAL occasions has been left to sit in her own excrement while nursing staff cant be bothered to help. Talk to administration you say? HA! WHAT A JOKE! Im telling you the founders of this place are rolling in their grave DO NOT GO HERE unless you are unable to talk. Horrible and complete lack of care. Youd be better off going to burger king across the road for medical care. At least then the people ment to help you wouldnt ignore your needs.Anesia LucasWorse service ever the tech that done my ekg was very unprofessional bragging about the cowboys losing and come in to my room bragging more and just very rude to me did say one word to me,the guy names was Charles very rudeRuthie ForestalMEDICALLY NEGLIGENT. GO TO SENTARA NORFOLK GEN IF YOU CAN. The doctor that I had the unfortunate joy of interacting with looked at me as if I were another black woman trying to secure pills for a drug fix rather than looking at me objectively and helping me accordingly. Presenting with severe knee pain, off the bat I was forced to walk around the hospital to be led to my room (even though I could barely walk) the tech leading me noticed my limp and instead asked the woman behind me if she would have liked a wheelchair. I met the P.A. Lena Sifen was the only doctor I saw ant interacted with. Off the bat as I was I’ve her an overview of my pain, she looked skeptical and basically told me within five minutes that she couldn’t help me. She then sent me for x-rays and made me wait two hours (meanwhile I was silently crying in my room due to pain) and she went in a nurse to stretch, extend, and basically cause me more pain. I was given an inconclusive diagnosis, a knee brace, a script for Motrin (after telling the kind woman that I had been takin it for days and it did absolutely nothing for me), and crutches that weren’t even my height. I literally left the emergency room in much more excruciating pain than I was when I went in. I should have gone to Sentara Norfolk Gen. I would have left with a conclusive diagnosis, solid referrals, and would have been treated like a human being.Hillary UrbancPlease don’t go to this hospital for anything critical. They are medically negligent and don’t know how to handle a patient that can’t breathe.Pro Truck DriverBy looking at the reviews of this hospital I wouldn’t take my dog to it. But about 2 years ago I had no choice but to go to this hospital. I was sitting at a red light on Battlefield Blvd by this hospital when a teenager texting rear ended me. I was taken by ambulance. I complained of neck and lower back pain. NO X-Rays were taken after seeing the doctor. They gave me some pain pills only and released me. The next day I seen our family Doctor and he took many X-Rays. There is no excuse for this this type of action from the hospital. I am fully insured so insurance would have covered the cost. Like I stated earlier, I would not take my Dog to this hospital.Samantha DavisWas misdiagnosed. The er doctor laughed while he was telling me I miscarried which shocked us. Follow up confirmed I hadn’t. Thankfully had a healthy baby girl. Even though I told them I wasn’t paying that bill I thought it was squared away until I go to buy a house and find out I can’t because of the outstanding bills they charged me almost five years ago. Not happy with Chesapeake Regional at all right now!Bryan MeissnerWent to the smaller facility first they couldn’t do the xrays after waiting for over an hour they finally took the two labs and still had to stick me even though I had a pic line. Then to the main hospital trying to find parking good luck there is none. Then I had to wait another 40 minutes to get re registered and then i had to wait again for another 30 minutes. Being a veteran I had better service at the va hospital and that is saying something. If I would have come here for my sepsis I’m sure it would have killed me. You would be better off at a back yard butcher at least they’d see you in a timely manner. I would never recommend this hospital or any of its affiliates. The federal government move more efficiently than this hospital.Christina MartensI went in to get an abcessed drained post tooth extractions, the PA was the only 1 i saw and all she did was look in my mouth. I never saw a dr or discussed any treatment options. The PA insisted i be referred to an oral surgeon even though i made it clear i dont have dental insurance. No treatment was done so my face is still swollen and i am in a massive amount of pain. And on top of it im gonna get sent a bill for this nonsense. Thanks for nothing and i will never go there for care againjosh WilliamsSo first of all I think Chesapeake General Hospital is Ridiculously uneducated staff in the MRI OR ER better yet the emergency waiting room this guy had a therapy dog that he need for a disabled reasons although veterans have right to have what they need to live instead of these uneducated people that don’t have good use of protocol for hospitality industry. But the owner of your hospital is probably a newb to this hospitality industry I’m sorry but your food sucks and your staff need help really badly and good luck with keeping up with your uneducated staff. See you soon with a lawyer people.H Caprio⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedKind and professional care.Mr. ScarecrowaHThree hours in an emergency room with no people. Enough said.James Scott⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff is very kind and informativekevin jonesPlace is very unprofessional. Nursing is substandard. Won’t Infuse meds ordered by doctor’s. Missing scheduled meds while in stay visit. Nursing over reacting to situations causing harm when other nurses or patient has solution to the problem. Think the morgue would be better equipped to help you then this place. Need to do a better job hiring qualified personnel.Evelyn LambI went about 6:41 on 1/23/17, because of the pain I was having in my left elbow down to my fingers. First of all you go in an there is no Triage nurse. Maybe waited 15 minutes for him to come to the desk. Then he and 2 security officers began to talk. A nurse comes out and calls two people. One if those people should have been me. Finally get to registration, that was pretty quick. Then I’m assuming she was the charge nurse, because she said let’s get them back their we have beds. Yes you did way down the hall in the observation unit. Then you wait until the nurse comes in. Monica was nice until she says what brings you here today? First of all you do have my chart. Then she says, well it’s not emergent, so I have to wait unit the doctor tells me whether to order an Cray on not. Finally Dr. Parker comes in asked me the same dang question. And proceeds to tell me that this was not the place for that kind of pain that i was having in my elbow. He asked me if I had a pcp. I told him yes. He says you should have gone to her first. I remember when you could go to CRH and be seen for anything. Hopefully I want have to come back there! Evelyn LambCandance⭐️⭐️⭐️ETA someone from the hospital did call me to explain and apologize. They said they will try to explain the process better to future patients. I do appreciate the effort. Worst experience I’ve ever had at a hospital. This morning I went to urgent care for heart palpitations. EKG showed a problem, so they sent me to the ER at Chesapeake General. After a 20 minute wait, a technician took me to a side room for a new EKG. This was before any kind of registration. Never saw my ID. All she had to go on was the name I told her. I tried to show her the order from the doctor, but she wasn’t interested. She ran the EKG on me for 10 seconds and then told me to return to the lobby. It was dirty, smelly, and very crowded. Some woman was going around taking pictures of random people in the lobby, so that caused a big argument, and security intervened. After another wait when we were no closer to progress, we just gave up and left. I’ll have to find a cardiologist.Waterboi⭐️⭐️⭐️Collections surprised me with a phone call about a bill that i never received. The facility got my address right and i received the bill from them but the rude Dr. did not. He verbally confirmed my address to me and still wrote it down wrong therefore, my bill never came. I even told them I was a veteran and it needed to be sent to them and not me in the first place. They did not get that right neither. Very unsatisfied because this will likely hit my credit and I have never had a single hit on my score.Jessica ChackoA man came in while I was there with all the symptoms of a heart attack. His mother had to hold him up. The staff are polite but to this gentleman they were hesitant and slow to help him. It was such a sad thing to see. Both mom and son were crying. Like I said, the staff are polite people but no one ever wants to see a mother plead with staff to please help their son and see them do very little.Zachary RossDon’t waste your time here it may be the closest hospital to you, but waiting in rush hour traffic on the way to Norfolk is well worth it, plus it’s around about the same time as you would see a rude nurse at Chesapeake. It’s a shame because there are some people there that actually care or atleast want to get their job done so i apologize to those people but something needs to be done here. No need for a sugar coated educated response asking about my experience either im sure you all have been hearing the same thing for years just fix the problems. ThanksYell Yell T.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedClean, fast, improved service in the ER. I delivered three of my children here and had no problems. I loved all the staff and the food was delicious!Sarah Bartheabsolute worst hospital I’ve ever been. My dad still hasn’t seen a doctor after his EKG. there’s no pillows, we’ve been here for an hour and he’s a stage 4 cancer patient they havnt even given him anything for pain yet and he’s in extreme pain. everyone seems angry and the nurses have no because manner. Horrible!ChristinaSon treated last week for kidney stones, Dr surgically placed a stent, stayed overnight schedule for surgery a week later. Came in the day before surgery, pain at level 10, he is suffering, said it’s torture, urine filled with blood, so far been in the waiting room 2 1/2 hours with absolutely no relief. TRIAGE IS A JOKE! Riving in pain, shaking uncontrollably. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!KareBearLong waits and billing will screw you up for years. No one takes responsibility for giving misinformation. I’ll never return here, which is sad because the medical team is fairly good.Real Review⭐️⭐️Well, I”ll leave a review in hopes someone sees and saves there time and money. DON’T go in there inless you think your having a heart attack, stroke, or broke a bone. They will NOT treat you for pain. I went in for tooth pain. I sat for 2 hours before I saw a doctor. Then I hear that they cannot give out pain meds. So then I need to wait another hour for doctor to sign me out. Save your time! It’s a shame we can’t get help for pain, it’s not like we are getting HUGE prescription. I went in at around 11pm on a Saturday night, left at 4am with no treatment. Not what a hospital should do. No compassion at all.Jackie Bailey⭐️⭐️⭐️Horrible service in the ER. Sent here from Patient First with acute abdominal pain and note from them saying suspected appendicitis, needs to be seem asap. Ive been sitting in the ER waiting room for 2 hours. The triage nurse only glanced at the info from the Dr. at Patient First at gave it back to me. They made sure they called me back to get my billing Iinformation. If my appendix bursts my family is going to own CRMC!!!!Jewell SantiagoWorst Care for service in VA in my experience. I actually hate that my mother lives in a area where when she needs care the first place they take her it to this poorly run hospital. The staff gets attitude when you ask for progress she’s been here 3 hrs and still not has not been assigned a doctor. When I asked for the patient care number the male nurse didn’t know called Kala & she too did not provide it. I stood there trying to get someone to “Care” for my mother as two Dr.’s & nurse talk about Lab rats & everything else but help patients get the care they need. There Care was not to care as the male nurse continue to eat pop-tarts lied saying he would get me the #for patient care, then walked away, pull a cup from the cabinet got a something to drink. Never return waiting for me to walk alway. As always Ignore. SAD!Alyssa StephanWorst experience I’ve ever had at a hospital! I was badly bitten by a dog, came into the waiting room bleeding through the wrap I had on. It took 2 hours just to get checked in! Luckily the nurse at the front door who’s name escapes me right now actually wrapped up my arm. 4 hours later once im in my room I finally see a Dr I’m STILL OPENLY BLEEDING INTO A TOWEL, the least you “doctors can do is give me something to clean my blood off with!! Now I’m waiting for shots and loose stiches, which will take another 4 hours I’m sure. I’ve also been holding my pee this whole time because someone pissed all over the only bathroom I’ve seen in the building. This shouldn’t even be classified as a elementary school nurse’s office let alone a hospital!!Matthew Backens⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy wife had 2 kids there.
