Before you go to Crouse Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Syracuse emergency room think.
Ana Orick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedCrouse maternity wing staff was so attentive and sweet. I had a very difficult birth and they just made sure I was as comfortable as possible and I felt like I was in good hands through out the whole process.Michelle HutchisonThis place needs to be SHUT DOWN! My father was admitted after being confused and in pain. They didn’t even get the first test done until he had been there for two days. He was there for 2 weeks and they only did 3 tests never gave him a diagnosis. Never would give us updates on what was taking so long or what they found but before they finally sent him home gave him a shot of morphine for his back. WELL they overdosed him! Once he got home he fell and the ambulance took him to a different hospital where they had to administer 3 doses of Narcan!E WerbeckIf there were a minus category, I would give them a minus 5. Substandard nursing care, dirty floors, overflowing trash, major safety issues. They left my mother in a bloody gown for more than 24 hours, when I asked for a clean gown the girl said “we don’t have any clean linen”. It became abundantly clear that these nurses are union workers. UNACCEPTABLE!rekrap raibOnly one doctor had any decent bedside manner. Took forever to get my knee looked at and both the rooms I was put in were disgusting. One had blood stains (and some other stains that I couldn’t identify) and the other had a random urine sample and dirty gloves. Should be shut down due to awful care and terrible cleanliness.Phylis Vrooman⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHad surgery two weeks ago. I’m allergic to Cold. They took great care of me. From warming iv to warming blankets. Great job. They had warm ginger ale when I came out. They are kind and caring. Thank you taking such good care of meLauren McGovernMother had knee surgery. Little to no care from staff. During her stay of 4 days only 1 nurse actually looked at her knee. Her incisions were not checked for the first 24 hours nor her spinal tap area!!! Her heart and lungs were not checked at all. Nurses gave meds (delayed though) but rarely checked in. The negligence is ridiculous.Kim WalshMiscommunication between nursing staff and physicians. Waited almost 11 hours. The nursing staff mad fun of a guy who came in naked calling him their boyfriend. Terrible place. I am shocked by the lack of professionalismFouad Arshad⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy wife delivered here and the quality of care was fantastic. RN Rachael and Dr. Berry were absolutely amazing as were the nurses and doctors in recovery. The adminstrative side of the hospital was a little slow, but the quality of the people there more than makes up for any delay.Tammy Pietrowski⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️We were up on the 6th floor, waiting for my stepfather to get settled in his room. He had surgery on his knee. So myself, mom and sister waiting in the hall. I kept hearing this gentleman yelling for help. “Help me please help me. ” there were 2 nurses standing right outside this gentleman room. Not once did they look up from there computers. The gentleman was getting louder and then he swore. One nurse over by the big desk said omg that was not necessary. I said to her he has been asking for help and no one has gone into help. I know this because I was standing there the whole time intill that nurse went in and said hi, sir how can I help you. He said I just want to go to the bathroom. I was appalled at the lack of concern on amy of the nurses except the one who went in to help him. In so worried about my stepfather because he had to rely on the nurses for help. My daughter is going to be a rn soon I just hope she never loses her compassion. Very disappointedOswyn Herrera⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedIn and out fast in the A.M. Treated me with Reapwxt and well educated me. Answered all my questions and were very patient for a patient.Shauna Jane Silvester⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedBest day of my life, giving birth to my son Elijah. Excellent care and support for us both! Thank you so muchski2edge⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedNice staff from a visitor prospective.Ilze Dempsey⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI could not recommend Crouse enough. Every single staff member we encountered was kind, compassionate, and caring. We were in shock that the doctor sat and talked to us for half an hour, ensuring that all of our questions were answered. The “care in progress” waiting room situation was a little strange, but it helped reduce the time we spent sitting and waiting in one spot. I only wish my local hospitals would take a hint from Crouse!Abdulfattah Zaid⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAfter we had our first kid here, we decided to have the second here too. Excellent nursing staff and the pediatrics division is wonderful. My wife and I are thankful for this hospital. We are especially grateful for Nurse. Angela Quirino who was extremely helpful explaining every single detail to us, and she is one of the reasons that made us traveling a long journey from NY city to Syracuse just to have the baby delivered here but worth it for sure. Thank you all for three days of peace inside the hospital and i wish you all bright future.Joshua Ballew⭐️⭐️⭐️I spent nearly 7 months there all in all, they did a fantastic job with my brain tumor. My brain surgeon Dr.Palladino was amazing and so were his staff. Unlike the other hospitals in Syracuse, tv is free as well. I had a few issues here though. They are very packed on the floors and under staffed. It takes a very long time for your nurse too get to you. I’m on a narcotic called Suboxone and one of the nurses kept folding it strange when she gave it too me, I unfolded it one night to find out it was missing a huge piece. Turns out she was stealing it, I reported it immediately and was reprimanded for informing the wrong person of the issue. The nurse was neither drug tested or questioned. They literally covered it up and didn’t bother doing a thing about it. I don’t blame the hospital because they did so what I was there for and took take of my problems but I blame certain individuals. I would only recommend the Neuro department. If you want to come here for anything else. don’t.Jessie Harris⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had surgery 4/18/19 and was on 5 north for recovery. I must say the doctor, resident staff, anesthesiologists, and mostly the nurses, were the most kind and empathetic professionals I could have asked for. I had an extremely positive experience with this hospital and staff and would not hesitate to return should I ever need to.Mrs. RedI tried to make appointment with Dr. Matthew Gorman in Crouse Hospital for my husband’s heart surgery for three times and front desk lady weren’t helpful at all. We have all medical records from Cardiologist from Mercy Hospital in Miami. We want to do surgery in Crouse Hospital because it’s close to our family to get better healing and more support from family. Dr. Frey staff requesting Dr. Matthew Gorman staff to call their direct number so they can send all the medical records. Cardiologist Mercy Hospital Miami office are very helpful and willing to to give all medical records to Crouse hospital. We gave the number to Crouse hospital front desk lady at Dr. Matthew Gorman’s office but they had lots of excuses and rude. My husband called for three times and my Mom in law called just this morning. They hung up on my husband and my Mom in law when they were still talking. They don’t care about someone’s life need medical treatment immediately. This is regarding life threatening and this people don’t even care for a bit. This is against their mission they put in website “ Our mission is to provide the best in patient care by exceeding the expectations of our patients and to promote community health.” They clearly don’t do the best for patient care and they clearly don’t exceed the expectation from their patient! This experience also against their vision and values. One of their values is “ Respect – honor, dignity and trust”. They clearly don’t respect us. This is beyond unbelievable and not how hospital should be treating their patient or future patient. This morning after my Mom in law got hang up but the cardiologist office. I called the Crouse Hospital patient complaints and spoke with Diane. I told her what happened how my husband tried to follow up from Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday. On Tuesday, when he called the front desk even said “oh i just got here i don’t know anything”. You don’t have to rudely answer like that when my husband did all efforts to follow up if they had the medical record from Mercy Hospital or not and when the appointment will be. Put yourself on his shoes, he just got diagnosed his heart condition is getting worse and he want to do surgery in Syracuse close to his family. He may or may not live longer even he has this surgery. And when he tried to make appointment he got all this difficulties. How stressful that can be? Diane from patient complaints called the cardiologist office and Tracy office manager called me that they have his medical records and urgent referral from Cardiologist Mercy Hospital Miami but they can’t schedule any appointment because of their accusation that my husband is yelling to the staff and he got blacklisted from Crouse Hospital for any kind of appointment. Wow this is just beyond unbelievable. You know my husband’s life in danger but instead of saving live you want someone’s hang on die and beyond that accused and discriminate him. Why did none of your stuff told this when my husband’s called and you waited to tell this until I called patient complaints dept. I was there when he called and he wasn’t yelling. He has deep voice but not yelling. He can’t even yell because if he is yelling his heart stop beating and thats not good. He told them how stressful and unprofessional it is to make appointment. Furthermore, why did the cardiologist office hang up on my Mom in law this morning instead of telling her this? Why did you tell this to me after I called patient complaints? They let someone’s life in danger and could be die waiting for appointment. Discrimination in this world is real. We just witnessed another one today. Go somewhere else to spend your money for medical reasons. Hospital is where you can save life but this hospital discriminate and don’t have empathy or intention to save life.Dorothy Marshall⭐️⭐️I was in labor and delivery, they put you in a room and forget about you. Everyone was nice and friendly. It’s just the whole point of waiting an hour and a half for discharge papers. The first time I came her they forgot about me and forgot that I was here in a room. Very frustratingBabbette YatesOh no my mother in law is there now I’m the fight for her life – after reading these reviews I’m crying . I am a nurse please Lord help her and help the drs find the cure 1 month and they still are stumped with rheumatic fever – come on guys if you can’t treat discharge her to a place that can . And please do not try and discharge her to her hubby with dementia ! I run the largest home health care agency in SC I know your laws and will be praying for help .. I wish I was there I’ll be there in 8 days !Ellen Leethey use you as a class model as a dummy, they are very threatening to patients. they force you to be a class human body model. I was injured.donald buckley⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedVery caring and professional health care the best in cnyRoger Green Sr⭐️⭐️Poorly staffed and ran. I’ve been here 5 days. I was put in a corner room as to be unnoticed most of the time. I’ve rang my call Bell for the nurse and it took her 35 minutes to respond. The final straw is I was promised I could shower to relax and go to sleep at 7 pm…here it is 9:30 and I still haven’t received a shower. I’ll try my chances elsewhere next timeJohn Patrick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️If you don’t have a life threatening emergency do not go. For all “non emergency” issues which they themselves deem to be non emergencies they put you in a real room with a bed for 10-15 min and act like there taking care of you. They then do some tests and or imaging. But Then they take you out of that room and make you sit in this new room they built in the back. It’s a new process they implemented and it’s awful. The new “after you’ve been seen waiting room” becomes so packed and no one comes to tell you what’s going on. You just sit there. Even a lady with a iv just sat there. And please note they were not that busy. There were open rooms all over which I saw. They literally put you in a real hospital room but then take you out and put you in this new waiting room while your waiting on your results. It’s pure hell. Whoever implemented this new polIcy is a complete moron and should be fired. It’s worse than an urgent care because they act like they give you a hospital room only to take you out and make you wait on a chair. So please please do not go here unless you have a real bad emergency then they might let you stay in your room. Otherwise go to urgent care or a different hospital where they keep you in a room like a real human being; And not cart you around rooms in and out of rooms like cattle.World of ImaniI don’t trust them…Tisha TeshJennifer that answer the phones I believe she a receptionist is very rude she do not know how to talk to ppl if she don’t like her job she needs to get a new oneLoriel KingTheir Service Is Very Slow. If You Dont Have A Real Emergency Then Be Prepared To Be Waiting Forever. If i Could Give Them 0 Stars I Would, Be Here Since 10:30am It Is Now 6:31pm And They Still Have Yet To Bring Back My Results This Is Ridiculous!!!!Car ReviewsThe Unprofessionalism here is real as a heart attack. As they don’t care for either.Beverly HorningTerrible experience after total knee replacement. Dr Kopko is wonderful but the care on the floor is pretty much non existent. Wait hours for pain meds when you are in tears with the pain. Alarms go off for hours and are unattended. Ice delivery machine kept turning off because they didn’t know how it worked even after the rep showed them. Yelling, laughing in the halls all night. No way to wash up brush your teeth or hair. Horrible care. AND put on a bedpan without the curtain drawn and visitors filing through to see the other patient with me fully exposed.Kayla Porter⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedCaring staff, warm atmosphere. Highly recommendDylan VolkThe lady on the phone who worked Tuesday morning was super rude to me. I expressed my concerns for my own health and not being able to breath and this lady rudely told me it’s not that bad and while I was defending myself about my asthma and how tight my chest was she hung up. She had attitude the whole til so I called again for the supervisor and she said she would ask around who took the call but I highly doubt anything will happen. The services always suck and take forever so that’s why I called. Never trusting them again. Not the first time they have been rude and unhelpful.Katie Littlefield⭐️⭐️General review: insensitive and uninterested in their patients. Have been there a handful of times for different reasons based on convenience (closest hospital). I will not make this mistake again. My most recent visit was for a knee injury (couldn’t straighten my leg or walk/ put weight on it without extreme pain). I had just gotten back from an out of state trip and went straight to the hospital from the airport because I knew it would be a long wait once at the hospital. I would”ve rather gone to urgent care but I wasn’t sure if MRI’s would be needed (which they were) and typically the urgent care’s around here only have X-ray machines. I waited a while to be seen , expected at an E.R.. Once in a room I was examined and was told they’d need to do X-rays. I waited about an hour before anyone came in and when they did they asked if I had been taken for imaging yet. I told them I hadn’t and all I knew was that they said I should get an X-ray. This person left and I waited another 45 minutes. At this point I was starting to wonder if they meant I was getting X-rays done here or if this was something I had to pursue on my own. When someone finally came in to bring me to get the X-ray, they came across as frustrated when I told them I wasn’t really able to walk to the imaging room (wouldn’t you look at the chart to see what the reason for the x-ray is? knee injury usually means can’t walk or can’t walk comfortably). By the time someone came back with a wheel chair I had been in this room probably close to a total of 2 and a half hours. The imaging specialist needed different angles of my knee (fair), but I explained that I wasn’t really able to get into the other positions comfortably. She told me I needed to, otherwise there wasn’t really a point to doing this. By this time I was exhausted after traveling for easily 8 hours on a plane, waiting in a hospital for 2.5 hours and getting sass from someone telling me that if I don’t hurt myself more by doing something uncomfortable, the whole process was for naught. So I did the best I could. They wheeled me back to the room I started in to get dressed, then they dropped me off in the “intermediate” waiting room which I stayed in for probably another 45 minutes. I understand that a knee injury isn’t the most pressing thing at a hospital, but they weren’t busy based on the number of rooms I saw open and the amount of people in the waiting room when I first came in. I was ready to just say screw it and leave at this point. They put me into a different patient room where I had no idea what the next step was, or what was really going on and I waited for close to an hour for someone to come in and tell me it wasn’t broken (I could’ve told them that much from the get go, it clearly felt like a soft tissue injury), they couldn’t find anything wrong with it, and to go home and ice it and take pain killers. I was unable to walk, unable to straighten it, and unable to drive (right knee needed for gas and brake). Therefore I was unable to get to work and left with zero answers and over 4 hours wasted. With that all considered and after waiting in the hospital for over 4 hours with incredibly poor patient management and bedside manners to be told to go home and ice it, I was livid. I went to SOS the next day and my knee did in fact have something wrong with it enough to require MRI’s, multiple steroid shots into the joint, medication and months of physical therapy. Needless to say, this last visit to Crouse was the straw that broke this camel’s back. I will never go back to Crouse Hospital again.Livybug⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI have never been there myself expect when I was like an actual fetusRyan CollinsAbsolutely horrifying staff with little to no care. A few great nurses here and there but they are outnumbered by a lot of awful, money grubbing people unfit for medicine. Careless staff giving antipsychotic medication resulting in my mother having to experience hospital delirium for 3 days straight, only to find out they did it because they didn’t want to deal with her, putting her to sleep was the best option? Security guards acting like they’re national security, giving my family trouble every time we visit. Here’s my advice, NEVER SAY “TAKE ME TO CROUSE”, it’s a dirty business covered up, disguised as a hospital. They don’t care enough about families, they care about their insurance premiums. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR FAMILY THERE ALONE.Edward Smith⭐️⭐️⭐️Very slow emergency roomAudrey HandInconsiderate staff. When a patient is expressing concern for themselves, explaining their symptoms, explaining their worries; it is your job to listen. Instead the lady the hung up the phone to a patient who was calling in regards to going to the er for breathing problems connected to asthema. People who are in this profession and getting paid to be there as well, should be able to handle this in a more professional way. You are in a profession that is supposed to save lives. Instead this hospital employs people who obviously don’t have any regard to someone else’s life.Sarah Nash⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was caught between a retired physician and a back surgery. Waiting 3 weeks on a referral that never transpired. I was in such bad shape I’m so much pain that I could barely walk. Crouse gave me choices and treated me so wonderful. The nurses on weekend night shift are amazing. Everyone was great. I wouldn’t go to any other ER for emergencies.Don ToweryCrouse misdiagnosed my gallbladder attack as “constipation” back in November. I had 2 more attacks that I attempted to treat with laxatives and stool softener thanks to Crouse’s lack of effort and knowledge. Finally, this past week, Upstate Community Hospital correctly diagnosed the issue and removed my gallbladder and a large stone that was lodged in my main bile duct. Save yourself the pain and say anything BUT “take me to Crouse”!Ron Blairwithout a doubt the worst hospital in the city. just had a baby and in a matter of 4 days spent they screwed my wife’s c-section, mismanaged her pain meds, botched my sons circumcision, and misplaced legal documents with my personal info on them to be put on his birth certificate. now i need to have my son undergo surgery again when he is 6 months old to fix the botched circ, and i have to go through a nightmare process of fixing his birth certificate. save yourself a lot of headache and go ANYWHERE ELSE. giving birth in the back of a broken down pickup would go better than walking into this mismanaged train wreck that calls itself a hospital, slices and dices you, botches every scrap of paperwork, then sends you a massive bill in the mail.Nancy Radecki⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGreat staff in every aspect of my experience. From ER to Surgeon to RN to Phlebotomist and to IV Tech. Everyone was skilled, knowledgeable, and friendly. The hospital itself, while dated, was clean and comfortable. I was glad I chose Crouse for my gall bladder removal. Plus they do Robotic surgeries, which is much better.Oretha S⭐️⭐️Terrible service. I had severe abdominal pain and I wasn’t seen until 15 minutes later by one of the nurses. Then I had to wait an additional 20 for the PA to come, only for her to tell me that “there’s nothing she could really do” the only thing she did was give me some type of numbing liquid to help the pain a little. Then come to find out I had to pay $200 for nothing. Never going to the hospital again.Sandra Acquaviva⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy dear Sister-in-law Cathy A. lost her fight with SCLC, Nov. 8 2018. She was admitted and treated with the utmost respect and caring during her final days. She has many siblings and her 96 yr old mother, whom the staff could not have been kinder to, when we basically took over the room, they brought us chairs, refreshments, and could not do enough to make all of us as comfortable as possible during this trying time. Maggie her 4th floor, day shift nurse was a great comfort to us all and will stay in hearts with her kindness. Her loving care and gentle nature made Cathy feel more like a family member than a patient. I cannot say enough about all of her caretakers. I do not remember everyone’s name but you are in my heart forever, for taking such wonderful care of her. Thank you.Melody JordanMy mom was discharged from crouse irving hospital. A cab was called for her. It was suppose to pick her up at 6pm. The nurse brought her down to the lobby. Now 3 hours later my mom is sitting in the lobby waiting for a cab to pick her up. I called to check to see where she was. The nurse said she was discharged at 6pm. I asked where my mom was. Its now 8pm. No one checked to see if my mom got into a cab or not. If i had not of called she would still be sitting there not knowing if she was getting a cab home or not. Its now almost 9pm. My mom is still waiting for a cab. My mom arrives at home at 9:15. The nurse should of checked on her or sent someone to make sure my mom got into the cab ok.Chelsey Lee⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I went to Prompt Care to begin with hoping I had just a vitamin deficiency, but the PA on call there was rude and belittled me as a patient. I was beyond less than impressed with his bed side manner. However, I was sent over to the ED and was taken care of pretty well. I was set up for a cat scan almost immediately, and following that I was set up with a neurology resident Tom Pitts, who was beyond amazing. He was more than enthusiastic to help me with everything that I was having issues with, and seemed more concerned with my ability to improve than any other Dr. I have ever been to. I was profoundly impressed by his bed side manner. He was everything you would hope a Dr. would be when you are in a medical facility anxious, and worried while waiting for prognosis. Soon after they set me up to have 2 MRIs to rule out possibilities. I didn’t receive my results before I left because the radiologist was not in, which is understandable being a Sunday. But it was frustrating the following day trying to follow up for reports when the clerical staff just kept transferring my call in a circle. Eventually I just called my neurologist and asked him to retrieve the reports and call me with the final word. All in all I was pleased with the level of care I received. The last time I had an issue that needed prompt care I went to Upstate, and received far less appealing care, and absolutely no tests and was told to go to a specialist despite the level of urgency my issues were causing. Not all Drs are amazing, and I am pretty thankful that I was lucky enough to have some caring individuals help me through what was a difficult time for me.Jeff Premo⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis hospital was the best I’ve seen all people were very pleasant and niceLaura Konefal⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI delivered my first baby via cesarean on Friday. The nursing staff has been absolutely incredible. Through my very long labor and post labor, I honestly cannot believe the quality of care. The antestelogist that worked so hard with my spinal deserves the doctor of the year award. Nurse Courtney, Amanda, Kelli, and Audrey, and so many others, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. My husband and I are so blessed to have our Anna. Thank you all ❤️.Laura Witt⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAll the nurses and staff here always manage to have a smile on their faces, which is amazing, as they even manage it for my extremely racist and sexist father, and as his daughter, I can’t even manage that. I’m glad they keep his room door closed most of the time, otherwise, if someone heard the vile things spewing out of his mouth, they might consider smothering him with a pillow. I know I am.Gabrielle KekedakisI think the quality of patient care in this atmosphere is none existent. A friend recently had major surgery and laid in her bloody saturated sheets pretty much all day. Until someone who could advocate for the patient actually said something. Overall nurses on 6 North and South were horrible Brigid Z⭐️⭐️⭐️My mom had heart issues she had to wait all night without a cardiologist since there is no overnight cardiologist in the hospital.Danielle Edwards⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe people at Crouse were amazing for my Mom. Very kind, willing to answer questions and friendly! She was well taken care of while there! I can’t thank the faculty and staff enough!neo0501⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThey saved my new born premature baby boy and were great to my wife for her 7 week stay. Nothing bad to say about this hospital at all. Only negative is that NICU staff is over worked and needs better oversight.
