Good Samaritan Medical Center Reviews

Before you go to Good Samaritan Medical Center, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Lafayette emergency room think.

Jennifer Austin⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy grandpa got a private limo complete with lights. The ER nurses were the sweetest and lovely people. When he was transferred to his room the RN we have was the sweetest and caring lady ever. I’m so thankful for everything they’ve done so far. Hopefully the stay is short. Thank you all!Kimberly Schmit⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedA family member recently had the opportunity to check in here. First it was the ER, then transfer to a private room. The entire time my family member was here, he was treated very well. The ER was absolutely packed the night he was taken there, but everything was done in an orderly fashion. There were plenty of employees on hand, which helped to make thing run smoothly. As I have already stated, my family member was transferred to a private room late that night. When we visited the next day, everything was orderly, clean, quiet, and nice. The hospital is very clean, things are marked with easy to read signage too. We had the opportunity to eat in the cafeteria, which is your average cafeteria. There is a Grill, for burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, and fries. There are ready made salads, as well as a salad bar, drinks, and other snacks. The price is a little high, but it’s what you expect. There is plenty of parking, so don’t worry about that. They are open all hours, and ready to help you with any of your needs. When it came time to check out, the nurse noticed something else about my family member, which was immediately taken care of. Thank goodness! Thanks, Good Samaritan, for taking wonderful care of my family member. It was truly appreciated at a very stressful time.Audra Benavidez⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedSeriously this hospital is hands down the best hospital I have ever experienced. Everything is on point. Everyone does an amazing job. It felt more like a a mini vacation when giving birth to our sweet Audie Sue. This is an example of what health care should be like. A very well oiled machine .Cordelia Powell⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI have been a patient at Good Samaritan many times. In the emergency room, as an inpatient and having outpatient tests. The doctors, nursing staff and techs are excellent! I feel confident in going there that my health is in good hands and everyone is very friendly and kind regardless of how busy they are. I also like having all of my records in the same hospital and my doctor is part of this network- SCL.Peggy McCoy⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy husband was brought by ambulance to the emergency room. He has dementia and was very confused and not always cooperative. He was treated with such kindness and good humor by everyone who interacted with us. I am VERY grateful!Beverly Morgan⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy mom went to the E.R three times and was admitted two of those times this month. She was on the fourth floor the first admission and from beginning to end the stay was pleasant. Second admit she started out on 2nd floor Observation and the care there was amazing I wish I could remember all the nurses, Techs, Respiratory, Dialysis’s names> I stood the night with my mom and she got the best care. The Doctor was just so informative and Gentle. When the staff said they would be back to check on my mom or give her a treatment they kept their word. Dialysis nurse was busy when I went to go see my mom during her treatment and he got me in the hall to see if I had a questions and let me know what was going on with my mom. They kept me in the loop and we made a plan to get my mom better. The communication was amazing and lets don’t forget about the monitor techs that monitored my moms telemetry and 02 sat. They called the nurse right away when they seen oxygen go down. They deserve so much recognition for they are life savers that are not seen. The hospital was so clean and quiet. Every department was so nice and offered assistants if needed. even respiratory offered to get me a blanket. I can’t say enough good things about the staff but Thank you It ment so much to me and my mom felt safe. Thank you Happy Holidays Renee Morgan DaughterAmber Knapp⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe’ve delivered both our children there and have been impressed with the attentive and caring staff. I have recommended Good Sam to other expectant friends and they’ve all had similar experiences. You truly feel supported and well taken care of throughout the process!AC Anderson Update: The hospital confirms that this disregard of proper medical practice is their normal standard of care. Not surprising. Their doctors have a very poor grasp of pharmacology, which is terrifying given the setting. Their doctors flagrantly perform malpractice and lie in their medical records. This hospital is a disgrace to the medical profession. They told me the wound on the left would heal fine, did a mental health eval while I was still sedated, and shipped me to a hospital where I wouldn’t have access to medical care. The photo on the right is a week later, when a surgeon evaluated it as needing immediate surgical treatment and IV antibiotics as at that point I was going septic. ETA: The photos are graphic so Google isn’t posting them.Tracey Scalia⭐️⭐️⭐️Really nice staff!Horrible management. Hire a couple of PAs for your ER to handle minor issues. Don’t skimp because of money. The wait times are criminal. Would use urgent care if they were open.Pat Miller This hospital has really gone down hill. I just got out of the hospital two days ago and I’m not much better than when I went in. I have been there a few times in the past. The last time in 2014. The care and professionalism of the doctors is nowhere near where it use to be. So sad because it use to be a great hospital before it was bought by SCL. I will not go there again.Ginger Ridenour⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedEveryone is so nice and professional it’s almost like being cared for by family. I have had several surgeries, ER visits and other in and out patient procedures done at this hospital over the past 7 years and would recommend them to everyone.Cole Wilson⭐️⭐️⭐️Delivered our baby here and we had an awesome experience with the doctors/nurses/hospital stay, however, everything afterward has been terrible. To summarize, Good Samaritan gave us our hospital bill before leaving, which we paid in full, as I would find it to be the correct thing to do for the services rendered. It looked reasonable for matching what our insurance plan was (they were unable to provide an itemized receipt upon request). However, it turns out that we were not supposed to pay anything close to what our bill was. Unsuccessfully, I attempted to have a productive conversation with them over the phone and in person. Consider this odd, but I was told by the staff at Good Sam that they do not look at or have access to my health insurance plan copays/coinsurance through Kaiser and that the bill we received was just an estimate. They have also found it necessary to professionally point the finger at Kaiser because they had not yet paid Good Sam (Kaiser has informed us that they have yet to receive a statement from Good Sam… 6 weeks later. Kaiser has also informed us that Good Sam does, in fact, have access to our insurance plan and we were told that Good Sam is notorious for doing exactly what they did with us). All in all, this has just been a big case of poor communication between 2 large companies. Kaiser has been helpfully informative and polite throughout the process, while the staff at Good Samaritan has been more worried about defending their decisions, pointing fingers with excuses, and uninterested in improving upon the problems I have brought to their attention. Again, from what we’ve heard this is not uncommon practice for this hospital, so I would advise caution and further inquiry.John Reefe This is the worst hospital that I have ever been in. My doctor sent me to the ER because I had very low sodium levels and my creatine was way higher than usual. He also sent orders for a chest x-ray. I was admitted in overnight, when it was time for my medications at night they didn’t even have the drugs that I have to take daily. My daughter had to go get mine from my house so I could take them. They also never did my chest x-ray. When I called the advocate to ask for some of my money back because of the service they denied and had to pay the whole bill.pitiful.Mary Catherine Cochran⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThere is a peaceful vibe that surrounds this place. The architecture, the landscaping, the colors and quietude and, of course, the kindness and professionalism of the staff all contributed to a wonderful experience.T V⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI have had really bad experiences with this hospital and some of the providers in the ED dept. but NP Kathryn Elsanne Perkins is a gem at Good Sam. My son was hit on the side of his eye with a golf club and needed stitches. NP Kathryn did such an amazing job with the stitches and her bed side manner made this visit the best one I have ever had. Thank you Kathryn!Melissa Nielson Just left The ER after going in with severe abdominal pain. They ran bloodwork, urine, and a CT. When everything came back normal the PA came in and said “well, we don’t know what’s causing it. Follow up with your primary doctor.” My primary doctor had sent me to the ER earlier in the day. I was quickly discharged. They gave me some muscle relaxers and got me out as fast as they could. Also noteworthy is that not ONCE was I asked what medications I was on, while they gave me pills for nausea, pain, etc. If I had to do it again, I’d go somewhere else.Tami Bellender Went to er. A doc never came in.It was all nursing staff and 1 physicians assistant with laryngitis i could not understand. Gave me discharge papers and said exit to the left.Sent home still having chest pains and told nothing. Very unprofessionalism im this hospital. 0* if i could….Zander Martinez⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Took good care of my mom while she was admitted, but Mindy from the ICU is probably one of the rudest nurses I’ve met my whole life, the first night my mom was admitted she says “yea so looks like she’s most likely not gonna make it.” Keep in mind there was nothing that made this factual or indicated that that would happen and me being her youngest son gave her no right to break that kind of news to me the way she did knowing I was there by myself, every other nurse there had offerd me a pillow or blanket or anything at all and at least tried to make me feel better, and I can say for the time I was at Good Samaritan Mindy was rude and the definition of cold ecspecially to people in these situations, maby pick another profession Mindy because this one does not suit you. Doing a job where you don’t have to interact with another human being might be best for you ‍♀️Bobby Bates I’d give 0 stars if that was an option. Before I was even looked at to see what was wrong with me, people were in the room asking me for my personal information for insurance purposes and an officer was in the room asking for proof of insurance on my motorcycle. I was not involved in an accident with any other vehicle or person or property and my error was not due to breaking law, it happened because it was dark and I was on an unfamiliar road, so to need my insurance as soon as I was rolled from the ambulance into the ER room is incredible. I felt the same way from the probing questions from the staff as I was just wheeled into the emergency room in absolute agony. Every member of staff was rude because I was not immediately signing the documents and accepting the full treatment that they recommended. Although I was explaining my reasons for it neither of them respected it, which is okay, but to treat a patient who is in agony poorly because of medical preference is and amazingly horrible characteristic of healthcare professionals. I simply asked to see the X-ray that they took and have somebody show me and explain to me what types of injuries I suffered instead of just telling me what happened and what treatments I should accept. When I ask to see the X-ray I was treated poorly because they felt I should have blindly accepted their treatment and they felt me asking to see and have realtime explanation of my injuries was questioning their medical expertise. Eventually after a while I was told “this side of the hospital closes at 10 p.m. so you either need to admit yourself or leave”. Just like that. It’s the ER. It’s open 24/7 and I could tell it was not a busy night. I asked for pain meds to help with the agonizing pain I was in and was denied any type of treatment or prescription or help because I would not sign and accept their FULL RECOMMENDED treatment. Not partial, but FULL. Even though they knew from the x-ray that I had 3 broken bones (ones that heal without surgery or treatment (ribs, etc). My friend was by my side and witnessed their rudeness and lack of care and was questioning them on why they would treat a patient this way. The response was, “if we’re coming across that way we don’t mean to”. I was eventually able to get up and walk myself out of the hospital. My thought was, if I do need assistance it sure will not be from these Healthcare “professionals”. I’d crawl to a different hospital if I needed care. Doctors and anyone else in the healthcare profession need understand that they go through continuous education and are always “practicing” medicine. They DON’T know it all. And some treatments and medications that are recommended today eventually get found out to be damaging and wrong. I ABSOLUTELY respect them for what they do! They have saved countless lives and have helped countless people so I don’t mean to come across unappreciative or not respectful of them. But these particular “professionals” and the hospital they represent should have taken lessons from the EMTs on how to actually care and respond to and actually help patients. The EMTs were absolutely wonderful! Every cognizant and coherent patient has a right to choose for themselves which treatments they accept and which ones they don’t based off of various reasons. To be treated poorly, and having an all-or-nothing approach to patient care, because of personal choice is absolutely ridiculous. Case in point- Here we are 9 days later and I’m feeling well and have returned to work for the past 3 days. It was clear from the get-go that priority #1 was (insurance info) payment first and care was of secondary concern. Never again will I willingly return to this hospital.carrie nina⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedNever had any problems when I had my gall bladder out They treated me very goodGoldfish Kisses⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had a scheduled surgery done at Good Samaritan and all I can say is good things! I was in for 3 days and was treated like I was important and I always felt like I was in good hands. All the nurses were very helpful and knowledgeable. The other staff people were just as kind. My room was spacious and clean too. Thank you to all the sweeties that work there!!!Gerry Schumacher Male nurse RON. who brought candy for staff. Cursed when I rang bell to get help. Heard him say wait, wait she’s going to have grand mall seizure they dont live very long after that. This was at 3 or 4 o’clock in morning. He was across hall at NURSES station. I got up unhooked my IV and monitors as afraid. I was going to die. I want to know why no mention of this showed up in my medical report. It should have been investigated. I. Should have gotten legal advice. IS RON STILL WORKING THERE?sannerb8 I have had a horrible experience with Good Samaritan and encourage everyone to drive 5 more miles and not use Good Samaritan’s ER. The doctor asked me 2 vague questions and then diagnosed me with something that I did not have. They gave me medicine that made me feel like cockroaches were crawling under my skin and then kicked me out of the ER in a blacked out state. I strongly encourage you NOT to use this hospital! I contacted the hospital about my experience and they supported their actions. Horrific is an understatement.Amber Gray⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHad to go into the ER over the weekend…everyone was so kind and understanding. Obviously having to go to the ER isn’t an ideal situation but I was so comfortable there, it helped a lot during the rough time I was going through. They were so respectful and helpful and did everything to make sure I was taken care of. Very thankful!Rachel Jay If I could give no stars I would. This place doesn’t care about you or trying to help you it’s all about the money. I have severe endometriosis that I’ve had three surgeries for and Dr. Mark Leventhal told me my pain wasn’t sufficient enough for them to help me and to go take a Tylenol! Absolutely ridiculous. This place says they care? They 100% lie! Save your money and go somewhere else!john gallant My gf was supposed to get her nebulizer every 3 to 4 hours, I went out to tell the desk about the situation and it took theminutes to get here it’s hard to see your gf suffered and ant breatheVictoria Le⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGood Samaritan Breast care center is the best! The entire experience has been great! They make sure you are comfortable and put your mind at ease. Everyone was amazing, from the front desk staff to the rad techs and doctors.Frank Beans A police officer with full credentials who arrived to see the birth of his grandson was asked to leave by the hospital director and remove his weapon. He had a badge, cuffs ID all visible. When he returned without all his equipment a nurse said, “we’re all safe now.” Not police friendly.C. FLOW⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThank you to all the nurses in the surgical department from intake to out take the staff was great, I’m not good with names but you’re going to know who you are I thank the intake lady who took a picture of my wonderful cane I thank the lady who checked me in prep me for surgery I thank the nurse that was in my recovery room great job and I thank my doctor and all his teammates you guys did a fantastic job on my leg and I appreciate you God bless you thanks from CurtisBandz Up Thank you for sending me home twice with the same fractured bone ! I really enjoy driving back and forth on a broken bone and not being able to do anything for me ! 3 days later waiting on orthopedic specialist because why ?Janel Lawing Slowest ER ever! No sence of urgency and the place is dirty! Avoid this ER!G. Kunkel⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Good care but they were extremely busy and it took forever.Chris Dow Good Hospital and staff. SCL health is a terrible company so go somewhere else if you are able, you will thank yourself. I have beem to many hospitals over the years and payed over time to many of these companies. SCL health will send you to collections even WHEN YOU ARE MAKING PAYMENTS! They dont care about you or your family, just their money. We have been making payments for 4 mo ths since our daughter was born. Just got a call from a collection company stating they sent our account to them for $1100 dollars, even though we have been paying every month. This company should be ashamed trying to ruin our credit. Do not go here. The hospital is good and employees were amazing and we have insurance. Clearly they just want money and could care less about the human aspect of the health care industry. Billion dollar company, sending us to collection for 1100 dollars while we were paying them. You should be ashamed SCL healthp piskura They screwed up my wifes procedure and put her in the ER. Made so many mistakes. If I had a heart attack right in front of this place, I still wouldn’t go here.Timothy Strong⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedPicc team is the best!rnwanderer77 NOT PLEASED AT ALL WITH MY MOTHER’S MEDICAL CARE HERE! NOT ONLY DID THE PHARMACY FAIL IN DISCHARGING HER WITHOUT HER MOST IMPORTANT NEW CARDIAC PRESCRIPTIONS, THE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN DEPARTMENTS AND WITHIN DEPARTMENTS SEEMED TO BE EXTREMELY DELAYED OR MISSING. THEY ALSO DISCHARGED HER WITHOUT THE ORDER FOR OXYGEN AND THE NEW FACILITY (ASSISTED LIVING) WAS HELPLESS TO PROVIDE IT WITHOUT THAT ORDER. AND I CAN’T GET PAST THEIR PHONE SYSTEM AND INEPT OPERATORS TRYING TO ANSWER PHONES FOR 3 HOSPITALS TO FIND ANYONE TO TRY TO HELP GET THESE ERRORS RECITIFIED!! AND JUST TRY TO LODGE A COMPLAINT OR REQUEST A REVIEW OF THEIR SYSTEMS WHICH FAILED – HA! THEY REALLY DON’T SEEM TO CARE LET ALONE WANT TO TROUBLESHOOT THEIR OWN SYSTEMS TO FIGURE OUT WHY ALL THE ERRORS OCCURRED AND CORRECT THEM SO OTHER PATIENTS DON’T SUFFER FROM THE SAME ERRORS! I AM APPALLED, ANNOYED AND DISGUSTED BEYOND BELIEF – AND I’LL BET THEY DELETE MY REVIEW SO PEOPLE CAN’T READ HOW SCARY AND HORRIBLE THEIR MISTAKES ARE! AS A HEALTHCARE PROVIDER MYSELF, I KNOW WHAT GOOD HEALTHCARE I’VE BEEN TAUGHT TO PROVIDE (AND DO!) AND THIS IS A FAR CRY FROM ACCEPTABLE!!! ABSOLUTELY HEINOUS. IF I COULD PUT ZERO STARS, I WOULD, BUT IT WON’T POST WITHOUT AT LEAST 1 STAR!Gary Parmenter⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedTook an ambulance ride to GOODSAM last week stayed on life support for 2 days and inteneive care for 2 days leaving on the fifth day. ITS WORTH THE RIDE JUST FOR THE FOOD ALONE. To a person the staff were helpful and polite. It usca very well run Hospital.robert king They come up with excuses to keep you longer than need be just to try and get more money. Sat here for 6 hours only seen a doctor 3 times and all they could say is we want to monitor you a little longerScott Cochran⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWow how refreshing. My 89 year old Mom wasn’t feeling good and was admitted here for a couple days. Super nice nurses, doctors and hospital staff. Very clean facilities. 4th floor thank you for being amazing. Physical Therapist “OZ” you rock!Michele Lena Do not use this ER. I went in because my doctors told me to. Not one test was ran. I was in extreme pain and could hardly walk. Everyone was nice and friendly, but I received zero help or care. I called the on call doctor from my doctors office, while at the hospital, and YELLED at him to STOP sending sick people to the ER because they are not being helped. EDIT: Diagnosed with chronic regional pain syndrome. Extremely inhumane treatment of a very sick patient.Christopher Yung⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe had both of our children here. Great staff and facilities.Donald Otis⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI have the fortune of having a number of issues for which one would need a full service hospital. This campus is a coordinated Kaiser center, and had seen us through many procedures, small and large.Ben Abernathy⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedVery professional and friendly staff on the 2nd floor ICU West wing.Harley Hughes⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedBest hospital I have ever been to thanks for all your help and making me feel betterJessica Perkins⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedVery attentive and awesome staff. Went to two other ER’s before coming here and what a mistake that was.Raiden Damiana My child went in for emergency psychiatric care and I felt the drs there were unwilling to work with me. I was not contacted to discuss where my child was to be placed. When I expressed my concerns of possible abuse from the facility where they decided they were sending my child, I was told that they were not willing to stop the process. I have worked with many hospitals for similar circumstances and this is the only one that has ever done this. Every other hospital I have ever been to was quick to make sure my child did not go to a facility I have expressed concerns about. The nurses were awesome and as helpful as they could be, but the drs and upper management and the patient advocacy people were rude and I have never had that many people lie to my face about what they were doing. I would rate 0 but that’s not an option.Robert Graf Have a family member there. Staff dont care. Ask them a question an they say what you want to hear an leave. Not sure if a doctor even work at this place never seen one.Joel Coopersmith Took a friend to their ER last night. Horrible service, VERY VERY slow. One of the nurses actually laughed at my friend because he was in pain. Incomplete medical diagnosis just to get it over and done with and get him out of there. No care or empathy at all for the patient. I would NEVER recommend this ER to anyone. There are SO MANY better choices for emergency health care, why go to this worthless one?L M⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedA family member had surgery here, it as a big deal and i can’t thank this hospital enough. Very professional and kind. Clean and services exceed expectations.Eric Walsh⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThank you to everybody who helped me out today at the ER. This was my first time here and had an emergency. There was no wait and my vitals were taken immediately. I was in a room within 5 minutes of being there and they take heart issues and chest pain VERY VERY serious. I was treated with respect and want to thank the Nurses, Doctors, and staff who helped me today. The only issue I had was the parking lot getting to the Emergency Room. Make sure you follow the signs around the building if you need the ER.Kristen Lundy⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHad my baby girl here earlier this month and couldn’t have had a better experience with the staff. I spent three days in the hospital after a long induction and felt very supported the entire time. Pamela was our nurse and provided us with the most amazing care. You could tell that she really loves what she does! Will be back for Baby #2!Tammi Annecharico My brother was brought in today by ambulance because of his level of intoxication. Hes an alcoholic. They did keep him for a while to sober him up…but released him knowing hes got a loaded gun ready. I live far away and he has no one to stay with him. The lady that called the ambulance told them all of this but said they were rude with her when she asked if they’d keep him through DTs. Nope they sent him home even though hes admitted to having seizures. Nothing better than to make a depressed alcoholic man feel like hes worth nothing to not help him when hes down. Oh he lost his good job years ago due to drinking..so he has no insurance. Maybe that’s why he doesn’t matter to them.Michael Marquardt Ineffective treatments and no regard for patient safety or privacy. Tip to Gloria in patient relations: If you get a call from an upset patient, try not to be accusatory.susan serfis⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy husband was admitted here while we were on a visit from NY. We are incredibly impressed with the professionalism, compassion and care he received at this wonderful facility. Thank you.Michelle Bokone⭐️⭐️The hospital experience and nursing care was great. The case management team is not! They insisted on transporting my mother from the hospital to the physical rehab facility via AMR ambulance service, rather than letting us drive her ourselves. The case manager, Sue Lynn, insisted this is the only way for everything to be covered by insurance. Not only was AMR terrible, but it wasn’t covered by insurance at all! They charge by the mile and drove my mother 30 miles out of the way – adding nearly an hour to her transport between the hospital and physical rehab center. The ambulance was in very poor condition, and they just strapped the wheelchair in the back “cargo” space – a metal echo-chamber. My mother was completely rattled when she arrived at the rehab facility. The driver was rude and denied that they are paid by the mile, but the invoice shows that they are paid by the mile. The ride was booked by the hospital and was supposed to be covered by insurance, but AMR billed my mother directly and then bullied her for a payment of $460 – saying the wheelchair rental wasn’t covered by insurance. We have our own wheelchair and would have provided it if they or the hospital had been forthcoming. What a scam! Be aware if the hospital insists on booking the AMR ambulance service for you, and be clear about what will and won’t be covered by your insurance!Peter⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER Recommended
