Before you go to Lutheran Medical Center, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Wheat Ridge emergency room think.
Kristi KellyI went there for a visit that lasted less than 2 hours when I thought I had cracked my skull with a head injury. Turns out it was just a bad concussion. I had good experience there because I was seen by an attentive ER personnel and dr and I was one of the only people there. However, since then I have been given every excuse never to return, and I will tell as many people as I can never to go there if they have any choice in the matter. It is the closest hospital to me, but I will travel the extra distance with a head injury and physical shock rather than go back there again. They processed my insurance incorrectly (partially my fault, I was suffering from vertigo and explained to them I couldn’t think straight), then when I challenged the billing because my insurance company told me it wasn’t specific enough, they couldn’t “itemize” my nearly $10,000 emergency room bill with any specificity – meaning line items were still several thousand dollars large – far too aggregated for my insurance company to get the information they needed to process the claim and cover any of it. I spoke with people in billing numerous times, I explained the situation to a patient advocate, I spoke with billing again because I never heard back from the patient advocate… They all told me they would f/u, nobody ever did. Then they started telling me they were going to send the bill to collections and one particularly charming “customer service” rep treated me like I was a criminal for trying to get appropriate backup to justify costs that my insurance company had already called “extraordinarily high”. As a patient, I have a right to know how my $10K bill got to be $10K, especially when my insurance company is saying that the bill is unusually high for the services provided. This of course does not count the emergency room physicians, or the radiologists, or the CT scan, all of which were billed separately from the $10K bill. Because of their refusal to provide more detail, I am forced to pay the entire bill out of pocket even though I am insured. I think this place is the absolute worst.Cristina Weber⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWent in for abdominal pain that had been there well over 24 hours, to be admitted was rather long and I wanted to just say whatever I’ll be fine and leave. But after I decided to go they called me up, did blood work and a CT scan. My results came back rather quickly and blessed they did I had acute appendicitis and if I would have left it may have ruptured. But Dr. Ashley Davis was rather informational and calming walking me through the procedure. They did my surgery immediately monitored me through the night and I loved both of my nurse Sarah and Erin.Mica LuceroJust walked out of Lutheran after a CT scan. Dr W was so rude he walked out of the room I was in during mid conversations with me while answering a more important call.. my pain is severe and I guess after determining I had nothing wrong decided I was not worthy of helping with anything else. My CT scan was done by someone seemingly high on speed or in a major hurry and took 3 minutes and the results came back within 15 minutes. I will never go back to this hospital…Melissa SitzmanDO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL! THEY DON’T CARE IF YOU LIVE OR DIE! They just turned away a veteran with a hernia so bad that it’s impacting his ability to walk! They told him to call a primary care physician! His legs are turning blue and they turned him away! Unbelievable. I’m disgusted by their lack of concern for human life!Alexis Pittman⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe had THE BEST experience here. Both times. We had our son here in 2017 and our daughter here in 2018. Dr Johnson delivered our son. Our son ingested some meconium during birth but doc didn’t panic. He cleared his nose and throat and gave him a little time and our son was perfectly fine without having to go to the NICU. Dr. Padgett (no longer works there) delivered our daughter and she also did an amazing job. Both vaginal births. My epidural experiences were a little different each time but I was in no pain during and I’ve had no back pain since (I had my youngest a year ago). Not to mention the wonderful nurses that are amazing! Really nice homey rooms, and decent food. AND they let me have my husband, mom, grandmother, best friend, and the photographer in the room. If I were to ever have another child (which we ARE NOT) it would be here 100%! Love Lutheran!Anna NiemelaI was in the ER for the 3rd time in 9 days due to severe abdominal pain. Every time I went to the doctor, they immediately sent me to the ER. I saw Dr. Rutherford and was told that this could be chronic pain that may never go away or figured out. I was also told that the ER is not the place to come for answers and that I needed to go to a doctor (who wouldn’t treat me because of the severity of my symptoms). He was extremely condescending and dismissive. He diagnosed me with unexplained stomach pain and anxiety. I was later diagnosed with a ruptured cyst and endometriosis, which would have been fairly obvious if he took the time to listen and test instead of dismissing me because I am young and a woman. I am used to being treated unfairly in the medical field because of my gender, but never to the point where I am told not to come in to a facility when my pain is at a 9. I truly hope no woman has to go through what I did with this doctor.Renee M.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff in the labor and delivery is the most compassionate group of people I have ever come in contact with. We will never forget the amazing work the team did for our family. Thank youLo Ornelas⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWorst hospital ever! Especially maternity ward! My daughter in law has been in there several times with medical issues during her pregnancy. Last night was the final straw. Head charge maternity nurse was rude and basically a witch! Refusing to call the doctor on call to deliver/ c-section our baby “because she wasn’t on the schedule” and it is a holiday! What is wrong with people! Refusal to help a baby be born! . As well as the emergency room doctors being terrible. Leaving a stint in my daughter in laws body that was obviously hurting her and later discovering in surgery it was growing in her. All at this at this facility that is suppose to care of people! I could go on and on! But I wouldn’t suggest anyone going here for health care!!!Isela Ruiz⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedLoved the care they give you DR and NURSES had my baby 3 days ago at this hospital and they took good care of us 5 stars thank you ..S O⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️They always find out what the Issue is here. Quick wait times and happy nurses make this the best hospital around.Jeanette FellowsWe almost lost our daughter to acute kidney failure when we brought her to Lutheran because they didn’t bother to run any labs during our first visit to the ER. They gave her Tylenol, acted like we were wasting their time, and then sent us home. When her condition got worse, and we returned a week later, she had to be flown by helicopter to Children’s Hospital to save her life. To make matters worse, a bill for our first visit, that we never received, was sent to collections. I am thankful that the ER doctor at our second visit took our daughter’s condition seriously, but her kidney failure should have been caught sooner. There are some good doctors and nurses at Lutheran, but unfortunately, the lack of care our daughter received at her first visit ended up making the situation both medically and financially worse.Billie Joy BehanI Strongly recommend NOT taking a loved one to the Emergency room @ Lutheran Hospital. 2/3/20 I took my Suicidal son to this emergency room after he had taken an entire bottle of over the counter sleeping aids+drank an entire bottle of alcohol with intention of ending his life. We where met with staff who obviously did NOT take it Seriously or seem to Care in the least…which was only Confirmed when I stepped away from his bedside briefly to retrieve a charger in order to keep other family members updated on his condition. In less than an hour, I received a phone call informing me the SUICIDAL PATIENT under Lutheran emergency room care (My son!!) had left the Hospital via a “Secure” exit with the IV etc. still attached to his arm!! No shirt, No phone, No wallet on a Cold winter night with it Snowing. NOT ONE person had ANY idea where my son could be!! Even an untrained, uneducated person in the Medical field such as myself has enough common sense to know that a SUICIDAL PATIENT has the potential to be unpredictable and irrational in that state of mind. In which case, ‘trained professionals’ you can only hope might want to CARE or Take SERIOUSLY enough to keep a closer eye on a Patient in that condition. If Lutheran emergency department is that ILL equipt and INCOMPETENT to cover the Basics in Mental health care perhaps put up a WARNING Sign stating so!! As a side note, I was encouraged by the nurse Several times to “just go home” “No need to stay” giving false assurance, it would be Fine to step away Briefly to keep the rest of my concerned family informed of my son’s condition. Apperently NOT. Iv had Negative experience with this hospital in the past as far as their Lack of Empathy… would Not have chosen to go there had not it been the closest to my home is the Only reason due to the fear my son didn’t have much time. Only by the Grace of God I was able to find my son. I can tell you now Lutheran Hospital will be the absolute Last place I ever go for Any reason from here on out. INCOMPETENT and UNCARING LACK of EMPATHY. p. s. the short message left the next morning by the nurse, who had NO idea whether I had found my son, whether he had taken his life, or not. Stating she “hoped everything was alright” and that’s it. Only confirms further the Poor judgement, the Poor care and concern enabled by this establishment labeled a “Health Care facility” Shame on you Lutheran Hospital. Please UPGRADE your CARE for the sake of the patients who come through your door. I will NEVER be one of them. But especially for the Mental health community who desperately Need help. It’s a matter of Life and Death. After all…you did take an Oath, or did you??Kelli ThompsonNice environment and MOST staff. The exception being ICU. .TERRIBLE treatment by Dr’s! Rude, condescending and unwilling to listen! The biggest problem seems to be STERILE INFECTION CONTROL! 2 family members went in WITHOUT infections, contracted severe infections in the hospital and they then RUSHED the family to remove life support and she DIED! The other bacterial infection happened during childbirth, making mother and baby SICK! We will never go to Lutheran again!!Lucero⭐️⭐️⭐️The Nurses and Er Doctors are great! As for the check in staff completely rude and lack empathy?? Come on if you work in the Emergency department please remember people are in distress and expect kindness and respect???Judith Hovda⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff is amazing – very caring and efficient and knowledgable. If you have to go to the hospital, this is the place to be.Millie Van DyneThis hospital is Afraid to give medications They treat me like I’m some sort of junkie. So not even ask for meds cause u won’t get it they will send u home in pain and not even think about your pain THEY DO NOT CARE….Rodney Bell⭐️⭐️⭐️Introduction is a 5. Everyone is caring, kind and professional. They even give a time estimate of how long we can expect to be here. After the promised time has passed, very little/no communication about the status of a discharge—currently 2.5 hours over the promised time and the only discussion is when we initiate them. Always met with a very pleasant “sorry, we just don’t know.” 5 stars for medical capabilities, 1 star for running an organization and managing expectations.Pam Cingoranelli⭐️⭐️⭐️Middle of the night ER experience: Security staff: super friendly and efficient. Medical staff: The EMT was awesome. A nurse and doc started off great, but their attitudes and presence went downhill. We felt like we were a hindrance and that since my Dad had cosmetic surgery with complications that it was what he signed up for and he had to suffer the side effects which was excessive bleeding, nausea and vomiting and severe pain. We were there from 12-6:30 which wasn’t a big deal as he needed the medical attention. I wish he could’ve been admitted as we would’ve been more comfortable, but the last couple hours, there was a huge rush to get us out at the end. I am sure it was for financial reasons with insurance. When they were booting us, my Dad was in the wheelchair and had to go to the restroom before we left. Even though he specifically said he was nauseated and dizzy, the nurse walked away and had no one to cover in case of a fall. No discharge papers given, no real direction. It wasn’t an awful experience, but definitely not a great one.Sharon McKimThis is absolutely the worst medical facility in the area. Better off taking the drive to Wyoming. They have refused services to an at risk, disabled, adult. Making claims the at risk adult is holding the emergency room hostage because they admitted to having suicidal thoughts. Thank you to the grave yard nurse, Dana, and the physiologist, Christie D. When a concerned person voices said concerns Miss Dana accuses them of being attention seeking. Wonderful way to serve the pubic! Absolutely amazing!!K S SApril 2013, my Mother had emergency surgery for a perforated ulcer. I remember like it was yesterday, 1:00 am my brother and I were waiting in the dark, empty waiting room. The Anesthesiologist punctured her lung – she went into cardiac arrest. My Mother never made it back home. There are other hospitals around, avoid this one if you can!Heaven VigilI get that the ER sees many things every day, but just because were JUST ANOTHER patient, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take people seriously. Just because were not dying or have serious lacerations that are making you go above and beyond doesn’t mean you can have an attitude or treat us like our problems aren’t big enough for YOU! When we come to the EMERGENCY ROOM you expect to be welcomed, Instead we were made to like we should have never came. First impressions are everything and the people who first check you in, should be the first people to make you feel like you came to the right place ! “were going to figure this out, don’t worry”. Would have been nice to hear.Zoe KellyWent in. Because my body tanked on 13lbs of fluid and I stopped urinating. They drew blood did xray, and then forgot I was there. You could here everyone laughing and talking at the front desk. I waited an extra hour, no one came back so I pulled out my IV and left.Paula WiestI took a friend in for surgery on 7/3/19. The people who checked her in were very nice & helpful as well as the nurse who gave me updates. Now after her surgery we got the bums rush. I was told that the surgery went well and was done approximately an hour early (Good news) although my friend was having a hard time coming out of the anesthesia. When I was taken back to see her the nurse told me that her numbers were good and I should go get my car and they would bring her out. What I saw when I got back there was my friend shaking, she couldn’t hardly communicate – she was NOT ready to be released, she was barely out of anesthesia and her pain was definitely NOT under control. I could tell this just by looking at her and told the nurse this; she (the nurse) once again told me to go get my car, my friends numbers were good. They couldn’t seem to get us out of there fast enough. Once we got on the road my friend started throwing up and asked me to get her home and hopefully she would feel better – And she didn’t want to go back to Lutheran’s after the way they treated her. She basically threw up for the next couple of hours. We ended up in the Swedish ER a couple of hours later where someone actually took the time to stop, look, listen and got the nausea under control, hydrated her, and got her pain under control. I can honestly tell you I will never go there myself & everyone I know will be fully aware of how the OR staff treats their patients. These patients (all patients) are people, vulnerable people, who are placing their lives in Lutheran’s hands and deserve to be treated with compassion and respect. Patients beware…M Dean⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe Best hospital I have Ever been in Ever… All Staff & workers I had contact with during my recent stay treated me with extreme respect, dignity, friendliness, professionalism, & courteousness that I’ve ever been treated and I know as professional caregiver and that I wouldn’t expect anything less because, I am the worst patient Any Clinic or Hospital could have. I Never felt anxious or desperate to get out & away from Lutheran. The Only grudge I had is that I Lost a Favorite Fluffy Robe because I Forgot to grab it & it Didn’t nake it to Lost & Found[ 3Mother0Earth3 ]Well assisting my grandmother to the hospital today we had to go to the lab unit to drop off blood work we walked up to nobody at the front desk when the staff member Cheryl did come asked if we been help Obvious answer would be no considering she’s walking to an empty front desk took the paper and ask us to win in the waiting room. About 20 mins passed because Daniel I believe her name was came and ask if we where help I then explained we have an appointment she said for drawing blood I said no she said then you free to go. In shock at this point for a wait unneeded I did say out loud I’ll be leaving a review where many stuff in back began laughing however but nobody was at the front desk still. Danial was hope when my grandma ask for a copy of her papers she was very helpful. Jame the diroector then approached an ask if there are any concerns I let him know and he seem to be apologetic which I then felt a little acknowledged. This doesn’t change the fact that she was later for her other appointment in the same building do to lack of communication. I could only imagine if my grandma was here by herself that she would’ve been Just wondering around. Jeanne for the actual appointment was very help allowed my grandma to still see the doctorWillow TreeReally wish 0 was an option. I was born here and have always come here my whole life but all of a sudden they have gone to s$@*. Nothin was done to actually help my boyfriend. Nurses disappeared for at least an hour to two at a time. They knew absolutely nothing about his condition. Gave him all kinds of meds that they claimed were going to help and only made him feel worse. Will not be returning.Michael Vigil⭐️⭐️Bad center that does not care about the needs or wants of the patient. Subpar care and even worse customer service. Go elsewhere.Brenda Yesenia⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI have been to this hospital many times since it is the closest to home. Last night, I was treated amazingly by all staff after having the worst asthma attack. Staff is always caring and they listen to any of your concerns.Deanna BThey were rough with my nana. and ignored she was in pain she broke her ankle because she slipped on ice and she was in pain crying bad and made us wait for almost two hours. i get there is other people that need to be checked but they had people who came in after her go before so i’m more upset with that.Jessica Parker⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGreat experience at this hospital! All the nurses and staff were amazing, super friendly and helpful. I am glad this is the hospital I chose to deliver at. Bonus!…Hospital food was good too!!Brean ArchdeaconI am absolutely appalled at our mental health system. My husband has battled with alcoholism for a long time. He finally tried to get help at West Point and was turned away and told to check-in at Lutheran Hospital before he could receive any care. Then Lutheran Hospital sent him to Jefferson Center Crisis & Recovery in Wheatridge. When he asked why he was being sent there he was told, “because this is where we send people.” He was then discharged the NEXT day and told to do an intensive outpatient treatment. He doesn’t need outpatient, he needs inpatient REHAB. It sounds like no one knows what is going on and the patient is dismissed like they don’t matter. I believe 9 News did a story on this a year back or so and I definitely plan to follow up. These are real people who need help!No wonder our suicide rate is what it is. Shameful!Loran Lewis⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER Recommended11-10-2019 was a hard day for my family and I. My girlfriend hard went to the ER because of pain in her stomach and back. She was 17 weeks pregnant ,and after doctor’s exams my girlfriend shes was dilated at a 1cem. That’s when it went down hill and we lost our lil boy. our wonderful nurse’s in the Delivery NICU did every thing they could to make us feel welcome and to make us feel better PAM & LOURAN are amazing people and good at what they do I just want to take the the time and thank these 2 ladys for everything they done for me and my family. People like Pam & Louran are amazing people thank you so much.Eve MartinDr Rutherford in the ER was condescending and dismissive. Did not address the issue and did nothing to help meOlivia CorbinGreat experience the first time going here second time they treated my husband like trash and were very rude and condescending and awful. I wouldn’t recommend going hereAshley Schubert⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe delivered at Lutheran and it was a wonderful experience. The nurses are fantastic and you can tell they really care. All of the rooms are very nice and the facility as a whole is very clean and beautiful. We did take the sibling safari class with Lutheran before brother came and it was very fun and worth it for my older son. I have also been to the free breastfeeding support group and it’s a great resource. The lactation consultants helped me figure out my son had a tongue tie. Once we had it clipped, he started nursing so much better. When little one was just 5 days old, he was breathing very fast, so the on call doctor at our pediatrician office suggested we take him back to Lutheran to have him looked at since it was the middle of the night. We did take him to the ER department and thankfully, everything turned out ok. They were very gentle and thorough with him. We also received a bill pretty timely and no issues there, except it was expensive. It’s expensive at any hospital, so we can’t really blame Lutheran. I couldn’t be happier with the care we received!Sharon Maiser⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy 83 year old Mom was hospitalized at Lutheran Hospital. Although she didn’t live, I can’t say enough about how caring and thorough they were with my Mom. Dr. Brown and Dr Ferguson in ICU explained everything that was going on so clearly and positively, they really did want the best outcome for her. They really helped us through the last days of her life. All of the nurses were so kind and caring, they took such great care of our Mom. Thank you all so much.Annah Palm⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER Recommendedthe entire staff is super friendly and helpful!Jen Pilbeam⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had to be monitored for early labor and the nurse I had was fabulous. Very sweet and informative.Rob’s simple Videos⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This started off as a 5 star service. I had some chest problems and came in thinking heart attack. They were top of the line medically, the nurses were kind and food decent. The only reason this isn’t a 5 star review is the discharge process…. Took some back and forth with the nurse to even get discharged. I think the ER became very busy and I understand that people dying come above me getting out of a hospital, but for 5-6 hours waiting and then being told I need to stay overnight at hospital (wouldn’t say it but it was because doctor was busy and didn’t have time for me.) But you must remember im paying high dollar for hospital services ane if not my my insurance company of whom I pay… Please fix your discharge process and do not threaten AMA if a patient wants to leave and a doctor isn’t ready to discharge them (not for medical reasons but because he busy) that’s NOT cool…. AMA makes patient pay for all of medical bill no insurance help.VinnyScam they will triple charge your for services my wife had my son here and I had some issue with my eyes which took them 20 min to fix. Charged me for the doctor fee use off the hospital. This medical system is one big scam. Better off going to the ER unless your dieting and we had nothing but rude doctors and nurses.i payed them.11 hundred dollars directly to the hospital for my bill and still sent me a bill from a creditor for no reason. DONT GO HERE! Also I called at 4:45 and everyone went home early when the office hours says 5pm! This hospital is a joke!Marinia JannWish I could make a 0 star rating. Because of the OB not caring about me and rushing to get me out, she misread the Ultrasounds for my son. 2 nights later, my son died. She told me everything was fine. That the placenta was basically where it needed to be. What she failed to see was the placenta was coming off the wall and causing my large amount of bleeding and clotting. The Placenta was breached and put me into early labor. Now I am getting lawyers. I don’t want this to ever happen to someone again. I am so sick and tired of these doctors rushing us out and not listening or paying attention. Something needs to be done.Mary charles⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI went to work in the kitchen today .i loved it.worked 9 1/2 hours and it felt luke 5.Hope to go back soon.Reyann gonzalez⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI just wanted to say this hospital is a good place to come. As soon as they put me in a room they came in quickly. I went to north suburban a few days before and they said my abdominal pain is unknown and sent me home. Lutheran sent me home feeling better and with the cause of my pain. They just called me to check up. Will definitely be going back for future issues. Highly recommended!com down⭐️⭐️The emergency room nurses could be extremely more helpful. And the security guards were disrespectful and rude to a number of patients and visitors.Robyn Richardson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGood doctors, good nurses. Best experience I could imagine during my delivery! Shout out to Dr. Ellis Dr. Ganter and my nurses team, Chris, Jen, Amy, Susan, Brittany, and everyone else who helped me out!Kyle AndersonI came to the hospital seeking urgent care blood draw for toxicology analysis. I asked the front desk where I could find urgent care. They directed me towards the emergency area. I walked up to the emergency area. I asked the security guard if this was the Urgent Care the security guard said yes. I checked in and was lead back to a room. The technician put in my IV And hooked me up to a cardio machine. This was the point that I realized I was in an emergency room and not an urgent care. The hospital does not have an urgent care. Rather than telling me that they did not have an urgent care they brought me to the emergency room and now I have a $2600 bill for a toxicology blood draw. I believe the miss information to be unscrupulous and borderlining on fraudulent billing. Unfortunately it will cost more to fight it than to pay the bill.Ellen Rogers⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDr. Moran and RN Dana were so wonderful! Everyone on the staff was so friendly even though we came in late at night. Everything was done efficiently and all questions were answered patiently. Thank you!Larry Allen⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedExcellent and patient friendly staff, at all levels, Very helpful, kind, and respectful. It does take time to work through policies and procedures required by govenment and insurance providers. LMC handled the procedural requirements with knowledge and expertise.Paige Lehto⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI am posting a review regarding one of the mental health professionals at this location, Nicholette Fabrizio. I believe someone posted some false and slanderous information. She is one of the most dedicated, compassionate and empathetic professionals I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. She cares deeply for her patients and takes her job very seriously. I’ve worked along side her previously and seen her go above and beyond for the well-being of her patients.Dia Selch⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️We delivered our son here last month and had a great experience. The nurses and staff were all really helpful and kind. I appreciated the schedule they gave us at the start of our stay informing us of when people would be in
