Before you go to McLaren, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Pontiac emergency room think.
Claralee DozierHave never been in a worst waiting room, no privacy what so ever. When you are waiting for 7 hours it would seem the hospital would provide you with a decent place to wait to hear the outcome of surgery. No privacy at all I know everyone’s business. Tried to reach a patient advocate no one knew who that person was or if there was one. Don’t Go to this Hospital!Kiki⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI went to the emergency after my blood pressure was off the roof. Everyone took care of me really well. I appreciated and recommend this hospital.Lex K⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHad a umbilical hernia surgery and colonoscopy procedure done at the same time. Was in the west tower third-floor area. From start to finish the whole staff was professional courteous and respectful all the way through. Very clean facility and made me feel at ease with my procedure being done. Dr. Sacksner did a great job for me. In the recovery room as well Sean and the nurse also that was there help me out greatly and made sure I was OK to leave out they even took me all the way downstairs when my ride was waiting on me and make sure I was OK to go. To everyone that helped me thank you again for everything for your support take a bow well-deserved! I will highly recommend to family and friends if anyone needs any procedures done in the future including myself. STAY STRONG!!!Hauling Trucking⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWas admitted for surgery in August and again in December…staff and clinicians were courteous and caring…good folksMr. Benjamin Press⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️My Mother had Life Alert and was talking to paramedics on the way to McClarens and still labled Jane Doe after just being there for two 10 day stays, she was not helped because of Jane Doe status. After 17 minutes they said she was BRAIN DEAD then gave her a name for billing. Please keep your loved ones away from any of their. hospitals. Much more to this being given another patient’s medication as well. Horrid place.Tom Cross⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedEveryone is different and of course their health care and needs. I believe the staff at this healthcare center is well versed and aware of their patients needs and concerns. I have been in many health care locations and have seen good and bad. Compassion and integrity go hand in hand.Curious Too⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had a mastectomy in September. The nurses were great. I had a large contingent of family waiting for my surgery to be completed and they all said they were treated very well by the staff there. I have no reservations about being treated here again.Amelia Thompson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had an emotionally traumatizing experience here in February of 2018 and was sick to my stomach coming here for a friend that needed surgery. Tonight though, on the third night of her being here, she had an amazing nurse; Kristi. She listened, she cared, she made her comfortable after being uncomfortable for days and numerous nurses brushing her off. Overall, she was an attentive and awesome nurse! She was even good conversation. I’m grateful of all the nurses she’s had since being there, she had Kristi. Every hospital needs nurses like her.Lisa CrumleyNot good at ALL.. They couldn’t put me asleep properly. Didn’t know how to start IV.. Didn’t offer anything for pain after. No Tylenol nothing. This is very poor patient care. Like my Dr and feel she is pushed to do operations in this Hospital. I would give zero stars if I could. I feel very bad for anyone having surgery. I’m a person with 2 incurable diseases and believe a dog was treated for pain better than I. I should been asked if I was ok after and had any pain. I did have pain. I will stick with the better Hospitals out by me. Also they had me signing things which is a no after surgery…..Luanne Islas⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy son Is Type1 Diabetic we only use this hospital. Unfortunately he usually ends up in Icu.He is treated so well the men and women on that floor is Amazing, The care the kindness that me and my son receive is like no other hospital I have been to.My son is actually there now and I have to work but I know,I trust that he is being taken well cared of.Thank so much for all you do.Love Brandon’s mom.Josie AkinsI went to this hospital for a routine colonoscopy, outpatient procedure. I was told to arrive at 8 o’clock that my procedure was at 9. I didn’t even get taken into pre-op until 9. The staff is extremely unprofessional. After the scope they didn’t even clean me up and they did the most disgusting thing ever and left me in that room to recover and attempted to give me crackers and juice.. I’m sorry, NOT SORRY, food should not be in the same room as this procedure.June Henderson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy elderly mother arrived at emergency very ill. I was alone with her and just seeing her so helpless I broke down and started crying. A woman that was emptying the trash came over and started praying. It gave me so much comfort and I never got a chance to get her name so I could thank her properly. Everyone has treated my mother with care and concern.Chris MendenhallMy wife and I came in the ER around 11:25. She had a gushing head wound. We were sat down with no assistance regarding her wound for 25 minute before I went to the nurses station to ask he they could hurry up , the ER was not busy and there were allot of nurses just sitting doing nothing. I went back to the bed and the male nurse with a Mohawk (added the description so his supervisor knows how it is and hopefully fires this guy) had the nerve to come to our bed and say and I quote “it’s not like her brains are falling our of her skull” with a bad attitude and walk away. Then the doc never sanitized her head. Just used cotton swaps to find the wound, staple her head shut and call it a day. We did not receive any medicine, which is fine, but clean the wound I would think. They knew that she got it at a hunted house so cleaning would be a good thing.Janet Olafsson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGreat experience in the emergency room. Very kind doctor.Marion BlackThis is the worst hospital I have had to be in First waiting for someone to have surgery from 11:30am and not be taken back for surgery till 2:15-2:30 PM have more than 6 people come by asking the same question when you go to get something to eat when you are waiting for surgery to be over to find know one is in the dinning to fix you anything at 2:30- if you are hungry wait till 4 or have dried up cold fries pizza or a welted salad with no lettuce or dried up soup that’s no longer even warm or close down the coffee shop and gift shop .its very upsetting when the hospital is this in caring when staff stand around bullshiting instead of helping people you wonder if the doctor they are seeing is any good and knows what they are doingAdrienne Myers⭐️⭐️My mom’s been sick and we usually come here..Dr. Chris in the ER is great. Unfortunately tonight she’s not here, the doctor and other staff have been horrible!! One staff was yelling at a patient! She was so rude. And my mother was ignored for hours!! Not a pleasant experience here tonight. Also triage rooms.in ER were filthy!Holls C⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI sat on here Sunday night on the eve of my Hysterectomy reading all the bad reviews of this hospital, which messes with my anxiety bad….. I’m here to say my surgery and stay here has been wonderful! Treated well and the food is great, room is clean! All my nurses have been wonderful! I really enjoyed my pre-OP nurses Debi and Laurie! They are great people!“⭐️⭐️⭐️Impressively large I was sadly disappointed the showroom didn’t have a single model on the floor, not a 500 series, not a 600 series, let alone the new GT. Dealership mostly seemed to full of sick people with little interest in selling or servicing sports cars.Astrid Gallagher⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHad spine surgery at this hospital and everything was great. Nurses were attentive and friendly. Hospital was clean.Lyrical Love⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy friend was a patient here last week and she was happy with the care. The professionalism noted by all who came into her room and that we met was wonderful. Thanks for all that you do for others. It may be difficult sometimes but your hard work is much appreciated.Felesa A.Evan Berg D.O in ER was very rude and inattentive regarding my ER needs. I had to request a Supervising Doctor.money Mike HudackI never thought I would be sitting here writing this at least not too soon my father was only 55 very healthy athletic man work to provide for his family took care of me for 33 years he was going to this hospital for a routine procedure when stuff went downhill he started getting infections one thing led to another he ended up on dialysis when his kidneys were fine and his liver was fine before he started coming to this Hospital they gave him three different types of infections and set him down to Henry Ford where they thought the people down there could save him if you love your family you will not bring your loved ones here or yourself you’ll just end up dead my mother-in-law is in the hospital she’s been there for 3 days and she wasn’t able to come home and have dinner on Thanksgiving with her family like she was promised they gave her two different infections and now they keep doping her up with fentanyl she has a breathing tube and she keeps twitching she is unresponsive and they keep doping her up we were trying to get her Switched at this moment to another hospital these people this place is horrible there is a few good nurses and doctors and people that work here but that’s only like four Charmaine work downstairs and Radiology she’s the most wonderful most caring person I’ve ever met in my life and she told me to get my father out of that hospital why I could and I had one hell of a time but it wasn’t time please I beg of you if you love your family or yourself please do not go to this HospitalMichele Timek⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I had an outpatient procedure done. All the nurses before my surgery until i woke up in the recovery room we’re very compassionate and concerned with making me comfortable. Hospital is very clean and everyone is friendlyGary StrutzWorst hospital experience I have ever had in my life. I will never go back. After being admitted from being so sick, not only were the nurses horrible and didn’t know what they were doing, they gave our car keys that we had in valet to someone else. They had to Uber us home and that’s the last thing I wanted after being stuck there for 2 days. Avoid this place at all costs.Cindy Alvarado⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI live 6 minutes away from Genesys Hospital, but I would rather drive 25 minutes to this location. The service is so much better and not as congested as Genesys.Jon ForsterWas robbed of my wallet with over $400 and a necklace pendant worth over $1200 while i was in the E.R. Security gave me the round around about looking into the issue and its lead nowhere. Wasnt there for but a few hours before i was transferred to beaumont, because they couldnt relocate my ankle.Jacob ReichertI dont think they know how to operate a phone properly or keep a line working. Can’t get ahold of someone.Cara WilderBeen here over 12 hours, they’re admitting an elderly person to a room and we’ve spent all this time in ER waiting for a real room. Inexcusable. Nice people. Good staff but REALLY OVER 12 hour wait for the room…..Sarah HabermeyerI had surgery here recently and was kept overnight. Not only when they prep you for surgery do they take you into a room where you can actually see the other patients (how that isn’t a HIPPA violation is beyond me) but they facility just doesn’t feel clean and sterile like a hospital should. There’s trash on the floor in the hallways, it’s just grimey feeling. They then put me in a room after surgery and while overnight I had a great nurse, I woke the next morning and had an awful nurses assistant who kept making inappropriate remarks (in conversation) with my roommate about hysterectomies and how I could rent her uterus if I wanted (since I just had a hysterectomy) not only was it hurtful, she essentially told y roommate why I was in the hospital/what procedure I’d had done. Then when I asked to use the shared bathroom she sent me in after putting a hat in the toilet to measure urine, and expected me to use a toilet that was COVERED IN MY ROOMMATES FECES. They allowed my roommate whom was apparently schizophrenic and faking a stroke, to scream ALL NIGHT LONG. It was a disaster of a hospital and they severely lack ANY responsibility or bedside manner.Jordan MastersWhat a dirty poorly run rat hole! The only nice part of this hospital is their cancer floor which unfortunately is staffed by some of the worst cancer doctors in this area who are masquerading as Karmanos doctors, but they are really just private practice docs who bought the Karmanos name. You can get better medical care at St Joseph Mercy which is only a mile down the road or at Beaumont Troy which is also not too far away. This rat hole of a hospital should be condemned for the good of public safety!ironclad stripedquailThis is for their ortho clinic. Had a new patient appt because I wanted a Dr who was closer than royal oak. Total time spent was about 2 hours. 5 mins with a Dr who just wanted to get on to his next patient. First hour spent being forgotten about in the exam room then sent for x rays. Other than that the staff are wonderful.Jake BlandWould’ve been great if they would’ve set my hand right the first time instead of having to do it two more times after the fact. Then it would’ve been great if I could have got my prescription that was written for me but the incompetent doctor did not write the DEA number on the prescription so I had to jump through all sorts of hoops just to get my medication for my broken hand. Still haven’t got my medication for my shattered hand.Sonja AubreyMy oldest sister Debbie Walker formerly known as Debbie Lee, works at this hospital. The staff are just as evil as she is. My niece/Debbie’s daughter, Nakeisha Newburn, has come to that hospital for years to be treated AND to see her mother. Debbie gave birth to 3 daughters and 1 son, she has 17 grandchildren, and does not give Love to NONE of them. Our mother raised the youngest 2 of Debbie’s daughters and my mother’s mother raised Debbie’s son and oldest daughter. My mother adopted 2 of Debbie’s grandchildren, while our grandmother raised 2 in St. Louis, Missouri. Debbie doesn’t tell anyone about her children and grandchildren because she is ashamed of them. Debbie’s daughter Nakeisha Newburn has come to McLaren Oakland for years and the staff always keeps it a secret when she asks for her mom Debbie. They tell Debbie and Debbie force’s her child away from the hospital and reminds her not to tell Debbie’s co-workers that she is her child. Well my niece just passed away without her mother because her mother was trying to get her own grandchildren taken into CPS custody. Debbie’s son passed away a month earlier whom she had not seen or made an effort to see in 30 years. I am saying all of this to say…if the hospital staff is that evil, it’s no wonder they can’t/won’t save lives.Stephanie R Hughes⭐️⭐️I had my gallbladder removed and had to stay overnight. My nurses were horrible. They didn’t check on me, didn’t respond when I needed assistance and my nurse Tiffany on floor 7 hooked me up to a potassium IV and didn’t check it. 2 hours go by and the IV fluids never went through. Then she takes 3 hours to discharge me and told me she would get me a script for Tylenol 3 and Motrin, but she has me leave without getting me my scripts so I call the hospital and another nurse said I don’t get anything even though thats not what Tiffany told me. The nurses were a hot mess and had no idea how to do their job and take care of their patients. On the other hand, all the nurses and staff who prepped me for surgery were fabulous. Debbie with red hair was so nice and kind to me. I also had a nurse Deborah who take care of me right after surgery and a nurse Deanna. But once I was put on floor 7, thats when the awesome nurses and care stopped. The hospital needs to be consistent on hospitality. Floor 7 nurses were nasty and had bad attitudes and were very rude. I want all the nurses in pre op to get recognition for being amazing and setting the standard bar really high. Floor 7 needs professional development in taking care of patients.Sherry Hardge⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis hospital is awesome. The staff is very friendly, great bedside manners. Food is good. Rochelle and Michelle are awesome nurses. We were back in the hospital, Myron’s PCA Sharon is one of the best. Also his nurse John did an awesome job as well. This is 8 West. The best staff.Michelle Wong⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Crszy busyShaun M⭐️⭐️⭐️Spent a couple days here a couple weeks ago. They were prompt in the ER, but the doctors on the floor never checked in, and rarely did the nurses. Usually just the PCA. Some were good, some were ok, some would come in at 5pm as their “hourly rotation” and mark down the 4-5 and the 5-6 block. Lots of waiting with very little information. Only way you could get information on the tests they were doing was to overhear the nurses talking outside the room during shift change. The cardiologist (Dickey) was very informative when he came in. 3 of 5 overall.Kandy wedlakeWorst hospital ever I never got checked by a doctor nurses rarely check on you. They didn’t clean blood off toe and when asked for a band-aid still bleeding guy said she’s getting it after she looked at me she never came. Didn’t check bump on head worst headache ever nothing for it. I won’t go back.Chelle Shocked⭐️⭐️⭐️They saved my life when I tried to kill myself in November of 2012. I died twice on the table in the process. However they didn’t take the situation seriously at first and I was pushed aside to a hall bed while my boyfriend watched me die. I will never forget coming in and out of it and seeing his desperate eyes. Once I was out of ER and I woke up with all the tubes in my throat and no immediate memory of why I was there or what happened I was treated by a nurse who then taunted me by making comments like “ oh are you going through withdrawal?” And a bit of laughter when I became panicked by my new found attachments. 3 stars for keeping me alive but the staff is the rudest and after a traumatic experience where I REMEMBER DYING this women treats me like that?!?! Thank you for my life but you guys needs some serious help. How DARE you! Oh and to the nurse who spoke to me like that… I do remember your name (Michelle) and I think you should not be a nurse.uslion513⭐️⭐️Horrible service, lt will takes 20 to 30 mints for somebody to respond to the patient when they push the button for help.Nikolay NatchevThey treat you like costumer not like a patient! They worry more who is going to pay, than your health! Health is absolutely not important for them! They let me sign paper in case insurance not pay, they did not want to take me before I sign this paper! One star is a lot for them!Daniel McLaughlin⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWas very pleasantly surprised about my stay at McLaren. The staff, Doctors nurses etc. that took care of my needs was perfect! Carley, and the 8th floor staff went beyond to make my stay wonderful ! Thank you everyone !Pamela HairyHoganThe worst emergency department experience of my lifetime. Came in due to asthma attack, cop at door made me wait (young and dumb). ER doctor rushed. Only saving grace was respiratory tech who knew what she was doing. Actually saw nurse spinning around on chair at station. Pharmacist was clueless with regards to meds ordered. Put a sticky note on the prescriptions and had me return to ER to get them clarified. Insurance did not cover any of them. Left and went to another hospital after suffering another attack. Joke of a hospital. Should be closed.Kyle Couch⭐️⭐️⭐️Friendly staff, they typically always have a solution to what is wrong, so why only 3 stars? The waiting times can be described as over the top. They are consistently atleast at a 2 hour waiting time in the ER. I highly respect the results and the courteous staff, now let’s just work on those waiting times and it would 5 stars for me.M RodI was at the hospital visiting someone and I was appalled at how filthy the entire hospital was as a whole. There wasn’t a doctor or nurse to be found when wandering around the ICU. Just PCA’s and they were rude and not the least bit compassionate . 45 minutes after my friend rang her nurse call button because she was falling out of her bed the PCA comes in and says “it’s not a good time right now we’re busy at this time of day. I’ll try and find some people though”. (It was the middle of the afternoon on a Friday?!…..not the middle of the night.) BTW…no one ever came and I was there over 2 hours. It was a horror show. They didn’t bathe or clean my friend regularly or appropriately. They didn’t change the linen and she is bed bound so her linens get soiled more often. I have been in many medical facilities with my own health issues and by far I believe this hospital should be reported to authorities or better yet just closed. People rely on clean medical facilities with diligent and empathetic staff. This is NOT one of those facilities. My heart goes out to those who are forced to seek treatment here.Gary HBetter hope your insurance is top knotch otherwise they will let you die. Worst experience in a hospital. Had internal bleeding and they realised me cause of my insurance. They have no care for your health.Shonna Royster Perkins⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedSo surprised!! So happy!! It’s was wonderful! The staff was unbelievable! It was 5 stars!! All the way! Not one disappointing thing happened! 2 different surgeries, 2 nights Can’t say enough about the wonderful care I received!!Elvis Monteego⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDo not question what is seen through the eyes of a goat, for those of us that know what the goat sees, there’s no turning back, I know what the goat sees, when the goat goes to a lemon party, you don’t want to know what the goat sees, I know what the goat sees, when the goat goes to the bathroom, tub girl is what he sees, you don’t want to know what tub girl is doing that the goat sees. Things cannot be unseen, do not look through the eyes of the goat.JUST A LOGICAL LADCouldn’t see a single soul that worked here, and gave a hoot about my well being. They charged an amazingly enormous amount of money for services, then decided it would be fine to treat me like another digit. Also had bugs in the room too.Myron Hardge⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy Name is Myron. I was in McLaren Hospital. I think the staff and personnel do a great job of taking care of patients. They treat their patients with the up most respect. I would recommend this hospital to anyone. I would like to recognize these staff members from 8 west…Michelle, Rochelle, Melvin, Alan, Kelsey and Jennifer a sudent nurse from OCC.josie hernandez⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGoodmelissa lopezVery slow in radiology. This place is a joke.Abigaille BularBeen trying to pay my copay since last December, and they have sent me the wrong bill three time. Extremely frustrating when they talk to me on the phone like I’m trying to get out of paying my bills. Sorry, but your billing department is lazy and rude.Stefany BahenaI really never liked coming to this hospital!! Even when it was poh it’s a horrible hospital with horrible staff but today I’m really in pain and didn’t have a way to go to any other hospital. The resident had no idea what was going on with my ear said it looked like it burst then says she will have the doc check as well come to find out just really infected asked what type of medicaid I have told her none that I will he paying out of pocket everything changed from there they where ready for me to go I kept asking for help a pill for the road anything she just kept saying we’ll since you don’t have medicaid over and over. I can’t stand that hospital I don’t recommend for anybody to go there!! P. S mclaren don’t reply like you careMegan PerkinsVery rude nurses and doctors, not helpful at all. Did not have a good experience and will not be returning again for any emergency.Çindy JohnsonHorrible hospital. Was in there several years ago for gallbladder issues. Was very sick with bile backing into my system and yellow eyes. Surgeon Dr Ket ner would not do surgery on me and kept sending me home. Said he needed me to save money for the surgery because he wanted me to get the best care and not have that an issue. I didn’t have insurance at the time. Finally went to a different hospital that did the surgery on me. Doctor said it was a mess in there and should have been taken out a lot sooner. Ended up paying McLaren 15,000 dollars to do absolutely nothing. Two years ago my mother in law had Back surgery done there. Ended up with mrsa and stayed in the rehab for about 3 months. They were awful in there. Could never find anybody to help with her. They never changed her bedding and hid when she wanted a shower. She ended up passing away in that hospital.John Hartman⭐️⭐️Careful, be sure that you check to see if the Doctors and Anesthesialogist take your Insurance because they won’t tell you if they don’t.Jessica Kidd⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Very attentive staff… my father in law has been in good hands since day oneLou AyendeThis place is horrible I was admitted last year with a severe diverticulitis there surgeon here is my regular surgeon that I’ve been seeing for this matter. My infection was so bad that no one here would touch me even though the surgeon could have been did this surgery when it was safe but he refused to do so Dr. kettner. When they seen how bad it was and they couldn’t get the infection under control they discharged me so I ended up having to go to Henry Ford because McClaren was just gonna let me die!!! Thank god the way better hospital took me in and saved my life. They did what this hospital couldn’t do plain and simple . Now my brother in law was in here a week ago his kidney completely stopped working and his heart had a 50% blockage and he was here for 2 weeks and they send him home and collapsed when he got in the house he is in st joesph mercy hospital where he experience his heart stop 2 times and had to be shocked back to life and put on life support system he is better no thanks to MCCLAREN. So in closing you want to be charged a lot of money and plus die this is the hospital to go to. You want to live go somewhere far from this place and my real name is Jose Rosado so ya know me or my whole family from wife n kids to mother and siblings aunts n uncles nieces n nephews cousin anyone that knows me knows this is 100% true are never coming here again. The worst part is my primary dr is with this hospital and I told him I wouldn’t come here ever again. I will only go to Henry Fords from now on there is one in West Bloomfield AND LET ME SAY THE ONLY GOOD THING I CAN SAY IS THE NURSES WAS GREAT! They have nothing to do with this review just the Dr’s and who ever is on this hospitals board shame on all of youAngel MedinaPaid $600 dollars right away out of pocket, then I get two different bills for the same. The first one says I owed $1,770 but it was all payed for except for $25. That is really weird because I don’t have insurance, I’m a student, and I have never had more than $1,000 in my bank account. Called for it to get fixed, haven’t got a call back. Called a few times for it get fixed. Then a week later I get another bill for $1,770 that is all due. First $600, then $25, and finally $1,770. That is really funny. Apparently costumer service is only open on the weekdays from 8am to 5pm. I work during those times. Hopefully they fix it this
