Before you go to McLeod Seacoast Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Little River emergency room think.
Michael BaldelliThis hospital is an absolute rip-off. Went in on a non emergency visit. Shame on me for not realizing this large hospital chose not to contract with my major health insurance company, UHC. But certainly nobody at McLeod chose to inform me upon checking in either. The result is a complete mess. If McLeod had been in network, they would have accepted about $1900 for the procedures. Instead they are trying to bill nearly $6,000 for the exact same services. How could a chest X-Ray cost $800 for one patient but the same exact X-Ray cost $3,000 to me? Speaking of chest X-rays, I read my chart and it noted patient reported shortness of breath, which is a complete fabrication. This justified in the Dr’s mind, the X-Rays. I had no shortness of breath nor did I report this. Not paying a penny for the X-Rays. So my insurance company has offered to pay the “usual and customary” rates for all the procedures but McLeod refuses and is trying to collect $4,300 from me. If they want to reduce my bill to the usual and customary rates, my insurance will cover the charges. McLeod can play these games of different rates for different people, but I make it a practice of finding and paying the lowest price possible for everything I purchase. McCleod is fraudulent (taking chest x-rays for no symptoms) and gougers of senior citizens (charging me $6,000 and someone else $1900 for the same treatment and somewhat deceptive (not informing me they had no contracted rates with my major health insurance company. As it stands now, not paying a penny more, and won’t.Taylor HartmanDon’t go there if you are pregnant, the nurse I had was rude. She went to check my baby’s heart beat and because the heart Doppler was not working she stopped and walked out and I did not see her again. A different nurse came in before I left to give me my paperwork she told me the same thing. This is a hospital people, you don’t have more than one heart Doppler? That’s a great way to stress an expectant mother out when you can’t give her a heartbeat. They had me change into a gown and what do you know one of the janitors knocked and opened the door to try to clean this has happened more than once, this is ridiculous!rcsauto1I was down for vacation and ended up cutting my foot on an oyster. Wasn’t really bad, just a clean deep cut. Went to the ER. Doctor walks in for about 20 sec and says,”Its not that bad. We’ll just clean it up and glue it.” and left. Nurse came in, flushed out the cut and left. The nurse came back with medical glue and glued it(took about 5 minutes). I sat in the ER for another 1/2 hr -45 min before saying that I was ready to leave. Nurse came in, wrapped a bandage around my foot and gave me a pill a script for antibiotics. I was sent a bill in the mail for……… wait for it………. $2,242.95 !!!! Listen people, this Hospital does not give a damn about you or your situation. It is a money mill. I repeatedly told them(which is true) that I have had metal removed from my eyeball and my my eyeball scraped with a needle(due to a rust ring) for less than this. My wife just had a kidney stone, got a CT scan, pain medicine and stay in the ER in Baltimore for less than this. This ER is a joke(and I surely mean it). You want to know what kind of person I am? Read my business reviews (RCS Automotive LLC) in Baltimore and see for yourself. I am an Honest, hardworking father of two and a husband. This ER just took all of my money I had and did so with a smile on their face. Do yourself a favor and sit and wait in a local Urgent Care center for just the same, if not better, treatment that will cost way less.
