Before you go to MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Baltimore emergency room think.
Idalmy FigueroaIs better to die than to come to the emergency room. No matter what the emergency is or if you come in an ambulance, drive or walk here. You will have to wait at least 6 hours to be seen. Been here since 3 P.M. came in an ambulance die to car accident and still sitting in the waiting room. Its 11:24 P.M.Bob GrussBrought my wife in from a DR referral. Wait time is terrible and based on the ratings this is a normal occurrence. When you respond wanting feedback but nothing changes you are just saving face. If you truly cared about the care you provide your patients you would make changes for the better. This is without a doubt the worst hospital I have ever been in. This could be for multiple reasons, understaffed, treat employees bad, or just plain old don’t care. So to follow up it’s been a 13+ hour wait and it’s clear that ethnicity is what gets you seen around here. Have been given every excuse in the world as to why we have been here so long. I asked for the test results and x-ray films so we could leave. That was 2 hours ago. I will be reaching out to the director of the facility to find out why I was told that certain ethnicities are easier to get out. I may even hire an attorney to deal with any issues that arise from the attending physicians ignoring another Drs orders.Onia Royster⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWhile visiting Baltimore, I was admitted to Franklin Square. I received the best service. The doctors, nurses and other staff members were very attentive. All my needs were met.Ty BellThe color of your skin will determine how soon you are seen in the ED. Take it from a former employee. The only reason why you see some young “color”behind the desk now is to accommodate for the “change in demographics” of the area. Guess the racist management thinks “we” are more relatable . I could write a book on all that I’ve seen and heard while working there. Now read it again‼️Mary Perman⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHeather G., a nurse , in the emergency department, displayed quality care for someone that was in need. She recognized time and time again the needs of her patients and took appropriate action in a timely manner. Thank you Heather.nick stamathisI used to live less than 20 minutes from this hospital for 43 years and it never was a quality facility. It has become worse as years have gone by. My father had terrible care there back in the early 90s until he passed away and my mother had some of the worse care I have ever witnessed until she passed in 2013. An ambulance always would take us to Franklin Square being the closest proximity to us and convenience. I also have had poor experiences there with Doctors and staff multiple times. The ER is an absolute disaster and the wait times are unacceptable and inappropriate. I had my mom there countless times with her illness and they would send her home same day with a bogus diagnosis until one night I almost got into a fight with the staff to admit my mother to find out her deteriorating condition. Finally found out afterwards she was in final stage 4 cancer. She died 3.5 months later after fooling with this place almost a year. I hope this review helps others to stay clear of this place. If you have anybody you care about do not seek care at this hospital. Dont just take my story just look at their other endless terrible reviews.Holly Kight⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI would recommend Franklin square highly here as a patient and the nurses go above and beyond and the Dr Was so patient and answered all of my questions. Yes there was a wait but there was also a lot of patients here that were sick. Thank you so much for taking care of me!SonjaThis is the worse emergency room hospital experience I have ever had. The young lady at the front desk was the best thing about my time there. She was very caring and professional. What do you say about a hospital where most of the healthcare professionals are not at a healthy weight? How do you take care of others when you obviously can’t take care of yourself. That aside, the wait times are terrible. My mom was obviously dehydrated but instead of getting her an IV drip they just parked her in the wait room. The hospital is obviously short-staffed. The medical staff are doing the best they can with what they have been given but they obviously don’t love working at Franklin Square. I can’t blame them. The hospital feels icky and a little dirty. I would never voluntarily come here. More like Franklin Scare!Soda CanThis is literally the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hospital, I dont know if it’s because I’m trans or in 23, but I’ve never been so dehumanized before at a medical facility ever in my life. I will at no point be returning, anyone who gives this place 5 stars is probably a bot or a boomer.Cynthia BarrettaNothing to do while waiting in emergency room than to read the reviews of this hospital. I have been waiting for 3 hours for my husband to get results. I don’t know how much longer we have to wait, but kind of feel more fortunate than others after reading the reviews. The administrator should be ashamed of themselves. The wait time in emergency is too long. Read the complaints.steve francischettiDr.Charles Park had done a simple surgery on my lower lumbar spine. This is what I know. The surgery failed and how I can prove is he told me they dropped me.Also why else would i have another surgery 3 weeks after the 1st one,on the same area in spine.Oh and get this the second surgery was done at harbor hospital. I have proof. This is wrong doing and hospital negligence again.tiffany smith⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I came in on Saturday with severe abdominal pain, I will say that the ER was extremely slow but the staff was very nice. Once they identified what the problem was I was taken care of right away. The nurses, doctor’s, surgical team and other aides were very nice. They kept my family and I in the loop about everything and they talked me through so much because they could see I was nervous about having to get put to sleep and have surgery done.Liza Holley⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI would like to thank the ER nurses and Ashley on the ICU unit for saving my son life. The staff were amazing! A special thank you to Security, Tech’s, Nurses, Sitters and all the doctors who played a major part in saving my son. You Rock! 🙂Ha Tran⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI’d like to thank Ms Monica Sears at Telemetry Unit who was kind to every patients there, she always smile and happy when serving, she remembered the habits of patients need, and always help patients out. Again, I appreciated what Ms Monica Sears did when I was in the hospital.#1 momWent in with very bad pain and a problem. Left after 2 days still a lot more pain . Its early Monday morning in tears cause my issue is getting worst. I am going to another hospital to see what they have to say and do. I wouldn’t even gave a star but that’s the only way you can write something. I use to love this hospital but not anymore n probably will never go again. But they will hear from me if another hospital finds something . Michelle BrooksStaff were friendly, that’s the only positive thing I can say about my trip to the emergency room after arriving by ambulance due to my car being totaled on 695 because someone ran into me. After 3 hours of sitting with what seemed to be 50 other people waiting to be seen, I discharged myself. I’m pretty sure I have a concussion but I could not sit there any longer, so I left at 1am with a swollen face, bad ear and head pain and lower back pain. I’ll just go to a more efficient hospital tomorrow and hope I didn’t fracture any facial bones. Oh and the bathroom they had me go in to leave a specimen was filthy! Franklin Square is a depressing place all around with super slow service. I will not return.Tchotchovi AllaganWaste of time. I do not recommend this hospital. Me and my small child were sent back to the waiting room after her x-ray after waiting for 4 hours.John BradenThe ER is ridiculous. It just doesn’t move. The ladies at the desk aren’t rude or anything, it just doesn’t move along. I guess there aren’t enough doctors but honestly, the reviews here really paint a true picture and anyone who can should go elsewhere. This ER is the absolute worst. I’d comment on the doctor but I’ve been here for 7 hours and I haven’t seen one.Joe JenkinsWorst experience In the emergency room! Started at 5:30 it is now 9pm and we are still in the waiting area. Another lady has been here since noon. I don’t understand how this hospital is run but the emergency room patients are not a priority like they should be. Please send me the link so I can send more feedback!Kayla Smith⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedCame in through ER on a friday night due to severe food poisoning and blood sugar problems. Was seen with in 20 minutes of arriving, had fluids going within 45 and we in the icu within 6 hours. The nurses and doctors are all so nice and attentive.Zoe GialamasComplete lack of care and service. Very unpleasant and uncomfortable.Robin ThompsonIf I could leave 0 stars I would, my daughter arrived there by ambulance and when she arrived she was sat in a hallway for over 40 minutes. During the time of the arrival the lights went off, their system was also down. The doctors was very nasty and careless as well. When I told them I was taking my child to another hospital they told me I couldn’t sit in the hospital and wait for my ride, I would have to sit by the sliding doors and wait. This was by far the worst emergency visit ever!!!!Dee AddisonBrought my mom here at 11:30 a.m with severe back pain, at 5:04 p.m. we was still waiting in the waiting room!!!! They wouldn’t even give her pain meds!!! She was finally taken back at 5:20p.m. AND they don’t even know what she here for!! One nurse asked her when was her accident THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT!!! THEN the other nurse wanted her hooked to monitor for her chest pains. THERE IS NO CHEST PAIN ITS HER BACK IDIOTS!!!!!! WORST ER EVER!!!! DON’T COME HERE IF YOU WANT TREATMENT BUT DO COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO WATCH NURSES AND TECHS WALKING AROUND ENJOYING EACH OTHER INSTEAD OF WORKING!!!! I agree with everyone else!!! If I could give no stars I would!!!!Erin BurkeZero stars if it were possible. Got here @ 12:15 and got seen relatively quickly because I was exposed to Carbon Monoxide. Then they took my blood. I’ve now been sitting here waiting for results for almost 3 hours. Everyone in the waiting room is in immense pain. If they’re so understaffed hire more people! When you’re getting triaged the nurses sit there and laugh at what you tell them. Most importantly I don’t understand why they would rush me into getting an “ekg” which was NEVER done, especially when I told them I had chest pains, if in all, I’d be sitting here for 2.5 hours waiting on blood work. I was told there were 2 people ahead of me waiting for their results. This was 2.5 hours ago. They really don’t care about you and what’s wrong with you, you probably have to be dying on their hospital floor for them to show any type of respect to you. Take the time out to go to St Joes honestly this is absurd. I’m really blown away by the negligence that everyone shows here when there’s actually serious stuff going on among the patients waiting hours and hours on end to be seen.Toni Newman⭐️⭐️Very bad experience I gave two stars(they deserve 5 stars alone) for the few good nurses that were a blessing and in my opinion helped keep my mother alive (Joy) being one in particular and Mya on the 5th floor. KC was a evil nurse that had no patience for a elderly person screaming out in pain. The Doctors have no compassion and just want to count an elderly person off as a lost cause. They take no responsibility for their mistakes. They immediately wanted hospice for my mom that came in with seizures. Told me she wouldn’t live three days because of her condition. She’s still living but I’m so much pain from bed sores and in infection. Vitals are still on point without machines. She does a have a small feeding tube for nutrition. The residents run the hospital and charge nurses are oblivious to what’s going on in those hospital beds filled with patients. Some are still studying for school to further their position and stay in their computers. The higher the position the more evil they are as if they could never see themselves or loved ones in a bad health position…I could go on but I’m notdilek antI wish I could rate this place with 0..I would rather die on streets!! Very very bad experiences. Incredibly Unprofessional staff!!They have no idea what are they doing?? Least 8 hours waiting time ER!! Next time no Thanks!!! No more Franklin scare. Good luck.Ravensgal 6Got here at 6:55pm. I told the PA why I was here. She sent me for an x-ray. I was never seen again. Being up at 4:30am, nothing to eat all day and being tired sent my anxiety up, the pain in my foot got worse because I couldn’t put it up, just had to keep it on the floor. The people I did deal with were nice. I can’t even tell if a Dr was here I haven’t seen one. I had to leave this place. After 5 hours of sitting on the most uncomfortable chairs, my back hurts. No food in my stomach all day and now a migraine. This place is the worst.John Bolton⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was just in there for a hernia operation. Outpatient side. All the staff that was there was excellent from the time I was in until it was time for me to go home. Everyone was so nice and helpful in that area. I thank everyone that was with me during my. Surgery. Great staff and doctors especially Dr. Matsuura for doing my operation. Great Doctor!!!!! Thank uBrandon Brilhart⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER Recommendedbruhhh i was born here. this place hits different, no cap.Kevin LaMartina⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGreat ER Staff on 10/5/19 at 7:30pm! Haven’t always had good experiences at Franklin Square. However, the staff on this evening were really the A-Team. My Dad is 89 and was brought in by ambulance for severe urinary tract infection. The nurse in the ER was wonderful! All of the staff that tended to him were great and kind. Even the house keeping staff smiled and said hello. One young man with dark blonde hair and light blue scrubs came over in the ER, introduced himself, took off his glove and shook my hand. He then asked me if I needed anything or if he could be of assistance. Now that’s Class and Courtesy! I’m only sorry I didn’t remember all their names. “Dr. George” was the doctor on duty at the time. Even the tall, blonde young man who transported my Dad for his scan was kind and polite. Kudos and gratitude to the staff on duty that evening! You should be so proud of what you do and how you do it. I should know great patient care when I see it… I’ve worked in hospitals with cancer patients for over 20 years myself. Thank you for taking such good care of my Dad, your kindness, professionalisms and efficiency. Sincerely, Kevin LaMartinaRyland GlassIf you are sick don’t come to this er my wait time is between 10 and 14 hours. I have been here many timesZachary Currier12 hours to have my mother seen. How is this acceptable?Donna Sutton⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Always clean, staff very friendly.UniteAllTribes⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWonderful hospital, yes the e.r. can get pretty crowded but if you want to be seen by the best doctors, nurses, surgeons etc., then this is the best hospital you can go to.Brian WeidowBrought my son here because he suffered a seizure at home because It was the closest hospital. By the time we got here he was back to normal and they said all they are going to do is monitor him. HELLO HOW ABOUT CONTACTING THE ON CALL PEDIATRIC NEUROLOGIST!!!? On top of that taking blood pressure and heart rates in a public lobby just for vitals. Anyone heard of HIPPA!?!John Pinter⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGreat place for a quick fixer upper!Angela BrownEmergency services is awful they need to do better the staff is friendly but the service itself sucksmo sVery very bad short in nursery and doctors they don’t wheel chair and the receptionist is so rude waiting room is crowded and full from 3.30 pm till midnight me and my wife and 4 years daughter waiting to be seen by doctorBrandy HoodWould give it No stars if possible…Brought by ambulance just to be put in the Emergency waiting room for 5 hours now. Supposed to be waiting for the fast rooms but haven’t been called yet. Now back in a room 5 and 1/2 hours later, no one has even come in yet. Very unprofessional and unclean. Definitely would not recommend unless you want to possibly die in the waiting roomMia LoweryDo not come to this hospital if you have an actual emergency. Came at 10:30 pm to get some stitches was initially seen in 45 min. Its 3:47 am and we’re still here waiting to get a few stitches. The wait times are ridiculous and the emergency room seems severely understaffed. I won’t ever come back here. I could have driven to mars and been back quicker. There were several elderly people sitting in chairs when there were many empty beds. I get that the people who are here are doing their best but I would give zero stars if it was an option. The emergency room needs to hire, train something but this is one of the worst places to come.Daniel ElkinsWife was sent here via ambulance due to severe lower back pain causing the inability to walk. Once in Emergency Room was chastised by the Doctor for not going to our Primary Care Doctor and coming to the Emergency Room (who goes to their Primary Care Doctor on Sunday via Ambulance?) No concern was given to the fact that she couldn’t walk or function due to the back issue. Left in Emergency for 10 hours then discharged with minimal medication, follow-up, or concern about future care. Overwhelming sense of “if you’re not dying, you shouldn’t be here” Nobody from the Hospital even assisted my wife into a wheelchair, or the car afterwards. Now the next day we’re in the same exact condition as we were when we called the ambulance; except for being poorer for the experience.Ruby CardwellTHE WORST HOSPITAL EVER!!!!! I went there because it was near to my house. I had a terrible migraine. They made me wait for 7 hours. I started complaining and they brought me inside to give me fluids with Tylenol and Benadryl. I waited 2 more hours and I decide to go home. I never saw or spoke with any Dr.Katt NixonWorse Worse Worse Er ever go to Mercy Medical I sat for over 13hrs in the damn waiting area to be seen ridiculous this hospital needs to get it togetherDave JohansenMy fiancée went in for a kidney infection. After two hours from being brought back she came back to let us know that no one had gone back to see her or the two dozen patients vomiting, passing out, and bleeding in the separate waiting area (that family is not allowed in). You are literally better off dying before visiting here. AND TO ADD TO THIS. The gentlemen throwing up ran into the hallway to ask for a nurse and was told by a nurse “go to the bathroom if you don’t feel good” also the fella that was passed out (after repeatedly asking nurses to check his vitals because he felt like he was going to pass out) was told “you can’t sleep here” rather than someone helping him and also left.all star king griffinThe worst Er Ever and I work for medstar don’t go the Franklin Square Er Smh!!!Raymond Richardson7 hours so far. Been dealing with an issue nobody can figure out, but they want to do the same exact tests every time then send us home. Pain medication came 6 hours after coming, and when she pushes the emergency button to let them know it’s not helping, it takes 8 minutes for someone to come in. Unbelievable how much people pay for this kind of service.Paula Ayers⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWait time is based on how busy they are I dont mind waiting. The nurses docs and techs were so wonderful Wonderful! Every t was crossed and every I was dotted. I am grateful for them!Lisa Clayton⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️They see you pretty quick and try to help you with your ailment s.Hospitals 101⭐️⭐️⭐️My loved one was taken here by ambulance, and they seemed like an pretty good hospital. However, I would say they should come to the room quicker when beepers go off and such. When visiting, we had to wait almost 5 minutes for a nurse/doctor to come in our room to see why the patient’s monitor(s) were making noise. (I could here plenty of nurses/doctors in the halls) I feel as something really wrong could happen when no one is in the room, and they wouldn’t come in to see for a while. Overall, good experience but I hope they don’t wait as long to come in the room when monitors are going off.Beverly Fox⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedNice hospital and wonderful staffoctavia james⭐️⭐️⭐️My THROAT IS SWOLLEN. I can’t even close my mouth and I’m still sitting in the waiting room. And everyone talks to you like your on welfare and beneath them. I’m upset!!!! I originally gave 1 star due to the way I was treated when I arrived to Franklin square. I wanted to give a 2nd review but I’m not sure how. Anyway once I was finally called to the back and the PA looked at my throat they began to take it very serious. Franklin square ran every test possible to attempt to figure out the issue. They’re also keeping me over night to make sure the swelling goes down. I’m truly grateful to say the least.Daniel LongerBeen waiting for blood work for 3 hours. Stuck in a corner with 10 other patients. I think they are waiting for us to die so they don’t have to help us. Update I have now been here almost 8 hours. I could have driven home to Rochester by now and would probably already see a doctor. They just don’t care about anyone. Starting to think this might be the end. May have to eat my chair soon. Keep me in your prayers.Teiana BThis hospital is terrible. Unless you’re bleeding out with less than a liter of blood in your body, take your changes and go someplace else. They are extremely slow and have the most nonchalant staff ever. There were patients sitting in the emergency room waiting room with blood all over the place. They have no sense of urgency, and it’s clear that nobody’s in charge. The emergency room smells like homeless people and urine. While I watched a patient come in bleeding from his ears and nose, the front desk sat there gossiping about who didn’t pay for their food order. I can’t believe this place is still open. They’re a lawsuit just waiting to happen.Cristi DemnowiczWent to the ER after my BFs ankle turned swollen, blotchy red, and warm to the touch, to rule out cellulitis whichcan be life threatening if not treated early. This was a Sunday evening at 11p. It’s almost 7a and we are still here, in the waiting room. He’s seen a triage nurse, had vitals taken twice. He’s seen a PA who ordered blood work at midnight. They had to redraw it not once but twice because it hemolyzed. The second draw was incredibly unprofessional (tried to start an IV that wasn’t ordered, missed and had go digging around-not surprised it was hemolyzed. I wasn’t there for first or third.) It appears that they are not taking patients back to the actual ER but sending them for blood, x-rays etc from the waiting room. Isn’t this a HIPAA violation? Don’t go here unless you have absolutely no choice.Sales And SponsorshipsMy father was hospitalized here and now 3 years later I can not even drive by this disgraceful death hotel. Now, it’s a 5-star hotel for sure but like the Hotel California you can check in anytime .. but you can never leave. I flew in after my father had a heart attach. I was told he was brain dead/there was no brain activity. Now some 36 hours after the event while speaking to the sole doctor on the entire ICU who came for his daily 60 second visit advised me that there had been no cat scan and he simply assumed that there was no brain activity because it was ”not typical.” I demanded he be seen by a neurologist. The neurologist came the following day..about 18 hours later insisting he had just been called. He later said that there was no indication that there was any permanent loss of brain activity. ( Initially a resident came to read the cat scan and started by saying ”I don’t really know how to read a cat scan so I’ll do my best.” At least there were residents..and nurses..there was one lone doctor who was about as present as Santa Claus in the ward. Let me tell you nothing like the hospital shows you see on TV. Nobody giving a damn.) We were told that still with brain activity there was nothing that the hospital could do aside from a very experimental treatment could be performed the following day. The doctor however did not support this saying it was pointless so I called other hospitals to find one that would and agreed to accept his transfer. The doctor was very upset and called the hospital and tried to dissuade them from accepting him. Ultimately he said said something like ”it’s up to you, you’ll pay for the ambulance to take him there.” Unfortunately my father developed a hospital born bacterial infection which caused his liver and kidneys to begin to shut down over that night before the transfer could happen. ”Clergy people” of various faiths all came to tell us how ok is to die and had absolutely none of the beliefs of traditional clergy of any or almost any of the faiths they represented. My father was later removed from life support. The hospital brought a basket with chips and soda while he was dying as if we were at a movie theater. The hospital had lied and said that we had a choice to make – if we did not remove him from life support at that point they would permanently install the life support device in him and it could never be removed meaning he could live in a vegetative state for decades, the rest of his natural lives. We later found at that the timeline they provided us to make this decision was incorrect and much rushed. As far as I am concerned Franklin Square had an active part in assuring my father’s death and there was a pro-death culture there. The clergy supported it, the doctors and nurse made 60 something sound like a long life lived. If you have an option, any option to go somewhere else..do it.Casey FranksI would give this place zero stars if I could. My brother was taken there for an E.P. and they did nothing but release him. He wasn’t even seen by a doctor. He was only seen by a social worker with an attitude. Then, they ignored the fact that we didn’t want to bring him home, forced him out without seeing an M.D. or P.A., and gave us no other options. I clearly remember sitting in the waiting room when the social worker said “she decides who gets to see an M.D. and who doesn’t.” After writing the first draft of this review, Franklin Square sent my brother a letter in CYA mode saying that he was seen by an M.D., P.A.-C, and a social worker, and that my mom and I had no issues bringing him home. So, my problem is since I know he wasn’t seen by an M.D., P.A.-C, and that we didn’t want to bring him home, why did Franklin Square falsify that information?Stacie EppsAbsolute worst hospital ever!!! My diabetic mother who also suffers from Bells Palsy was sent there from Patient First due to an abcess in her mouth. They had her wait 11 hours before being and told her she isn’t dying so when isn’t priority. She asked for applesauce due to low sugar and they told her they had nothing but ice water to offer her. How do you allow a diabetic to sit without food for 11 hours and continue to tell them they are not a priority because they are not dyin!!! She could die sitting there!!! Medical malpractice!!!Noor Ahmed⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThank you very much for your services day and night , you people are great with great humanitarian services , thank you for saving my sweet wife and sweet daughter’s life .erica johnson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedToday Dr. Ravi did an Echo test on myself, and she is so amazing and kind.
