MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Reviews

Before you go to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Washington emergency room think.

Sara Sisselman When I asked why they weren’t drawing labs on my unconscious friend that was brought in via ambulance they said “stat labs here aren’t good and they won’t come back for a long time”. They just let him wake up on his own and then released him. He has no idea what happened and if he was drugged. I would give 0 stars if I couldRochelle Mckenzie⭐️⭐️Arrived at 3pm. It’s currently 9pm and I haven’t been seen at this time. I was debating of driving home to Baltimore and going to Hopkins. Next time, I will listen to myself. This place is unorganized and griddy. Will not returnDenise Stanley If I could give a zero I would. The doctor was concerned my dad had blood clots and told us to go to the ER right away to get checked. They called ahead to tell the ER we were coming. We got to the hospital a little before 3pm….. at 7:45 we were still sitting in the waiting room with no one caring that we had been waiting so long. It wasn’t until I said something about how the whole reason we were sent to the ER was blood clots which could release at any minute and be life threatening and me saying I’m calling the doctor to get a script for the ultrasounds needed, did we get called back. Then about 15 minutes later we saw a medical student… now 30 minutes later we are seeing a nurse to take blood…this all after the doctor called over to see what is going on. Now they are moving quicker…. next time we will go to another emergency roomMohammad Saba⭐️⭐️⭐️The brand new nurses do not know how to put it in the arm. It is been trouble for last three times that I have been in the Emergency Department at GUH. The hospital charges more than $6000 but Medstar fails to provide a good service. Last time time my hind started bleeding by the time I got to my car in the parking lot. A large black area on my arm has not gone away yet after two weeks.Nathan O’Connor Wait time is unreal. Understaffed and lacking care for people in need.Elisabeth Huijskens⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis was my first time to an ER, and it was so comforting and easy. All of the staff was considerate, kind and helpful. They tended to my medical condition quickly but also were very aware of if I needed food or a blanket. It was such a great experience! I went in around 7am and didn’t wait for a moment in the the waiting room. I would definitely recommend and go back myself.Marale Garabetian I cannot give any stars. I was recently in the emergency room at Georgetown hospital and was extremely dissatisfied and disgusted with everything. The waiting room floor is dirty. There was a bad smell. The staff was okay. The emergency area itself was crowded and very noisy with the beeping. I will not come here again. I left feeling worse than when I came in.Betsy Diaz⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThey save my dagbterinlaw life !Chet Carter One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in a hospital. Checked in at 6:50 AM and there were two other people in the ER.They took vitals at 7:30 AM, telling me I should be up soon as there was one person in front of me. The ER waiting room is not heated BTW so bring something to keep you warm. As more people came into the ER after me I was trying to figure out why those that had shown up after me kept moving into different rooms before me. Around 8, a nurse moved me into a conference room and told me a doctor would be right with me. She wheeled in a cart with some equipment and left. After another hour of waiting I left and went to another hospital. I understand where all those people went to now- instead of the waiting area or an exam room they just put patients into office spaces and forgot them. Amazingly I had vitals and a culture completed and was waiting in an exam room within 15 mins of arriving at the next ER. Do not go to this facilityFaith Floyd I’d give it 0 if I could. We sat in the ER for 5 hours as those that needed help and complained quietly waited and those that complained went to the back. I watched a man and his wife as she struggled to get him to the bathroom when they asked for help the nurse didn’t come back and she took him herself and he didnt make it. So not only are you not feeling well, your care provider i.e. nurses didn’t care enough to help. Then even as I stand here writing this review another young lady didn’t make it to the bathroom in time and soiled herself. Come on people. Its hard enough to be in pain and to now have the embarrassment of soiling yourself and then get frustrated cause you have to clean them up!!! I am beyond disappointed in this facility. I have been hospitalized more then 20 plus times in several states and hospitals and this is the absolute worse care I have ever seen. This was a month ago when this happened. Just getting a chance to post.Empress Sudhara⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAwesome service. Compassionate care. Skilled staff. I needed a special kind of vaccine and they were the only hospital in a 50 mile radius that had it in stock. As a teaching hospital my Attending and Resdient were skilled and made sure all my concerns we’re addressed.Marcus Davis⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWell you never really wait in the waiting room for long periods of time, so you get seen fairly fast, and nurses an doctors are very friendly an understanding…Brandi Bohannon worse ER in DC. I came in Ambulance but still sat over 2 hours in the waiting room where i threw up twice and wet my pants and NOT ONE employee offered to help. I just got up and leftAllen Fulmer⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was checked in really fast. Everyone was friendly. The parking garage will only allow for a vehicle that is less than 6.2. If your driving a pickup truck that is taller than the maximum height there is an open parking lot just past the emergency room entrance. However the parking is valet parking and cost Seven dollars a day.Radiah Carson⭐️⭐️Arrived at ER a little before noon. Finally called back to a room at 3…no complaints. It was a busy day and they can’t control the need. I would suggest that they install vending machines with beverages and snacks. Get to ER room….TOTALLY DISGUSTING. Food tray from previous patient still in the room, sink had used paper cup, straw wrapper and some dried up lotion in/on it. Floor was filthy. I had to put on gloves, whipe down/disinfect. Nurse comes to do an ECG….doesn’t wash her hands, doesn’t wear gloves and doesn’t use the sanitizer (not that it is effective). Need to use the restroom (down the hall). I pass several patients in the hall (no problem…they are trying to accommodate everyone) (the PROBLEM…used swabs with blood on them still on patient’s tables, blood samples still on patient’s tables, bathroom is nasty). I came here because it was “Georgetown and part of the Medstar network!” Never again, I will go back to Doctors Community Hospital, where it is clean and they thoroughly oversee a patient in the ER. I had to request several tests and exams that were automatically provided at Doctor’s Community Hospital. I think Georgetown’s interest in teaching the medical students supersedes analyzing the patients as efficiently and effectively as they could while maintaining a clean, patient friendly/comfort environment.M S Received a call from my doctor to go to the emergency room ASAP. Came to the emergency room at 6:30pm. Its now 11pm and i am still in the waiting room. This is unacceptable.Connie Barnes Son in significant pain waited 2.5 hrs to be seen. The ER waiting room us too small and the staff are not pleasant.Fay Fay This is the worse hospital Ever. The staffs are rude and careless.
