Before you go to MedStar Harbor Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Baltimore emergency room think.
Samuel KesleyThis place could easily go down as the worst hospital in the city and their Emergency department exemplifies that. Long wait, very little communication , arrogant and pompous staff. Waiting to get care is usually not problem if communication is good. Waited 10+ hour just to be seen. Sat their and watch multiple times staff called security to put people out in minor things. Staff at this location desperately need training . If they could treat their customers on initial contacts like trash, imagine how they would treat admitted customers. This place should be a matter of last resort and only when the zombies show up and all other hospitals are closed should you think of patronizing this place.Santiago Serrano Adames⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy wife and I had our first born baby here. The treatment was great, and hospital was clean, and the rooms very spacious and right by a lake view. We had a good experience at this hospital. Nurses were great except for one nurse, but overall very happy. My wife had a c-section, and we stayed there for 3 nights. Juanita was the best nurse! She was great at explaining how to take care of the baby and helped my wife without hesitation. The one nurse who was not so good was Veronica. She didn’t explain much to us and got mad at us for not knowing, and well, we were first time parents. Overall good experience, food is clean and great, I don’t understand the bad reviews, it could be that other parts of the hospital are not so good, but maternity was excellent.B Sherese⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMY DAUGHTER CAME FOR KNEE SURGERY, I love this hospital, staff is very nice polite and respectful, it very clean here, there was not one place I went was dirty! It is a very great hospital! The nurses were great and , Doctors were great! I’m very grateful’nnChrystopher BowldingPregnant gf and I waited for 5 hours just to be seen. Took 3+ hours just to be taken for a ultrasound. There was a NEEDLE left in our room on the floor. Now imagine something happening to one of us with that needle imagine something happening to our unborn child because of these poor conditions and long waits. As I am typing this WE ARE STILL WAITING! With the needle STILL in the room on the floor after mentioning it to a staff person. I took a picture of the needle and definitely plan on taking action against this hospitalFrancis SmithThey dont care …just stay away…seems like my visit is gonna take at minimum 14-24hours. At the time of writing this review, I have been waiting for almost 10 hours just to be seen. Very little concern for or communication with their waiting patientsWilhelmina Burris⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff are always respectful, and knowledgeable. I feel they really care.Kaye GiulianiSome woman asked if I was currently employed. I am on disability, so I said, “No.” An assumption (false) was made that I was uninsured, and I am lucky to be alive. This was a nightmarish experience.Angelica HoldenHorrible! My pregnant daughter went to th ER for pain on her belly. They took her to L&D. Waited forever to see the doctor. Finally went down to have a scan. They took her back to L&D. Waited 3 hours and still did not get the results. I am so unhappy with the lack of care and attentiveness.Chasity WiseThey do not care for what is wrong!Whitney RayIf I could give 0 stars I would, I was just in their ER throwing up blood and in excruciating abdominal pain it was very visible that I was in a lot of pain but I think what made it so bad was I was just there a week before and they gave me a CT scan and diagnosed my problem so for them to leave me in the waiting room for 3+ hours and it was only 3-4 people in there other than myself was mind blowing even the other patients in the waiting area were asking why they called me to the back twice and send me back into the waiting room. After about 3.5 hours of crying and throwing up blood in the Er waiting room my boyfriend put me in the car and drove me to Mercy Medical Center where the staff came and got me out of the car took me straight to get my vitals done and to the back in a room. Within 45 minutes of me being at Mercy I had been medicated and the pain and vomiting started to subside. I have a Chronic Illness that Harbor Hospital has treated me for so what I went thru the other night really blew my mind! I will not EVER go back to this hospital!alisha davenportThis is the worst hospital ever . I went to the hospital yesterday 33 weeks pregnant headache, Lightheaded, Dizzy and feeling nauseous & they did absolutely nun …. they kept telling me drink plenty of fluids but that did not stop me from being nauseous and feeling dizzy. They sent me right home after having me in there from 5-10 even today I woke up feeling the same. They gave me nun for being nauseous I will never go to this hospital again or Have my child at this hospitalCharles RobertsonArrived at 10:30, brought a coworker to the emergency room. It’s now 3:55 and he’s still waiting to be seen by a doctor. We’re leaving because I’m told there is normally a rush in the 4-5 pm time frame. I’m concerned he will not be seen until 10-11 pm. If this is what passes for emergency medical care in Baltimore, then I feel sorry for the poor folks who live here. This is an embarrassment to the medical profession. There’s just no excuse for such poor service. Make that no service at all. Other people have been waiting longer. You would have to be insane to choose this place. Man with chest pains just left after waiting almost 7 hours.Raychelle Littlejohn⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I delivered my son here. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The staff was very helpful and professional. The intake ladies could be a little friendlier but the nurses, cleaning ladies and kitchen staff more than made up for it.Sandy Wyche⭐️⭐️⭐️I had surgery at this hospital on August 12th. I was a little nervous, because I have never been to this hospital, but this is the hospital that my doctor is affiliated with. I had to stay for 2 nights after the surgery. The surgery team was great, but once I got on the floor, I was not pleased. All the nurses did was give me pain meds when I asked and the tech check vital signs twice in a 12 hr shift. The nurses were in the hallway acting like a party was going on, talking all loud about inappropriate conversations. I had a catheter put in and my husband requested to have it emptied and it still was not done for 12 hrs, I had to request to have my sheets changed, I was not given anything to wash up with, until I asked for it. I have been admitted to a hospital before and the nurses would wash you up, while you had the catheter in. The nurses never encouraged me to get out the bed to start moving around. I had to request that also. I knew what needed to be done, because I had 3 caesareans. The nurses may have been pleasant, but very lazy. When it was time for me to be discharged I was ready around 2pm, but had to wait 5 hrs for the nurse to finally print out my discharge papers. There need to be some changes made. I felt like this hospital has a staff of rejected nurses.Marcia FosterI’ll never forget how I was treated as an Emergency patient there! One of the worst experiences of my life! Nurses need to be trained to treat ppl in a respectful an kind manner!Robert Posey⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe best experience I had beene a heart patient Kim and Lear was the best on the whole floor Thank you for The service that you gave me Kim and Leah and the staff The best thank you againPat EunisI am so furious that my daughter had to die in this hospital in the condition that she was in. When she passed away on the morning of 2/17/2019, I was so devastated and at the same time i was relieved. My personal assessment of the physical care that the nurses gave to my daughter was very good. However, I am appalled at the rudeness towards me. I had ridden a Greyhound bus for almost 14 hours to get to my daughter before she passed. I was exhausted and hungry, and most of all worried that I wouldn$0027t be able to get there in time. Friday 2/15 I asked for my daughter$0027s food trays because it was obvious that she couldn$0027t eat that food. Why would the staff be so rude as to treat me by refusing me a food tray, even when I offerred to pay for it. why did the nursing staff acknowledge the boyfriend as being in charge. He put a cheap looking ring on my daughter$0027s finger and passed himself off as her husband. I reminded they were not married, never had been, and Maryland had no common law marriage on the books that would be legal. On Sat 2/16 the boyfriend came back to the hospital with his friend. That man starved my daughter to death. Yes, the Stage 4 bladder cancer killed her, but he finished her off by not getting home health care to come to the apt to cook and feed my daughter and bathes her. At the hospital, no one tried to clean her hair or to even comb her hair. I was assaulted and threatened by the boyfriend. I called the police to come and take him out. As if that wasn$0027t enough, my daughter was being given 1 mg of a strong pain medicine every 2 hours to keep her comfortable and then a nurse comes in to give her a dose of Methadone –supposedly to keep her from the withdrawals. Yes, I called them stupid. Because pain medicine would not let her go into withdrawal. Finally, on 2/17 at 8:15 am my daughter passed away and she went to be with Jesus. I was abruptly told that I would have until noon to be with her and to make arrangements for her. But at 11 am, I was very rudely informed that I had to leave. My grandson had been threatened by the boyfriend so he took off Friday night and went back to S.C. I worked as a LPN from 1969 – 1979 at South Baltimore General Hospital. It became a top notch General Hospital for South Baltimore. I was a Med-Surg nurse on the original South Main 4 floor. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone. Some of the rudest people in the field of nursing and medicine.Ndubuisi UguruWorst place to work, A Nurse almost got killed in the Psych unit, terrible manager, poor security on the unit .Don’t Risk!!!Thomas J Horner lll⭐️⭐️⭐️“2006 Spring He keeps getting Cobs in gun battles.” I am 147, I don$0027t who this woman is that made that statement. I deliver to this hospital Lab for years. I haven$0027t bothered the female.Riyanne TylerI went in on 2 different occasions and both time i left in pain hurting weak and could’ve possibly passed out they didn’t offer transportation even though i was weak. Second time goinng i went in for an asthma attack & i left in pain very fatigue and the next day my muscles completely spasmed and all throughout the night i shook due to the amount of steroids they gave me. I completely hate this hospital & will be looking into a petition to completely shut them down i will be going to Johns Hopkins Hospital & depending on what they say will depend on if i should sue them the worse NURSES in the state of Maryland i would admit myself into bon secure before every going back here they could’ve killed me. I think every nurse and doctor should be fired and they should start over. A complete disgrace i will contact my lawyer soon!!!!!!!Tatyana JeterIf you care about your life and your loved ones DO NOT, I REPEAT , DO NOT COME TO THIS HOSPITAL!!! This is the most ghetto-est, poorly trained staff in Baltimore. I came in for a simple check on my nose congestion and headache and I’ve been here from 10pm to 3am. They sit around and talk rather than tending to the patients!! I wouldn’t come back to this hospital if I had a booger in my nose!HILARY CAMPBELL⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️A good hospital with lots of parking and a great view of the harbor.Shiann NewmanWORSE HOSPITAL EVER! Do not come here. I waited 4 hours to be seen after having to be wheeled in due to numbness of legs and couldn$0027t move. I was not seen by a doctor and was in extreme pain. After not being able to bare the pain anymore I left, while leaving the nurses laughed while asking if I was “leaving so soon” there were people back there screaming for the doctor & all the nurse were standing around laughing and joking very loud like they didn$0027t have patients to tend to! This is poor service! Hospital needs to be shut down!! Doesn$0027t even deserve ONE STAR!Leslie Atkinson⭐️⭐️I have gone to harbor several times my recent time yesterday was for the stomach flu I couldn$0027t keep anything down for hours. Well my visit started off good they got me checked in and in a room within 30minutes. After that everything went down hill. They took forever to get someone into see my. I finally got an iv in and after it was done no one came to see me to put my over iv in for over 2 hours, after I called several time and my husband even went out and told the nurses my iv was done. You think they would wanna get people in and out of the ER to get other people in but that is never the case when I go there. They are always slow and dont seem to care about your health. Now labor and delivery was amazing after I had my daughter. But as far as the ER I would never recommend it. Everytime I$0027m there is slow and very unprofessional.Tiffay ShaneyfeltPut in what supposed to be fast track and it was slower than molasses could have gotten treated at an urgent care faster. And couldn$0027t have my husband in the room with meIan GainesSlow. Dirty. My first child was born here almost a year ago and I left the hospital with several bed bug bites. Our most recent visit I found a fly flying around in my water bottle I got out of the vending machine. Due to an emergency, we went back because my fiancée is expecting again and she had really bad abdominal pain; we got to the ER around 930 but we weren’t seen until after 12. Even after we were seen it took forever to get an ultrasound (at least an additional hour) and just as long, if not longer, for the radiologist to actually come speak with us. We still don’t know if this is an emergency or not and we’ve been sitting here for nearly 8 hours! It’s now 3:15AM and we still have yet to be seen by the radiologist. In about 2 hours, we will have been here for 8 hours. This is ridiculous. This place needs to be shut down. It’s a disgrace. We will never come back.Rose MortimerWe sat in the ER for 7 hours and was never seen by anyone besides triage. Arrival was before 9pm and at 330 am I had to ask why we nvr got seen, they had no reasonable explanation. HH is a joke. The nurses were gossiping about another patients reason for being there while weighing my son very unprofessional. Avoid at all costRenee SharpI waited for over 4 hours and i was watching patients being discharged but when I asked them whats going on they said idk. So i got mad and confronted and the lady at the desk was like well we don$0027t know when we will be able to take you in. SHUT THIS HELL HOLE DOWN!Adrienne HarrisWorst hospital ever. Staff talking when the waiting room is empty they should attend the patient fast and no be waiting to long when is an emergencyShannon Hutton⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedBrought my mom here twice in 24 hours. Second time was because of her taking too many meds. They were absolutely wonderful both times and very professional. Dr. Yacynych was fantastic as well as the nurses and techs. Not much of a wait time at the E.R.Amy V.Emergency room was well run. The hospital was an entirely different story. No communication or miscommunication from Drs. They let my father lapse into a semi-concious state after od$0027ing him on pain medication from a botched procedure. Had to get the patient advocate at another hospital to intercede. He was tranferred to UMMC where the staff questioned how his case was handled. He never woke up from his coma and died a month later. When he arrived at Harbor he was walking and talking and had been at work the day before. Do not go here if you can avoid.Mary Armstrong⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff, nurses, and doctors were respectful and professional. I just had a surgery done yesterday and they called today to see how i was feeling. I give it a five star because it was clean, friendly and the wait was not bad at all.Candi Love⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedSaved my husband$0027s life, he had heart and lung failure and they kept him in the ICU and the CCU until he was better enough to go home on oxygen. The rooms were private and they let me stay with him the whole time in a fairly comfortable bed/chair with plenty of blankets and sheets and they brought us clean towels and blankets every day. I was impressed. Harbor is much nicer than it used to be several years agoPatsy Bailey⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I had my first surgery at Harbor Hospital on Monday 7/30/2018, I walked in super nervous (I didn$0027t sleep at all before the procedure) and almost in tears because of fears. Although the hospital is a bit outdated (made my fears worse), the nurses were awesome!!! They comforted me and even made me laugh a few times before the surgery. I am really happy with the service I was provided and if I ever have to get a surgery again (I pray I don$0027t) I hope to have the same team that was there on Monday. Only con is the hospital is outdated.anairaty jacksonThey will let you die in the Emergency Room. I repeat DO NOT go to this hospital. they are super slow, I have waited in the Emergency Department waiting room for over 5 hours in severe pain. about 3 people walked out because they have been waiting to be seen longer than I have. many patients were leaving out after being seen and still no one being called back to be seen. One man left out of the Emergency Department Rooms and said “ they will let you die in here before you see a Dr. “ I still have NOT been seen by a doctor or PA. WORST HOSPITAL EVER. I work as a health professional, have a few licenses and certifications and I will never recommend Harbor Hospital to any patients ever again. If I could give 0 stars I would.Emily JohnsonPlease do not go here. We were new to the area and my daughter had been severely ill for a few days. Fever that wouldn$0027t break, couldn$0027t keep down fluids, the works. She was just over 1. We took her here since it was the closest hospital and all the did was some blood work and one bag of fluids. She still couldn$0027t hold down fluids. When we had gotten to a room, Dr. Robert M. Yacynych promised us we wouldn$0027t be discharged until she could at least drink and hold it down. He stopped caring apparently and told us to go home and only come back after 2 days if it didnt improve. We contested and he assured us in a max of 2 days it would improve so to just wait it out. 8 hours later (after not sleeping all night scared that she would die) we rushed her to St. Joe$0027s. They took her blood and when the tests came back, 3 nurses and a doctor busted in. One hooking up an IV and 2 trying to get her to drink while the doctor looked her over. She apparently should$0027ve been in a coma because her blood sugar was deathly low. Had we listened to him and waited 2 days she would have died. I never even got an apology when I called to enlighten them about the incompetence. Plus, I am still disputing their bill (I refuse to pay them for watching my daughter die and refusing to help). If you$0027re just looking for pain pills or to cash out on a medical malpractice suite, this is your place. I have never been a patient at this hospital, but in March of 2018, they admitted another patient under MY medical record and MY medical insurance and I have been living a nightmare ever since. Incompetence doesn’t begin to describe the manner in which this horrific error has been handled. Not only did they merge my and the other patient’s medical records, they tried to lie about it afterward! Six months later, and I am STILL dealing with the repercussions of the multiple mistakes made by this organization! By the way, this incident was NOT one of identity theft as the robot-of-a-person who responds to these posts tried to suggest. This was an admission error of the worst kind, either committed out of poor training, or pure carelessness or BOTH!!! The other “victim” in this case did NOT steal my identity….it was given to them when they showed up at Harbor’s ER. This also violated HER privacy as well as mine, since I could see all the procedures and treatments she was receiving when I got a copy of my health record! I also could see the same information when I received statements from my insurance company! The people at this hospital seem to have a wide and varied definition of the truth!RAESEAN SPlease go somewhere else. And choose a better place for your loved ones. I was in a lot of pain so I went to the ER cause I couldn’t see my primary care doctor right away but I didn’t know that they would make me walk over to the next building to see a primary care doctor instead of an ER physician. I should have told them to call me an ambulance to take me to another hospital but I was in too much pain… Well their primary care doctor still prescribed me painkillers even though I told her I wanted to do X-rays /MRI first to make sure that it wasn’t something serious. She didn’t listen to me. Also she forgot to sign the prescriptions. It was a horrible experience.
