Memorial Emergency Center – Mandarin Reviews

Before you go to Memorial Emergency Center – Mandarin, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Jacksonville emergency room think.

Susan Pal This is most money hungry selfish business I have ever seen. My husband and I went in because he scraped his leg really bad and we thought it may be infected. We walked and was greeted by a security guard. No nurses in site. Then we told it was going to cost $5,000. We said we had good insurance but she still said it would cost $5,000.WTH..They sent us down the street to an urgent care. What the hell is the difference.Diana Weirich⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDr Papavasiliou and nurses took care of me so well in my time of need! Perfect staff! Wonderful!Daisy Marie Decided to come here around 5am because I woke up vomiting and my throat was throbbing with pain. Here’s the cons during this visit : Doc ordered a CT scan and they didn’t test my urine for pregnancy first, I had to ask them to. This should be protocol (and normally is) because I’m a young female. I waited an hour after arrival and finally had to ask for something for nausea. Shift changed and the new doc came in to tell me everything was fine as it was just a viral infection of some sort, and to just take it easy. No vitals were taken prior to discharge. Upon arriving home 30 minutes later, I began shivering and my heart rate was in the 140’s. My temp was 102.2 so I got in the car to drive back, I didn’t make it and had to call an ambulance. Upon ambulance arrival, temp was 103 and they gave me an injection to slow my heart rate. Spent 2 days admitted at baptist where they found pneumonia on my lung and pumped me with IV antibiotics. But..the doc at memorial ER told me I just needed to take it easy… I’m still confused how they could have so carelessly missed all of this.Deidre O They just charged me $1703 (not including doctor bill that is still coming) for a 5 minute visit to tell me I have a groin strain! Highway robbery!Megan Cusack The most ridiculously priced ER I’ve ever been too. DO NOT GO HERE. They charged $3000 for a bandaid and some glue… how is this legal?Kristian Pridmore⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedEvery time we come here we are in and out! This place changes my entire perception on emergency room visits. Every hospital should take notes out of their book! They have a seamless operation and everyone is super friendly. This visit shout out to the lead Nurse Brad and Doctor Brian! In and out in less then 45 min!Crystal Matthews I went in due to yet another mishap with my birth defected knees. On the 28th I went into Baptist South as my father drove me there. and then unfortunately a few days later the knee wobbled out again. NORMALLY I LOVE the stand alone ER in Mandarin for Memorial. However at this point, I waited TWO hours in the room, no nurse, no pain meds, no doctor. Shift change okay, but “Welcoming Back Dr. Roberts” was a bit excessive, and another 30 minutes went by. For an ER, okay, but this place is usually in/out 45 minutes. I explained to Dr Roberts my birth defects, medical records and that my father and sister were waiting at Walmart. I had thrown up twice from the pain, and still no help. Just a lecture… The only 2 nice people were admissions and the x-ray tech. When I asked for pain medication from the push button nurse, he said he would talk to the doctor, who I never ever saw again. I expressed to her the Hydrocodone did not sit will with my stomach, and then a man showed up with no explanation, just discharge papers and a script for 5 10mg Hydrocodone. I know what you’re thinking, but keep in mind BOTH my knees come apart, I have 6 herniated discs, a degenerative spine disease, allergic reactions that have nearly killed me, and cause painful welts for days to a week. AND I HAVE NOT BEEN TO PAIN MANAGEMENT IN OVER 20 MONTHS. All I ask for is IF I am in pain to be treated like a human being, I do not swear, make threats, carry-on, I am just trying to make it through working, caring for my daughter as well as raising my niece and ca-taking for the house for my father as well as aiding in my mother who is unable to stand, walk, or cook for herself. ALL THIS without constant pain medications. But to Dr. Roberts, well she didn’t care to hear it. I have brought my entire family to this stand alone ER, converted my family practice to Memorial, and even stayed a week with them as they worked to figure out what was wrong with my gallbladder, and then immediately went back in in less than 24 hours later with anaphelectic shock and had to be intubated. If this is the type of service I will be receiving, I can just as easily take my families insurance money and copay money elsewhere.Dani Mena Multiple family members and I Have been seen & treated numerous times at this ER prior to my visit on Saturday Feb. 9, 2019. Its unfortunate because it only takes one bad experience to ruin it for good. I went in because I was having congestion, sore throat, fever chills & so forth. The Nurse swabbed me for Strep & said it was negative. The Doctor discarded all other symptoms I mentioned and sent me on my merry way saying it was viral. The nurse & Dr Brian Anderson were very rude and sarcastic when I asked to have an antibiotic prescribed due to my weak immune system. I work in the medical field & when a patient is stating their concerns and needs your obligation as a provider and or nurse and or staff is to fulfill those needs. To make sure the patient feels comfortable. Well I was discharged & it so happens that symptoms only worsened. I come to Baptist South only to find out I have the flu. To me that is negligence on the doctors behalf because no other testing was done to rule out my symptoms. Never again.Taleb Alnajjar The worst management and medical staff and services in this center for the first time I saw it in my life, and I ask all people not to come to this center, so as not to get them like what happened with me of bad services and treatment… And I hope the authorities to monitor this center and change this treatment of abuse because it gives a bad image of this city…James Garman⭐️⭐️I do not recommend coming here unless there is no other option. My partner brought me here around 2 a.m. after we realized I was having a drug interaction induced panic attack. I was concerned there could be a seizure risk due to the type of medication. Memorial Emergency Center is the first “emergency room” that I’ve been to that has no medical staff at the front desk, just an elderly security guard watching murder mysteries on the waiting room television. It was ~ 20 minutes before I interacted with any medical staff. As I was led to a room it seemed there were only two other patients present. The nurse was friendly and seemed genuinely concerned about my current state. After vitals were gathered, he asked for my insurance card and identification as he left the room. Shortly after a different staff member brought paperwork to be filled out with the information from my insurance and I.D. card. As I was filling out the forms, registration called the room requesting information from my insurance and I.D. card; to which I stammered out the answers. All that made this location seem disorganized and rather frustrating since I was still in the middle of a panic attack. The doctor, although not the least bit cheery, did his job effectively stating that my issue while extremely discomforting was rarely lethal and offered a sedative. If Memorial Medical wants to advertise this location as an emergency room then it should be staffed accordingly. I recommend going to a real ER attached to an actual hospital.Manos Giour By they way, Mandarin clinic approached me offering a discount which we agreed but never reached the billing services company and my debt is still as is. Calling back was just a waste of time with nobody knowing anything about the arrangement. Bad bad bad. In general a very bad experience I would suggest that NEVER EVER somebody go to this place EXCEPT if it is a REAL emergency. And that is because of the billing. My daughter was throwing up and had a nausea so we took her to Memorial Emergency Center at Mandarin Jacksonville which was close to our house. The doctor did a regular check-up, checked her throat, touched her belly, gave her a pharmacy for the nausea and we left. The process took more or less half an hour. At that point I have to admit that we were satisfied with the services and the doctor, however the real surprise was when we received the billing. Guys believe me the numbers are EXTRAORDINARY! The Memorial emergency center at Mandarin billed my insurance for $4,085!?!?!?! of which we have to pay the $1,467!?!? This does not end here. A couple of days later we receive the doctor’s bill which he billed our insurance $1,191!?!?! of which we have to pay the $953!?!? So for a half hour service of a common incident, the Memorial emergency center at Mandarin and the doctor, billed my insurance $5,276 of which we have to pay the half of it! I called to complain but the response I had was that they can do nothing and that Memorial emergency center at Mandarin is a full service ER and all services are billed as such. As a consequence of THAT response I am posting this review, to inform people of the extraordinary pricing of their services and try to help others to not do the same mistake we did. I would suggest, in order for the Memorial emergency center at Mandarin to be clear and transparent to its clients, to have a notice informing the future patients that they charge for ER SERVICES, explaining at LEAST the approximate cost of services and ask them if they can afford to pay. If I had that information provided to me at the time of visit, believe me, I would have left and go somewhere else. BUT THIS INFO WAS NEVER PROVIDED TO US! I felt cheated, exploited. Because charging $5,276 for a half hour visit is a pure steal. Can anybody trust such a provider in the future? A provider who doesn’t care about its patients but only cares to exploit them? I have never done a google review before but this is a HISTORICAL billing and I really felt ripped off. It is the least I can do to help others to not make the same mistake. Thank you for reading.Alyson Ouellette I’m so disappointed in with my choice to come here. 3 hrs one cat scan, ultrasound, and urine test just to be told I have a uti. I find this response unacceptable. I have no signs of this and it would be a new development from a day or so ago. When I asked about how the conclusion came about and it was treated as if I was a child asking an annoyed parent why I was told not to do something and begrudgingly responded with what my results were. Do not go there. lolErin Salem Not only was my husband misdiagnosed after the doctor ignored his concerned in the 5 minutes he spent with him, we were charged an astronomical amount. We had to go to a different doctor to get the correct diagnosis, antibiotic, and steroid to treat the infection. Memorial refused to work with us on the bill, even when we showed them the multiple doctor bills we had from our primary care physician stating the actual diagnosis and separate invoices. Their paperwork says their vision is to “inspire faith within our community,” but I can assure you that our experience was far different from that vision. We would have had better luck at a Carespot or similar facility.Herman German III The sign in time and being called to see the doctor was pretty quick, you better not have a problem so that you need to speak to the billing department. Having a seizure disorder that STRESS is a main factor to cause them (and they know it), the billing department will cut you off, interrupt you, and cause the stress to make you have to be seen by another physician, only starting you back at the reason you went in to see them in the first place. They are the rudest, have no customer service training, ethics or morals. If I wasn’t in the process of improving my credit to purchase a home/mortgage, there is no way in this world I would pay the co-payment. And further more once this is finally taken care of, I will never in this world go back to that place again!!!!!Brandon Blanchard This place is worse than the bobo putt putt course that used to be here. I came in with issues pertaining to my pregnancy. I tried to explain that I have positive and negative tests. It is fairly common knowledge that a false negative is much more common than a false positive. But somehow this “doctor” had no knowledge of this and simply told me I wasn’t pregnant. He even tried to insinuate I just “wanted” to be pregnant. He didn’t do a THING not one single test not a physical or an exam to try to help. I immediately went for another opinion and what do you know. I AM 13 weeks pregnant. They suspect my hormones are simply registering too high to show up on the test but in case that wasn’t what was happening they gave me a sleuth of other reasons as to why I was receiving negative tests while pregnant. Had I listened to this “doctor” I would be firstly taking 800 mg ibuprofen which isn’t okay to take while pregnant and I wouldn’t be getting the medical care a pregnant woman needs. These people are absolutely negligent and having a small wait time does not make up for the absolute awful care you will receive here.James Singger⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedRoommate cut his finger pretty deep and needed stitches. Wait time was 5 minutes and we were in and out within 30 minutes.Michael Powers⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis is one incredible facility for emergency care from the staff and quality of care to the timeliness and urgency in which they take care of you. The nursing staff that started my venture today all away to the great physician was an amazing experience for me when I truly needed to get well pretty quickly. The ultrasound technician was absolutely amazing by every measure. Having been around a number of years this was the greatest experience I’ve ever had in a medical facility. I would highly recommend this facility to anybody That is looking for high-quality care from high-quality people in an extremely timely fashion. Love these folksMike Beast Mode⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedQuick, friendly, clean & doctor was extremely thorough which I appreciated!! I highly recommend to anyone over other places.Piper Curry⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI literally walked in and was seen immediately. No wait line. I was in and out within an hour. I needed an x-ray done so they brought the x-ray machine to me. Everyone was really nice and seemed to actually care about you. Overall this place was fast, friendly, and clean.Just Ducky⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff and Doctors here are awesome . Went in with chest pain and was seen immediately. Was constantly updates with lab results. Very professional. Will not hesitate to return.rita fairbairn⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was treated two days in a row after a fall.I was treated quicly. The staff was friendly, proffesional and incredibly efficient. The best experience in a medical emergency that I have ever experienced. THANKS TO YOU ALL! Rita FairbairnKimber⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHad to take my young daughter in, the staff was great at keeping her calm and in good spirits. Quick service. They met me at the door with a wheelchair after seeing me carrying her across the parking lot. Great staff. Great service.Rebecca Jo⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI came here on a Thursday evening for help with a mystery illness that I just couldn’t deal with anymore. They got me in right away, and everyone was so nice and helpful to me. I had a private room with a TV. I did have to hang out there for a couple hours because Dr. Papa wanted to do bloodwork, urine, and a CT scan. Dr. Papa was awesome, he made me feel very comfortable and helped me to feel better about what was going on with me. He wasn’t able to definitively diagnose me because they don’t have an MRI machine there, but Dr. Papa gave me a referral for a gastroenterologist to follow up with for an MRI. Even though I had to wait for lab work and wait for a radiologist to review the CT scan, everyone made sure I was as comfortable as possible since my stomach was hurting a lot. Dr. Papa gave me two prescriptions that have helped alleviate my symptoms while I wait for my appointment to see a specialist. Very good place to come when you need an ER.Wayne Terry⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI became extremely sick needing an ambulance. (Almost at the point of being too sick to talk) The ambulance took me to Memorial Mandarin. I had no idea they existed. They took me in fast and explored. Treated me for Gastroenteritis. Excellent job!! I was something I ate the day prior. (Can’t have onions and there was one in something I ate, causing this sickness) They were excellent at figuring things out and making things happen, especially with them having no real info to go on. I was too sick to talk and/or think. They were awesome. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.elvisa skiljo Never again the charge you $10.000 for CT scan and $4000 for visit that is spend 30 min at emergency roomLowell Stephens Late night, something in Wife’s eye. Goggle search lists this place under Urgent Care as well as Emergency. Dr/PA/?? irrigated, examined, claimed saw nothing. Recommended more irrigation. Real Dr. saw the offending item later. $1300 + $250 @ visit! DON’T BOTHER WITH THIS PLACE. Unless you are a Senator or Congressman with Great Insurance!Mark Leno⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedTook my 15 month old son to this ER around 11:30pm last night. The staff were all extremely prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and polite. The doctor onsite (Doctor Papa) was a wonderful person. He was truly caring and attentive. I would 1000% return if our family ever had any ER issue again in the future.Christina Balding⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was treated for a back injury by Dr. Papa, who is one of the kindest human beings I’ve ever met. The rest of the staff I saw, Dennis the RN and Andrea the RT, were wonderful. It was very busy and later in the evening, but I was there less than two hours. Much better than going to the hospital ER!Josiah Azakiah This place is an urgent care facility that bills like an emergency room. Total Scam!!! Doctor spent 10 seconds shining a light in my throat, then prescribed an antibiotic. $2,800 bill(I pay $1,170 out of pocket), to say I was shocked, is an understatement. They saw that I have good insurance and billed them an absurd amount. I called to ask how a 5 minute visit with no procedures or tests was this amount, they stated it was a “level 3 emergency visit”. When I asked if that was the lowest level emergency, they said no, level 1 is. How is a 5 minute doctor visit with absolutely no procedural work done, not the lowest level? I have requested that the billing department review the bill, we will see how that goes. The next step is to get my insurance company involved. What is happening at this business needs to be reviewed by the appropriate regulatory bodies, and I will do my part to make that happen. I am writing Governor Rick Scott now. I will write the Better Business Bureau. I might write 50 letters, because I’m that type of person. People need to know that this place is unethical, immoral and anything but helpful.LC Tillman⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis team provided excellent care during a recent visit. In and out quickly. Attentive staff. If we need ER again, we’ll be back.Marie Woodard⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI took my husband to the ER with an extremely painful toothache. Everyone was so kind and helpful. Dr. Menze was amazing-reassuring and very knowledgeable. The wait time was minimal and the staff very caring. Would highly recommend.anxhel shkulaku I had a bad experience at Mamorial emergency. My wife was with terrible headache ( migraine), for about 4 days all day all night and We didn’t have other choices and went at this emergency, to find a little help, but We didn’t. First We have been waiting for 1 hour and 30 minutes for their service because they started taking information about us , my address phone number everything to be sure for their bill. I always talk with them make something for my wife because she is so sick and can’t stand the ache of this terrible migraine, ( that’s why it’s called “ emergency “, they should not delay the service) she need the medication as soon as possible she can’t wait for this procedure, but nothing. After this time they Injection at her body 2 syringes ( even the medical service was to late), these injections didn’t relief her pain of migraine even after 2 days of this service. So what she did call her father in Albania sending the medical that she has always use and learn her body, to find a little relief. 6 days in migraine pain and no help from this emergency but they of course didn’t forget to send the bill too, and it was 1,400$.Rebecca Hamilton Unless it is a true emergency, I would recommend seeking care from a different facility. On March 17, 2018, my husband woke up feeling sick and wanted to go to a facility that was open on a Saturday. He went to this facility as it was near our home. When the doctor came to examine him, my husband described his symptoms: sweats, chills, nausea, weakness. The doctor never took his temperature or tested him for the flu. Instead he sent him home with an antibiotic prescription. He spent a total of 4 minutes with him. Over the remaining 2 days my husband’s symptoms became worse and on Monday I had to drive him to see his physician. He had a fever of 104 degrees and tested positive for Influenza B. The time period for any antiviral to be effective had passed. Memorial Emergency Center billed our insurance carrier $2,841.00.Jen Booker⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI went in and my friend loaded me in a wheel chair and went to park the car. Brad came out and wheeled me straight to a room and got me in bed. Personable and friendly, calmed my nerves quickly. They didn’t even know my name yet and had me in a bed listening to my symptoms. I hate hospitals and dreaded every moment of it. The Doc which her name escapes me was vibrant and down to earth. These guys had my pain cut in half and I walked out rather than rolled. We even had some laughs. Thanks brad and the lovely Doc that was able to offer relief in such a painful time. Darth Vaper and I appreciate all you do!Jonathan Odum I went here around 4:45 am in the morning. The staff seemed to be nice, however were not concerned with what my issues were. They didn’t ask any questions or ask me how I’m feeling. One woman was upset with me for sleeping even though I haven’t slept for two days prior to that and asked me to call someone to come get me and threw me out of the room. She was very rude and I wish I knew her name so I could write it on here but hopefully she reads it and remembers. She definitely does not need to be a nurse whoever she was. I would doze off again and again and she would scream “Get Up” over and over again. You don’t treat individuals that way especially if they are under medication. The staff turned out to be rude, no empathy whatsoever and barely showed any concern. I doubt they could’ve cared less so I will never be coming here again and I advise you don’t either.Emily Calloway Spare yourself the robbery. I went in because it felt like I had been smashed in the right side of my face with a baseball bat. The Dr. Looked in my eyes, ears and mouth and just gave me a prescription for ibuprofen like I wasn’t taking it before I ended up at an emergency center. Copay was $200 and they billed me a couple thousand. Absolutely disturbing and overwhelming. Should have taken my chances.Cheryl Richardson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I suffered a deep gash that left no skin on the side of my left index finger, and a very large chunk of tissue missing. The staff was very kind and comforting. There were no sutures because there was no skin to suture together, however there was profuse bleeding, so the wound was cleaned and dressed with surgicel to stop the bleeding, but no ointment or gel was placed on it, and the surgicel stuck very well to the wound causing bleeding and great pain, even when soaking in 50/50 peroxide water solution. However, it is healing slowly and with Bacitracin applied before gauze. I would definitely recommend Memorial Mandarin to those in the area!gabrielle lawrence⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGreat hospital!! came in with a welding arc burn and they got me in and helped quite fast! only thing I didn’t like was that this was one of the most expensive hospitals I have ever been to.Vera D.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAwesome staff, clean, super efficient, best ER experience EVER, and I’ve had a lot!!!Cody Pafford I was there last night for chest pains and they were extremely rude. I have had a lot of health conditions in the last year from NOTHING I have done. I’m not an alcoholic and I’m not overweight. I’m skinny. But they treat me like I’m both. I asked about hyperlipasemia and the RN named Ashley immediately said “well you must have a terrible diet”. HYPERLIPASEMIA HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DIET!! She tried telling me it’s my fault. Hyperlipasemia can be random and holds no health risks in its own. It is just COMMONLY linked with pancreatitis but it does not MEAN pancreatitis(obviously because I have no pains). SHE WAS THINKING OF HYPERLIPIDEMIA. I know this because she then said “lipids are fat. We sometimes pull blood out of patients with this much fat on the top”. Um okay, well that has NOTHING to do with my condition. She then asked me what I eat for breakfast lunch and dinner, and she then says “well I would stop eating so many burgers”. I didn’t even mention burgers at all in any of my meals. I eat healthy. How about you educate yourself before you begin insulting your patients ASHLEY.Julius Smith⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff was friendly and I was quickly seen!Crystal Matthews⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff was amazing the facility was so quick with everything and so thorough. Melanie and Dr. Carreras not only put me at ease but made me laugh and smile! Thank you so much for the wonderful care and compassion!Carmelita Domingue⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedQuick service and awesome staff..would recommend to any new movers A nurse even kept checking on my 80 year old grandmother, who waited in the waiting area for me!Carolyn Coleman⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI have been to this er a couple of times now and out of all the ones I’ve been to I will continue to use them even though they are further away, well worth the drive to not wait in pain till you can get seen. I’ve never waited over 5 min and not much longer for the actual doctor to come to my room. I have received the best care in the shortest amount of time than any where in Jax. I would definitely recommend them.Mike Espin I went here 7 months ago after being ambulanced after a car accident. They ONLY checked my arm which turns out i had a broken collarbone. The next morning, my chest was swollen. I went back and they ran more tests which showed a fractured sternum (which they missed on the first day). Not only did they file my auto incorrectly TWICE, but also filed my health insurance without my Auto EOB. It has been seven months and i have yet to hear anything from Memorial. I just contacted the billing office and was advised they they do NOT follow up with the insurance once the claim is filed. We need to follow up ourselves.Mtt M⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDoctor Papa was very caring amazing including staff members am so front desk guard calmed me down was in and out fast service thank youJohn Smitb Up front disclosure. I knew this facility was classified as an ER and went in knowing the bill would be high. My insurance covered 95% of my bill, but I am still in shock at how HIGH the bill was and want others to be aware of what can happen at a place like this, even though I didn’t get stuck with the bill I find myself angry thinking about people unknowingly visiting here thinking it’s an urgent care. Our bill was $17,000! Follow up visits with my family doctor also raised questions to the overall care received here. For $17,000 there should be no gaps in care! My wife had a kidney stone late at night. Facility was empty so we were seen quickly, staff was friendly enough, no complaints. At discharge we were given a prescription for pain meds and sent on our way. Several hours later wife is throwing up the pain meds due to the severe pain of the stone and calls Dr on Demand for help. The physician is dumbfounded we weren’t given anti nausea meds OR medication to help pass the stone, just narcotics for pain. Wife was nauseous at Memorial so they were aware of this. This was our first kidney stone so we didn’t know we should be given these types of prescriptions. Speaking with nurses at work subsequent days later led to more disbelief we hadn’t been given the correct medicati
