Casey AndersenThe billing department is terrible. They apparently had me under 2 different accounts and I wasn’t getting a bill for the second one because they had the wrong address and therefore sent me to collections. The other account was being paid monthly and then I get a letter that I missed a payment so I sent a check for 2 months of payments only to get another letter that they will be sending me to collections if this account isn’t paid in full. And I have very good credit! Billing department is a joke and no help whatsoeverLaTonya Warnell⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis has been the absolute WORST experience of medical care I have EVER been a part of. Took my husband to the ER per our primary physician’s advise (from Marshalltown, an hour drive) My husband is in horrible pain and rated his pain at a 10 during check in. We waited OVER 3 hours in the waiting room and now the wait continues at intake. NOT ONCE has ANYONE offered to help relieve his pain, even though I brought his discomfort to the nurses station’s attention after patiently waiting 2 hours! At this point I don’t even know what to say, I am so angry and disappointed in this facility. Having worked in nursing for several years I can not believe the lack of care and empathy! However, with it being the holiday season food was delivered to the staff and nurses made sure ALL staff was able to partake in their festivities! While husband CONTINUES to sit in this tiny exam room in pain! Oh, did I mention they threw his test results in the garbage by mistake? NEVER AGAIN!!Shelby Johnstonmy dad had been in the hospital jere off and on for the past couple months and just cannot seem to get better. he had to go to the ER because something was not right he was rushed up in an ambulance and as soon as we got there they took him back. we had waited for almost 3 hours before we had seen anyone. when we finally did they basically hadn’t said anything to us about his condition or anything, the doctor had pretty much to him to “stop faking it.” he obviously wasn’t faking anything if the doctor would have even known anything about what was going on (which he didn’t.) the experience was awful and we WILL NOT be returning !!Le HayesI had an appointment this morning at 10AM with Dr. Soren Kraemer, at 10:45 I still hadn’t been seen. Told patient services I was leaving. The gal on my right got the nurse, the gal on my left didn’t seem to care. Nurse stated they were backed up due to weather. Ask if she thought that information might have been important to me? She didn’t have any answer for that or even an apology or thanking me for waiting, she didn’t seem to care. I asked if she thought I might be able to be seen and able to get back to meeting by 12, she wasn’t really sure? So basically I was there when they told me, 9:45, and an hour later nobody in the office bothered to let me know why I was still waiting or even when I might be seen. Terrible way to treat patients, a little communication goes a long way, had I known I probably could have rearranged my patients. Won’t be back.Yara LachelleUncleanliness. Pathetic staff & Poor service My physician actually said “you just wanted a note off from work” behind me having an sinus infection. This use to be a wonderful hospital and now it is the absolute worst. Do not come here if you care for yourself or the ones you love. Because they do notSusan Miller⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI’ve been here 2 times and I’m very pleased with the care from the entire staff.i request going here because of the care I’ve received and am currently receiving.Ryan KentAbsolutely worst hospital I’ve ever been in! Been here 8 hours with no meds no water no food or any clue on what is wrong with me or any plans on what they are going to do for me. I got transferred here because of the pain I have been having from the ER in my small town hospital after I had surgery in Rochester/Mayo to remove cancer from my kidney. My pain is at 9 and still no help there after 8hrs so far. Asked for just ice cubes to wet my mouth and still nothing after 1hr. I would walk out if the pain wasn’t so bad and I could walk. They even tried to do the same xray that I’ve already had 2 times prior to it but I stopped that. Never ever come to this worthless place!!!Teresa White⭐️⭐️Horrible experience. Laid in hallway for 5 and 1/2 hours..forgot to turn my IV on..the dr did not get the kidney stones in either kidney..unsure why none were taken ..he never did come talk to me after. Stent did not hold causing pain and incontinence tried to call to get some answers..but that was 13 hrs ago..soo dont think they will respond. Horrible experience and i work on a hospital so i understand busy..but come on 51/2 hours and checked on twice. UnacceptableJonathan CauseyBeware: This Hospital will create multiple billing accounts for one date of service. Then, as a normal person, when you do not realize that the multiple billing accounts are not all connected to your payment plan, they will send you to collections. Further, when you call them and ask them for help recalling the collections and putting all bills on the one payment plan that you are currently paying in-full, on time, every month, they do NOTHING.Virginia McMulinNo care coordination here. My father was recently diagnosed with incurable cancer they performed unnecessary tests. Took over 3 weeks to see an oncologist. After seeing oncology decided to order a pet scan which should have been done upon diagnosis. No one told him he couldn’t have carbs 6 hours prior to procedure made him drive 60 miles round trip two days in a row. Tried to push palliative chemo before the pet scan was even done. They had to have 2 nurses do his initial intake because their we were in an out reach clinic and the charting systems don’t communicate. This is a prime example of a broken health care system squandering resources and pushing tests and procedures on patients without providing any care coordination or guidance. We will be seeking a second opinion.Meki Banda BCoMSThe people that run this hospital are rude and racist and they are using the police to intimidate people. The last time I was here the staff were calling the black clients slaves. These are staff members in uniform.Debra Ellison⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER Recommendedthis is an awesome hospital I was admitted a couple days ago released today but in those couple days I received excellent care all the way from cardiology down to wound care and my nurse last night and I wish I could remember her name gave me the best care I’ve ever had by a nurse I wish I could remember her name she deserves the daisy award thank you everybody at Mercy one!Nicolette Taft⭐️⭐️My kids go here one doctor is newer and I am not happy as to how I felt my kid’s medicine was toyed with. It messed with my kids mind and psych symptoms and made him way worse. I was giving a different doctor and I love her. Now onto the night on the ER the ER staff was great with my daughter, got admitted with her. The night doctor and nurses were great, skip the the next day, was told she was getting D/C and to get her meds between 10 and 11, my husband took over, he tried to call the nurse no answer for an hour! So I made a phone call to the peds unit. When I spoke to them they were rude and asked who told me this information, I I formed her i was told by not only the ER doctor but both doctors i had seen in the morning. They had the nurse answer me who was also rude, she told me there were no orders for her meds and no d/c. Remind you the meds she gets at 7am every morning and i was told she would get between 10 and 11 and still no orders by almost noon. Unacceptable, I worked at mercy in CR I was now how the hospitals work and I would have never allowed this with my patients especially a pediatric patient! I’m very disappointed over all and the only thing that keeps me there is the very few doctors and nurses who go out of their way to show they truly care. I will let everyone know if they can go somewhere else to do so, because this has been a very rocky month for this family and the individuals who made this harder because it was clear it was just a job to them, no family or patient should be treated like that.Kristina CoughlinSat in waiting room for 3 hours after a car accident. They put a neck brace on my daughter then parked her here. When I asked how long it would be as we had been waiting and my daughter is obviously concused the check in lady got angry and said longer now. We are still waiting literally 3 hours now while people come and go.Maya Hennessey⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedSydney at the cafe made me the best patty melt which isnt even on the menu! She was super friendly and made me feel so much better about the situation I was in.Susan EtzenThis hospital has change for the worst when u have someone that needs help from a multi stab wounds to help with reseen u wait for hrs.with for adr. Or nurse to see u for the trama person .So if u ever go there they will not help wth anykind of drugsThe are starting to be like the state hosoitals and everyone knows what they do.Debbie⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedOn Thursday, November 14th very early morning, I had yet another exceptional out-patient experience in the Interventional Radiology Dept. Mercy One downtown 6th ave. I have an unusual condition that requires I.R. 4 + times a year. It’s easy to make an appointment. Check in was very organized Very little wait time….kept things moving along in a friendly manner. The nurses that day (as always), worked together like high speed internet! Focused and efficient with lots of attention to details….all with Care and compassion. I’m only sorry I dont have their names. They should be commended along with Dr. Cook. Not a second of pain or discomfort from beginning to end thanks to him and the nurses. Debbie Urbandale, IowaCatherine Grochala KlineThe federal Medicare ratings are accurate for Mercy regarding outcomes and responsiveness.Lindak Thomas⭐️⭐️The billing department very very lazy wanted me to pay for a bill from 7yrs ago for a procedure didn’t even have DONE wrong person i guess wouldn’t let me see a dr i dC. A. L.i have made Mercy my only hospital since 2010 . fortunately I’ve only had to go to them a handful of times . SOMETHING has changed with Mercy , i had to be ambulanced TWICE in the last 2 days, i told them over n over there’s something wrong in my chest that came on suddenly and quite painful . well, my 1st time they sent me back home with a diagnosis of ” undetermined chest pain ” .ha. so i get home , and in the middle of the morning the pain is worse , i can’t sleep and having panic fits. so they take me AGAIN , do a Cat scan and find out i have pnemoniaMeki BandaThe people in this hospital are rude and racist. They are using police to intimidate black people in the hospital.Hanif Ullah KhanThis is just a big joke Waiting from last 5 hours and still didn’t got any treatmentThe Marp⭐️⭐️In The E. R. most of the nurses are unprofessional. All you here is their annoying gossip. Bonnie was great.S S⭐️⭐️⭐️I had a surgery in Mercy hospital this spring 2019. The doctor was great and took care of me every day would visit me and make sure am doing well. The only problem was some nurses that did hurt me a lot when giving me medicine in my veins, very young and did not get enough good training or not focusing right. Two of nurses they were very weird and scared me, gave me the wrong medicine that cause bad reaction and one of them was asking me if I have pets in home and she was like touching my hand or shoulder like she is doing with cat or poppy. They need to be responsible for their staff training or watch what they are doing.Jazmynn Eslick⭐️⭐️I have used Mercy ER/Urgent Care/Clinics for years. All I know is Mercy. But, I have no clue what had happend! Absolutely horrible! My daughter has been since for the last two week . Still haven’t figured out what is wrong with her. Here is a cap of my last two weeks! Mercy Urgent Care in Indianola told me that she had a double ear infection. Gave meds and went about. The new Mercy Pediatrics by Mercy told me that she looked completely normal. Nothing was wrong with her. Well, Thursday she ended up in Mercy ER due to her breathing. I asked if it could be RSV, the flu, and even Croup. They basically told me there is no way it could be any of that. They took an xray and said she was good to go. She has not gotten any better. She definitely is getting worse. This is beyond horrible for Mercy!Carissa R⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI gave birth to my daughter here 2 months ago and let me tell you, absolutely best maternity ward. I was induced and in active labor for 32 hours. My first nurse Jen(which usually worked in the intensive care unit) was amazing. She helped me through all my questions and pain and was there for me. She would helpd my husband move me and I’m not a tiny person! My second favorite nurse Michelle was a trooper. She was there for me for over 12 hours, walked me through my pushing for 3 hours and was there the whole time when I ended up needing an emergency c section. The nurses and doctors at MercyOne are top of the line. I will be having my next child here❤Susan WolfeLazy staff, my daughter was in there couldnt get tylenol to keep fever down as she still is septic. Made her wait all day until evening to take her to OR still no tylenol. 2 hrs late by the way. Staff at desk to busy eating icecream and flirting with guys to answer lights. Performed a procedure, put a drain in and sent her home. She is being admitted again as drain not working, need people that know what they are doing. Unorganized, rude doctors three different diagnoses so far nothing has worked. Unexperienced people on staff. Go else where.Heidi RichardsonNurses there were very rude and patiets are treated like they are a burden.Sheila KonoMy sister was transferred from another hospital, from the moment she arrived she was disrespected. Was supposed to have bed ready arrived at 9:30 PM, got into room at 4:30 AM. Was on 5th floor, worst nursing care ever, light ignored, wrong information given to surgeon, took heart medication away from her without contacting Iowa Heart, which Iowa Heart specifically told her not to stop, questions not answered when asked, and let me tell you about discharge, oh wait I can’t was told could go home at 11 and it is 3 still waiting on paperwork, how ridiculous is that. Wish I could give minus stars.Rodney Price⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Saved the life of our dear friendsTesscarlson vlogzThey told my grandmother that she needed to get her affairs in order because she has really bad cancer. Well they found out there were no cancer at allPeyton Reed⭐️⭐️I was in a moped accident and couldn’t remember if I passed out or not. They stitched me up and sent me home without even checking my head to make sure I didn’t have a concussion… went home and for a week straight I was throwing up and had migraines. Went back to the ER and they ran tests to find out I had a severe concussion that they had missed that first time I came in. Also, a new nurse placed my IV in my left arm after popping two other blood vessels in my left hand and right arm and got blood all over the sheets. I’ll be heading into nursing school soon and totally understand that new nurses obviously need practice which is why I let her place my IV. However, maybe after the first time she popped my vein, the other nurse should have taken over! Two stars are being given for the friendly staff though! They were always there when I needed something which was awesome. Also was impressed with how quick they got me into a room to be examined.Shel MeThe women checking patients in are so rude and treat people with no respect. Not Professional at all.. I would suggest any other hospitalMariana Hernandez⭐️⭐️I am really disappointed in the way the nurses were towards my father when he was in the ER. They were mocking and repeating everything that he said making it seem like he was exaggerating over his pain. I thought they were very rude and the way one of the other nurses helping were laughing was not polite either. Normally I have a good thing to say but this was very disappointing.Bert Robbins⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe doctors and nursing staff are really exceptional Human beings..they go above & beyond their duties!!Michael TaylorI went to a chiropractor when i started having lower back spine and rib cage pain, after two visits to the chiropractor the pain was so bad i dragged my self to my car at 3 am and drove 30 minutes in agony to the ER. where i was checked for kidney stones and told i had a strained muscle in my back given what was maybe the weakest painkillers for i didn’t even feel the effect. even typing this i had to take breaks to catch my breath .12/11/19 –update– I was eventually diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis after my leg swole up, I was told the lack of blood flow was causeing the pain.AIf you want consistent and accurate care for any needs, even with emergency room visits; save your money and time by going to someone else. Time and time again I’ve been met with horrible bedside manner by 95% of the doctors and the nurses are not too far off from the doctors on that number either. If you’re Trans or any other part of the LGBTQ2, I recommend that you go get proper care from another facility. I was admitted into the hospital for 4 days, the entire time the staff was inconsistent with their care methods, for instance dispersing medication on time. Most of the time the meds were given to me at least 3 hours after when they were due. Totally over staffed, yet ran as if it was understaffed. Doctors and nurses spent more of their time talking about their daily lives outside the room rather than answering my our call lights or initiating care with the patience. Numerous times my trans friends were told by staff that they were using the wrong bathroom and were completely disrespected and faced personal issues because of this. Save your time, and your health. There’s much better facilities out there to properly care for you.Dahir hashiWorst ER I have ever went to, they don’t care about your pain. This doctor name stephanie she didn’t even want to hear me out what a joke doctor n very mean don’t waste your money this Er go Lutheran or Methodist hospitals don’t go this place you will regret it,T.J.S.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThey took good care of my son. Life flight as wellZaynaba MusaHostile and racist behavior is very prevalent at this place.da stacionis⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I went via ambulance with trouble breathing. Spent 6hrs, in the E.R.. After several tests was released and able to walk home, tests showed acute bronchitis the Doctor and nurses were wonderful, also the lady who wheeled me around for testing.Megan JohnsonI had the worst experience ever at this ER the doctors told me I quit breathing that is all they told me did not give me any report on what had happened to me. I was in the ER for about 4 hours and had CPR done on me. Mercy didn’t give me and info on why this happened to me and just walked me to my moms car when she got there and that’s all I know about my trip to this hospital.adriene smithThis is the worst ER I have ever been to!!! If u are having a medical emergency don’t go here… Go anywhere but here unless u love to sit for seven hours waiting to b helped.Kristin Van ZeeWorst emergency room ever! Waited over 2 hours now with a huge head laceration and they still haven’t even given him any Tylenol let alone even looked at the wound. Never coming back hereKathryn Carano⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedPersonable ER staff that kept me and my family member well informed.Tess FTook my 18 year old son to the ER with high blood pressure and chest pain. They did an EKG in him and sent him back out into the waiting room. We sat until almost 2:00 am and never saw a doctor. It was at that point we decided to leave. While we were sitting in the waiting room a woman came in that was vomiting uncontrollably. They say her in a wheelchair with a bucket. She vomited until she passed out! NOT one member of the staff came over to check on her! I talked to the lady at the desk and asked why they were making everyone sit. She was very condescending and said that the beds were all full and that they had to prioritize patients and that they had moved 40 patients in the last two hours. But here’s the kicker not a single patient left the waiting room the WHOLE ENTIRE TIME that we were sitting there!! There were the same people that were still sitting there when we came in that was still sitting there at 2:00am!! Do not go to this hospital if you have an emergency! Go somewhere else!!Khadga thapaOn April 14 2019 at around 11:40 am I was there to pick up my wife after she was discharged. I went to the 9th floor, room no 9 where my wife was admitted for allergic reaction. I went to the room and looked around if she was ready. At that moment a guy dressed in blue probably he was a nurse there looked at me like an angry bull and threatened me not to go inside. He seemed as if he was a North Korean army general. His name was NORMAN I learned from his fellow co-worker. My question is- Is this the way the hospital staff behave with the patient and his or her relative who visit there? Is there no action to such a mannerless staff from the hospital management?Bernadette BarberAm in Mercy Hospital in Des Moines Iowa where I don’t feel safe has anyone had that same problem and if so dont come to this hospital you won’t get the Medical attention your wanting if your looking for it. Go to another hospital you will be glad you did.Robert Atzeni⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Always feel comfortable coming hereGina Rose⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy dad was life lighted to the hospital early this morning in cardiac arrest. Sadly he passed. I am a nurse myself, and I cannot put into words how caring the cardiac staff was during this terrible time in our lives. The cardiologists came out and spoke with us and they tried so very hard to save my father. One nurse in particular named Lala spent a very long time with us and we could tell she genuinely cared. Thank you for everythingAmir IslamagicHorrible service and outrageous billingColleen Bunnell⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy father in law was brought in and is in the ICU. The nurses and doctors are wonderful and keep us updated on his status.Cassidy FultonHorrible hospital. Staff do NOT care about the patient. Horrible experience with ER for my daughter. PICU is also a joke, don’t waste your time here. Please take your child somewhere else!Rose Alyssa⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedEvery doctor I encountered was super nice to me. Even the woman stocking the room asked if I needed anything. I was told I hope you feel better soon by woman who took my CT scan. It wasnt just a statement it was genuine. May sound cheesy but it made me feel very at ease even if it was going to be a serious outcome for me. I appreciated their help and would definitely visit again with any other issues. Thanks to these people for helping people and having compassion.Teila Lathrop⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis place is phenomenal and would take any of my LOVED ones back over and over again!! Absolutely LOVE the staff! They treated us so wonderful, with love and utmost respect. Of we had concerns, questions or anything they were there to help and answer them!! Thank-you from the bottom of our hearts Mercy Medical Staff!! Much love and respect!!JOHN FRANK⭐️⭐️The actual care by Dr Harrison and his immediate staff is great. He called me personally to discuss a concern the after a further test he called me with good news so I could be relieved over a long weekend. However dealing with a two week wait to get a test schedule and other support staff issues regards prescriptions is a common complaint I have heard from others. I recently contacted Mercy with a concern and they did not follow up.Breana Schwitters⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedCame in to have my son checked..Edward Schneiders ARNP was great with my son..my son wasn’t feeling good at all but still made my son laugh..definitely a great doctor!anel omeragicHorrible place to go…. they mixed patient identities and submited charges under a wrong patient. The worst thing out of all is that they are not willing to work with affected parties and ignore to solve the problem. They have third party billing company to handle their bills and their system is totally dysfunctional. This is a 4th encounter for me where I had either patient identity confused or i was charged for something that insurance already covered. Stay away from mercy in general, they don’t care about their patients.Makayla Hellerreally rude receptionistChristi BurgessIf anyone has a family member on 9 south I highly suggest staying with them. My daughter was on this floor for a week and it took over 20 minutes just to answer a call light to see what you needed, then another 45 minutes to have a nurse come in. Lost vials of her blood, took the cap off her PICC line then accused us of doing it. The PICC took more than 11 try’s to get in and had to be taken out and a central line put in. Most of the staff was rude, and didn’t care at all about their patients. Had 2 people die within hours of each other, just on this floor. I stay with her 24 hours a day and have seen first hand the lack of care. Talked to “patient relations” who did absolutely nothing at all. Didn’t even follow up with trying to find out where the vials of her blood went. We have since moved floors and have received amazing care. Please, please check on your family members!!!Reginator⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe had a really great experience from start to finish! My wife just gave birth here. We both really thought our nurses and Drs were all very helpful, knowledgeable, and considerate of our needs and wishes with giving birth and delivery. We so grateful for the great experience!ryan peasley⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had the privilege of learning as an RN student at this campus. Although I had one bad experience with a nurse treating me poorly, the vast majority of the staff I encountered were kind, compassionate, competent professionals. Thank you for an awesome clinical experience.Torey MaerzTerrible service. It’s as if people here don’t care about you.Michelle HollisterMy mom, who has dementia, was brought in to this horrible facility this morning via ambulance after a fall at her nursing home. Covered in blood, my fater asked if they could clean up her wounds while waiting to have a cat scan. Nope, not unless she is admitted was the reply. Really? Then 6 hours later they send her home as she does not have a concussion. So they send her to the car in her bloody nightgown, dried blood on her face and no socks/booties or even a blanket, just a thin sheet. Couldnt even give her booties and a blanket?? Seriously? Im pretty sure the tremendous bill they will send out for these 6 hours would more than cover it. Real classy Mercy. Taking my mom to Methodist from now on.amy noel⭐️⭐️My dad went in for a stroke. While in the ER (for roughly 5 hours), no one really came in to talk to us. His BP was very high and we were all anxious. While I wouldn’t say poor care, I’d say no one really cares! However, Nurse Jim on 6N was outstanding! Maybe hes had a loved one in the hosp? Maybe he’s the only one that really cared? Maybe He’s a gift from God? I think Mercy’s bedside manner is very poor and their name says NOTHING about their care!
