Before you go to MidHudson Regional Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Poughkeepsie emergency room think.
Jon FThere is one simple takeaway from our visit: HIRE MORE DOCTORS. The lack of staffing was egregious. We waited over 2 hours in a tiny waiting room with numerous other people who were also waiting hours. Patient experience didn’t seem to be a priority. RN doing the intakes was trying to make jokes about my boyfriend’s allergic reaction. Didn’t appreciate that. He was generally dismissive and seemed disinterested. By the time we had been seen the allergic reaction had all but subsided and the doctor wasn’t able to see it in full force. That upset us the most, because our wait time actually impacted the level of care we received. For any medical institution, such a tradeoff should be unacceptable. The doctor was fine and was willing to listen and answer questions, regardless of the fact he couldn’t directly diagnose the allergy. He prescribed some stuff which was helpful, but may have been able to give a bit more insight had he actually seen the reaction. When asking various staff about the wait, the typical canned responses including “we don’t know” or “should be soon” were the only ones received. The entire experience was characterized by waiting. The doctor’s visit literally lasted 5 minutes. Even after getting to the care area (which was outrageously hot for some reason) we waited and waited for the doctor and then had to wait another 15 minutes or so just to get the prescription and discharge papers. All in all, we were there close to 3 hours, 2 hours and 45 minutes of which were just waiting. Please, if you are considering using this ER and are not on the brink of collapse, consider elsewhere. Because unless you are literally having an emergency, you won’t be seeing a doctor for multiple hours.Laura Goetz⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWalked into here after being disappointed by an overcrowded and upsetting looking Vassar. Was accommodated immediately by friendly and attentive medical staff. Despite being full, they got me seen, diagnosed and treated all in under 2 hours. I overheard a doctor trying to help a homeless man find shelter and chatted with everyone who helped me. Best ER experience ever, really!Mary Merando⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe have been to many emergency rooms in our long lives. Mid Hudson Hospital ER is the best we’ve ever visited. The care was superior. Dr. Papish and the staff from registration to release were attentive, compassionate, knowledgeable, thorough, and unpretentious. We were treated as though we were family. It was as though my husband was their only patient in their busy ER. My daughter is a nurse and starting a new job in a nearby hospital. We will probably come to Mid Hudson anyway if we need an ER in the future. My husband had same day surgery a few months ago by the best plastic surgeon ever as he has had many surgeries for basal cell carcinoma. I wish I could remember the surgeons name…. I will post again when I remember. The staff was amazing as well. The surgery was more complicated than originally anticipated but looking at my husbands face, you can’t even see where the surgery was done. Thank you Mid Hudson Hospital!!!ameed Rabadi⭐️⭐️⭐️Staff are nice and helpful but Waiting over 3 hours to see a Doctor is unacceptable.s s⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I am deeply grateful for Dr. Ravinder Paul Sidhu and the nurses who treated me in the Fast Trak ER. Only disappointment was waiting over an hour for someone to see me in the FAst Trak even though I was the only person there.
