Before you go to North Okaloosa Medical Center, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Crestview emergency room think.
Brittany Mendiola⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Was here that I gave birth to my son about a week ago. There is always a speedy process to get transferred to the labor and delivery section from the emergency room. Just go to the person who takes the vitals and tell them you need to go to labor and delivery and you won’t have to wait in line to be called. They come get you in a wheel chair and take you upstairs to the labor section. Staff were nice and supportive and offered lots of help after the baby is born. Some nurses gave more advice and offered more help than others I’ve noticed. The check out process was long also by the way. The day I was leaving my OB doctor, Dr. Coates, was fast with checking me and giving me the go ahead so I can go home which was good but the pediatrician was taking a long time to check my son to say we can take him home. Another thing that sticks out in my mind is they haven’t got a photographer to take newborn photos. At the other hospitals I’ve had my other two kids at they both had photographers who came in to take newborn photos for the parents to buy which I liked cause it’s a nice keepsake. One other thing is that they don’t let anyone under 18 in the delivery room when the baby is being born. Some people can’t find a babysitter last minute if labor is a surprise like mine was. Luckily we found one just in the nick of time cause my husband nearly missed the birth cause he had to go to a friends house and wait for him to drive over from Fort Walton Beach to watch the other two kids. My husband got back from dropping of the other two kids like 15 minutes before the baby was out and very nearly missed it. I think labor sections of hospitals should have a short time daycare for people who haven’t got anyone to watch other kids. For the most part it was all good and I haven’t got really any complaints but the long wait for the pediatrician to let us go home and the part of them not having a photographer for the labor section.Joseph Nelson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAll the nurses, doctors, housekeeping staff where great!! Robin especially the RN that looked over me definitely deserves 5 stars. The lady (don’t remember her name) that served me my meals was outstanding and definitely deserves the 5 stars as well and great recognition as she took extra time each meal explaining the entire meal each time and was as pleasant as possible!! Everyone treated me with the best of stay of any hospital stay ever. I really appreciate each and every one of them. I appreciate the cleanliness of the hospital as well. With all the above including my superb treatment I definitely rate this hospital a full 5 stars!Michael CarterThis was the worst experience I have ever had in your facility! The nurses absolutely did not care and at times were actually hateful!! I will never ever use your facility again, not in my conscience mind; will I ever use that facility again! The only way I might wind up there is if I am in an accident, and am transported by ambulance;: and then I would hope they would take me elsewhere!!! Angry, in pain, disappointed, Michael Carter The only person who showed me any compassion was Mrs. Mullins (The lady that rolled me out to my vehicle and helped me get into it, I give her a gold Star)Eugenia Williams⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe hospital was very clean. The whole staff was very nice and very caring. they took very good care of me . Staff let me know what was going on at all times. I think it was just an exceptional experience and I was there for a week…Thank you everyone.Abbigail Hughes⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDelivered my second born here, it was a caring, and smooth experience. I’d have no problem coming again, and suggesting it to othersBryan⭐️⭐️Smashed my hand up really bad working on my car. I waited 3+ hours to get seen by a doctor. When I finally got seen i asked for pain control medication while we waited for Xrays because my hand was swollen twice the size as normal and throbbing with pain. He actually laughed and said “Well you probably shouldn’t of voted for Rick Scott” and walked away. WHAT DOES POLITICS HAVE TO DO WITH MY MEDICAL CARE. AND WHO SAID I VOTED FOR RICK SCOTT. This is completely unacceptable for a medical care facility.Chefy Mc Chef Face !worst hospital in the world. Not being dramatic. Idk who is running the billing department but they literally are calling me saying I owe them money for a ER visit for my daughter. I have insurance on her. There was a copay!!!! that’s it. I’ve heard they sue people that can’t afford the ER visit. What kind of soulless hospital is this ? I hope to god they try to sue me…Lisa Bruning⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWent to the ER. Staff are very kind, caring and sympathetic. I have major ‘white coat syndrome’ so this was definitely a plus for me..Steve Temby⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe whole staff was courteous, kind and helpful I’m very pleased with everyone who was working there especially Courtney.mardie krumlauf⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAll the staff/hospital employee names that were written daily on my white board were excellent and attentive to my needs and questions. My two Hospitalists and their PA were superb. My two consulting physicians were outstanding.chuck mcarthur⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedNorth Okaloosa Medical Center took very good care of me from the ER Department to the cath lab on to ICU and finally the PCU unit thank you everybodyRita MillsI was there 3 yrs ago. The ER staff was awesome. I had a dental abcess and was very sick with a fever and in so much pain. They said I was almost septic and they admitted me. Every time the Dr made his rounds, he felt the need to tell me, “I dont know why they admitted you. We are not a dental hospital.” He made that statement to me at least 3 times. Like I was a waste of his time. I had to beg for pain medication. They never cleaned my room even though I was there for 4 days until the last night of my stay. The person who cleaned it had obviously not been trained to properly clean in a hospital setting. They used the same rag to clean everything including a toilet chair and then the table and light switch making the whole room a biohazard. No wonder people get so sick from being in the hospital.Cortney RingerThe CNAs were not communicating with one another while moving my bed to another room. Slammed it into the wall and had to move it in and out of the elevator, mind you I had an abdominal hysterectomy. They also did not check my vitals as they should have once moved from floor 3 to floor2. It was a very rough staff for the most part however nurse Andrea and nurse andra were amazing as well as me Betty the phlebotomist. Dr. Hamby was amazing Barbara Arthur⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe doctors and nurses were wonderful. They took very good care of me. I feel so blessed to have had great care.Niyoka Williamson⭐️⭐️Where do I begin? So my mom was admitted back in October 2019 for low sugar levels and was told to stop taking a certain medication from her primary doctor, well NOMC prescribed my mom w/ a medication to pull her levels down even lower in which they told her to take only when her levels are low, well comes to find out from her primary doctor NOMC prescribed her w/ a medication that almost caused her to go into a diabetic coma. The 2nd thing, this band aid clinic discharged my mom w/ an 18 gauge IV needle in her arm. I have pics to prove it. I appreciate the hospital getting her levels back up, but I didn’t appreciate this place prescribing the wrong medication.Christian Wright⭐️⭐️⭐️My son had to do phototherapy overnight and everytime I had a concern that night and called the desk, the nurse there was extremely rude and impatient. Me being a first time mother of only 6 days, I was worried about my son. She could’ve been more considerate. Our room was also very cold, the window was letting in cold air all night and my child was only in a diaper all night under the lights. Our stay was very stressful. But the nurses who were on the floor for my room were all very nice and kind and the lactation consultant was very helpful. Also, the room service people were very kind and the food was very good.VirgilDoc Purple HeartWhat a shit show DR RINGEL put on while doing my no medication colonoscopy literally screaming at me several times while doing the procedure. He did not talk to me about what he was doing or seeing or keep me abreast of how things were progressing only total coldness. While two nurses stood doing nothing on each side of me talking non sense to each other the RAGING DR RINGEL yelled ANSWER ME IM TALKING TO YOU and TURN OVER OR I CANNOT DO MY JOB and finally when finished and recovering the RAGING Dr RINGEL passed my bed while yelling GET OUT OF HERE AND GO HOME TO YOUR HOUSE TO RECUPERATE! What a worthless group on people covering up for each other while doing a horrible job and abusing patients. The VA sent me to DR RINGEL for the colonoscopy and RINGEL AND COMPANY will never see this Combat Wounded Veteran again. AVOID RINGEL AT ALL COSTS!Tony⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy heartbeat was at 240 BPM and so I had to go to Nth Okaloosa Medical Centre. They took absolute care of me. They staff were so good very friendly except the lady from the checkout office. She was quite rude and definitely not friendly, Perhaps that’s why she works at night!! She wanted payment right there while I’m laying in the hospital bed!! My nurse, Grant, Bert and all of the Drs including the soon to be paramedics were brilliant. They got my heart rate down to 100bpm and then I left. Yes it is the most expensive hospital in Florida for people without insurance and the mark up is over 1600% but they saved my life. They all deserve to be given hero medals for what they have to see and what they have to do on a daily basis. Thank you to all from the bottom of my heart.Scott McCalla⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was well taken care of by NOMC. Thank you very much!Ruby C.When I brought my son to the ER since his right eye was lacerated from a tree falling onto him, he was bleeding but the ER nurse just told us to sit down and wait for our turn. My son almost passed out on me so I could not wait and we left and went to another hospital which treated him very well.Jessica PerezAbsolutely horrendous care. No sympathy, no bedside manner. ER staff and service a complete joke. It’s truly a shame these are the people taking care of our community.Stacey Monk⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAll the Lady Nurses, lady Drs, male nurses and staff were very great. No complaints. They checked on me every hour, and asked me if I needed anything. Thank You to all that worked that Friday morning through Saturday evening.Dave SuperDave Lyon⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I arrived at the ER at 08:20 on 4 September, and in less than an hour had a chest tube inserted. From there, it was 16:00 before being brought to a room. There were no pillows, no food or drink was offered(although I was cleared for both), and if not for the timely visit by a custodial staff member 40 minutes after requesting a nurse I would have been forced to either urinate on myself or the floor. When I was finally brought to my room on the second floor (South Wing) my negative experience ended. The staff was absolutely wonderful with the possible exception of one of the nurses, who I will not name because I’m not about ruining someone’s job because they had a couple of bad days. Other than that individual, James, Jessica, Katelyn(?) and Michelle provided wonderful care. I feel I must single out nurse Tiffany in particular. Her genuine concern and sincere empathy was that of a person who cares about taking care of people. Also worth mentioning for sure is Patricia from dietary, she’s an absolute gem! My ER experience cost you the 5th star. My admission more than earned the other 4.cecelia melton⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI could not have been happier with the care and the kindness of EVERYONE there!!!!Scott Tuers⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe hospital was amazing all the way around, for me though the life blood of the hospital is the amazing nursing staff that is always there when I needed them no matter what time it was, with a smile and something always encouraging to say to help me get over my health scare. ❤️❤️❤️Jinnifyre BlazeI knew better than to go to north okaloosa but it was the closest. Next time I need emergency care I’ll deal with the drive to any other hospital and I suggest you do the same.Mashaelia CraigSuper slow. I get that they have alot going on but, I shouldn’t have to sit and wait for 4 hours on a urine test then another 2 on blood work then another hr cause y’all forgot something. terrible wait time. 7:30 pm check in and 1:40 am discharge because I refuse to wait any longerSharon Mason⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Clean, helpful staff, usually not a long wait time.Tanya Iaskova⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHad my vein procedure with Dr. Brozzata! Good doctor! He did impossible with my bad bad veins! AlsoVery big thank you to all the nurses who was absolutely great, kind, and very professional! They were make sure that i am fine, comfortable and painless! These are my guys: MICHAEL, MaryAnn, Mike and very helpful nurse Cheddy! You guys are awesome Mary EldridgeWas in hospital for two days with Bill of $69,000. Glad I was a nurse and knew what was needed for my stay. After stress test was advised by nuclear med tech to drink caffeine (Coca-Cola). The ‘Charge Nurse’ advised me that I had to call dietary to get Coke since they do not have on floor and did not bother to give me the extension number. Had to call hospital operator to get number—this with a horrible headache. This was just one of several issues encountered during my short stay. Only went to NOMC because ambulance would not take me to another facility.Stormy shoffner⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedRecently had my third baby at NOMC and as always I’ve been very pleased with my delivery experience! All the nurses on the L&D floor is amazing! I had nurse Shiela for my day nurse and she was awesome! Super supportive, patient, and reassuring, she kept me calm through my c section delivery. The CRNA Daniel who did my spinal also amazing, he spent about 35 minutes with me before the surgery explaining everything and making sure I knew what was going to happen with my body before it happened and making sure I understood that it was all normal and just part of the process. This recent c section was my third and overall the best experience I ever had with one. The team you have working on you is what will determine your experience. I had a amazing doctor (Dr.Cabrera) and a excellent team of nurses taking top notch care of me and my baby.Chris EstesThose hospital is an absolute joke full of thieves. They put you in a room and let you sit there all night, never come check on you but of course they’re quick to try and get that money. That place needs shut down. They can’t diagnose anything. They can’t read xrays. They can’t even come and check in on you from time to time. Do your self a favor and avoid avoid avoid.Ellie TerweyCame in to do outpatient lab work and waited over 15 min just for someone to show up at the front desk to get me registered for blood work. They are supposed to be open at 0800 and no one is even in sight. This is absolutely ridiculous and poor customer service.Oscar SanchezWorse Emergency Room Service!! No Bedside Manners!! Doctor’s and Nurses are Rude and Ignore you after the initial ER room visit! Please, Hire friendly doctors and staff that have experience in dealing with patients that are nervous and in many cases, in pain! Maybe you can reverse your horrible reputation!Seashadow CI just want everyone to know how poorly we are treated by this hospital! Our community would be great, but because of this place it will never be! DON‘T ever move here/go here, because if you do they will kill you either by making sure you can’t afford care, your life in general, or just ruining your life in any way possible. My fiancé’s Appendix surgery? They billed his insurance about $150,000! His insurance denied most of it, but why would you ever attack ANYONE with that high of prices?! More needs to be done! This is unacceptable! And in a community of almost 20,000!? There is obviously little team effort being administered in this medical facility. Don’t laugh like I did when someone told me they were the “highest priced in the nation.” It’s true. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere, elsewhere where you can breath afterwords instead of suffocate to death. Thanks a lot for nothing North Okaloosa Med Center. You broke my heart and my spirit for this community. I used this want to work FOR you. But, I’m not a low enough person to want to rip people off when they need you the most. Sounds like a drug deal gone wrong to me. I work in a prison now, to me you stack up equally.Kayden MichaelsThis hospital is by far, the worst hospital I have ever been to. I try not to frequent any hospital and have even been to hospitals in third world countries that are far better than this. Let me say, the triage nurse was good and polite, after that, the service went down tremendously. First, if you mention the word “pain”, they will treat you like a drug addict, period. I just went in for a workmans comp issue with my hand and just needed an x-ray, that’s it. When I mentioned the pain after being asked, the looks I got and attitude was shocking. It took the doctor over an hour to come to my room. Second, the room was dirty and not at all sanitary. The x-ray technician was awesome and nice and so was the billing lady. When the doctor finally arrived, he did what I call “speed talked” and was critical over the fact I couldn’t move my thumb the way I wanted. He didn’t touch my hand at all or even look at it. After ordering my x-rays, it took them about another hour to achieve that process. In all, I arrived at 3:32pm and left there at 7:15pm. I was not the only problem. There was a little girl who’s nose was bleeding a lot, they did not even prioritize her. Their check-in system is terrible. This place seriously needs to be shut down for renovation and some of the staff replaced. Seriously, go to Twin Cities in Niceville if you want proper care. This place is garbage. I would give this place -3 stars if possible. I wouldn’t even take a dying person here.Shannon CrowePoor experience all around My mother in law was on a floor with a flesh eating bacteria and my husband was forced to walk home today after being highly medicated. They refuse procedures and to be honest I wouldn’t sent MY PET there!sam nickelsWhy does getting lab work take soooooo long? Been waiting for almost an hour and still have not been called to the desk for check in.deseree geminai was up here at the hospital for my baby cousin because she has a fever. our doc told us SHE was gonna give her some ibuprofen and one of the nurses handed my aunt the syringe to give to her. i didn’t know we were the nurses here.Mary Ballou⭐️⭐️No kind of or poor communication skills between doctors, nurse’s, emergency room staff to each other, family members or family doctor.shane p⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy mom went in 9-6-2019. She said no better care can be found in the panhandle area with Nancy and Cheddy from the observatory unit taking care of you they are the bestCheyenne Arne⭐️⭐️I have been admitted to the hospital twice and sat in the ER for 6 hours each time waiting on a room. And it’s not like it’s quiet either they all like to be loud and carry conversations and stare. There’s not point in trying to get any sleep in here. Besides my RN nurse he was great! Very kind and makes jokes to make it easier he was my nurse both times. But he cannot make the hospital better. They are very expensive as well. There is too many people to be working to not be giving care or finding information out.My NameER front desk lady said it would be hours before being seen. I up and left. I recommend any other hospital if you require a timely visit.Blue Coke⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Been there a few times for my kids. Overall a positive experience but they need to have a talk with their nurses. They need to be careful with sharing their opinions. Twice I had nurses tell me to not to give my kids prescribed medication. That can be dangerous and cause children harm even death.L EG⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy brother was treated there recently and treated well by the nursing staff despite his bad attitude. I would give the facility only 3.5 stars, and the nursing staff four (the water is ghastly-i bought my brother his own for dinking, the hospital water for patients was yellow!). And I give five stars to Tammy in Radiology and Diagnostics. She truly went the extra mile!phillipbright⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDirector Mario was outstanding and his whole teamase bellI go and do bloodwork every six month. Many times the laboratory people is not there. Today I came in early to be first and they did not open up at 7:00 as it states. I went up and asked if the lab people are coming in , now 7:10 ? The ladies at check in made a phone call but seemed bothered . One lady asked if I had been rude loudly to the woman who made the call? They are not professional at all. The lab person came and opened up at 7:12. But it was not the first timeChristopher GormanI tried to give ZERO stars for this medical institution. To those who evaluate reviews, DO NOT go to this hospital. They are rated as one of the most expensive hospitals in the NATION, you can verify this with a simple search. I went in for a sciatic nerve issue, the doctor recommended an X-Ray which OF COURSE provided no clarity on the issue. Furthermore, when I asked for an itemized list of services rendered and there cost, they did not provide it. I asked PRIOR to them doing anything. Got nothing. This hospital also has the worst billing employees ever. They cannot comprehend nor do basic mathematics. When it comes to billing, 2+2 = 1000 to them. This hospital is greedy and corrupt. I will never go there again. I will make the drive to Pensacola or the Urgent Care next time. Also, to those in law enforcement, if you want to perform a sting operation, sit outside the ER. Plenty of crackheads to bust. The only one there that is worth a damn is the X-Ray tech. He was great. To end on this, if you have a sciatic nerve issue, go to Urgent Care. They gave me one steroid shot and some motrin, cost me $2600 with discounts. Garbage.Cierra LeducI’m back here and trying to get help and they aren’t doing there job even after 12 /16/16 my daughter was born I had bad experienceDaphne SkanesI have a couple of things to discuss about this hospital. The 1st thing is when I was pregnant they gave me a combination of meds to stop me from vomiting. I was so sick the ambulance had to come get me every muscle in my body was cramping. After the meds started working instead of them letting me stay in the bed until someone could get there to pick me up they said go to the waiting room and put 2 chairs together and lay down until your ride gets here. I was furious. 2nd my sister went to the ER and was told it wasn’t an emergency and they sent her home well she had to have a blood transfusion the next day. Luckily she was smart enough to know something wasn’t right and went to another hospital. 3rd when I went into labor I had to go to this hospital because that is where my doctor was. The 1st thing that happened they told me I used the bathroom on myself but I hadn’t, 2nd the nurse (not the delivery nurse Michael he is awesome) was supposed to be letting my Dr know I was ready but instead she was on the phone with her son until my sister let her know that she would beat her a** if my baby was not ok so she finally called the Dr, and 3rd my nephew cut his knee on glass from where the light bulb has busted and they wouldn’t give him a bandaid because they needed to charge someone for it freaking ridiculous so I said ok I need the d**n bandaid charge me he really needed it and that made absolutely no sense a freaking bandaid. 4th I took my daughter in who has PCOS she fell to the ground in pain so they were running all these test and she couldn’t give any urine after having 4 full bags of fluids. I finally went with her and turned the water on and she went very little but they couldn’t figure out what was wrong so the Dr gave her phenergan and demerol then sent her home. That night she started throwing up everywhere and come to find out she had infection from having so many cyst burst and some weren’t fluid filled. Go anywhere but to this hospital please.TrashI went in on three occasions—all within a three week time frame. My first visit, I went in due to a HORRENDOUS pain in my upper abdomen, so much so it impacted me walking upright and it was AGONIZING to move, breathe, or speak, and eventually led to my back; it woke me up out of my sleep. They did blood work, x-rays and a CT scan. I was diagnosed with a stomach virus. They prescribed me medication for stomach cramps and nausea; told me to come back in a week if symptoms get worse or persists. My symptoms did, in fact, get worse, as I started to experience extreme bloating, lightheadedness, and syncope, so I went back—later to be seen and told that it was never a stomach virus, it was constipation and that I was backed up. They, once again, prescribed me some medication and was told to come back again if symptoms got worse—well, they did. I started to have trouble breathing that would last all day. My ability to inhale became hindered. Went in to get that checked out and told the nurse what my last two visits consisted of and that I was hoping for an answer this go round. He felt my abdomen and told me to eat more fruits and vegetables as a source of fiber and had a lady discharge me a few minutes later because he said it “wasn’t a medical emergency”. My reasoning for going is because I recently moved down here and I’m not scheduled to see my PCP until late June. My symptoms were something I could handle up until they started getting worse. I will not be going back or referring to others. I’d rather die or take my chance with time by going to another ER. Guess I’ll never have an answer for the next few weeks. Very money hungry, careless, and lazy, in my opinion. Most, if not, all of the “good” reviews are fake. You’re better off going to Niceville or FWB.Stewart ChandlerMost expensive hospital on the planet… went to er for a herniated disk injury.. all I did when I got there was register, never seen a a dr just registered and sent back to the waiting room. .while in the waiting room ( in the front where everyone else is waiting ) I got a phone call with a family emergency out of state so I left. Keep in mind that I never once saw a dr. BUT! !!! I get a dammed bill in the mail today for 213.00 .. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FKN KIDDING ME! !!!Ronald Pointer⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I already shared my thoughts.Info KingIn my opinion, North Okaloosa Medical Center pretty much sucks! Their emergency room, with the exception of a few nurses that know what they’re doing, is staffed bye completely ignorant doctors that would rather do nothing then care for the patients! If you need emergency medical care drive to Twin Cities Hospital. I would like to add this comparison. My wife had a chest x-ray at White Wilson Medical Clinic in Fort Walton the cost of which was $76. A few days later I had a chest x-ray at North Okaloosa Medical Center. In contrast to my wife’s x-ray, mine cost $328. I guess you can do the math!Shawn ??????Would give a 0 of i could. Heres the break down here for chest pain Zero on pain control i asked for better pain control i am prescribed 7.5 325 times 2 a day norcos i get fives and my hip and back are on ice very little relief. Pain control zero Customer service zero I come here for pain control and they give me Tylenol better pain control at home. North okaloosa hospital are very over priced and if you have pain better go somewhere else Also billing my insurance 52000 dollers for 2 test and not even admit me is astronomical! North okaloosa will never see me again. Twin cities would have been at the leaat half thatPhil SmithSave yourself the time and hassle. V
