Sent us an incorrect bill and I sent an e-mail and called the number on the statement. They told me the bill must be from another department and to call the “number on the bill.” I explained that was the number I had called and they were the number on the bill. I explained it was showing a balance. I asked if this was an erroneous statement from the hospital or from another department. She refused to answer that question directly. I then took the time to scan and e-mail the bill to the e-mail address. I sent it in two separate e-mails and clarified multiple times I just wanted to confirm where the statement I was looking at came from. To me, the bill looked like from Northside Hospital but because of the earlier statements that that couldn’t be possibe, I just wanted confirmation. I explained multiple times I needed to know if there was someone else I should reach out to to clarify the bill. 10+ e-mails later and I still haven’t received that confirmation. This outrageous.EvelynToday is the third time I had the displeasure of dealing with Northside hospital Atlanta. The first time was about a month ago for an outpatient surgery. I have a port that is used for dispensing medication, IV lines and blood draws. After my surgery, the nurses forgot the IV line in my port and I had to return to the emergency dept. to have it removed.When I returned, a procedure that took less than 10 minutes ended up costing me more than 30 minutes, forcing me to pay $6 for parking. The final straw was today, when I went in with swelling and excruciating pain in my foot. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and if it wasn’t for the EMT that spoke up on my behalf to tell them I was in terrible pain, the staff was going to have me sitting in the waiting room for, I don’t know, how long and yet there were several rooms available!! I do not remember most of my time there because between the pain and the medication I was out of it, but I was finally awakened to be told that I was being discharged. At this point, my foot was still throbbing in pain, I could not bear any weight on it. I tried to explain to them that I did not think I was ready to be discharged, but they did not care. The most insensitive of them all was a nurse called sheila, who would not let me speak to the doctor and was only all too intent in taking me to the waiting room, where I was left in a wheelchair with no way to walk to my uber, when it finally arrived. The only reason I asked to be taken to this hospital is because my doctor is affiliated with them. I went in for stomach cramps that ended up being appendicitis. I was taken back after 90 minute wait around 9PM. Was asked kind of rudely if I was there for stomach cramps. Laid in a bed waiting for pain medication for over 30 minutes until wife went out and stared at nursing staff that was playing with instagram. I get CT scan and around 2:30 in morning am told that my appendix is needing to be removed. Then a crazy doctor comes in and tells me they have found a mass that was cancer and that we should pray that it wasn’t sarcoma. Without a biopsy or any info other than the CT scan I am told this before going into appendix surgery. Send extremely distraught wife home as I wasnt going to be able to have surgery until the morning. Literally kept up all night by constant disruptions before getting a room in the early morning. My wait was longer than the actual visit with the doctor and I don’t feel like she gave me a through examination just ensured I didn’t have a concussion by doing a reflex test and then sent a nurse to discharge me. I was on the phone with my mother making sure that I shouldn’t request any additional test before being discharged since this is my first car accident. ER Nurse Jenna (she would not give me her last name) walked in without knocking and said I’m here to give you your discharge papers , I asked her can she give me one second I’m trying to confirm with my mom that I don’t need to request anything else before I’m released and she rudely raised her voice at me and said “No I don’t have to wait on you you can take these papers or go out in the waiting room “ I told her I wasn’t leaving or signing anything before confirming that I was fine and she then yelled that she was going to call security . I have never in life been spoken to like that let alone at a hospital where they are supposed to care for you. I’ve already experienced a traumatic event today you would think a nurse would be compassionate but not Jenna. I called patient relations immediately and reported her because people like that don’t deserve to work with people.
