Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital Reviews
Before you go to Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Winfield emergency room think.
D ModderWaited nearly 3 hours before I decided to walk out because most of the people waiting before us were still waiting. As I approached the counter to leave I heard them going through a bunch of names of people that had walked out due to not being seen in a timely manner. I told the woman at the counter that she could add my name to that list to which she simply replied with an “ok, what’s your name?” That was it, no apology or anything, seemed like she was happy I was leaving. After reading other reviews and speaking to a few people about the emergency room at this hospital it appears this is the norm. Go anywhere else if you can unless you have your day clear with no place else to be.Jessica StallingdThe waiting area is completely empty.. with that being sad was being seen for shortness of breath. Three hour wait, but in that mean tome I did get to here the night job and what isn’t the day shift issues. I used to love this er not sure what is going on here but I sure learned a lot about staff issues between each other.Matthew AdamsI have been to this hospital before and loved my experience. What bothers me is their wait time for the ER today. My cousin had extreme pain in her Jaw and they made her wait 5+ hours in the waiting room with no pain medication. I kept on going to the service desk and they said the wait is based on how sick the patient is and other people have priority. I think it’s extremely disrespectful to make someone wait in agonizing pain because someone doesn’t think they are enough of a priority to get treated. How can this be an emergency room if people are left in pain for hours without any treatment? Honestly such a disappointing experience. It’s heartbreaking have to sit with family who is crying in pain and not have an agency to help them get better. Do better y’all.Brooke Kunkel⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy son broke his arm. We were seen fast! Great service, super friendly staff. Got taken care of quick and my son was put in a temp cast and feeling better in no time.DD DONIf I could give zero stars I would. First off communication was so poor. Told them my son was having a difficult time breathing and that his right tonsil was swollen. Apparently that was not considered an emergency. Receptionist Mario was very unhelpful with his robotic responses when I would check in to ask how much longer until a doctor would be available. We waited over 3.5 hours after vitals were taken. We left to go somewhere else. Horrible horrible emergency care!A AI have been coming to CDH for years with my family and this emergency room visit was by far the worst experience my family has ever had. I came in with my adult daughter who was vomitting for hours. The latter part of that was pure bile. The nursing staff did not seem to place much concern in dehydration, even though the day was in the high eighties or low nineties. We waited over an hour and a half. The nurses response about dehydration was that my daughter was fine and could dehydrate a lot more with no problem. That was a ridiculous response. People die from dehydration. I think the only reason my daughter was called in when she was is because I spoke to someone at the counter. I have always viewed CDH as a to notch hospital, this has gone a long way too impact my view negatively. There should be a complete review of systems. The Triage method seems to be lacking in preciseness. I am writing this review as I wait for my daughter to be seen and treated. The date is July 15, 2019. We first arrived at the hospital at around 6:30 PM. Art ADenise Schlitt⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI just want to thank the ER and 4B nurses and doctors that took such awesome care of me when I was there on December 10, 2018. I was there for 6 days and the nurses on 4B especially Sam, Emily, and PT Liz, and Rose gave excellent care of me. Thank you once again for the Excellent care I was given.Megan McNamaraIf you have an appendicitis don’t come here, they don’t care. They don’t care about anyone. Crude, disgusting, horrible staff! Makes me sick. Worst ER I have ever been to.Rabia ChoudhryDo not go to this ER. Ignorant door greeters and nurses act like they know what they are doing. They take advantage of people without medical backgrounds. They try to turn you away at the front desk with over exaggerated wait times. Long wait times and rude people.sylvia w. cowsertWe were pleased with the care given my husband in the ER on July 24. He was admitted by ambulance with chest pains. HOWEVER, I told the nurse he had dementia and also was a fall risk. She placed a fall risk band on him. When I went to get the car, she used a wheelchair to take him to the door. Imagine my horror when I pulled up and he had been left unattended and was trying to walk to the car. He uses a walker at all times. I am grateful that he didn’t fall or wander off. This was unacceptable care!!!!!!Tom SpencerHi Northwestern. This a representative of the people you’ve hurt deeply. Don’t listen to their responses. If you call their number and push for any real changes they will literally begin a demorilization campaign on you with staff nurses Drs the police. This emergency room almost killed my wife. Dr colander is lustful controlling man. Not a Dr. Their are no other words to describe him. And he does it with a smile. Be careful go anywhere else. Read the reviews…Santiago Ramos⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I’ve just moved to Illinois recently so it was my first experience here, meanwhile my wife was familiar with the hospital. She was being seen here for her first 3 months of high risk pregnancy and had such a great experience that once our baby was extremely sick we took her to their emergency room. The only reason why I can not give them 5 stars was because the day we went it was a snowy cold day and my wife left us in the main entrance thinking there was a hallway that connects to the emergency room. When she walked into the emergency room looking for us she didn’t see us because from the main entrance there was no hallway to take us over there. When she asked the security guard he specifically said there was none that my daughter and i had to walk outside in the cold (mind you my daughter was sick enough) to go through the right entrance. Now that sounds reasonable if it was true. I asked the lady at the front desk from the main entrance the same question and although she agreed that normally patients alone had to go around the building unless we had an escort that let us go through it. She took it upon herself to call an escort because she specifically said that she didn’t want my daughter out in the cold. The security knew my daughter’s condition and didn’t even try to help. After meeting with her everyone else and the experience there was amazing for the kids emergency section. The nurse was very interactive with my daughter. The doctor took her time in explaining us what was going on exactly with my daughter’s condition. She even went ahead and drew it out for us to understand in deeper content. We actually were having trouble at the time with my daughter’s pediatrician because our records were taking long for him to receive so he didn’t want to see her. The doctor specifically helped us out with that too and technically that was above what she’s supposed to do. I appreciated her taking concern and going literally above and beyond for my daughter’s health and thanks to her my daughter’s pediatrician saw her. I would not recommend any other hospital, atleast for kids care since that has been my only experience there, they’re truly amazing.Francisco MalafaiaHorrible service!!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!! I need to have a CAT scan in the emergency room and the guy was SUPER RUDE over the phone and hang up on me. So I went to Northwestern in downtown Chicago! Much better, even thought the waiting time was super long! But the treatment and respect to their patients were superb in Chicago. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT BOTHER THEM!Adam GarciaWaited 6 hours to eventually find out I had Pneumonia. 5 of the 6 hours were spent alone in the room as nurses never come by to check up on water, etc (even though you hear them laughing outside the room all day). By the time I left the medication they gave me had worn off and my body was sleep deprived. I had to repeat the medication that I was on to every person that came in the room because nobody was writing things down! If you have a serious issue do not go here. The time alone will make things worse.ChristineWait times are always outrageous…. two hours and counting I been in the waiting roomDan JeffriesWe walked to the ER counter at 10:45 pm on 9-16-2018. We didn’t get a room until 2:24 AM. How can 3 hours & 40 minutes be acceptable in any hospital’s ER? The only thing worse than our terrible experience are the countless other patients with similar, terrible experiences.Cathy WhiteOn August 31 I got my husband to the emergency room at cdh at 10:15am. I got a wheel chair he was hunched over in bad abdominal pain, hard to breathe, was sweating, and his fingers were a white color. I wheeled him to the desk where the receptionist Lisa as talking to a elderly woman who was standing there. I said to her my husband was really In a lot of pain. She held up a finger and continued chatting to the woman and then finally put her wrist band on and continued chatting. I told her she was the worst nUrse I had ever encountered here and that she had no compassion for someone in extreme pain. She finally looked up and SMIRKED at me and went about slowly typing in my husband’s info. Finally another nurse came and whisked him back to er. Lisa Had to be a nursing supervisor of the ER. Had no compassion whatsoever!B Kaley⭐️⭐️The care was adequate for a cut finger. The wait was 3 hours. The vending machines had no prices and wouldn’t take cash or credit cards.. But the ER bill of over $2300 with no itemization before insurance just for the use of the facility is obcene. They also didn’t bother to forward my insurance information to other providers like the NW ER doctors charge of $950 for 3 stitches and $30 for X-rays. Heaven help those with no insurance. I learned my lesson . Next time I will go to an emergency care clinic.Natasha GlanvilleThis Hospital is horrible if you walk in to the emergency room you will be in dying pain and they will make you wait hours before they see you……… So if your honestly in pain go somewhere else cause they dont care and the people at the desk are very rude they’re more concerned with their lunch then your health.Deborah TurnerCame in ambulance for possible re-break of back from a car accident and they moved me to a wheelchair and parked me in the lobby for 2 1/2 hours. I had to have husband bring me pain meds to waiting area. Total fail.
