Eric Trosch⭐️⭐️The staff were nice enough. The main problem is the wait time estimator. We drive out if our way for the supposed shorter wait time. I understand that triage needs to happen but we have been here for 2.5 hours every chair is now filled and somehow the wait time dropped from 30 minutes to 17. I asked the front desk and she said oh you can’t rely on that. We arrived at 8:30 with our son, who was sent by his pediatrician. From the first interaction, the staff was extremely kind and helpful. Even though the ER was full, he was seen in triage in around 30 minutes, then we were put in a private lounge where he received ivs, etc., before seeing the doctor. The RN, Seth A. Ward was amazing— he is extremely knowledgeable and professional, but he also joked around with our 15 year old, who had not smiled in days. He kept us up to date with the tests, etc., and we could not have asked for better care. Dr. Jennifer Bowman was also very helpful as she examined him and sent him for more tests. She took the t8me to explain everything to us and did not rush us through questions, etc. This was our first visit to the ER, and we could not have asked for better care. You hear horror stories about hospital emergency rooms and we were scared when told to urgently take our son, but I will recommend Presbyterian Novant to everyone. I received incredible care from the ER to radiology and to the unit I was on. Very caring and compassionate doctors murses and staff. Returned 2 weeks later with renal failure and again I received outstanding care from every department. I highly recommend this facility. Pros: – the lactation consultants were amazing. My wife saw several during her few days there and they were all spectacular. Cons: Everything else. Keep in mind we had several different nurses over a few days so comments on the nurses aren’t based on one person. – No nursery for newborns, which would’ve been fine, but at some point I asked if they had a nursery that could take my baby for a while so we could rest and the nurse I asked was very snarky and acted like I was trying to get rid of my baby or something. – When the nurses would empty my wife’s urine bag or the blood container thing in our bathroom they would literally leave urine and blood splashed all over the bathroom to the point that it nearly looked intentional. – We would have to call a minimum of 3 times before a nurse would come to the room. Once I took my baby out to the nurses station with me to ask about it and two nurses rushed up to me and were practically yelling at me that I couldn’t have my baby out of the room if she wasn’t in the bassinet. I was like “I mean, that’s fine, but I had to come out here because no one would come to the room” and they were literally ignoring me saying that and semi-trying to grab my baby from me. – Two nurses took turns trying to stick my wife several times and basically destroyed her arm despite us begging them to get another nurse to try. The anesthesiologist came in while they were sticking her, took one look at her arm, and was like “why does her arm look like this? Why didn’t you get someone else?” And when they tried to respond he said “Nope. You all will not go near her with another needle. I’ve been a long time patient at the OB office at Novant and always planned to deliver babies here. Delivered my first baby on 9/30. He is currently in the NICU in amazing hands. I was discharged on 10/2, but they allowed my husband and I to stay as guests so we could be down the hall from our son. Since we were admitted, we both have been treated with such kindness and respect. All of my nurses and doctors have been amazing. Dr. Boster delivered my baby and I couldn’t have asked for a better doctor! The NICU staff are angels. They help us and explain to us in detail about our sons well being and things he still needs in order to go home. Im also using their app “ my chart “& it automatically updated when I was admitted. And it also has our sons admission info on there! They send me results of all of his tests, times for meds, etc. it’s amazing! I could keep going with a list of great things! I recommend the women’s center here!! My obgyn office was locayef inside the hospital,Bradford Clinic obgyn. Had my surgeries and baby was delivered great,but as soon as my surgeries were done I had excruciating abdominal and back pain and it has not gone away since and it’s been almost 4 years. The nurse I had was switching me off between 2 different pain medications because I was so uncomfortable I couldn’t even rest! Made an appointment with the same doctors office and saw Reynolds and he did absolutely nothing. I’ve went back to the emergency department and they do nothing as well. I need a MRI of my abdomen and if that doesn’t work I need a camera out down there because something happened to me during those surgeries! Therefore I went to the hospital to file a grievance for being put in a locked mental facility x 10 days in July through August of 2018. I met with a person named Salina or Celina. I was told this could not be dealt with from the hospital administration at the hospital and that somebody from another town would contact me. No contact so I returned twice to speak with other people. I was told to call a number in Winston-Salem but these people have not returned my repeated phone calls. It is now mid-July so I just put in another call to Salina. I also went to the Medical Records in the basement at the same time as I filed my initial grievance. Had my baby girl here in October 2018 as well as three other children starting from 2009. Did not want to try or change the hospital ever since. Very attentive and caring staff!!! Volunteer lady came in before discharge and made sure I had all supplies for me and the baby for the first few days!!!They took great care if me and our baby. There are so many things that went wrong that I can only list the events. – I was told by my OB to call and come to the hospital if my water broke OR my contractions were less than 10 minutes apart. I called the number I was provided with last Monday night with contractions approximately 5 minutes apart, as I was told that it was necessary to call first in order to ensure that a doctor was there at the time of your arrival. My contractions were only FIVE MINUTES apart, and we’re about 3 minutes apart by the time I arrived at the hospital. My husband and I were put into a small triage room to wait and “walk around” for TWO WHOLE HOURS. – When we were finally transferred to a real room, the triage nurse gave me a botched IV hook up, then they assigned me these two new nurses that had no idea what they were doing and took FOREVER to come and hook me up to a monitor. Thank God my mother, who just so happens to be a doctor was there, otherwise I don’t even know what would’ve happened to myself or my son. – I requested an epidural because I was tired of squirming in pain as I had been for almost 4 hours of being forgotten. The epidural dose I was originally given did not work. I was still feeling every contraction in all of their intensity, and I notified my nurses of this. The nurses kept telling me that I wasn’t feeling pain, but just pressure. My mom had to persistently insist for them to call the doctor, which they didn’t do until my husband began to step in. They finally called the doctor (anesthesiologist) , and the doctor told them to press the booster every ten minutes three times. He said that if I still was feeling pain, that my dose was to be increased. The nurses completely ignored the doctor’s orders and kept denying that I was feeling pain. This went on for 3 more hours until I was 30 minutes away from delivery when my mother and husband quite literally had to demand the doctor come and give me the higher dose, after which my pain level decreased from screaming 10 to a cold, hard 0. – After the faulty epidural, the nurses told me that we needed to do “practice pushes”. I was told to push as hard as I could without stopping at the beginning of each contraction 3 times in spite of the fact that my baby was already crowning. I pushed for one of the three rounds, and his head began to emerge. They left me there with my sons head PRESSING between my pelvis for 20 minutes until the doctor came due to their error of having me push when I was already too advanced. My son was born with a pointed head and two folded ears due to this mistake, something we have to now look to spending HUNDREDS to correct all because two nurses didn’t want to swallow their pride and call the doctor when they noticed I was advanced to the point of being ready to deliver. – After delivery, these two lovely nurses noticed that I was bleeding more than I was supposed to. Instead of notifying me or my husband of this, they called in two other nurses (one being the head nurse) to examine me by pressing on my uterus. This examination is done to see how much blood is released with each push, and is ONLY supposed to be done every 15 minutes minimum. Four nurses took turns pressing on my uterus repeatedly for about 10 or so minutes instead. They never notified the doctor that I was bleeding more than I should have been, and AGAIN my mother had to intervene as they pushed and pushed on my uterus to tell them to STOP and call the doctor because my life was at risk. There are other minor things that happened like the lady who was to give my son his first bath accidentally (I’m hoping) wetting his umbilical cord, my nurse for the second day sneezing directly onto my baby twice in a row without covering or redirecting her mouth, my son’s circumcision being forgotten until the day we were to be discharged when they quickly rushed him away at 5am sharp, but I think you see the point. I feel like I deserve compensation.Tom Billingsly You will happy to know that after my review of their hospital below they did an investigation. They determined that no pain management for the three visits until five hours of wait time was ok. Sending me home with no pain management was ok. That despite after the second visit there ER doctor not finding the problem that my doctor took a few minutes to identify was ok. That after my doctor told them for my third visit that my gallbladder had to be removed and them verifying there mistake, using there past labs, it was ok they then put me back in waiting room for five hours with no pain management, before admitting me for surgery. It was also ok that after three days my gallbladder had died before the surgery and I had to spend two extra days in the hospital with a drain tube. Just in case you thought, things might improve. By the way I’m sure you wouldn’t see my wait time as five hours it is basically their triage time and has nothing to do with them actually identifying your problem or starting treatment. First this review is for the ER only. Outside of the ER my experience was 5 stars. Concentration camp is what comes to mine when I think of my experiences, that’s 3 days in a row, at the ER. I went in because I had pain of the charts and was in agony. They saw me within an hour to take me for scans and then sent me out to waiting room for five hours with a pain level of 10 and given no pain meds. When I asked it was like I was upsetting the cart to think I would ask for something for pain before they had put me in a room. So no they have no clue what triage is, establishing severity of injury and pain level. When they finally saw me had to give me Dilaudid to stop pain. I had told them I had recently been diagnosed with gallstones and figured that was it. They told me I was constipated, gave me codeine which I already told them didn’t work hence the dilaudid. Told me to go home and take stole softener. Second night exact same experience including concentration five hour wait in waiting room rolling in pain. No pain meds this time just go home and take stole softener. Ask if they could do a procedure to relive problem and they said that was only done in operating room and I said Ok lets do that because I will just have to live in pain and come back tomorrow they said no. Went and saw my doctor and he was in shock. He said it is obviously your gall bladder and that is right here in the labs they took. Couldn’t believe if they didn’t fix problem they had at least put me in hospital for pain management. He called them to tell them problem they were missing. I went they saw they had been wrong and take a guess at it? They sent me to the waiting room for 3 to 4 hours of rolling in pain until they called me to the back to get pain meds and be admitted for gallbladder removal. That got me out of the ER and the best care I have ever received. She was unresponsive due to dehydration. A male nurse by the name, Seth W., came into the room. The first thing he says upon entering the room is, “oh I forgot to do this…” My friend and I exchanged looks like… ‘this isn’t good..’ Seth W. and the nurse helping him Jennifer F., then start a conversation over the patient that includes laughter… At this point, I say something to the effect that you should be paying attention to your patient instead of your conversation and laughing… A few minutes later, security guards arrived in the room. The nurse, Seth W., said I cursed him out. This was totally untrue, but of course the security guards didn’t believe me so I was asked to leave. I’m at home now hoping my friend is receiving good medical attention, but I cannot say that I am very confident. I give this hospital a 1.0⭐ rating. Just received a text message from my friend that said, the nurse, Jennifer F., while checking the IV in the patient’s arm, through the blanket over the patient’s face in a nonchalant manner.Kammy Hornsby I posted a review before, but this matter is so ridiculous that I’ve logged into another account for the sake of posting a second review. My original review said not to have your babies at this location, but I’d like to edit that to DON’T GO TO THIS HOSPITAL FOR ANYTHING! There’s a reason why the majority of reviews give them a one star rating. The people who are tasked with reviewing poor reviews on this website simply reach out to you for the sake of minimizing their possible losses and managing “risks”. Displeased patients are “risks”, so don’t even begin to think that this establishment gives half a darn about you or your family (especially newborns) when they call pretending like they do. All they want is a chance to put their story straight. After my initial review, someone almost immediately searched the database for my number and called me to say that they would like to help me by starting a review of my visit. A few weeks later, I received the absolute most passive aggressive letter I’ve ever read from what’s supposed to be a professional establishment full of LIES. I had 2 witnesses with me over the course of my entire stay in this hospital, and 3 for a great deal of the stay. I read the letter to each of the three people separately, and all of them said that it was a compilation of lies. The letter tried to say that my pain was reviewed and managed during labor, meanwhile, my pain was ignored for HOURS after receiving an epidural that wasn’t working. The anesthesiologist ordered the nurses to boost me 3 times and call him to increase the dose if I was still feeling pain, and the nurses refused to follow this order for HOURS. I was in excruciating pain up until approximately 30 minutes before my son was born when the anesthesiologist himself had to come to the room and increase my dose. The letter goes as far as to basically say this never happened when even people over phone calls were able to hear proof of it happening. The letter passive aggressively addresses my original statement concerning practice pushing by explaining what it’s for as if I didn’t know that before. The whole reason for including that in my original review was because the nurses let me practice until I was beyond crowning and left me there with my sons head pushing out for around 20 minutes which resulted in extremely misshapen ears and head that I now have the responsibility of correcting with expensive helmets and ear casts. This matter was essentially ignored in review letter. The letter also claimed that my bleeding was minimal, when I have proof that the nurses both (a new nurse was working on me under the supervision of a more experienced nurse) told me that I was bleeding more than what’s typically normal. Yes, I know pressing is a mandatory protocol. However, four nurses doing it back to back for 15-20 minutes straight without as much as a few seconds between presses isn’t. This matter was lied about in letter. I don’t care what the nurses recorded after my mom and husband confronted them asking them why they wouldn’t call the doctor being that I was bleeding more than I should (according to my two nurses) to cover themselves. The letter blatantly ignored the nurse sneezing on my naked, day-old baby who eventually developed a raging cold after returning from the hospital, botched IV that hurt through entire stay, rude phone operators for lunch and otherwise, almost forgotten circumcision, the basin covered in my blood they left in the bathroom splashed up on the walls and floors, etc. I called to discuss the letter w/ “risk management”, and was told that the woman that handled my case/wrote letter was “no longer with the company”, so take that as you will.
