Before you go to O’Connor Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this San Jose emergency room think.
Jaqueline Gonzalez⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis review is solely based on my labor and delivery experience here as that’s the only reason I’ve visited. Considering the options with medical aren’t very many in San Jose, O’Connor was my best option and honestly I couldn’t have gone another better route, My sister delivered her baby here two weeks prior and also had an excellent experience. Let me start by saying that the experience starts with the people who work there & it was exceptional. They showed empathy when I was feeling pain and did not hesitate to make me feel like I came first from beginning to end of my delivery. Tammie was the nurse who assisted my through the delivery and she was an angel sent from heaven. So kind and warm, thoughtful and made me feel so comfortable. Side note: heads up on the epidural process, if you’re getting it, have the anesthesiologist ensure they look you over in the days to come if spinal fluid has leaked because mine caused severe headaches which caused me to visit the ER weeks later. Simple fix if brought up timely. The stay was amazing throughout my two days there. Food options were great for both me and my husband. He stayed comfortably in his sofa bed and formula was provided to make me feel more at ease when my baby was crying at night. Overall this hospital is a great stay.iris garciaMy husband was admitted into the hospital for 5 days. Everyday he was seen by a Resident Doctor, so everyday his diagnosis was different since this “doctors” are in training. Each came with a different diagnosis and different plan for treatment. I definitely lost my trust in this hospital Samuel Alvarado⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe nurse’s, staff and doctors have taken great care of me in the most excellent and outstanding way. Very friendly. Extremely knowledgeable and always kept great communication with me. Right as i walked in the door i was seen immediately. Thank you staff and teams at O’Connors hospital. Keep up the fantastic work that you provideToensing Jeanette⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI felt sad that the chairs in my room were so woreout. My guest kept moving for they were very uncomfortable. Please look into your chairs. My head was at the foot of my bed due to the T.V.’s, location. This was much better for me. The staff was wonderful. My brother and son were born in this wonderful hospital. O’Connor will always be my hosptal.Aaron CarrFelt like I was having heart issues so was seen by this hospital. Was seen in about about an hour but a 3,000 dollar bill later, I realized I should never have gone to this ER in the first place.Anmol Anand⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was seen by the nicest staff and diagnosed within hours. The emergency room was very organized.Ankush AgarwalTerrible ER wait times. Walked into an almost empty ER and still had to wait over 3 hours to be seenMimis CogcoI just came from the emergency room just asking a question for direction a man in a brown scrubs talks to you like if your below educated and very rude. God bless his soul.John Brimmer⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy name is Marta Chaskelmann posting this review under John Brimmer because I was at O’Connor today and I was treated with outstanding care. From the staff in the front to the nurses in the back, wow, they were so professional, knowledgeable and courteous. The staff at O’Connor are truly excellent, to me and my mom. I was treated with compassion and knowledge. Thank you.Sussy GonzalezI am very disappointed with the after surgery care. The night the staff would come in every two hours to check my vitals ask if I needed anything….come morning and everything went downhill. I would put a page for a nurse and get someone 25 minutes later. I had to ask for them to check my vitals. I’ve been here for over a day with just the jello that was offered from the nurses in the PM. Nurse Elaisa has the worst attitude I’ve come across,. So sad that they forget they are here to HELP HUMANS.J MacgregorAvoid Dr. Ayman Al Harakeh and this hospital!Matthew SalazarThis is the worst Hospital ever bad doctors don’t care about patients is pain level or nothing all they care about is just working there and doing nothing for the patient’s pain at all this is the worst Hospital they’re going way too far on the medications special medications for patients that they need they should stop going so farPatricia Perez⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was there last nite good job everyone even tho it was busy they got stuff done special thank to mark born 1962 and bald on purpose not sure but thank for being awesome and taking care of me buddyDora PachecoHi I was scheduled for a renal test, first they said delivery of the meds were stuck in traffic, so I would have to come back, one hour in a half then the lady called me said my insurance doesn’t cover this test and if I want them to bill me, i said ok, she calls back that her director said i would need to pay $1000 down payment, iam retired, she said she will see what can be done, well she called back, that her director would need me to pay all $6000 today in order to get the test done. Omg. I have a stone stuck in my kidney and a nephrostomy tube in me and needed to have this test so my urologist can see the function to decide the next step. I don’t know what is going to happen now. Concerned..Swadhin Gandhi⭐️⭐️Took daughter to ER as she was running fever and had a bout of diarrhea. Just got hit with a bill of $ 2558. Service was fine but charges are absurd. Come on guys its my half month salary that you guys are asking me to pay for 1 hour in the ER where doctor visited her for 5 minutes and we were in the room for 40-45 mins. I would understand if it was for some minor procedure or for couple of days hospitalization. Its UNACCEPTABLE.K-Ly Jung⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI came down trip to San Jose from Santa Rosa, CA but I got sick and I walked in to Emergency room I feel very comfortable here while I getting treatment. Doctors and Nurses are so working hard for patients. I highly recommends if you sick or need to go emergency room. I had shortened breaths I couldn’t breath well felt like die but I got O’Connor hospital Emergency room And they treat me fast and then I felt better in 15 minutes. Thank you so much to O’Connor hospital staffs and Doctors and Nurses. I stayed at hospital for 6 days. They save my life.california girl happy⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAs good as it gets! wow I was treated so well!Nancy MejiaI brought my dad to the E.R and check in got here around 6:30 small amout of people where here. Still waiting everyone before and after us are gone already still waiting its 10:17 pm and we are still waiting the room is alwayst empty from the second round it got busy an atill waiting what the heck never ever ever have i waited this long to be seencarolietashukry⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThank you, thank you O’connor Hospital for always giving the best service and medical help, the only hospital we go for emergency help and also I give birth to my preemie son here stay in NICU for 5 days. Will make sure to write review for labor and delivery as well as NICU. The staff, Doctors and nurses always give us the best service this hospital been so kind to us really touch my heart.Woody Eddy⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I was there in 80s the care was great up on floors. Been through ER and most ER takes a long time to be seen. That’s normal they may have trauma .Test take time if there’s multiple departments. It sad but as of today its the same. Really don’t want the med team to rush. You need best care you can get. Been to valley med as well. It depends on level injuries takes time. Plus each case needs to be documented in between cases.Greg G. MarkWARNING! O’Connor Hospital filed for Bankruptcy in August 2018. Not surprising since the leadership is terrible. If you are needing to go to a hospital I would suggest Good Samaritan Hospital or Regional instead of O’Connor Hospital. The leadership is laughable, specifically the Interim C E O Patrica Ryan and Verity Health System C E O Rich Adcock. Patrica micromanages and does not have any clue how to run a hospital effectively. No wonder she got walked out and fired from her last position at another hospital based on her incompetence. Until she is walked out, then O’Connor will be an embarrassment under her command. I live in San Jose and it’s a disgrace that Verity Health System executives allowed her to take over as Interim C E O. So potential future patients, I highly suggest choosing another hospital in the area because this hospital is a bunch of horse dung- and that is stating it lightly. To future employers looking to hire Ryan or Adcock, please look elsewhere as they are both an embarrassment to the healthcare community here in San Jose. Director of Service Excellence – do your job.Monica CardozaNever delivering here again ! Nurse ‘Nairwan’ took so long to discharge me , made me walk to my car ‘ NO WHEEL CHAIR ‘ didnt make sure my Daughter Was RIGHT on the Car seat or anything really upset about this experiment she also was unattentive as my nurse!!Thomas CZero stars for outpatient diagnostic imaging. I was sent here for a PET scan, O’Connor staff scheduled and said it was covered by insurance. What they didn’t tell me, and obviously should have, was that there was a $1200 co-pay for the scan! How can they expect someone to be prepared for that if they don’t tell you in advance?! I called my insurance and they told me that O’Connor hospital has a flat rate for PET scans due to their contact with Blue Shield and they certainly knew ahead of time what the charge was (in excess of $12,000) and what my co-payment was going to be. So why didn’t anyone tell me? I had options of a less expensive facility, but O’Connor didn’t bother to tell me ahead of time. I also needed further testing and called O’Connor to ask what the charges for the additional tests would be and they transferred me 3 times and still couldn’t tell me so I cancelled the tests because I had no idea how many tens of thousands of dollars more this would be. Completely unacceptable, avoid O’Connor Hospital. Very poorly managed. O’Connor was paid $11000 by my insurance for this PET scan. I received a very insulting email from O’Connor today offering a 25% discount on my $1200 copayment to “resolve” this for their own mistake! So, they collected $11,000 from my insurance, made a mistake and instead of owning up to it they offered me 25% off. Talk about trying to squeeze every last nickel out of a person. Ridiculous. Avoid this facility. They have an extreme lack of organization and no good processes in place to prevent this from happening to patients. I would not trust this facility with patient care.Tina Hudgins⭐️⭐️⭐️Waited about 1 1/2 hours in ER suite waiting for the Dr or nurse to tell us what’s going on, what are we waiting for, and even to just get a cup of ice. Went out to ask at the desk, and Ms.Rude says ‘I don’t know. I’m a receptionist’. Didn’t even lift a finger to call our nurse, let alone SMILE. Ugh. Two receptionists out front where you check in made a snarky comment to me about my family member being scared and crying when brought in. If you can’t sympathize with people, you shouldn’t be in health care. If you feel annoyed with people acting HUMAN, don’t work with the public. Now, as for care received upstairs in the room, excellent! Had 2 nurses over course of the stay, and they were both caring, considerate and competent. Even when family member had anxiety attack, they kept their cool, comforted and were empathetic. Pleased with Dr and ultrasound tech, as well.Emily AllanderThis is the worst ER, ever! Came in with endometriosis and PCOS pain. Said it was a level 8-9 and I was nearly in tears. After waiting 45 minutes, I left. I’d rather be home in pain than in an uncomfortable waiting room listening to people puke. Also, it’s just plain creepy. I will never, ever go back even if I’m dying. Avoid this place. Go to Good Sam or pretty much anywhere else.Steven Bui⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Service: The receptionist was a nice guy. He was helpful. The nurse that assisted my girlfriend was also polite and nice. The process however seem really slow. Restroom: There is 2 restroom that are unisex. It wasn’t the cleanest restroom, but it was decent. The restroom light could be a little bit brighter. Amenities: There are free local phones to use. They even have a payphone. There is a soda vending machine and a snack machine. Most snacks are about $1. There is free hand sanitizer, free mask and free tissue paper. Ambience: The hospital seems outdated. You have furnitures that look like they came from the 90s-2000s. There are 3 television screens. You can’t even hear the sounds. There is a children section, which has the volume up.ChiefN TacoThe staff at the ER are slowRon .SwansonO’connor emergency department was the worst experience of my life. I was humiliated, disrespected and neglected. Worst of all I was billed for services that I did not receive.Rachel Hagan⭐️⭐️I suffer from debilitating migraines 1-2 times a month. I was going to the evil ValleyMed (shudder!) then went to O’Connor a handleful of times before I discovered Good Samaritan. At O’Connor the ER wait times are horribly long, they take their time, don’t seem to care about the urgency of anyone’s issues, and in general they just don’t seem to care when and if you get help. Almost Every single person at the check-in desk is mean and grumpy with a ‘hurry it up’ attitude that is not appreciated, especially for someone with a migraine. *****And what’s the point of having an online check-in system if when you show up you have to fill out another long form, all while having a severe migraine?!?!?***** The wait time is a huge problem but I wish the staff would tone it down for people that are in pain, especially people with migraines. I really don’t want to hear their laughter and loud talking about their day while I’m writhing in pain, it is just uncool. The time between when I finally get a room and get seen is abnormally long, first it’s a nurse (making sure I’m sick which the front desk already covered!) then 20-30 minutes later I have another nurse come in and talk to me, then a half an hour later I’ll get my medicine (which is non-narcotic it’s a Toradol shot to stop the migraine which at even at Valley med I got that shot faster then I get it O’Connor!) They just do not seem to care about the condition of the patients that come in, it’s really sad and made me stop going there. They rarely if ever check in on me to see how I am, my friend flags them down. When I’m done and they say someone will check me out, it will be kind of nice to have that done within an half-hour to an hour. For some unknown reason I’m waiting to be discharged for maybe 2 hours. Poorly run…Spalding IndigoTL;DR TOO EXPENSIVE- GO TO URGENT CARE INSTEAD SOMEWHERE ELSE – Took my SO to this ER room in January of this year, 2018. They did the usual vitals tests, and administered some antibiotics via injection and took a scan or two, on a examining bed. Here we are in October of 2018 and we’re still receiving the bills for this, and not cheap ones either. At least $2700 for this and he has an excellent health insurer as well. Take this advice, GO ANYWHERE ELSE IF YOU CAN HELP IT- go to an urgent care facility, avoid going to the ER. It is unbelievable how much this cost, but mostly how slow it took them to tabulate it all and then send us the bill. You’d think, ok, copay and such all that’s taken care of, we’d have gotten the bill by now- if it were say Feb. or March even, but OCTOBER??? IT TOOK 9 MONTHS TO FIGURE OUT HOW MUCH THEY WANT FROM US. Staff was nice and friendly, but when it comes to the fees and the handling of it all, this is just unacceptable. We’ll be talking with our insurance agency on this.Lupe Miramontez⭐️⭐️⭐️Great doctor’s however the wait for discharge paperwork was 1 hour and 30min. Horrible!!!Jonathon RedmondDon’t ever come here. Charged me 5,000 for an ekg test was in and out within an hour. How can you justify 5000 dollars. They said because of the severity of the issue…. even though all the nurses said that it was a side effect of my asthma pump. Medical care is highway robbery.Jason Ross⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGoodLYDIA ASTILL⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Great Emergency Room treatment experience – late at night. Friendly and fast.alex carter⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWould give them 6 stars if I could. I got a sudden headache like wham! after lifting something heavy. Was better the next day, then the day after that I’m sitting reading a book, very calm and quiet, and the headache suddenly got worse. From what I remember from EMT school, this is bad. Brain bleeds can just sit there and bleed for a few days then it’s “go to bed, wake up dead”. I knew this place was on the #23 bus line, so I walked the two miles to the light rail, got off to get a #23 bus and had just missed it, the next one in an hour. No problem, got a cab to O’conner’s ED. I was checked in, was told not to worry about my not having insurance, waited a bit, I dunno, 15 minutes maybe, got a basic check-over by a sort of triage doc who has a little office in the waiting room, then was checked into a regular room, put on a gown etc. There was a TV show on about animals so it’s all cool. My BP was found to be sky-high. I’d been trying to treat my alcoholism by only drinking during the hour before I went to bed, but it was not a small amount. Thus, I was in alcohol withdrawal, which among other things sends one’s blood pressure through the roof, for about 8 hours out of every 24-hour period. I was trying to apply the idea of “intermittent fasting” that some dieters use, to alcohol. In all fairness, I was slowly tapering down, but after seeing my BP numbers, I’m like, “screw this, I need to get off of alcohol right away”. Solution: A prescription for Librium, about $5 from a pharmacy the next day. As for the headache, a ride in the CT scanner showed I hadn’t broken anything. Very friendly and helpful doctors, nurses, CT tech, etc. I’ve stayed in some pretty nice hotels and this place actually kind of had that feeling. If I were religious I’d say God bless this place. And if you think you have a problem, come here because if you treat things early, you will cost yourself and Society less if you catch things early.gary wilderOver priced careNathan CongletonI waited over 4 hours in the waiting room. Vomiting and more. When getting blood drawn I became nauseous and as I was throwing up the nurse was literally telling me to hurry up and go back out in the waiting room. I couldn’t sit down, so I layed on that floor for 4 hours until finally I just left. Was never called back. Pathetic excuse for an ER, the MOST rude and unfriendly staff I’ve ever come across. Absolutely horrible.don pWorst patient care at an ER.Was there at night &it was not busy unlike most ERs.Every 1 else was smart enough to go elsewhere. The intake nurse was so RUDE(as was the bitter nurse at the front),as if his job was a burden,he did not give clear instructions, showed no compassion,no energy &argumentative. The staff md was robotic & unengaging.I was not comfortable there & very alarmed by the incompetence & carelessness of the staff.Navil Heggere⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedExcellent ER. They take good care and keep the tone friendly.Sharmin IslamI had a miscarriage on 8th March. I went there around 5:00 pm. and they took me to the room around 10:00 pm. I was cramping and crying from the pain and they didn’t give me any treatment or priority at all. And now more than 2 months and I am still getting separates bill without any details.Gerald Witters⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I received top notch care there this past week as well as a few years ago when I really needed it. Thanks ER and 5th floor staff.SCThe cost is staggering even if your insurance is good enough.Nikki KWent there for extreme abdominal pain. Staff was very rude and as waited for over an hour before we ended up just leaving and going to another emergency room. They really don’t care about their patients at all.Victoria JimenezWorst emergency room ever it’s been hours an not a single name has been called. Not even having the nurse come out to check on anyone out here.Stacy DYou mean O’Conner prison and home of the incompetent idiots.Jose MiramontesApparently coughing up blood isnt an emergency hereUtkarsh KumarI had severe headache and acidity. So i visited the emergency care and I had to wait for more than 1 hour in the night to get my self checked by a doctor. I don’t understand the point of emergency care unit in this hospital………. Now i got a bill of around $2500Rose Aguilar⭐️⭐️⭐️Not to friendly nurses, can’t have more then 2 people in room. Delivery room no one under 16yrs.Lucila Gonzalez⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER Recommended(Translated by Google) Great service. (Original) Buen servicio.
