Palomar Medical Center Poway Reviews

Before you go to Palomar Medical Center Poway, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Poway emergency room think.

PK Khetarpal Without a doubt the worse hospital cafeteria and the least friendly cafeteria staff I have ever encountered. It’s 1pm and we asked if they will have any pizza. The lady(white dreadlocks) said “I am not making anymore pizza”. They had some red pasta and boiled broccoli…..that’s it !!Yvette Bryant⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Good Clean & Nicely Manicured!! Peaceful Little Sitting Area On The Main Floor. There Is Place To Buy Coffee/Sodas/Water/Etc/Sweet Or Savory Snacks & Some Lunch Items!! Friendly Service!! The Whole Building Is Pretty Relaxing!!Steffanie Singh⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAMAZING birth experience! Complications arose during my delivery and I was supposed to have a C-Section but the nurse in charge during my delivery (Diana O) did everything in her power to make sure that did not happen. All of the staff was so incredibly nice and informative. I was terrified about getting an epidural and the anesthesiologist made sure I was informed about what was happening every step of the way (it didn’t even hurt)! Thank you so much again to the staff and a special shout out to Diana O, you were an angel and such a pleasure to work with during a stressful time!! 🙂Enya Novem We went to the emergency room at around 8:30 or 9pm and there were only like 4 other patients there. They took way too long (over two hours) to attend my mother. She was clearly suffering because her chest was hurting a lot, as well as her head. She could barely speak. Additionally, they said what she had was an anxiety attack when In reality it was severe gastritis (we went to another hospital and got it checked two days later when the pain returned). All they did was give her Tylenol. Also, their emergency room is uncomfortable.massy khorrami Had an emergency visit at Palomar poway. first they told my brother that it might cost us $500 in case if they do any X-ray. they kept us in the room for two hour just waiting for a nurse to come and check my blood pressure and give me a headache pill that’s it. i got a bill of $2200 although she told us if they do any X-ray it will be around $500. i do not recommend this location for anyone very disappointed.Real3R The worst hospital I’ve ever been to. Very rude doctor. Condescending, short and vague. I will make it my goal to tell everyone I love to never find themselves in the ER at this hospital. I can’t believe a doctor, whose job it is to care about people, could be so cold and utterly rude to someone.Brian Chute Our recent ER visit was professional and quick. We are cash-pay with a ministry health share program for major medical reimbursement. At time of service we paid several hundred dollars on our credit card only to find it was applied to a recent Arch healthcare procedure. It’s been 4 months and multiple phone calls to Palomar health’s billing department to get a correct itemized bill. Still waiting for resolution. Very disappointing.Georgia Vlahos⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis hospital is very good. The nurses and doctors I encountered were the best. So kind and helpful. I think you have to be patient because sometimes they are very busy. I didn’t find them to be slow though, just thorough.Mike A ccc prom The night staff grouped up in a team to laugh at me while i experienced a PTSD attack. 10/10 wouldn’t recommened.Alicia Moreno⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy mother Andrea received the best medical care from Palomar Health 7 West Staff. Thank you for your extraordinary care and professional expertise.Robyn Sendelbach⭐️⭐️I had same day surgery 12DEC2019 at Pomerado Hospital. The experience was exceptional from admissions through discharge. Nurses were attentive and caring. All was good. They required an upfront payment for the surgery. When the insurance was settled in January they had overcharged me by $920. I contacted them in February and was told I would receive a refund in 30-60 days. I contacted them today, 5/2/2019, and they still had not processed the refund. I was told I will be paid in the next 30-60 days. I fully believe if I do not follow-up they will not voluntarily refund my money. I advise that you choose the payment plan for any of your required costs so you can avoid over payment and the risk of not getting reimbursed.Milena Martirosyan Personal is rude, not professional. They don’t know how to talk with people, a specially if that people need medical help. I am waiting with 2 years old kid with a fever 103.7 for a more than a hour. And they don’t even know when they will call me so doctor can check my kid. They didn’t bring her any medication while we are here. The waiting area it’s not full of people but we still waiting for a long, and it’s Wednesday. If u have chance to go to other go there, don’t come to Paloma.Sami Marabeh Waiting time is ‏ ridiculous at there ER I have waited four and a half hour till they called our name still we have to wait in the room for another hour after all that oh we need to do a blood test Which is the could have done it when we were waiting four an a half hour outside then we have to wait for another hour to get the result back basically we spend almost more than 7 hours it’s unorganized organized system they are working backwardsEmiCx⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI experienced a terrible terrible kidney pain recently, and decided to come to Palomar Medical Center (Pomerado Hospital) for emergency, as it was the closest hospital. The front desk nurses were very quick, professional, and helpful in checking me in. I waited no more than 20 minutes before getting a bed and seeing a doctor. Doctors, nurses, and lab persons were all great! I’m super thankful for all of the staff’s knowledge and effort in doing what they do. Keep on saving lives! -EmilianoJackson Jackson⭐️⭐️Went in at 2 pm on Tuesday afternoon with severe chest pain, trouble breathing, nausea, dizziness, lightheasness, and extremely weak. I am also asthmatic and told the nurse when I saw him. I am 62 years old. I had to stand in line while feeling like that and it was horrible!!! That took about 12 minutes. Brief processing and a nurse asked me some questions. I was weak and confused to the point I could not tell them how old I was. I was told to narrow down my worst problems to one or more words. I think I told them I was weak. They ran blood tests, urine tests, an EKG and did an xray on me prior to seeing the doctor app 3 1/2 hours later. I then saw a doctor who did a very brief head to toe physical on me and ask about my symptoms. After sitting in that very uncomfortable waiting room for hours with a bunch of other sick people, I was so miserable that I could not give him the needed reply. It took all I had to be able to hold my head up and the experience was dreadful. My labs were normal and my vitals were normal. I finally was able to tell the doctor I have a history of chronic sinus disease and get very severe sinus infections. That ended up being my diagnosis and what I was treated for. All of the staff were extremely nice; but, they were super, super slow moving. Although I was highly congested with a lot of post nasal drip, the doctor seemed to only notice a slight swelling I my lymph nodes. My interaction with the doctor was extremely brief. Had I not known my diagnosis, I doubt he found have discovered it. That is not too unusual. He treated me similar to the way my allergy/asthma doctor usually does and he was extremely nice. The waiting atmosphere and standing in line so long kept me from being able to communicate well with the doctor. I was so worn down and miserable. Since I had severe stabbing pains and pressure in my chest and I have severe asthma, I feel good that I had the test done but I doubt I will go there again. I felt like a piece of cattle being herded around in an unsafe area until I was about to collapse. Oh yes. There were 2 nearby bathrooms for the waiting room people and the public. That is where the urine samples were obtained. They stayed pretty backed up.Farshid Ahmadi Awful customer service , you should wait for two and half to see doctor. I never go there again. They should change name as emergency to waitingroom.Dee Riley The Joint Commission should pull their accreditation from this place it was that bad. My mother was admitted here for a week. She was in the hallway for 8.5 hrs. and from there it just got worse. She was transferred upstairs to the second floor and not much was put on the white boards in her bedroom, nursing assistants not doing their jobs and me having to track them down. Nurses reprimanding my mother for one reason or another. Her arm being infiltrated multiple times and bruised up. Again a thorough investigation is badly needed at Pomerado Hospital in Poway as well as Palomar Hospital in Escondido is in dire need of an investigation by JAYCO. I could go on since my mother is a retired RN who worked for JAYCO.sam Elie⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI went for emergency room couple days ego the staff wa amazing from the doctors to all nurses and all who works there!! Amazing people and friendly they give extra care i am so happy I went there. Thank you so muchNathanael Francis⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedExcellent staff. Nurses are very nice and helpful. Best hospital experience I’ve had.Luay Altaie Waited for four hours in a freezing wait room I checked in sick and left with no medication sicker than I first check in They don’t tell you anything except waitDiana Ramos Worst service! Staff are rude if you ask a question they give you attitude. This hospital is a joke! You can tell this hospital doesn’t care about their patients or customer service by how they treat their patients and the response to comments rated with 1 Star.Dayakar Karumanchi The emergency division sucks. I don’t know how good the doctors are, but when we go to an emergency we expect to be treated in an hour or may be in two hours. We f****** waiting for 6 hours and nobody f**** cares.. man you need to in crease the staff or stop taking patients….Clouded My heart went into tachycardia with a heart rate of 202 bpm drove there myself since it was 5 minutes away by the time i got there there was a line of three people they were dealing with a little girl probably 3-4 with an ear infection for 20 minutes before they got to me by then the episode was over and i was just feeling bad. we told them what had happened and they did xrays, drew blood, and did a ekg. talked to the guy finalizing the visit and he said trips like mine usually run a few hundred at most. i got a bill one month later and i was charged 4,000 dollars just for the emergency visit itself (My insurance cover a large amount of the bill). I was charged 4k just because they were open and i was able to go see them in an emergency situation, which i had to wait anyways for over 30 minutes total from the time i walked in to the time they talked to me… then after i “checked in” i had to wait another 20 minutes so that i could be seen by anyone. then i got xrays of my chest. the total charged to me was 6,464 dollars 4,000 which my insurance covered which leaves me with a 2,400 bill. they told me a completely wrong number and charged me for stupid fees… i wouldnt recommend this place to anyone in any condition.will shea Someone stole $120 from my wallet either here or at the Palomar continuing care facility. It sucks to have a health problem, but another kick in the teeth when your money gets stolen. I’ll just vent on Google because I know I’m not seeing that money again.Cristina Huntley⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWalked in, got stitched up and was discharged all in under 40 minutes… The staff were nice, professional and attentive.K S I was unemployed and was in the process of applying for medical when i got hurt in an accident. The hospital charged me 15,500$ for 1 ER visit plus another 3,000$ in other bills from the hospital. I applied for charity because there is no way I can afford to pay 15,500$ for an ER visit. They denied me ANY sort of charity or financial help stating “I made too much money on unemployment from the state of Washington”. They would not call me back when I tried to contact them again. They did say they would give me a 40% “cash” discount. Great so that 15,000$ bill went down to 9,400$. I do not own a home my car is only worth 4,000$ and there is NO way i can even afford to pay that 9000$. I told them this. They did not care. And without any other further notice they sent me to collections. So they have now ruined my credit score. And would not help me at all when I am destitute. I guess next time I’ll just suffer and DIE rather than going to a hospital when I need it. Garuanteed that one visit did not cost them 18,000$. Thanks a lot. Worse hospital ever. If you’re dying don’t go there. They also took over 44 min to triage me and even offer to help me when I had a serious injury. They just left me sitting in the bed for an hour. Then they tried to send me home with medications that I’m allergic to. It says in my chart I’m allergic to them and they didn’t even bother to read my chart. horrible pt care and sent to collections when I don’t have a job and asked for help. Find a different hospital to go to unless you like FRAUD and a company that is just trying to ruin people’s lives.Emily Bell Emergency room staff is absolutely horrible also the billing is ridiculous As soon as I arrived I waited for hours to see a Doctor Who stayed with me for less than a minute telling me I had a UTI which wasn’t the case I went back after seeing my doctor later that day and they laughed and said if I wanted to get in there I would have to pay Definitely never going here again they even emailed me a survey to take on the service I rated it low they came back and doubled my emergency room billBlake Tucker Currently deployed in Japan. Wife took our 1 year old daughter in because she’s been puking, has a fever, shaky, wheezing, fast paced breathing and obviously extremely upset for a sick toddler. Waited over 2 hours to be taken back to a room. Waited over an hour to be seen my a doctor. I’ve tried calling multiple times to see what the hell is going on and can not get an answer. I understand it’s an emergency room and it can get packed but for crying out loud they should expect these kind of things and have more doctors and nurses there. It’s a damn hospital for Christ’s sake. I understand adults can get unsettled as well for waiting but when you have a very young child (1 years old) that is very sick, who also doesn’t have the strongest immune system because of her age, you’d think they would have a little bit of priority over others. No offense with that said. I thought the naval medical center was bad, but this is just unbelievable. We will definitely be switching back to tricare prime since the only hospital we trusted can’t get the job done properly. Save your time and go to Sharp Mary Birch or really any other hospital.Gillian Joy Edwards Service is very slow. Dirty place. Its been 3hrs since we’ve been here and we’re just waiting on what are they going to do. It’s not safe for my baby because he’s premature and he’s not supposed to be out in the public for too long cause his immune system is not yet established.Solmaz Azhdari Dirty and awful. The service is very bad.enrique guam Horrible emergency services. They keep you for 3 hours just to see a nurseBrandi Robison Arrived at the ER at 12:45 pm it is 3:52 my dad with chest pains and breathing difficulty has still not been seen. There are still other people in front of us. Ridiculous my family and I will never be back.Andrea Tan⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedBirthing center here is priceless. Forget ucsd and other places. I got my first daughter delivered here. Nurses were very experienced and patient. Anesthesiologist was precise with epidural procedure. My wife delivered our baby natural birth and they really care about the well being of the mom and the baby.Jonathan Scott By far the worst hospital out there. I made a trip into the emergency room and before they let me in and give me the much needed care that I needed, they made me pay three hundred dollars upfront. After explaining my life endangering situation the nurse came back in 20 minutes and told me, “we cant help you please leave our hospital immediately.” I was shocked, appalled, and mortified. I asked them for my refund and the nurse said, “No! Get out of here!” I left feeling hurt and betrayed. HOW COULD ANYBODY POSSIBLY DO SUCH A HORRIBLE AND EVIL THING?! All that money I spent was for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! Over all the staff there are rude, impolite, facetious, careless, thoughtless, dishonest, disloyal, disrespectful, and most of all BAD PEOPLE. I should have sued Pomerado Hospital when I had the chance. To all the people out there reading my review be wise and listen to me when I say this, “don’t go to Pomerado Hospital EVER! You will regret it for the rest of your life!!!”Ama Lo Wait 3 hours in the waiting room with appendicitis symptoms and everyone I mean everyone who came in after me went in before me! Never coming back here again – your “sorry for your wait”doesn’t make it ok!Travis Lockwood⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedExcellent service by the nurses and doctors and really all the staff. Yes they might be short handed, but what hospital isn’t? They literally saved my mother’s life.Barry Sanders⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Better than many ERs Ive been too. Seen fairly quickly and tasted with respect and concern. Sure wait time Barry greatly…Natured Corp.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy dad has been at this hospital for a month. First in the third floor, then Villa Pomerado and later back to the emergency room and intensive care. My family has no words to express the gratitude we have for all the employees. They have gone above and beyond their duty to provide him and us with comfort. You all have been so wonderful and beautiful. My dad’s last moments could not have been better if it weren’t for all of you. You have treated us like part of your family, and turned around the meaning of what a hospital stands for. Thank you! Thank you! Every doctor, nurse, therapists, and staff that have make sure to provide us with everything to make this moment less difficult.Don Nix⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy wife has been experiencing breathing problems for a week with nausea and her throat partially closed. Dr. Friedberg ordered a number of tests to see what was going on..He was just awesome. all of the personnel at Pomarado were excellent ..If you are sick, this is the pace to go.. ..Palomar does the job with 5 STARS!!! Annika the respiratory nurse went out of her way to do so many things for my wife. .Jennie Loop⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI worked there for 10 glorious months and loved it. Great people and a super nice place to be as a patient. Thumbs up!!!Sean Khan This hospital should be ashamed of themselves. Never in my life have I been treated like I’m a bother in a hospital or any medical facility in my 33 years on this earth the Hispanic lady in the front sitting on her butt doing nothing and rolling her eyes when I speak to her should be ashamed of her self. If I were your boss you would be in a world of hurt. If you don’t like your job get a different one. I say in the emergency room with blood comin out of my ear in the worst pain of my lofe and I sit in waiting room for nearly 5 hours? I literally watched several patients that came after me come and go. Next time I will drive out of my way to avoid this emergency room.Troy Martin Complet waste of time. The nurses are rude and The doctor was afraid of his own shadow and his diagnosis was wrong not just a little wrong but very wfong. If I would of listened to his diagnostic I would of lost my right hand. I will never go backlacey sullivan⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedCame in at 3am, no one in the waiting room, a nurse came out to check on our daughter because she heard her crying before we were even completely checked in! Beats the 6 hours we have waited at Rady’s in the past. We were in a room within 4 min of walking through the front door & a doctor was examining our little girl within 15 minutes. I’ve never experienced such quick and friendly interaction at an ER that’s for sure.Ahmad Qubad Really bad experience in this emergency room waiting 3:18 min waiting room and 30 mins in here is no doctor the nurses they have great time with there self just walking and talking …adam alkouri⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAMAZING service, everyone is so friendly and empathetic. I would go out of my way to go to this hospital. It is very clean and equipment is up to date.chiyu chang⭐️⭐️My complain is about Pomerado Hospital billing (financial services), which is a mess and causes patient lots frustration and payment responsibilities. Anyway, BE CAREFUL when you get treatment from Pomerado Hospital, who claims having around 30,000 patients annually !!! I was admitted to Pomerado Hospital with 911 emergency calls. The doctors and nurses at emergency room were very helpful. After the diagnosis, I had to stay 2 days and 2 nights in the hospital for further treatment. During those 2 days and 2 nights, few doctors were assigned to take care of me and they were OK. The only doctor who did very good was the one who fund fluid in my lung and treated me right away. All nurses were very professional. However, when I started to receive medical bills and I found out those bills came from many sources. When we contact the hospital and no one was willing to help. All their answers were, quote: “this is your responsibility”. How can they not knowing what to do with getting authorization from my health insurance and asking my health insurance what’s patient responsibility to pay or not. Especially I was in the emergency room and not able to handle my own physical condition. Because Pomerado Hospital has contract with many doctors and labs (test) for patient gets either out-patient or in-patient treatment. When the patient discharged from the hospital, the patient will get many bills from everywhere. This is a BIG problem, because the patient ends up with many bills and need to pay for those bills (some in full payment responsibility !!!). By the time I tried to query those contracted doctors or labs of why my insurance does not cover the cost. Not only Pomerado Hospital is not willing to help, but also getting run-around by those contracted doctors and labs. One example is the Valle Pathology Medical Associates Inc. who reported me to the collection company with only after one billing statement period.Mahsa Naeemi Aweful services, you gotta wait so many hours to doctor visit you. I just got a smashed finger and had me stay for 3 hours in lobby and then I was about to leave that they let me in. It took 5 hours to get a complete treatment. You probably need to bring foods and blanket for waiting here!Chelsea Dorich⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDr Moat and his assistant Tyler were great. I went in for medical care today, I sat down, and after an appropriate amount of time I received it efficiently and effectively from Dr Moat!!! Tyler was also very nice and helpful; as I am disabled. (disabled should be AND WAS the only word I NEEDED to say to describe the fact that I needed accommodation under the ADA law!) The only quirk I would say I noticed is that the doctor has a brusk bedside manner. This struck me as odd, but he thought I was “homeless” in an angora sweater dress, leggings, lace leg warmers, and a Betsy Johnson purse. Odd… Other than that, this is still my ‘favorite’ er (I don’t think having a favorite er is a thing) and I would choose this er over all the others in San Diego if (and when) I am unlucky enough to need to go to the er.Michelle⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy mom is currently in this hospital. She came in through the emergency room on Saturday, in critical care. They didn’t waste a second and got her in and began treating her. They admitting her into ICU until she was stable enough to go to mid-care. I can’t rave enough about the service from the nurses, the doctors and even the CNA’s. It’s still a hospital, so you need to wait, but I can tell you that they made sure she was getting the right and best treatment, every step of the way. I thank Dr. Chan and the rest of the team for saving my moms life! She’s still not out of the woods, but I wouldn’t want her anywhere else.B.R. Joseph⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy stay at Pomerado was nothing short of fantastic especially for someone who has had a fear of doctors and hospitals for as long as I can remember. The “why” isn’t important – what is important is to share my story and let others know how fantastic the staff are at this hospital. I was admitted on June 27th and looking like I was on my death bed – and in certain terms, I was. My hemoglobin was at ‘6’, I had lost over 50 pounds in just under 4 months, was dehydrated and malnourished as well as having nearly no iron in my body – the first thing they wanted to know was how I was losing blood – I was put on a blood transfusion pretty early on as well as getting iron. An MRI uncovered a tumor in my colon region but it wasn’t just a tumor, it wants to take over my body. Long story short, I received exceptional nursing and doctor’s care beyond what I could have ever expected as well as having wonderful chaplains visit me on a regular basis. Pomerado is an exceptional hospital with truly caring nurses and doctors and would recommend them to anyone for anything. God Bless Pomerado and all of it’s staff for bringing me back to life.Mary N I’m very disappointed to share this review but they are horrible in their customer service and they make you sit there even if ur in a very severe pain they make u sit and sit for hours and hours then the nurse comes out with an attitude it looks like they don’t want to help or work here they are forced to work here!!! There was another older lady who was soo in pain and asked if she can get a bed even in the hallway but the nurse answerd rudely saing no there is no nurse to assist her there is no bed.. I mean this is not right patients are in pain they need to lay down not sitting there for hours!!! It’s not a regular hospital to wait it’s a ER!!!! Hope this will help them improve!!!Carson Mckurtis Why is it that the ladies up front act so desensitized to ppl that come in needing help? A car accident left me on crutches so when my mother was having a heart attack i pull up & crutch/run in the doors, we (both ladies @ desk) & myself lock eyes n they look away….so im panicking and i just grabbed a wheelchair and head 4 the door, i start passing the desk rything in pain & i (in a loud panicked voice) say can u please help me get my mom shes showing signs of a heart attack & i cant push her please help… They both look at me one responds well where is she so I said nevermind grab the wheel chair with one hand crutches in the other and limped it all the way out to the car the lady finally shows up behind me at the car and says I’ll take her from here and the first thing she asks is do you have your ID so we can fill out your billing information….. REALLY? The sad thing is I know that if it was her mom there would have been no question about pushing the wheelchair or getting her out of the car for immediate help… I honestly feel that that lady only jumped up and followed me out there because she knew I was upset not because my mom needed help I could be wrong but that’s how it felt. So if you ever need help you might want to go to a different hospital… I gave one star because it didn’t allow me to post unless I put a star….
