Anna Patti⭐️⭐️Buyer beware. I had an outpatient surgery done at Penrose. A week before the surgery someone from billing called me and told me a prepayment of over $1,600 was required for the procedure to happen. Over two months have passed and not only has a claim not been submitted to my insurance, my other bills from other providers have come in. Therefore, Penrose owes me 95% of my prepayment as a refund because THEY have failed to submit a claim to my insurance and their “prepayment” does not count toward my out-of-pocket amount. I need to pay my other bills and they’re holding onto my money! I’m very frustrated this is going to spill into multiple tax years and that they required prepayment in the first place if they’re incapable of billing in less than two months. If they really wanted to reduce their bad debt they should be the first ones to submit claims to insurance companies. And furthermore there is no reason for them to require prepayments from patients because all it does is screw up the insurance process for us. They need to bill patients insurance companies FIRST just like every other provider.Ron WAtkins⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedTook a person from the church to Penrose for some care. All the people at Penrose did an excellent job. They were all helpful, and all professional. I have been there for my own care and appreciate the people there who do all they can to help us.Mom Warrior⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️For the most part I get what I need here and I’m in and out without a whole lot of obstacles. Penrose is an older landmark based facility. Quick access from I25 from the Uintah or Fillmore exit.A SvThe ER at this hospital is absolutley terrible. My friend and I got into a severe car accident on the highway and we were brought to the ER. I was complaining of a severe headache the entire time and I was also complaining of pain in my leg. They chose to not listen to me or do anything for the pain I was in. I saw about 4 different nurses. None of them were very friendly and nobody asked if I needed anything or how I was doing. My friend got the same treatment a couple rooms down from me. At the very last minute as I was leaving the nurse said in a very rude manner “if you go back to your room I have pain meds for you” Mind you I asked that same nurse if I could have something for the pain and she said just motrin. They finally gave me one percocet. I also asked that same nurse for a doctors note and she questioned me on why I would need one. Then she says “well yeah you did hurt your leg didn’t you?” 2 days later we both had to go to urgent care because the pain was so bad. They ended up giving us muscle relaxers and pain patches. The doctor over there couldn’t believe that we didn’t get anything at the hospital. I will never go to this ER ever again. Nobody seemed to care. Everyone seemed desensitized.John LottNot the place to go. I’m pissing blood, but stable enough to go home? Doctor was rude and looked overworked. There’s a few good people there, but they’ll openly tell you that they’d rather you not come in even if a doctor recommended you to the ER.Alex Botello⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy dad passed away here and everyone was so generous in their support during his passing. Thank you to everyone that helped during this traumatic experience, making him comfortable, to making sure we had food and water.David SmithI was in for 3 days after surgery I had on my wrist for a staff infection. All but one of the nurses I had were terrible about answering the call button, had one nurse tell me not to expect her to be on time for my pain medication for at least 30 minutes and was usually 45 min to an hour late. Sad to have this kind of care, don’t know if this is because they are under staffed or uncaring and unprofessional nurses. This happened in May 2019.Derek BarnesI called and asked if I could bring in the family dog.I was told to go ahead and come in and we could talk about it. So I go in and whoever I had talked to was no where to be found and I was denied visitation with my mother because it was shift change even though the lady let 3 other people go back not 20 seconds before me. So i was told by someone on her floor to come on in during shift change and two that someone noone could find when I got there 10 mins after making the call. Thanks for wasting my time and for whatever reason stopped from seeing my mother who just had a stroke when you let 3 people in 20 seconds before me I was literally the last person in line waiting out of 4. Complete bs if you ask me….Rae Christiansen⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy experience at Penrose with my very ill daughter (who was visiting C. Springs) was the best I have ever experienced during years of her unstable and life threatening illness. She was seen immediately when she came to the ER. She was visited by knowledgeable caring docs, given appropriate tests & ER treatment & admitted to the cardiology unit. Where they had her stabillized in 3 days & provided her with an oxygen concentrator for her flight home. She has had other ER experiences when traveling, including at the University of Washington in Seattle where they didn’t know how to help her & just seemed to want to send her away. So I am especially appreciative of the caring, knowledgeable staff at Penrose!Pat Powers⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Had surgery for ovarian cancer and six treatments of chemo at Penrose hospital. Very caring staff and the infusion center is the best- 6 stars for knowlegeable and caring staff.Dave M⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAlways have excellent service and excellent doctors here. They treat you with respect every time, and every person we have met that works here goes above and beyond when you need help.RoseMedicalCenter⭐️⭐️Someone dropped the ball on my mom’s discharge. I don’t know if it was the case manager who never gave me or my mom his last name nor a contact number or the surgeon who made campaign promises that he could get her into a skilled nursing facility following her knee replacement (an assurance he made her multiple times) but someone did not try hard enough to make the system work for my mother. Instead, they discharged an anxious senior widow to an empty house. We as her family had to scurry to get the house ready for her because we were *assured* that the surgeon knew the system well enough to work with the Penrose team to get her into a SNF. I’m well aware the insurance plays a major role in this, and they’ve heard from me as well, but the hospital and their partnership with the surgeon needed to make this system work for my mom and they did not. The two stars alone are for the excellent nursing care, CNAs (for the most part), PT/OT and EVS (Tommy made my mom smile every day he was working). I do not recommend Penrose for joint replacement surgery as the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing.Philip MartinHorrible customer service front desk is very rude and intolerantDodo God5152If i could give 0 stars i would but my wife had intense abdominal pain and we went in to get it checked out and we were there for over 5 hours and they hadent even got her in a room. People who showed up after us got in and out real quick. When i asked how long they told me 5 other people were ahead of her and i asked how and got a very rude response. I do not recomend coming here if you have a real emergency. They just want you to leave so they dont have to take care of you. Worst hospital ive ever walked into.Christian Rider Reba⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWent to emergency and was greeted and helped right away. Jordan in triage was excellent! When we got our room our nurse Tara was as sweet as could be. Took care of me right away and stayed on top of test and meds. Dr. Thacker was as nice as can be. He listened to what I was going through and then made sure that every symptom was taken care of. Very happy with my experience at Penrose.Danielle ReaslandThe worst “emergency” room we have ever been to. My father has Dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s. His doctor sent us to the ER because my father is refusing to eat and is basically incoherent. We waited in the emergency for hours until he was seen. When they finally brought him back my father who was confused and didn’t know where he was got angry and combative when the staff tried to “care” for my father. They didn’t check anything on my father other than his vitals. They turned us away and said since he was combative that there was nothing they could do for him. They told us that his condition is what it is so they could maybe test his blood, but that wouldn’t tell us anything that what we already know. This hospital isn’t equipped to take care of someone in my Dad’s state, and we are deeply disappointed with the “treatment” he received today.Timothy Smith⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedFamily members had surgery at Penrose and staff and Docs were great. We stayed there for about a week and had a great experience.Bekka Wells⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had to go for a personal problem and I have never had such nice and helpful nurses. They were so sweet and reassuring. To be honest, I was second guessing going at all, but they were so kind it put my mind to ease. Obviously, the 4 hour wait wasn’t ideal but for an ER it was great! The waiting room was pretty quiet (again, for an emergency room) as well.Janet Jet⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedLoving caring staff when I needed it the most! Thank you staff at Penrose HospitalYvette MacLearnOne star that is all they deserve! My husband was admitted over a week ago, and is still in the hospital! They have done test upon test with no answers! They treated him like a dream the first few days and then after they thought he had stayed too long their treatment of him jumped off a cliff and died. He has been miserable the few days, and just wants to leave. He doesn’t even care about getting answers anymore. I really thought this place was different. Its not. Its like every other hospital! Only after the money not after the well being of the patient. Its like they want to push him out of the hospital. I’ve seen other patients get treated better. I guess if you have money the more they are willing to do for you. I have told several Doctors that what my husband is going through has halted our lives. We had to put off trying to start a family. The first Doctor was super gunghoe about helping him get better. I want him back! These other Docs can take a hike! We just want some help! Is that too much to ask? He doesn’t want to be there anymore than they want him there.Sam BrookefeldAbsolutely terrible. The filthiest hospital I’ve ever been in, the unethical staff are not just rude but also cruel and often can be heard mocking patients. They are very unscientific and will blindly apply protocol whether or not it actually fits the situation, causing more problems for patients than they fix. God help you if you’re a little agitated when you check in, they will throw you in a six-hour hold with no reason or investigation and refuse to check on you.Kristofer Carlson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe ICU is excellent. Even on the regular patient floors, the nurses are sweet and helpful. And the hospice floor is primo, especially the rooms with the mountain view.xSLAY3R125x xHorrible service its takes them 5 hours to attend someone and take blood and another 5 hours to even get back to you to say everything is fine and if they book you overnight for stay they can give you a room nevertheless get a wheelchair that takes 4 hours to get ready absolutely horrible in the tine it takes to attend someone, someone would have died. my mother was admitted here she was supposed to be in sugury but due to heath issues that apperently doctors who some how have a degree could not attend to in 4 hours and these heath issues are no joke this hospital is a joke are there no decent health centers in ColoradoTisha Barry⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedEXCELLENT ONCOLOGY DEPT! THE NURSE’S ARE EXCEPTIONAL! THE DR’S ARE AWESOME AS WELL! BUT WE DID HAVE THAT ONE DR AND ONE NURSE THAT WE ALL DREAD! BUT AFTER 35 DAYS, THAT’S SUPERB ODDS! THE AREA OF MEDICINE THESE AMAZING PEOPLE ARE IN IS A VERY HARSH ONE, AND THE REALITY OF THE SITUATION IS DEVASTATING TO SAY THE LEAST! BIT THEY MAINTAIN A UNIQUE WAY ABOUT THEM THAT SPREADS HOPE AND PROMISE TO THE PATIENTS THEY ARE CARING FOR! ID GIVE THEM 10 STARS IF I COULD! MY HEARTFELT THANK YOUS AND GRATITUDE GOES TO EVERYONE OF THE AMAZING NURSING STAFF INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE BEEN INVOLVED WITH THE ONGOING CARE AND TREATMENT FOR MY BEST FRIEND, THE MOST AMAZING, STRONG, BRAVE AND LOVING MAN I’VE EVER LOVED, MY PARTNER, MY LOVE LARRY!Jeff D⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAwesome Emergency room. I noticed the average rating and had to contribute. This place is not average. Definitely ABOVE average. We were at the emergency room and they would ask if we wanted any juice, coffee, Ice water or sandwiches while we waited to see my father-in-law. Hated to be there in the first place but they made it very comfortable. Much better than Memorial. God bless you all. Thank you!Janet Huffman⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedCaring personnelazlapd74⭐️⭐️Man this place gets worse and worse every time I come here. And that’s not even as a patient, I can only imagine how bad it is for them.Brian Kwan⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️there was some disagreement between doctors about the proper diagnosis, but ultimately they made the right call. ER had a lot of different people coming in and out who didn’t seem to communicate with each other, and there were a lot of repeat questions. overall, however, a good experience.Laura Zulanas⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe food was really good and had a great selection. Much better than any other hospital I have eaten at before. It is nice to have good food when you are going through a hard time with a loved one and have to stay at the hospital all day. Thank youC JohnsonI was referred by my Doctor to the Penrose St. Francis sleep center (Woodmen Rd location) to get a sleep test done. The sleep center at the Woodland Park address NEVER answers their phone. NEVER. Then they play a recording that if you leave a message for them to “please allow SEVEN BUSINESS DAYS for a return phone call”. SEVEN BUSINESS DAYS? That is beyond incredible. Absolutely awful customer service. As an update, the sleep center at the Woodmen Rd location finally, after many months, called me and set an appointment which I kept. It took many months and many phone calls from me, my Doctor, her Office Manager to finally coerce them to call me. The message that “we only return calls on Wednesdays” is still on their message.James Payne⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI recently had 2 procedures performed at this facility. I want people to know that from registration to nurses to doctors.. they were all wonderful.. I have never experienced such an attentive and caring staff.. Not only would I push to return I would encourage others to use this facility…Greg Guzman⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedClean hospital. Staff Respects privacy. Nice chapel and the chaplain is very knowledgeable and helpful.Travis Sharlow⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedVery great expiernce here at penrose. The staff and nurses went above and beyond to make family member feel comfortable and well taken care of.Great views of the peaks and very clean… Thanks Penrose staff!!!Philip C⭐️⭐️I called & spoke to a nurse, she assured me that the information I gave over the phone would be available when we arrived. The person at the desk in ER didn’t care, and our information wasn’t there. She just shrugged & ignored us. Later on, I had to go back to that desk & tell them that my daughter was throwing up & she shrugged again. We waited for 6 hours in the back room before they figured out my daughter had appendicitis! I’m grateful that the surgeon was very competent & the nurses were nice.Connie Drye⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff in this hospital were awesome and professional. Dr. Stringfellow prayed by my bedside twice before my procedure and had the kindest bedside manner I’ve ever seen. I have the utmost respect for all people who work hard to make this place run efficiently and with integrity.Analicia ReneeInexperienced hospital staff. Physicians talking about patients and their families loudly in the reception areas. Nothing like a good HIPAA violation. Palliative care that bullies people into signing DNRs. Overall if I could give a zero I would. Worst hospital ever. I would rather die in an alleyway than go here. Either way you’d be sending me to my death.Cheri Hartless⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy aunt has been receiving awesome care in the hospice wing. they are very attentive and caring to my aunt. They are also very good to us as well. The cafeteria has really good selections. However parking is limited.Nakia Jones⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGreat hospital with great caring staff. The ER is open 24/7 . A place to trust your life with always. One of the best in Colorado SpringsMark Martinez⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was examined in the Emergency Department and later admitted for chest pain. I am extremely grateful for the immediate and attentive care I received at Penrose Main Hospital. I was seen immediately, before my shirt was taken off I was already getting oxygen and having blood draws and vitals taken. They Dr.s and Nurses were excellent in being very thorough in my examinations. Once admitted, I received constant care and follow ups until the Dr. released later the next day. I have been at patient at the other hospital in town, they cant compare anywhere close to Penrose. This will continue to be my hospital of choice for me and my family. Kudos to all at PSF! 🙂Joe Kucinski⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedLots of great folks encountered 12/23/2016 -12/24/2016 but nurse Kayla in the BBU stood out. Her caring, attention and professionalism make her an asset Penrose St Francis can be proud of. Thanks Kayla!Sky AndersonThe Human Resources department is generally very nice and helpful but there are a few employees such as Jill Silva and her mother who will be completely rude anytime they’re spoken to or are speaking to you. They’ve rolled their eyes multiple times when talking to me and show no respect or care for what is needed when I walk into their department. When they’ve approached me it’s often been completely unprofessional, her mother will stand in the hall and swing her arms and ask you what you need. I’ve been in that department for hours before and the entire time they were talking to eachother and chatting about non work related things. I do not understand how either of them got anything work related done. I wish they had the same empathy and compassion as the rest of the employees in the department. They do not make me feel like I’m getting help when I come in there, they seem like I am wasting there time when I ask simple questions such as where another department is located.Amy Peck⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had surgery in February for uterine cancer and I was very pleased with the care I got. The surgical nurses understood my fear and the nurses on 11West were great. Dr. Pikaart was very kind and explained everything to me. It had been 22 years since I was in the hospital and I feel Penrose main was the best hospital I have ever been in.Neil de CrescenzoThe Penrose Hospital of Colorado Springs mental health facilities are below par for even a third-world nation. Beware of doctors who talk down to patients and medical staff who are very disrespectful. Doctors sedate patients once they start to complain of poor medical care. The hospital abuses their authority and does everything they can to get people out of their care. Please stop treating people with mental health issues as if they are less of a human than others. If you have a family member experiencing a mental health crisis, I’d recommend you avoid Penrose Hospital of Colorado Springs.Martin CampbellTheir pre-op estimate of costs was about 30% of the amount billed to our insurance. No complications, no additional procedures nothing out of the ordinary. All of a sudden we are presented with a bill that was more than twice what we were told was our co-pay. When the attending was contacted we were told the OR time was less than anticipated and no complications were experienced and in her opinion, our costs should have been less. The financial people can never find our records to compare, have forwarded the wrong patient to our insurance for payment, they refuse to return calls and we will never use this facility again. Never!Emma AragonPenrose is my favorite hospital in Colorado Springs. The ER is very quick compared to most other hospitals, my longest wait has been 30 minutes and the longest amount of time I’ve spent at Penrose has been 3 hours and that was for a Cancer Diagnosis so that is expected to take a long time. The gynecological oncology center is very great as well! They are both friendly, accurate, and care about your time and health. Penrose is always my first choice and I recommend this hospital to friends and family. I am editing this because my last visit just now was horrible. They were fast getting me in but it took 4 hours after that. My collarbone is in excruciating pain but they couldn’t find a fracture so they told me they could only give me Tylenol which I break out in hives when I take it. I have been in pain constantly for a week and taking ibuprofen 800 for the swelling and pain, I’m still in major pain and can barely move the upper half of my left side of my body. I sat there for 4 hours with no solution. I would have gone to primary care but since this was technically an “assault” they made me go to the hospital. If I were anyone else, this would force a person to get pain medication illegally. This is wrong and I feel that I could not receive medication because the doctor (blonde woman) was judging me for my age, tattoos and the situation that caused my injury. I’m livid.John Heathrow⭐️⭐️Great hospital great doctors but the worst parking ive ever seen!!!! I had to drop off my mother and walk 1/4 mile from were I finally found a spot to park and when I got back one of the locals in the neighborhood left me a lovely note on my car window. I think I will go to MEMORIAL next time….Kathy Stempko⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedLove the ER/ED, all staff, facility, volunteers, hospital volunteers!!! Post ER/ED, I was on 3CVU (Cardiac Vein Unit) 24/7 w/ my Mom for 6 days & the following week overnight once. My only negative is poor cafeteria hours & limited selection.Eddie saldana⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy experience at Penrose St.Francis south was no less than excellent when it came to the nursing care provided to me by “Stacy” who worked the 6pm to 7am shift 12/14 to 12/17.2015. She combined her expert nursing care with a true expression of concern for the patients needs, head and shoulders above all caregivers throughout my stay there and elsewhere. I say this in leu of having had 2 total knee replacements, an unexpected prolonged hernia repair stay and of course the very involved spinal surgery completed there at Penrose St. Frances. Thank to from the bottom of my heart Penrose St. Francis and your employee Stacy, RN for the loving care provided me during my stay with you. I will recommend you to all my family, friends and co-workers. Sincerely, ELSBrandon KirkPenrose St. Francis billing department charged my card which they kept on file for 798.54 All of our bills had been paid long before and we had no balance. There were multiple attempt to get money out of account. In fact they got me down to the very last cent that could be authorized from my account. Someone in the billing department is committing fraud and using my card to pay someone elses medical bills. I have contacted my bank and had to cancel my card. Now I have to get over 20 auto debits reassigned to a new card. Do not trust Penrose St. Francis with your financial information.David Griffin⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI went in last night having severe panic attacks and anxiety and they were awesome helped give me a piece of mind gave me a ekg and had me on my way in about a hour Thank you Penrose emergency staffPatricia ButlerAlicia and leslie nurses 4th floor AMAZING… Gina floor 4 nurse incompetent, rude, and discharge my husband against what the dr. Said… How is this possible?. His oxygen monitor came off, she was notified, did nothing, sent him home without oxygen when doctor specifically said HE MUST GO ON OXYGEN. She messed up and covered her own butt with “her friend”Nurse from the 3rd floor who was monitoring him. FIRE THEM BOTH. Gina even said to us, good to have friends upstairs when you need them. She has put my husbands life in danger. Were on our way home now, and im am horrified with the disturbing service this nurse is giving.Alison MearaA family member of mine was admitted to this hospital after suffering from a stroke. After her 5 day stay at the hospital (where she was basically neglected due to not being as “visibly severe” as some of the other patients… which led to a second stroke that I believe could have been prevented, but I digress), she was referred to Gretchen Harder, a speech language pathologist at Penrose Hospital. After expressing to Gretchen that she was going through some depression and anxiety from what she had been through, Gretchen told her “well that’s something to tell your primary care doctor, not me.” This statement from a care provider could affect anyone in a vulnerable state, much less after a blood clot in the brain. One of the prerequisites of Speech Pathology is to be at least somewhat sympathetic to patients that have gone through traumatic experiences; this should be common sense for anyone in the medical profession.Caleb ConoverFirst time I come in told 0 co pay, well I didn’t get fixed and had to go back AGAIN told 400 dollars for copayment and that I owe the same from day before. Average wait is 4-6hours so you better not be dying cause you will as you wait. Staff in front area could care less.. Make sure you get an actual doctor not a nurse. I was born in this hospital and I’m surprised I’m alive with how things are done. Still have a dry IV in my arm waiting to be seen if I could give 0 stars I would basically took me to the bank and still not better same symptoms all they did was draw blood and give me fluid took 4hours!!! ignored my other symptoms now I’m stuck in this terrible loopMelody Compton⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedNo one wants to be stuck in pediatrics with their 2 year old, but if you must this is the place to be. I have been here for two nights, going on three days. Overall the staff is very hospitable, and compassionate. Not only to my son as a patient, but to me as a parent. They are quick to answer questions and request feedback from me as to how I feel about certain practices they are performing on my munchkin. I’m not fond of Drs, and absolutely dread multiple over night stays in a hospital. However, I have to say, this experience has been a relief. I had a few issues with a nurse and they were addressed immediately, with kindness and concern. I birthed my son at this hospital, and while it was a pleasant experience, nothing quite compares to the service I have experienced this week during our stay. Thanks to all the nurses who have taken such great care of us, 5 stars all the way around.Suzanne Giles⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedBest Hospital I’ve ever been in. They treated my mother like a queen when she broke her hip, the ER was clean and the staff was professional. The Night nurses and CNA’s that took care of my mother were so pleasant and understanding too! Thank you for all your hard work !Nadia LeacockMy mom has pulmonary hypertension, has a blood clot in her arteries going to her lungs. She came in about a week ago because she suffers from edema. Her legs were swollen and hard. The emergency room doctor told us that my moms X-rays and everything else was fine , and it’s just her age that’s effecting her health . And there’s nothing the hospital could
