Before you go to Providence Saint Joseph Emergency Care, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Burbank emergency room think.
Holly CheungI was out of town and had an ovarian cyst that ruptured and thought it was appendicitis, and came in around 5 pm and didn’t get out until midnight. The wait times were excruciating, I had to ask around more than five times because I was in so much pain and needed assistance, and apparently there was only ONE doctor and ONE nurse in the hall. What really did it for me was the jokes staff made – it wasn’t funny at the time at all. I had to do a urine test and they told me that I was actually pregnant and then just a “No, I’m just kidding with you” with giggling that followed. Then, the nurse at a later time told me that he talked to a doctor and that I had been instructed to stay overnight and the following night as well, which made me panic MORE. It really wasn’t appropriate at all since I was so scared already and not sure what it was, and it turned out to be internal bleeding too. The doctor that treated me seemed to always be in a rush, which is understandable, but given the situation, I love to have all my questions answered. They only let one visitor in with me at a time so my mom had to wait outside and after explaining to my dad, she walked in. The doctor just left and brushed her aside, which truly rubbed me the wrong way. Another horrible occurrence during this visit was that I needed a CT scan done when they told me I probably didn’t have appendicitis, but had to “make sure.” After it was done and my diagnosis was confirmed, the nurse was saying things about how he knew it wasn’t appendicitis and how I didn’t even need the CT scan. I’m really not looking forward to this ER bill.. To anyone there, please never go to this ER. Ever. Find somewhere else that truly cares about their patients and the sick and takes their concerns (AND their families’ concerns) seriously. This happened when I was out of town, and I am glad to never have to come back.john glading⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I don’t understand what it is about urologists that makes them think that talking down to patients and berating them is the best course of action. Every answer I gave the Dr was either scoffed at or dismissed entirely. I was even laughed at when i responded to an attack on my psyche. The rest of the staff is incredible. The hospital is great, the floor nurses are amazing, and the ER staff does everything they can to help, even when completely overwhelmed. I will happily keep using this hospital and its ER, I just hope that maybe the urologists can gain some of their humanity back and treat people as people.Pat Rivera⭐️⭐️Waited 5 1/2 hour in the ER to get a bed in the main hospital. I asked the head nurse Lauren, when will my mother was going to be transferred and her response was short and full of attitude. The last thing a patient or a member of her family need in a hospital is attitude. Worrying about your loves is enough. The rest of the staff were nice.F CHad to sit in here and listen to the security staff laugh at and mock patients asking questions, even an elderly confused man asking for the nurse. Then listened to them openly debate which nurse was hotter or who was “past their prime.” Didn’t know such gross people could be entrusted to deal with such sensitive situations and people at their most vulnerable.Alexander PrestonOne of the worst ERs in my long medical history. So clogged up they couldn’t get to an urgent situation with any urgency whatsoever. Probably need another ER to sufficiently cover this area.Derek JoeI walked in with stomach issues and received absolutely zero empathy. I guess I didn’t fill out the form correctly when I arrived in intense discomfort. So I sat down a minute to gain my composure. The ladies at the front desk began to get very frustrated and even started yelling at me. I yelled “I am in pain” I was than met with “Do not talk to us that way or you will have to leave. They spoke to me like I was a disgruntled customer at Starbucks and not someone who was in need of medical help. It blew my mind. This place has really gone down hill. Between the extremely long wait time, no urgency and rude staff I give this place a big 1 star. Will never visit this ER again. EVER!Nikki Armstrong⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI broke my wrist in a pickle ball turnament and don’t have any insurance. I didn’t know where to go but I wasn’t far from this emergency Room and I ended up their. They have free valet per parking for the emergency Room I guess they take people in on some kind of urgency basis they knew I was in pain. The doctor called me in within 15 minutes I had my x-rays done within about 25 they put me in a separate bed and send someone over to help me fill out the forms for charity care and I could not believe how helpful every single person was! Even the people that were not directly helping me that work there were super nice. I got a cast and a prescription for pain killers. They set up my appointment with the orthopedist for the next day. I can’t believe and I’ll say it again I really can’t believe how awesome this place was. Super efficient helpful and comfortable and fast! I’m definitely taking anybody there are telling anybody they go there if they have an emergency this was in the middle of the day it wasn’t even there for an hour and a 1/2. If you can go there and definitely never go to Van nuys hospital emergency RoomJojo Castillo⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWaited only 30 mins. Was taken great care of. Was given a lunch back sandwich lays child’s and juice. Was in ICU for 4days got my own room down stairs because they were able to stabilize me. Staff was very upbeat fun and extremely caring Even at 1amMichael Langley⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had to walk in to the Providence Emergency Room this week after 4pm. Upon first sight of how many people were in the lobby, expected to be there into the wee hours of the morning, and possibly deal with some overworked, and angry staff. To my pleasant surprise, every single person I dealt with – reception, intake, nurses, doctors, X ray department, transport (wheel chair drivers who should have tip jars), and even most of the other patients I spoke with during my minimal 3 hour stay there, were exceptionally kind, professional, and as friendly as they could be on such a busy shift. The care I received was top notch. My nurse was very nice, and didn’t bruise me up when applying the IV, like many others have in the past. It also didn’t hurt that the ER Doctor who handled my case looked very much like Thomas F. Wilson (maybe “Biff” has a medical degree???). I would instantly recommend Providence ER to any of my friends who may ever need their services.Y MaynoldiI experienced the worse nightmare tonight, listening to my Mom screaming because the pain until the point I almost fainted was the worse time ever in the emergency room. Doctor Michael C Daignault drained an infected eyelid without any anesthesia making my 83 yr old Mom scream in pain. Cruel just cruelEmma Elsea⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedIf you need a fast and better action of an ER, I highly recommend Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center. All the staff here are all attentive, and they gave every one a big smile and cared too much of all their patient. They are not just checking you up and throw you lots of medicine but instead they are listening to your case. They help me in all the way that they can help to afford my bill through my insurance. Providence Saint Joseph is right beside you.King KoopaWhat else can i say these nurses are evil and manipulativeNorma Medina⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI delivered my son here love this hospital.Russell Aiello⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I have been using Providence St. Joseph Medical Center (Hospital) for all my medical needs for the past 15 years. I must say I’ve never had a bad experience… The Nurses/Doctors and medical assistance have been friendly, helpful and most of all knowledgeable. I highly recommend if you need a ER, go to St. Joseph. Thank you to the St. Joe’s staff.Veronica Cernean⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had both of my babies here. Such a nice experience and nurses did a great job! Thank you 🙂Emily MejiaWorst place ever! Nurses are so rude and Roll their eyes everytime you say something hurts . They have no kind of respect for anyone at all! It seems that only teenagers work here . I went because I had really bad abdominal pain to the point where i rolled to the floor of how bad my pain was, all they told me was “ oh okay maybe you’re sore or just pulled a muscle “ like I don’t need a maybe I want to be sure of what I have like cmon don’t be lazy and do your job! No communication at all! I would totally recommend Cedar Sinai instead they do more than expected to make sure you leave not worried.Anna AlThe worst hospital ever. Unprofessional staff. Waited over 7 hours just to see a doctor .Leslie GroverI’m writing an op-ed for the LA Times about my experience with the cruel Charge Nurse and Security Staff at St. Josephs. When you ask a Charge Nurse for help and she gets in your face and tells you to shut up then the rentacop laughs and acts like hes gagging in your face because you are throwing up, it’s time to set some things right. Secondly, I’ll write an op-ed about how Sherman Oaks Hospital ER actually believed me, did an xray, and diagnosed me with Pneumonia & admitted me for IV ABT (Which I responded to quickly) Now I can breathe. TY. Lastly, I’m going to petition St. Joseph Ombudsman and perform an undercover operation with video and audio. Nothing is a coincidence. If that Nurse and Guard did that to me, they’ll do that to others. I watched them. My advice:Stay away from St. Joseph Hospital in Burbank. You will leave there traumatized and scarred for life. Go elsewhere.Lety Romero⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI really appreciate the prompt response when taking my mom to ER. The attention and admission was great. The full week stay was less stressful with the great service of all the RN’s, Respiratory Therapist, Nursing assistants and Doctors. I am very satisfied with their care. Thank you to all the staff at St Joseph’s Medical Center. ❤️kori ellisonCommunication was absolutely ridiculous !!! Staff were beyond rude and exaggerated discharge time by more than 4 hours , eventually forgetting that we were here because we were placed in the hallway awaiting simple ultrasounds for pregnancy!!! I wouldn’t recommend anyone to come here !!!Diane Black⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThey were so fast and I was in and out in less than an hour including the X-ray!FRANCISCO SCARAMANGA*Just choose a different emergency room…josh kaekul⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Honestly had bad impression at FIRST but now im relieved. They handled everything very well.Sandra MoranI was there today and a physicians assistant diagnosed me with the flu without any influenza test. She said they have a shortage and wouldn’t test me unless I was getting admitted. They have too many PAs and no doctors.EmmillienneIrritatingly unhelpfulERICK MONROYThis hospital in not goodAnaeis AlexanderWaited for more than 6 hours to see a doctor. Seriously!!
