Research Medical Center Reviews

Before you go to Research Medical Center, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Kansas City emergency room think.

Paul M⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe nurses at Sarah Cannon are excellent. When you are sitting there for 4-5 hours during chemo, it’s very nice to have a light spirited atmosphere. They have fun at they’re job, which takes the dread away from the patients. These ladies are FIRST CLASS in my bookMike Hofmeister⭐️⭐️⭐️Surgery went well. Doctors seem to have done a good job on the procedures and taking care of business. All polite and cordial. Waited 2-21/2 hours is surgery waiting room as no beds were available anywhere in the hospital. I have family waiting in the family waiting room and nobody went to go talk to them for over two hours after I had been out of surgery. Seems like the nurses were so busy that they never had time to talk or do follow-ups. Breakfast trays would sit all day until the next meal came along and that tray would wait until the next meal came along nobody ever cleaned up after themselves. Follow up in communication would be something that I would highly suggest improves with staff to patient and family members. I will say however the medical care was more than sufficient.Bonnie Kelly⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI have had stays at 4 area hospitals with surgeries at 3 of them. Research was the best experience of all. By far. From now on I will, if possible, go to Research. Kind. Efficient, private rooms. Excellent attentive nursing (thank you Brady and Jacob on the 3rd floor, Lyn in pre-op). I can’t emphasize the positive experience enough.Anita B. Malott⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was seen on time, treated with respect, questions were answered. My concerns were taken to account. I have been very happy with my care. I definitely would return.Jaleena Cooper⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWonderful birthing center! Nurses were awesome. My younger sister and i were waiting for my eldest sister as she had her baby. Nurse Gloria was awesome putting our minds at ease and keeping us updated. The entire staff were super friendly.Lesslee Coots⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff is beyond nice, and super friendly and helpful. It honestly makes going to the doctors so comfortable!! They provide A+ care and listen to you. So thrilled to have found this place for my all my health care needs.Kolika Simmons⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI always have a good experience with the HCA group, Research and Menorah both. The care is always comprehensive, the staff is never dismissive of pain, they’re always attentive and treat EVERY symptom like a real symptom. The nurses are always quick to answer questions over the phone for post-op care, and are never condescending. Every medical experience has the opportunity to be either very scary or bracing, but everyone here from the nurses to the doctors to the staff in the cafeteria make sure to be conscientious of what you are (or might be) going through.Secille Williams⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWhen I was sent to the wrong building, the staff at the surgery wing was so kind as to get me a wheelchair and take me where I was supposed to be. As a new single mom, I was having a rough time coping with the reality of being alone doing this test. The receptionist set with me and consoles me , even though I’d just met her. I can’t thank the staff enough for being there for me!Rob Hedrick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedExperiencing a 5-6 day stay and just wanted to say the guys and gals on the 7th floor were absolutely amazing. Stacie, head night time nurse solved every issue, question, or problem that might arise. Greg, Jackie, Amber, and many others were amazing personal nurses. We could not have been taken better care of!!!Steve Garrett⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had open heart surgery at Research Medical Center on January 7th 2020. The staff was absolutely fantastic! All the nurses, whether I was in ICU or a regular room, were terrific and attentive to my needs. I highly recommend Research Medical Center.Erma Wolfe⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI’m treated for cancer at Sarah Cannon cancer clinic at research hospital. Facility is always clean. Processes are organized and dont waste time. Medical staff are professional, kind, and pay attention. Support services are easily accessible. Accounting/billing are patient and helpful.Laverne Boudreaux⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDr. Schneider was very proficient and cordial. He took the time to explain my problem and the next course of action needed. Great Job!William Boyd⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had an absolutely wonderful experience during my stay at Research Medical Center. From check-in to discharge. All staff was very attentive and I did not want for anything. I had an aortic valve replacement and was discharged the next afternoon. Feeling great.Jan Hawes⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe Nurse Navigator (Breast) was calm and sure of herself. I actually prayed I would have her again. Much to my surprise, she was with me during my 2nd biopsy! Her name is Karen and I really appreciate her. It made my day when her other patient didn’t show up and she came in my waiting area to wheel me off.Laura Haynes⭐️⭐️I had emergency surgery and was very new to hospital settings. I gave a LOT of thought before giving this review. The surgeons were professional, human, and kept us informed of what was taking place and why. The nurses I would say as a whole were overwhelmed/worked. After each shift they went over new duties with incoming nurses but once they were left to work on their own there were times my family had to go over medications or other things with them because more than once a medication was canceled but not put in system. Scary they still tried to give it to me. I think the thing that worried me most was the cleanliness. I am not a clean Freak but that being said I had open spine surgery and knew germs were a concern. After three + days of trash bends over flowing, my husband cleaning toilets and my daughter not being able to find me a clean gown – which all were told to staff and visible- We had a 70+ maintenance lady come in and do her best to clean my room. I felt so bad for her. After this, as staff came in it was stated that family was there 24 hours -my son was taking care of me at night – and all of a sudden trash binds were emptied and people came in daily to ask how service was. I kept thinking how blessed I am but also how sad that this is where we are.Janice Suddath⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Staff was excellent, caring and efficient. Handicapped parking was horrible- mainly because it was very unclear which entrance I should use. However staff immediately put me in a wheelchair and when leaving helped me to my car. They handled a frustrating situation wonderfully. I would definitely recommend to others. Just make sure you know exactly where you need to enter and park.Connie Porter⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedResearch took care of me…The whole Team was awesome… Everyone has great bedside manners they all were very attentive to my needs , there was nothing I ask for and I didn’t receive… Thank YouGary and MaryAnn White⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe hospital staff were very welcoming and helpful. They were also professional and attentive to my needs. I would highly recommend Research Medical Center to any potential patient.terri lawson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedEveryone is really nice. I always get the best care when going to get any kind of testing or my Dr. Appts everyone is amazing! No question goes unanswered, all options are explored, all procedures are explained.Amber Martin⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedStaff was great and very attentive. I felt very comfortable from start to finish and the communication from staff was excellent.Deborah Vogel⭐️⛔️ ER Not RecommendedMy brother in law was admitted to the ICU today. We met one of the rudest nurses I have ever encountered. My husband uses a walker and when I asked for a chair just so he could sit for a moment this nurse basically yelled at me and said he had no time to get me one. I told him I would be happy to get it, I wasn’t asking him to get it he just got even ruder!! He said maybe we could just leave and he would come and get us later. And then he said just putting that out there. Imagine being worried about your loved one and walking into that kind of animosity. He was a total jerkBecky Poulson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedExcellent hospital for low- intervention, natural childbirth. The nurses are very supportive, and the certified nurse midwives that deliver at the hospital are amazing. They made me feel very empowered and safe during my labor. The big, jetted tubs in the delivery rooms make labor easy and comfortable. The nurses are very supportive of breastfeeding and skin to skin contact with your newborn. Birthing at Research Medical Center is beautiful!Nicole Ashley⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAbout 3.5 weeks ago I was taken to the Children’s Psychiatric Facility (adolescent unit). I couldn’t thank the staff over there enough. They made me feel safe, cared for, and actually worth something. For day nurses, Latrice was my absolute favorite. She made me feel like I could get through anything and everything. For the night nurses, Tucker and Matt were such an incredible duo. I couldn’t thank them enough for what they did for me. The therapists over in the adolescent unit were incredible. A big thank you to Melissa. She is everything you could ever ask for in a therapist. Always made me feel calm and consoled me when I wasn’t discharged when I wanted to be. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all.Jerre Roller⭐️⭐️The personnel in the imaging department were uncaring and simply rude. They kept telling me to “pull up” or “just roll over” no matter how many times I told them that I couldn’t because of the pain I was in. They expected me to do everything as if I was just fine. I left there feeling very much worse than when I came in. I think that they had best remember that people aren’t there because they feel good.Kourtney Drake⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGreat experience with my outpatient surgery! Everyone was so helpful and knowledgeable from the intake/registration desk to the nursing staff in recovery to my surgical staff!Anne Johnson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe wait time in their emergency room was very short. Their nurses were kind and efficient. The doctor was knowledgeable and clear about his medical opinion of the diagnosis and treatment.Tiff Mob⭐️⛔️ ER Not RecommendedIf this company cause you emotional distress or discriminate against you RECORD THEM THEN SUE THEM ITS THAT SIMPLE. I DID AND GOT ALOT BACK! MAKE THEIR MISTAKE YOUR SETTLEMENT!!ITS THE NICER WAY FOR THEM TO GIVE U MONEY!!!!!Marilyn Kuntz⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI have always had great attention and treatment at Research Medical Center. This visit was no exception. The staff and doctors are caring, friendly, and uplifting.Tricia Wiley⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHad a baby via c section on 8/29. The anesthesiologist listened to all of my concerns from previous experiences and made a plan specifically for me! All of my nurses were so wonderful and took amazing care of me and baby! They were so kind and helpful!Siena Logan⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedTammy in mammography was wonderful. She took time to explain everything to me and made me feel so comfortable.Jeff Vogelmeier⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy wife and I were impressed with the care I received after having knee surgery. Our daughter was born there 22 years ago and had a terrible experience, and that sticks with you. The pre-op appointment was horrible, I waited an hour to get labs done, but no one made an excuse, they owned up to it and we all moved on, I always appreciate that. The day of surgery went exactly how it was explained. My surgery was on time. The room that I was put in was very nice, the care that I received from recovery to discharge was excellent. I wish I could remember everyone’s name because they are all excellent. The food was very good (I’m a chef). Flavorful. If I had one complaint it would be the coffee ( dark colored water). Thank you to everyone on the 6th floor therapy wing.Harley Tennison⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedExceptional care. Wonderful nursing and care staff. I would recommend this hospital without exception.Josh Leffert⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️My dad had surgery at Research in January with a 10-day hospital stay afterwards. The nursing staff was excellent on the oncology floor. Very attentive to his needs, very prompt to respond, and very friendly. My only complaint was the lack of security and an outdated hospital facility. The plumbing leaked in his bathroom and needed to be fixed, and nurses complained about the outdated computer system.zoi young⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedEveryone I came in contact with was truly caring. From the receptionist to the doctors. Through test and procedures I always felt at ease and in good hands. Thank you, you’ve made my upcoming surgery a bit less frightening.Marrion Harding woman of prayer⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThank you so much.. everyone was very pleasant to me, it made me feel good.David Vickers⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy experience was very positive, the hospital staff were courteous, and I felt very comfortable in knowing they were taking care of my needs.Jace -Sama⭐️⭐️⭐️The nurses were wonderful including the doctors. Tho what upset me was the lack of chairs for my room. When I was wheeled into my room after my surgery my grandparents didn’t have anywhere to sit! And the night was worse because the futon we asked for was basically a death trap for my grandma! We had asked earlier for a reclinder but they said they didnt have any at the momeny. They need to get either better futons or perhaps a sofa that can become a bed. Other then that the nurses and doctors were wonderful.Jackye Goldberg⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe nurses in the TAVR unit deserve even more than five stars. They were knowledgeable, vigilant , and caring: From Lindsey in my room who introduced me to the “boat urinal” (which must have been invented by a woman!), from Megan, to Shannon and Branetta; to Catrina who was a ray of sunshine each time she came to personally take my menu orders because I am a kosher, diabetic, low salt, and high blood pressure patient. The only sour note was a 4:00 AM visit from Ashley who took my labs in the most uncomfortable way. After she left, I had to get out of bed to shut off the lights, and close the curtain and the door that she had opened. I reported Ashley to Shannon who told me she was “new” and needed more training. Otherwise, this Research Medical experience was truly exceptional. Jackye GoldbergValerie Braxton – BGC⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had a ego test and the tech was so great, she was very sweet and professional.GE Washingtonwriter⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I was very worried when I went in. I lost my health insurance a few months ago and although I was not feeling well, I was more afraid of amassing a huge medical bill. Everyone was attentive and kind and took care of me even though I explained I couldn’t pay the full amount. They treated me with respect and took time to listen to me and plan the right medical tests to determine my issue. Thank you!Theresa R. Rainey⭐️⛔️ ER Not RecommendedThe ED doctor I saw was very arrogant and kept telling me that my blood pressure reading (which were high!) are just numbers and do not matter! I felt like he did not listen to me, but rather just wanted to deal with me and get me out of there. It was not a good experience at all! I will NOT go back there, EVER!Bridget Clark⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedEveryone was so kind and caring from the NICU providers to the nurses and all of the support staff. Overall great labor and delivery experience.Betty Pugh⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was very impressed with the speed and care i received in the er. The nurses an doctors were very caring and professional. I also appreciated the follow up call I received two days later. Thank you.harry johnson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This was my 2nd mylogram and I because of my 1st experience was given anesthes a so I wouldn’t have to go through the incredible pain the first one had given me. If I ever have a 3rd I’ll have to get either versed or lidocaine put in with the propanol. The anesthesiologist warned me about a little burn. Honestly, I felt like Jack Bauer of the 24 series was torturing me to get information. My attebding nurse after my procedire was very much on the job. That being said, all in all I would go back to research if I should ever need another one.Daniel Nickel⭐️⛔️ ER Not RecommendedOn 9_29 I was suffering from passing out due to blood loss from an operation 3 days prior at a different facility. Because of my symptoms the ambulance brought me to research medical center er since it was close to my house. Once there everything was horrible. I passed out 3 times while on the er table. The er doctor was not able to locate my bleeding, which was on my side at incision site to stop the bleeding. I was told that no surgeon at the hospital would touch me. Instead of finding the bleeding they just let me lay there and bleed while they tried contacting my surgeon. They finally got me into a ct scan and found that I had no internal bleeding. You would think at that point the er doctor would have taken of the binder and dressing to find the bleeding. Instead they just decided to admit me to a room up stairs in the hospital. When I got to the er my hemoglobin level was at 12. By the time I got to the room up stairs it was at 9.6. Finally at 6 pm, after 7 hours of being in this hospital and bleeding the entire time, 2 nurses came in and took off the binder and immediately found the spot I was bleeding from and managed to out a pressure bandage on it to slow the bleeding. This whole time I was not receiving any iv fluids. My wife kept asking them to do something and we just kept getting told they were waiting on orders from the doctor. Not only did they not give me if fluids, they would not let me drink just in case the doctor was going to order a test that required me to not drink. So 7 hours bleeding, no iv fluids, and nothing to drink. I ended up passing out 1 more time that evening when trying to go to the bathroom. They kept me in that room doing absolutely nothing until 5:30 the following night when they finally transferred me to my surgeon’s hospital. Once there my surgeon was able to put a good pressure bandage on and stop the bleeding. However, my hemoglobin had dropped all the way to 8.3 and due to the passing out symptoms they had to do a blood transfusion. This would not have been needed if 36 hours earlier the er doctor had just looked and atooped the bleeding. I am not a doctor, but I feel like that is probably one of the basics. If a patient is losing blood you should at least attempt to stop the bleeding. This was by far the worst er experience on one of the scariest days of my life. I woke up in a pool of my own blood and kept passing out. I never thought I would go to an er and basically be told we cant/wont do anything for you. You can bet that hospital will be charging me full price though just to tell me those things. While getting my ct scan I passed out. Before I did I was yelling for help and no one came. They just waited for the test to be over. I felt as if they all thought I was making up these symptoms. Worst experience and I would never recommend this er to anyone. Update—- I contacted patient relations with my concerns and this issue. They did absolutely nothing to try to make this right. They didn’t even acknowledge that there was an issue. All they did was send me a letter saying sorry for any issues “I feel” happened with their staff and in their facility. They truly do not care about their patients. Such a joke. I will never come back to this hospital for any reason and I will never recommend anyone else to either.judy ensminger⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDr Smith is great always helpful and positive Michelle is super helpful as always Shanna Willis⭐️⛔️ ER Not RecommendedOnly go here if you want to die and are already taking steps to end your life. They will help you in the psych er.Jacquelyn Spencer⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had a five-star experience from beginning to end. The front desk was very professional personable and Dr. Smith was excellent from beginning to end. Nursing staff was attentive, and the food was excellent.Robin Boyles⭐️⛔️ ER Not RecommendedResearch Medical Center discharged my 70 year old mother this evening with a hospital acquired leg wound, that was not present when she was admitted. They hide the wound from her family hoping we wouldn’t notice. They put a bandage on it, and clothing over it out of sight of family members. We will not be trusting her care to these people again if we can help it. We have taken her to a different hospital to rule out MRSA or some other infection since it’s a large ulcer and was not present 48 hours ago.Judy Bowe⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff was very professional and knowledgeable about the procedure I had done. It was a very pleasant experience as always when I come to Research Hospital!Vicki Bond⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️All the staff were very friendly and helpful to anyone who was there not just the patients. I took my youngest son there to have an EEG done and it only took about an hour.larry loftin⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was at RMC for two and a half days for testing to get information on a tumor/mass in my left lung. We did all the testing within one week and also got feedback on the results by the beginning of the following week. Appointments with the oncologist, pulmonologist and the surgeon were scheduled quickly and a treatment plan made. All the staff were very polite and efficient in providing services, medical and otherwise. We are waiting for a surgery date now and expect it to be scheduled soon. I highly recommend RMC for quality services and treatment.Linda Seal⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedVery friendly and professional. I’ve always been treated with respect and have been given realistic options for treatment and surgeries.DavidW⭐️⭐️⭐️I had a knee replacement surgery performed at this hospital, and it was performed by my orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Brian Kindred, formerly of Johnson County County, Kansas Orthopedic, moved his practice to KCMO, and is now at Research Orthopedic, and does his knee replacements only at Research Hospital. I was hoping to have it performed at St Lukes’ or even Olathe Medical Center, but he only does knee replacements at this hospital. The actual knee surgery was great, but the care by the Research Hospital staff, was dubious at best. We had to request and was granted a new nurse the first night in recovery, because she would not assist me getting up and going to the restroom, so my wife had to help. I nearly fell down, and my wife was very upset. We requested a new nurse, as she also failed to give me the requested pain medications, so it was a very miserable two-day recovery. The room was very old, unclean, and had loose electrical wires hanging out of the walls. I really trust Dr. Kindred, but this hospital would not be my choice to have the next procedure done.Grace Bridgeford⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe medical service was excellent from the time I checked in until I left.Babette Mitchell⭐️⭐️I’m not happy about my visit at Research MC. I was given the wrong info by two people within two days of my surgery. Dr. Cates’ nurse told me to be there at 8:30 for surgery at 10am. Those Research ladies told me to be there at 6:15 and the other lady told me to be there at 6:30 and that my surgery was scheduled for 7am. so I had to lay there waiting in the prep area for 4 hours before my surgery. That was not a good thing. Then the Dr. tells me he couldn’t insert the stents and they needed to look at the veins below the knee. So now I feel it was a waste of my TIME and MONEY along with the inconvenience of waiting for 4 hours before surgery. I hope I’m not charged by the hour for that wasted time. I can’t wait to see the bill. :-{ Next time I may go to Menorah Hosp for the next procedure. Have a good day.Daniel Jay⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedFirst time in 60 yrs I had to go under the knife, so a bit nervous. The process/experience could not have gone any better. ALL Staff was respectful, professional, yet with a touch of levity to keep my spirits up. I hope I never need another surgical procedure, but if I do, Research Medical will be my choice.Shawna Terry⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI went through the TIA clinic and was very impressed with everyone. It is very important that the patient has an excellent experience and I certainly did. The Doctor was great!. He was kind, informative and supportive. All the nurses and tech’s were very helpful and kind. I was very impressed with the nurse from the clinic that set everything up for me and took me to every test. The area that I stayed when I wasn’t taking a test was very professional, but personal as well. Overall great experience if you have to do that.John Carmichael⭐️⭐️⭐️The current problem I am experiencing is chronic pain in my neck, focused on the left side. After many doctor visits in different specialties, nothing has been fixed, and the neck hurts just as bad as it did when the situation began. After 6 weeks of Physical Therapy, I have been suggested to take yoga. If the well executed PT did not work, yoga (which I explored) will not work. It appears I am going to have this chronic pain for the rest of my life. Effort was made but no difference was achieved. This does not elevate my confidence in the RMC. Little empathy was shown to the issue I am experiencing. I guess they are judging that my pain is not that bad and that I am a weak person.Diana⭐️⭐️⭐️I had a Night Nurse Carter and add a nurse Michelle they were great. There were several other issues not so great.Jay Waller⭐️⭐️⭐️My feelings are mixed. We were told to be at the out patient center at 5 am. no one showed up to open the doors until 6 am. The person to open the doors sat in the office until 6:20 am. I found some of the nursing staff inattentive or down right non- helpful one nurse I found to be arrogant and condescending. The only bright spot was one young man from food service who when I sat up brought my tray to the other side of the bed and sat the tray and bed stand in front of me. The others from food service announced their presence sat they tray down and left. I was also upset about the fact that I was told my daughter and husband could not wheel me down to the Starbucks to get a cup of hot coffee, the reason was I had a capped intermittent needle in my hand. I have never been in a hospital where family could not wheel a family member somewhere in the hospital. I hospital staff nurse for 20 years before retiring. Poor excuse. I made a decision to go home after 24 hours and should of stayed another day.Charles Reeves⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedFrom caregivers to therapy and medical staff, could not be happier with my stay at Research. Great attention to detail in rehab facility. Quality food service with good variety. Highly recommended, absolutely no complaints.Jon Bacon⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedCheck in was quick, easy and friendly. Quickly got in for my appt and was treated in a compassion
