REX Hospital Reviews

Before you go to REX Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Raleigh emergency room think.

Sheikh Tanver Please avoid this emergency room unless you don’t have any options. I would avoid dying waiting in this waiting room then trying to get help from another hospital. Worst emergency medical treatment experience ever. I’ve been here waiting for more than 5 hours and yet I’m waiting. People will die in this emergency waiting room but will not get treated. I wish i went to another hospital instead. Please avoid this hospital when you have an option. Else feel free to die in their waiting area.Kelly Bradshaw⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAwesome service! The nurses were amazing and the doctors are genuinely concerned with your health! I drive out of my way to go here!Shelby Gibson My husband and I were here Jan 13th at 10:20pm for 2 cyst that may be infected and my his high fever and extreme pain. We got checked in pretty quickly, but by 3am he still wasn’t seen and everyone that was in there before we came and a few people that came after we arrived had already been seen and some had been discharged. Around 5am he got his Blood pressure checked again. and that was it. the wait room cleared again. By 7:30am there was a total of 3 people left in the waiting room and he still had not been seen. He still had an extremely high fever and was in an intense amount of pain. we were never seen. So we left took our child to school and went to another hospital. A few years ago someone died in the waiting room of a Durham hospital because the staff did not believe their situation wasn’t important. On Jan 2, 2020 a woman in Milwaukee died after waiting hours in the emergency department waiting room when she went to seek help at an urgent care instead. It is absolutely insane to wait 9hrs and only have is blood pressure taken. We watch the ER empty twice! We’d seen the same people come in AND be discharged!Veronica King I was given misinformation at the hospital. I had a fever of 102, they said 99.1. The elderly male that handled benefits was extremely condescending and made fun of my scenario. They said simple virus, that just needs to run its course. I had to beg for an Albuterol inhaler, they didn’t believe that I had a history of asthma and did not check my charts until I insisted. This is how people die.Barbara Trevathan⭐️⭐️Mother arrived EMS with chest pain and shortness of breath. EMS brought her to ER lobby and then they carried her for labs, xray and returned to ER lobby . About 45 mins later came to get her to place her in a bed because the labs showed she was in heart failure. A PA came in and asked why we came to Rex , her cardiologist doctor does not practice here. So I politely said she was in chest pain. I was told her heart Dr. Only goes to Wake Med. She retired from Rex, her oncologist ied Rex. Her primary care goes to rex. Sorry we made your job difficult.Jay Brown The worst ER in the Triangle. Receptionist was rude. I waited for over an hour waiting for bloodwork all while seeing others come in and leave. I have congestive heart failure and was short of breath as well. When I inquired as to why I was being passed over, I simply got a rude answer so I got up and left NEVER TO RETURN!!Lynn Cain Actually ZERO!!! I have dysautonomia (pots), arrhythmias. Yes this condition is unpredictable and not well known. They didn’t show empathy except my ER nurse, the ER Dr disregarded her and my Drs on call nurse concerns. My thyroid levels was also low.Alow.Alot going on in my body but sent home and didn’t get to see cardiologist on call. Plus valet list my keys but Eric over valet paid for locksmith, reprogram of keyfob. But the ER and security, TERRIBLE. Will be making formal complaint. Still not feeling well and had to drive 1 1/2 back home making stops from illness.ZENA CHASE Ridiculous wait, unprofessional and rude staff, poor triage! They need time management, skills. Triage & assessment, & diversity training! I’d give negative stars if it were possible.Matthew Sims You will die of old age in this waiting room. When I went to the nurse to make sure they knew I was still here, she wanted to argue about whether I’d been waiting 2 hours or 3 hours like I don’t know what time I walked through the door.Rachael Green worst ER experience i’ve ever had! do not recommendTaylor Greene⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️My first experience here was with a kidney stone. I came in pretty early and had to wait about 10 minutes for the triage. It took about another 20-30min to get relief in the back. The doctor said he expected the stone to pass in a day. Fast forward two weeks later. Still no stone. But surprise, another attack. I fly into the ER and this time was actually a lot better. Nobody is waiting so I go straight to triage and to a bed. The doctor greets me at the bed. Insane right? Great doctor, very much enjoyed him reviewing my notes from last time. I eventually get squared away. My only complaint is that the nurse seemed to forget about me. No buzzer was left in the room. I was still in pain after the first pain medication was administered. The nurse reported that she’d check back to see if I was still at a 10 but 10, 15, 20, 30 minutes pass, and I’m still at a 10 pain. Luckily the doctor came by, heard me trying to do controlled breathing and manage the pain, and wrote up another pain medication order. Once that hit, I was given an IV and things got better. Besides a little off-nursing, my experience was generally good. And no, still haven’t passed the stone yet. Free advice: Drink more water than what you’re drinking. You don’t want kidney stones…Oni Patel You’ll mostly likely die in waiting room before you get treated! Ohh BTW one star is an insult of a star!KEY HARDNETT I wish there were an option for no stars. I took my mother here for her CHF with shortness of breath. We waited three and a half hours and STILL WAS NOT SEEN BY A PROVIDER. Many of the staff members were rude and seem to discourage accompanying family members from coming back with their loved one. As stated in another review, staff seem unhappy with their job and it shows through their lack of care with their work performance. I even saw a staff member draw blood on a patient with no gloves. I reported my concerns to the ER manager via patient relations and she seemed to only want to make excuses for her staff instead of ensuring that patients coming through the ER received the best possible care. She showed an extreme lack of concern for the wait time for my mom who has known heart problems. THREE HOURS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE wait time for someone with known heart problems. I will never take my mom back to this ER!!!! This type of behavior and lack of care about ones job makes me embarrassed to work for UNC. I am glad that I do not treat the patients that I come in contact with like how they did my mom on this visit.malik webb Me my wife been in this hospital for 5 and a 1/2 hours And she still doesn’t know what’s wrong with her she has to put on her clothes and walk out This is by far the worst hospital I Have ever been toChristian Enrique⭐️⭐️Long waits, rude nurse and again i saw nurses on their cell phone. Very unprofessional. Triage floors were dirty and windows were full of dustRachel Vradenburgh Wait time is excruciatingly long even though there are not many people here. At three hours currently. Staff is rude to each other and don’t seem to like their jobs. Could be so much better.malika maazi very long waiting time rude nursesColton Rice⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedVery kind and quickChrystal Hassel They would be getting a 0 if that were an option.Barbara Jane Elliott Parks Watson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThey helped so much very compassion for there patientsCourtney Smith⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was brought here in an ambulance from my hotel when I was experiencing excruciating pain that I thought to be a heart attack (turned out it was my gallbladder with radiating symptoms to my chest). The hospital staff was GREAT! They were so compassionate and gave me meds to control the pain while they worked out a diagnosis. I appreciate how knowledgeable they are because I was actually misdiagnosed in Asheville for this condition! They offered to do the surgery but I didn’t want to have it done away from home (Asheville). So the doctor was really great with giving me a comprehinsive document of what i can do to prevent flareups in the meantime (and I did end up having the surgery a few months later). What really blew me away was when I was discharged at midnight the attending doctor ordered me a cab and covered the cost since I was taken from the hotel without my wallet (somehow the paramedics grabbed my laptop bag that looked like a purse, instead of my purse with my wallet. Luckily I keep my backup/2nd copy of my drivers license in there so I did have ID). I also appreciate I was able to call in with my insurance info since I had nothing on me. The hospital was super understanding and made everything easy for me. The hospital is also really clean and I didnt have a wait when I came in. Wonderful team of nurses and doctors, I would definitely recommend this ER.Emma Yow Totally unhelpful and rude. We went somewhere else.Aaron W⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWould get my gallbladder removed again if i could.
