South Shore Hospital Reviews

Before you go to South Shore Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this South Weymouth emergency room think.

Abhijit Mazumder⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy wife had severe eye allergy and we went over to South shore ER. Check-in was quick and she was attended within 5 mins. Nurse was very professional and caring. When our nurse worked on another case, someelse stepped in seeing we were waiting. I am very happy to see such professionals.Christie Bavineau⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe took my 18 month old to the pediatric Er and they were kind and accommodating. Not only did they treat our son amazing and immediately, but they brought him a DVD player, food, and Gatorade for my husband who was also sick. They continued to check in on him and made sure he was healthy and happy before we left. Best pediatric Er we have ever been to.John The nurses in the emergency room seem to really not like their job. There are very nasty mannered people. They should not be called caretakers. Fourth experience with my 93 yr old father. The saga continues. On 9/08/19 my father returned because of a UTI, confusion, a swollen abdomen and pain. The emergency room sent him home after two hours saying they could not find anything wrong with him. The following day the nurse at his day center egoed the same concerns I had and suggest not to send him bad to that hospital ever again.John F Preston Both my wife and son have been admitted within the past two weeks (unrelated issues) and in both instances the ER either did not provide adequate treatment or the use of diagnostic tools to identify the actual issue. No x-ray on my wife with a history of back problems (including spinal fusion) and would not administer an IV on my son in order to provide medication for an impacted bowel (he is autistic and as such getting him to voluntarily take medication orally is extremely difficult – we usually have to resort to suppositories to administer medication). In my opinion this facility lacks the requisite desire to treat their patients. I would recommend driving into Boston if you have any issues.Christian Baker TERRIBLE ER! I’ve been to the Brockton Hospital ER and Sturdy Memorial and both places were quick and efficient. I brought a family member to South Shore and we spent 6 hours for a few tests. Patients visibly bleeding on stretchers in hallways, just awful. After talking to other people, I’ve heard similar and far worse stories. Go somewhere else if at all possible, I know I’ll neber be back.Luke B⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWhile there is typically a wait for Non Life threatening conditions due to the fact they are a lvl 2 trama center and have to prioritize between an average of a 100+ patients in the ED alone and 400+ in the hospital. (South Shore Hospital is the first and only verified and designated Level II Trauma Center south of Boston, including the Cape and Islands. This means we are equipped to handle all critical injuries, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.)(Ambulances transporting injured patients follow the Massachusetts Trauma Field Triage and Point of Entry protocol. This outlines that critically injured and ill patients are transported to the closest Trauma Center rather than to the nearest hospital, which may not be equipped to treat such conditions. Stable and less critically injured patients from falls, car crashes and sports injuries also benefit from receiving care at a Trauma Center, because if needed, they will receive care by the same trauma experts and services.)So to sum that up off their site the law requires them to not turn away critical care patients regarless of your wait time for a bandaid in comparison. IMO The care provided is in my oppinion only second to bmc (where i also was treated for a life threatening trama)or somewhere in town of the same caliber. I would recommend their off site Urgent Care 5 mins away to anyone who is in need of immediate non life threatening care. You can call ahead and even make an appt. Recieving the same level of care as you would at The ED but in a more calm personalized setting. So unless your on a stretcher coming in as a trama patient, expect a wait period that you may wish to of avoided and its not the staffs fault you chose not to utilize SSH Medical Centers Urgent Care ctr in Norwell. As a patient in both the SSH ED & the SSH URGENT CARE, I have never had a complaint as a patient at either location and I feel most these reviews, if you remove the hatred of the wait time and needing someone to blame for their own choice of where to recieve care, ie the staff. There is little to nothing here worth reading. Just my 2 cents.Victoria Smaldone The emergency room at this hospital is unacceptable. The department is disorganized and patient care is horrible. Many of the nurses on staff were preoccupied with their lipgloss and gossip. It is absolutely absurd how long you have to wait to see a doctor when you are in excruciating pain. My father ended up qualifying for the ICU based on his injuries and pain… and he had to wait in the waiting room for two hours before being taken back to a room and another three hours to see a doctor after a potential life threatening accident. He was never hooked up to any machines to monitor his breathing or his heart while waiting on a doctor. He was also not given as much as an Ibuprofen or Advil to help with the pain. Four days later and he was just discharged. We had a true medical emergency and were clearly not treated with any sense of urgency. I am disgusted with how my father was treated by this ER staff. If you have a true emergency I suggest going to a different hospital. However, once he was admitted the patient care was phenomenal.Britney Vicente I’ve never felt so uncomfortable…. I’m here now and they are just plain ignorant and ignore there patients I’m next to the desk don’t even have a room for 2 hours now and I can here them talking about there patients ..i haven’t even seen a doctor in 2 hours and it’s not that busySoul Lashay The nurses and patient care is extremely poor! You’d have faster more efficient service if you were to fall out in the middle of nowhere!! I refuse to pay a co-payment of one-hundred dollars after waiting 3hours before deciding to walk out of the ER..Alicia McMahon I just called from out of town to check on a family member and was placed on hold for almost 10 minutes! I understand they are busy but then they should get a better system/plan when answering a call.Stephanie D Nurses at the emergency room are absolutely disrespectful. The nurses would spread confidential information about other patients loudly and would scoff or laugh if a patient had a minor issue. What a pathetic employee system. They have no respect for the privacy of patients at all.James Pin I don’t know about the rest of hospital but emergency is a jokeKurt Livingston So disorganized and poor communication. It took them over 10 hours to do a urinalysis and a CT scan. That’s just pathetic oh by the way it was Monday night from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
