Before you go to St. Alexius Medical Center, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Hoffman Estates emergency room think.
Jeff HousehThe service here really declined over the last couple years. Staying the night at the hospital used to be at least tolerable, now, the service here is unbelievably bad and the experience is just god awful. The nurses are rude and have attitude. They forgot to give me breakfast and lunch and I had no one to remind because they’re all doing their own thing and ignoring the patients and would rather be chatting and gossiping with each other and talking about which Jimmy Johns sandwich is their favorite. I don’t know where the professionalism went at this hospital but it’s definitely not there anymore. They forgot to give me my sleeping medication and the medication I take every morning. The doctors I had to see for each medical test I took would take several hours each even showing up to check in on me. The whole process should have taken 4 hours at most, and it used to be that way. But this time the whole process took 46 hours. This used to be a nice hospital, now it feels like going to a hospital on the south side of Chicago. I have no idea what happened to this place but I will never check in to the emergency room here ever again.Nabil HermezIf they have nagative 000 star they deserve it Come only before you die and they will take care of you and they are only one in this area don’t have any competitor they don’t care about the patienceMayra Montano⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I am surprised by the negative opinions, I had my baby two weeks ago and they treated me in the best way, from emergencies to nicu, the doctors who made me the caesarean section were very kind as well as the nurses, I felt a lot of support because I was nervous, I They discharged and now my baby is in nicu enjgual the nurses are very friendly and take good care of him especially the nurse Daniel, Lina, Miriam and others who do not remember the name 🙂JoAnne FrancoRidiculous waiting time for elderly in pain. My mother suffered with abdominal pain for hours. They could do nothing.Brett ConleyI wouldn’t recommend using the ER here. The staff who checked me in entered my name incorrectly. I was in a lot of pain needed to lay down on the floor in the waiting room. I wasn’t disrupting anybody but once the nurse came to get me she scolded me for laying down and said I have to sit in the chairs. I had a lot pain in stomach and laying down made it feel a little bit better. She clearly didn’t care. Never going back. I was warned about this place. I should have listened.Maite GarciaNot a good experience at St. Alexius. My 2 year old daughter had been sick for 2 weeks with fever on and off. I had taken her to her pediatrician, but they told me she had no infections that is was only a viral infection. Her fever came back again at the middle of the night at 103.2 and she was crying in pain, i decided to take her to st alexius ER. I had given her ibuprofen to calm down her fever. When we arrived at the hospital, she had no fever and was calmed down due to me giving her ibuprofen. When the doctor came he looked rushed and just looked like he didn’t care. He checked her ears and throat very quickly and said no signs of infection. The moment we got home(we live 5 mins away) she started crying again and being fussy i checked her temperature and had a fever again. She was crying non stop like if she was in pain. I knew something was wrong. I called her pediatrician. Told her my daughter was sick, told her we were just in the ER but was told only had viral infection, But that i knew something was wrong with my daughter. They told me to bring her in. I took her to her pediatrician and they told me she had a double ear infection on her ears. I waa really upset. The doctor in the ER seemed not to care and was in and out within 5 minutes or less.Alexandria SmithThe absolute worst. People are nice but waiting 5 hours for a simple CT scan is obsurd. I would rather drive an hour to another facility than come here again. Do not go here if you have a choice.Laura GentileWorse experience ever! Let’s start off by my husband and I going in two days before I delivered. I was feeling contractions and thought I was leaking. Inwas having contractions 7 min apart. I was sent home by the doctor on call telling me unless I can’t talk, breath or walk dont come back in. I was so mad. Two days later: came in with stronger contractions I could still ” breathe, walk, talk” this time a different doctor came in and I was haveing contractions 5 min apart and was finaly sent to a room. I told the nurse I didnt want any blood tests just the IV and an epidural. I was told that Illinois had a mandatory blood test. I looked it up there was none. Nothing is mandatory. I was in serious pain three hours later asked for the epidural and had to wait another hour to get one. The doctor who did the epidural did it wrong and hit my spine the first time all I heard was woops I hit bone. Great! Then proceded to stab me again and walk out. The epidural worked for about an hour and gave out. I told my nurse that I could feel my catheter and I could move my legs. They told me that is normal. This was my third child trust me it’s not. Skip 3 hours from that. I told my husband my water broke and to get a nurse no one came for at least a half hour. Now to the delivery: 11:00 i started feeling so much pain I finaly couldn’t breath, talk or move. My husband called for the nurse and she came in 20 min later saying sorry we were busy, looked down and my daughter was already coming out. She a Left to get my doctor that took them 15 min and another 4 min to my doc to suit up they almost missed delivering my child. Now for the bills: The hospital sent a bill for my new baby that totaled over 2,000 for a room of her own ummmm she never left mine. Bill’s for me: epidural yeah fighting that. Blood tests said I didnt want any looks like they took it out of my iv when I was sleeping. Not cool. If they dont take some.charges off I’m fileing a law suit. Will keep everyone posted.Diane O’NeilEvery single time we have been here over the years, the emergency room has been the worst. It doesn’t seem to matter who is running it. This location is horrible. Don’t go to this emergency room. We have been sitting here for hours. We should have gone to Northwest Community Hospital!Praying Panther_KWorst ER service. Waited more then 4 hours for my daughter stomach pain. People are going to ER for if they r in real pain not for fun. Seems like Staff and hospital don’t care for their patients. Registration desk staff were extremely rude.Vm Phil⭐️⭐️Staff is good. Billing though, completely messed up. My son went into the ER for the evening. Got billed for a CT scan we never had, an ambulance transfere that we never had or requested. I sorted out the ambulance stuff with the company but we are still getting bills for services we didn’t get. This is entering fraudulent territory.Opal Nox⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️helped me in a timely manner and I feel a lot better. only thing I would change is that you kinda feel like a transactionStephanie JurekThis emergency room is awful. We have been here for 4 hours. Still not admitted. Now they want me to pay $800 for an ambulance ride across the street. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere but here.rita bellowsI was told by Paramedics To leave my car. And they would insure I have a ride.. The er stuff is rude and very unprofessional. First of all I came at 11pm and wasn’t seen til 4am. They call folks before me that was here for just an hour or less!!!….I was having breathing problems and them ppl call folks who was on their phones laughing and singing 1st!!!!!!!..Worst experience every!!!!!…ER IS TREBBLE BUT THE OTHER BUILDINGS ARE FINE!!!..FIRED AND HIRE ALL NEW STAFF!!!jose galvezEverything was going ok but then the discharge lady was really rude and gave us attitude. I was in need of a wheelchair and she said your fine so I had to limp my way out in pain.Vanessa Gtz⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I have mix emotions about this hospital, I’ve been to this ER a few times, and for the most part I’m satisfied with the promptness and care we are given.Angela Serbest⭐️⭐️If it wasn’t for having luckily seen a good doctor, they’d get 1 star. The floor in our ER room has clearly not been mopped in a long time. All they do it seems is take out the garbage. Their computer system is ancient and so behind. They can’t send a prescription to your pharmacy. They have to print it out, like back in 1997. It prints out reports that look like a bad Word document. All of their equipment is sooooo old including the beds. The place itself hasn’t been updated since it was built. The doors to the rooms only open all the way or close all the way; can’t leave just a bit open. There is only one blazing light and it is right over your face. The nurses and techs are awful. Maybe they wouldn’t be so bad if they weren’t understaffed, but every hospital is understaffed and are not this bad. They are fake-nice enough, but they are either sloppy, inexperienced, slow, tired, fed-up or stubborn. Our whole crew left much to be desired. After the shift change a rather large male nurse replaced our previous nurse and he was surprisingly decent but kept dropping stuff on the filthy floors. Its too bad they are the only hospital around, really. We only come here because there isn’t any other choice. Expect to be here 7 hours or so if you need radiology etc. Takes 1 hour 15 minutes just to get discharged. Basically, don’t go unless your dying. And then, go somewhere else.Mo KhanThis damn hospital is a scam and needs to be held accountable for ripping people off left and right and not providing services the way it should be. Emergency room wait time over 6-8 hours for my father whose having intense chest pains and blood pressure over 220/130!! Other reviews clearly show there is a problem and it’s time legal action is taken.Kristin BrownTheir financial assistance department is horrible. No one returns my calls. Their letters requesting more information have no return address or incorrect or contact information and have missing information. They will not answer my questions, tell me I can leave a message and weeks later no one has called me back.Diamond DeniseThey almost always tell you it’s nothing. Brought my child here for months with concern about his breathing they told me it’s nothing. Took him to UIC medical center and a follow up to a specialist and he ended up needing a surgery. Same thing with my birth here. Told them I was in labor they told me I was probably not in labor and I was very much in active labor as my water broke at home. Told them my child would be here soon they told me no I can relax he wouldn’t be here for hours, and he came after being here just a few hours. They don’t listen to their patients as if we don’t know our own bodies.Al Dolewski2.3 Stars for a hospital is unacceptable I’ve been here for a colonoscopy they screwed it up my wife’s better for emergency finger they screwed it up and all my brothers in there and they can’t figure things out I live in a neighborhood for 30 years the the characters hospital has really changed it’s about the money did the patients I recommend going to Northwest Community or Elmhurst Hospital please read this before you go inJoseph Insyxiengmay⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI think Brenden was sick 2 years in the hospital Michelle Fox⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy three experiences here have been great. Nice staff and kind, professional doctors.eddie ortizThe worst place ever to go when sick!!!!!!!!! PEOPLE YOU ARE BEING PAID TO SERVICE US IN THE WORST TIME OF OUR LIVES!!!! My wife has juvenile diabetes and came in with 103.9 fever…we have been here for 2hrs and counting.( Some Advice!!!) Hire Nurses that want to help people not like some nurses maggie in front desk. I get that the Emergency room is busy but when you come in to a hospital you expect some common courtesy and respect. I would really like someone to contact me asap with my problem. Thank you.Cadie GarciaWorse place ever!!! They make you wait for hours and they really don’t care about your health. They are just plain on rude. Wouldn’t recommend this hospital at all!!!hava gjinikaWiting 5 hours to get worse and worse …thats what this hospital calls emergency… OMG …god blesses everybody not to have an emergency and end up in this hospital because you will wait till you dieStacy DevereauxThese Doctors in this hospital are terrible. My daughter has a genetic disease that causes severed chest pain. She goes to the ER when her attacks happen and prescribed pain meds don’t work. The refuse to treat her for pain . So why even register her and put her in a room making her sit for hours. Why even take her in .. OH WAIt because they have to. Then they run all kinds of tests . Blood work, ekg, xrays ect. Same tests they always do so they can rack up the darn bill . They do everything except help her. Her pain specialist is the one who told us if she needs to go to the ER to go with it they should be able to treat her and give her some other pain medicine through IV. The doctor in this ER flat out refused and The nurse tells me that they don’t have to deal with me if they don’t want to because my daughter is an adult even though my daughter gave permission and on top of that refused to call her pain specialist or any information or to verify anything. I will be happy if we never have to step foot in that ER again because all those doctors care about is racking up their hospital bills And treating patients so terribly.laura starksWhat a Dump! I cannot even believe this is a hospital. It was filthy, understaffed and the staff they had was inattentive. Two bathrooms for the 60 plus people waiting there. One was out of order. The other was FILTHY, masks, garbage, paper on the floor. Toilet paper holder empty, paper towel dispenser broken so paper towels were laid out on the baby changing table. Corporate medicine at it’s finest. The holding area for vital signs and blood drawing were also dirty, worn down not private and overall staff in these areas were insensate. I left after two hours–without seeing a doctor.Touseef Munawar⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER Recommendednice ,excellent services,dr.assad seemn,,a teacher more than a doctor, told issue with excellent details and operated my wife, she is fine,dr.susan orhan and dr.seema ahmed treated my wife very well ,,,,,professional team with excellent servicescretepilotMy mother came in at 78yrs of age… Finally treated at age 83??? What the heck??? Not the slightest bit of sense of urgency. Nobody even seems to move with ambition or purpose. None of the check in personnel Moved with any sense of purpose. Some of them were even watching television. I’ve watched several elderly folks sitting in the waiting room experiencing pain. No comfort or assistance has been offered a provided. What the hell is this place?Shirley JohnsonThe ER is very dirty. We have been waiting 2 hours and so far nothing. But the condition of this hospital is awful. Filthy… not happy and would NEVER go backJulie Bennett⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedCame into the ER in August with my dying baby in my arms; we were immediately brought back and had 8 nurses and minimum 2 doctors with as at all times until my son was stable. I cannot be thankful enough for this hospital! Thank you St. Alexius. Thanks to you, I still have my child; and he’s incredibly happy and healthy! You’d never even know he was ever sick! I will say though; one PICU intensivist was less than friendly at one point… but I’ll take it as long as she helps my baby!Ines Janssen⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe stayed at pediatrics department for 3 nights. Staff there is wonderful -nurses, doctors, pcts, cleaning ladies, room service, volunteers… everyone was very professional and was trying to make our stay the best possible. They all used sanitizer every time they’d come in the room and cleaning crew came to clean the room every day so I don’t understand reviews saying that it’s dirty place.Tina Rommel⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I am very surprised at all of the bad reviews. I was there all day yesterday with my daughter. The ladies at the front desk were very approachable and took care of everyone that came in. They were dealing with people that can’t speak English to people that came in right after having a stroke. Its got to be a very tough job for them. My only complaint was that our nurse didn’t get the meds to my daughter when the Dr. asked her to. And when listening to the conversation outside the room – he let her know he wasn’t happy.Violeta Payne⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER Recommendedi am sorry for all the people that had bad experience with this Hospital . my experiences with my and my daughter’s health care has being 5 stars ALWAYS.Enisa MehmedagicDo not recommend this hospital !!!!Victoria Miller⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDon’t listen to unhappy reviews – people are going to be upset bc they didn’t get treatment right away when there’s a triage. You have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes medically with other patients, so your “wait time” is not dependent on what it looks like/how many people are there. No one feels good and everyone wants to be seen this very second – remember that.Nicole Rossio⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Wonderful staff and very good at explaining whats going on with you. I had Beatrice as a nurse Sweet lady who works hard and Christoper mcswaini as my doctor very gentle and kind both of these people truly need an awards for really caring for their patients the right way. I just wanted to say thank you for helping me.R s⭐️⭐️I had surgery here, I loved my doctor and most of the nurses. My night nurse was so awful, there are no words to really explain her. I feel as if she was torturing me on purpose, my pain was so awful and I couldn’t stop throwing up and she would just stand there and look at me. When she walked in the second night, I checked myself out because I couldn’t be there one more night with her. I really wish this hospital would send out a exit survey, I think it would definitely keep staff on their toes.mary cordova⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDoctors are very good but nurse in front desk are so badCarlos Dossantos⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI got my blood work done here. Everyone was nice . The bloodwork was done fast. I get all my tests here.Julie GoldbergerA horrible establishment with terrible staff. Place is filthy was left unattended and in pain for hours. Place is filthy and surprised it’s still open. I would highly encourage anybody to pay more money to go elsewhere or travel farther. Do not trust them with your babies or elderly. Place is a death trap.virginia brown⭐️⭐️⭐️The hospital has rude doctors they don’t have any respect for your privacy and you will wait hours. The hospital is my choice of a hospital over a few close to me. They do have great careYasmin KavareThe er is a joke. They told my sister she was okay to leave while she was having a continuous high fever. And then the pediatrics upstairs has a nurse named Karen that was a low life, disgusting person. The worst nurse I’ve ever met. If your not personable then don’t go into health care, have a stay at home job where you don’t give off your nasty vibes. She needs to be fired , don’t know how she became a nurse.Lauren Bolger⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI love the nurses in pediatric and mother/baby. Have been admitted/had my kids admitted a couple of times and am very happy with the care we’ve received. Very attentive staff that communicates very well. They are really thorough with administering meds too; there’s a system so they scan the patient and the meds they are giving to keep track. Been to the ER twice before being admitted and the process is NOT fast. But from the front desk to the medical staff, they’re very professional, calm, collected, and organized even when it’s very busy. They’re thorough and caring so I’m glad they take their time with their patients, ordering the tests that need to be done and carefully deciding how to treat. Just wish they had more beds!Oisha MohiraI don’t recommend this placeMarina Balsamo⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I had a good experience. The wait time was very, very long. I understand that you prioritize patients who need to be seen first, however, how could you know exactly who needs to be seen first when NO ONE asks for pre existent conditions before you are seen inside the treatment area? This information should be asked at arrival BECAUSE it’s one of the key pieces of information that helps doctors to know whether the person needs to be seen sooner than others – Because pre existent conditions are a risk factor. For example, I have Crohn’s, Asthma and Diabetes, which makes me a high risk patient, so I should be seen sooner than someone who is in the same condition as I am, but without any pre existent conditions. However, there was no way to know this — Because no one asked. It’s not part of the protocol to ask when first admitting a patient. In my humble opinion, this is wrong, and needs to change. Other than that, I want to say that the staff was wonderful. The nurses, the tech and the doctor. The nurses and tech were very kind and patient and very empathic. I was very comfortable through all of it. The doctor was very polite, and explained things thoroughly, answering all of my questions. This is an amazing trait for a doctor to have because usually doctors just go straight to the point and want to discharge the patients as soon as possible. Doctor Christopher Mcswane stood there and waited until I had no more questions to discharge me, and took his time explaining everything. Thank you so much, Doctor.Jameela ManneyBy far the worst hospital ever. Waiting room is extremely slow. The nurses are rude the doctors have no compassion. Bathrooms stay nasty don’t quit understand why. Would rather go to Chicago hospitals than to fool with this one.The Loving Bag Lady AMS⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThey are awesome! My Grandmother was in the ICU. They where right on it.Mariela DimitrovMy husband was in a huge pain passing kidney stones and they kept him for 3 hours in the waiting area. Worst experience ever! Would not come here again!Jennifer BlairJozeny or josey is an ultrasound tech. I was wheeled down to get an ultrasound by her. As i waited in the ultrasound room i heard a woman talking abd laughing for almost an hour! I finally stel outside to see what was going on. I waited an HOUR! WHILE SHE WAS TALKING AND LAUGHING. I told her how long i had been waiting and she said thats not true. Yes Josey it !!!!! Too bad you were laughing and talking the whole time. REDICULOUS. AND NO APOLOGYNoelle PepitoneI had the worse birthing experience ever! The lactation nurses all told me different things, my regular nurses were rude and hours late, I wasn’t offered “Mommie And baby pictures” and I had a prescription for a pain killer because of my spinal disease and a nurse called social services on me! The hospital was dirty and over crowded. What a waste! And such a shame for a Catholic hospital. I’m carbolic as well and will be having my next baby at Resurretion.Bob KalaniI have chest pain and my doctor told me to go to ER since he think it is an emergency. Has been waiting for two and half hour and they don’t even take it seriously. They go based on first come first serve and don’t go by urgency. They are busy but have only 3 doctors and have 4 hour wait. So if anyone need serious help call 911 and go to different hospital.Irene Chelminski⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDoctors are excellent, communicate very well with the patient’s family, explain what is going on, what they plan on doing and why. The nurses in ICU are outstanding!Jennifer CuboneI was born here but if i could give one star i would the er staff do there job half ass or not at all they sent my dad home on several occasions when he shouldnt have been staff are rude and poor at service and communication If you have a choice i wouldnt even recommendNour SThe er is a joke. Poor customer services, ladies in front desk of behavioral unit have no idea about anything.I was looking in to information about Residential Treatment in The new Foglia treatment center, and i was given a brochure out, in the parking lot, like figure it out youself!! Vey poor marketing! So disappointed! This is not the way to treat potential clients ….Kevin Berres⭐️⭐️⭐️It sucks I had to give a 3 because the drs and nurses and techs are awesome but the cafe and the people that take your order on the phone when your sick are rude plain and simple. If I ran a hospital I would want to make sure that every aspect of my hospital was professional and curtiace.Brad MoratillaWow this place has set a record on waiting time, got here around 4 pm and ended up leaving at 10 pm without being seen by a doctor. I lost faith after a women told me she had been waiting since 1 pm and she hadn’t been seen either. The ladies at the front desk said I would still be charged for the blood work they did 5 hours earlier. This place is a joke.Tammy CarperWalked into the ER and it was filthy and the lady at desk was so rude I turned around and walked out.Nobody Special3 and a half hour wait in ER and wasn’t that busy. Kids running around screaming like animals and security/staff didn’t care. Bathroom was disgusting also. As I did, a few others walked out after over a 3 hour wait.Manu PatelAsked their Fax # from their web support page 10 days back ..
