Before you go to St. Joseph’s Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Riverview emergency room think.
Gail KI spent 4.5 hours waiting in St Joseph’s Hospital South Emergency Room. I was NEVER seen other than to get my vitals. We were in the waiting room the whole time. There were people who had been waiting longer than us. I finally left at 2:30 am, after staff told us they did not know how much longer we would have to wait. To add insult to injury I was told I would be charged for the triage services. I was told they had 2 doctors on duty. Since the patients in the waiting room varied at times from about 30 to about 12, that is clearly not enough doctors. One patient asked for a blanket but was told it was hospital policy not to give blankets in the waiting room (another staff member did bring him a blanket). I can’t judge their medical care as I never received any.Angela BrunoWithout asking any questions, I was taken back, given ekg, 5 vials of blood taken, chest X-ray. All within 30 minutes of arriving, still no questions asked, other than about insurance. Three hours later still sitting in waiting room, ask how much long do they think till I see a dr, they don’t know, could be a few more hours. 5 people sitting at front desk laughing and having a great time while people who came expecting emergency care are waiting and waiting. I left as I couldn’t sit any longer in bad pain. I told them I am not paying for any of those tests and that they really need to advise people when they arrive how much time they would need to wait/at least an estimate… after 4 hours there they still couldn’t tell me how much longer. If my Dr still recommends I go to ET today I will go to Brandon, hopefully they still treat Emergencies as emergencies and not a way to charge for a bunch of tests.Janay GoinsHorrible bed side manner. We sat there for an hour for a nose clip that never came for a bad nose bleed.. If I have a choice, I will never return there.Rene Hernandez⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDr. F. Schiebel, ER Doctor was the greatest. Very nice, thorough, knowledgeable and respectful.Tamicka BushNot happy with the service I received. The staff was nice but I was misdiagnosed and had to go to another hospital for a 2nd opinion..Dominique HillI went into the south location with a possible sprain wrist and at the end I was offered a wrist splint and declined because we purchased our own and they charged me for it anyway, so I called and complain and thd hospital did an audit (Gabrielle Anderson) was the auditor and she had the nerve to tell me I did get the wrist splint when I clearly turned it down in the emergency room , and then when I followed up again asking what is the next course of actions and I was told I can hire an outside auditor! I dont have the money for that and the nerve of them to even suggest this, when all they would need to do is speak to th RN on duty that night and she could tell them I turned down the wrist splint. I will be filing a BBB complaint and also my lawyer will be reaching out to the hospital as well, if this is not handled I will be contacting the CEO and to file the complaint with him/her as well. I believe they think I am going to let this go, but I will pursue this to the end, I am not paying almost $250 for a splint I did not even receiveRalph X⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI walked into the ER with heavy chest pain, thinking that this is it. In less than a minute medical personnel hooked me up to the EKG, took blood samples ect. I felt in good hands surrounded by top professionals. I’m here now 3 days and need to say, every single step they take is explained very well in a easy to understand way. Everyone who’s working here is super nice and knows what he’s doing. The whole hospital is very nice and clean. All hi tech equipment. Best hospital I have ever seen. If you need help, try this place, you won’t regret it. You’re in good hands. It’s like a family atmosphere.RachaelMy first review got erased.. I came here bc of pain from a hernia that I had had for about 3 almost 4 yrs. The er doc asked to see it, and without warning shoved it in so hard I had sharp pain that made me gag and almost puke following it.. He apologized and said he fixed me, and kept telling my 4yr old son that he hurt me and that he fixed me. Right after it popped back out and I was in more pain than I had come in with, so they offered to do the surgery free . The surgeon was nice enough.. But up until my operation I wasn’t even given a Tylenol for pain. I voluntarily shared what medicine I take and I was treated like a criminal for it. I told them I wouldn’t do surgery without my pain being controlled and they said they would control it and put something on my chart. After I came out of surgery they did not give me anything besides torodol for over 13 hours for pain. I had to have mesh put in. I also have an extremely high pain threshold but this was worse than any surgery I have ever had. One nurse kept telling me it was supposed to hurt. It took until the next day when I couldn’t even get up to pee for them to give me 1 pain pill every 4 hrs. But the nurse wouldn’t bring it in until the 5 or 6 hr mark. I actually heard her talking rude about me over the patient call button after calling to ask for meds. They took my ibuprofen that I tried to take that I had in my bag bc they weren’t giving me anything. I still can’t barely get up and they sent me home on Friday. I am in so much pain. Also my most valuable ring went “missing” from my bag when I was returned from surgery. I filed a report but they said my jewelry should have been checked into security, like I knew this or so thing, they threatened to cut it off me in the first place. They sent me home without even asking if I was okay and then tried to make me leave before my ride even got there. They sent me home with barely enough pain pills for 2 days I’m in such agony I can’t even go to the bathroom. I have to climb 15 stairs to get in my home. I have never been treated so poorly in all my life. And now I’m missing an irreplaceable piece of jewelry as well I didn’t even want to have this surgery and I told them so.i also never received any straight answers regarding whether my hernia was fat or bowel, or if my groin pain is related to the hernia. Everything one says conflicts with another. My pain level has not went below a 7 since going in for surgery. If anything it’s higher now and I’ve been home for going on 2 days I can’t stand this, it Hurst so bad. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemyPlinio Alves⭐️⭐️Clean facility and staff are Ok (except for reception area, always unhappy to be at work) but the wait time is just crazy. Have to go there a lot with my kids and it’s always 2+ hours even for the simplest strep test. Not much updating during wait either. Needs improvement.Dan Gordon⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedCare has been awesome. Amazing bedside manor. Even good food.Keith Marion⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy wife had suffered a fall. No traumatic injuries but painful so we thought it best to have it evaluated. They wasted no time in getting her back, doing an X-ray and diagnosing her. Everyone was professional and caring. They took time to sit down with her and listen to her. We’ll never go anywhere else!Chris Hanni⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedVery clean, no wait time, and actually made you feel welcome; great place.
