Before you go to UCHealth – Powers, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Colorado Springs emergency room think.
Leta SantiagoIn my 82 years I have NEVER been treated so horrible as I was at this place. I went in because I was sick. I walked out with an infection called hematoma. I even had to take myself to see my primary doctor. Now I’m on antibiotics to get rid of the infection they gave me because they used the WRONG needles. The nurses were rude, unprofessional, and don’t know what the heck they’re doing. Do yourself a favor, STAY AWAY from this so-called Emergency Room. They make you sicker than you were!!!Chineta Lynn⭐️⭐️⭐️The Dr referred to me as My FRIEND. Excellent bedside manner. I was so weak I could not open my eyes so I never seem him.Hatrick BatemanThe lady at the front desk literally told me it would be my 50 dollar copay for an urgent care visit, then a month later I get a 7,000 dollar bill in the mail for bloodwork and an IV. I have called them nearly a dozen times and they refuse to help. They told me the lady at the front desk shouldn’t be discussing billing issues. Well, she did, and she lied, so maybe work on training your employees better. I specifically asked if this would be billed as an urgent care before I went back to see a doctor and was lied to. Bunch of crooks.Richard Chasteen⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe medical staff at Urgent Care at Powers Blvd and Constitution was very professional, polite and dedicated in providing superb medical care.Myron Babcock⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWell trained medical staff. Very Clean well equipped medical facility.Kirsten Davies⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI love way how fast they are to take you in and the doctors are so nice and they no want they are doingNick BittermanI’ve been here several times for varying reasons for myself and others I have given rides to and it has always been a fast and pleasant experience until tonight. I went in with a knee injury that hurt so bad I thought it could have been broken and wanted x-rays to be sure. Turns out it isn’t but the treatment I received from the staff, including the doctor, who regardless of telling them many times that my pain was severe and I needed to be moved slowly, kept moving it around as if they didn’t even believe I was injured. Quite insensitive bordering on rude and when I asked for a wheel chair it was not made available again on the way out and I was asked to walk. It was a little busy but I don’t know why I was made to feel like I was wasting their time tonight. I may still go back if I need to in the future because this was the only bad experience I’ve had there.Cara Little⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI went to this ER for some early pregnancy concerns. The doctors and nurses were very helpful and took my condition seriously. They saw me quickly and really provided me with some answers and piece of mind. I would definitely go here again. Thank you UC Health ER on Powers!D NI don’t have any insurance. Sadly I have had to come in twice to be seen in the last two weeks for a horrible chest cold since all the doctors in the area have been booked up and I had such a hard time breathing from this horrendous cough that I actually was scared enough to go into the hospital twice In the middle of the night. Instead of actually trying to figure out what is going on they said it was asthma exacerbation.?! And sent me on my way! The consistent dry cough and chest pain and fever from this cold is what is making it hard to breathe. But they don’t take the time out to even help . But of course I will have to pay the outrageous er visit costs to have a second round of prednisone that didn’t even help the first time and does not seem to be helping the second time for the other issues I’m dealing with. Bottom line if you really are in need of help you need to go to a regular er room. They will end up killing people sending them away and not listening to their actual symptoms.Kymber Williams⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedExcellent ER. Very thorough care. Kind nurses and doctors. We never hesitate to go here. Highly recommend.Jamie Lopez⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWait times are good, staff is courteous and to the point . I never have a issue with insurance or incorrect billing . This is my preferred facility to go to in colorado springsJohn Keith⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff & my doctor was amazing. Fantastic job.Mark White⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGreat place after a bad time. Courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable people took great care of me Nurse Emily was particularly excellent.David L⭐️⭐️I was only picking up a patient from this facility and the nurse (I’m assuming) with dark hair and glasses had a very condescending demeanor and tone with me as if I were her silly child. Luckily, I didn’t have to deal with her personality for too long. Just leaving a review to provide possible coaching for her in the near future.Jody McDaniels⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGreat staff, very friendly and knowledgeable. They explained everything very well.T Smith⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDecided to bring my son here since urgent care couldn’t accommodate, we were not disappointed staff and nurses were phenomenal , very personable. Took time to explain everything and treat my son. We left with a great lasting impression. Highly recommend this location for your EMERGENCY needs.Dustin Penn⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI brought my wife to the urgent care located on Powers and Constitution for a high fever, body aches and heavy shivering. We don’t like going to the doctor but she was so uncomfortable we really had no choice. Christina checked us in, and I must say I was VERY impressed by her. She was empty polite and friendly, making us very comfortable. The thing that made her stand out was the extra effort she put in for my wife’s comfort. She noticed how bed she was shaking and asked I’d she felt cold. Of course my wife responded yes and at that point Christina told her that she could wait in the car with the heat on so that my wife wood be more comfortable while we were waiting to be seen. She came to the window to let us know our was our turn, and at 10pm with a wife who’s EXTREMELY uncomfortable in the A/C…..I couldn’t ask for a better level of service. I know that was long, but we’re will ALWAYS come to this location after tonight. THANKS CHRISTINA!!!Robert HarrisDon’t go they will charge you twice on everything and play games on the amountsbrian scharaI have never been to a hospital or er before this I actually came here for severe stomach and back pain i believe on 07/04/2019 I was freaking out because I hadn’t ever felt this way in my life I was in pain so much I was shaking and having trouble speaking clearly when I was seen I had explained my very painful symptoms I never saw a doctor I don’t believe but the nurses were very nice they had explained that it was most likely a severe anxiety attack I had nicely disagreed because my anxiety doesn’t come with internal pain in my organs in the abdomen area they had prescribed me lorazepam for the anxiety I was there for maybe less than an hour including waiting to be seen the bill came out to 7794.97 my insurance dropped it down to 3967.08 I was shocked to see it this high the pain had come and gone I would take the medication that was prescribed but it wouldn’t help and I would just lay down for hours till it went away one day I was at work it was 8/22/2019 when the pain came back I decided to go to the hospital again and see what was going on since this pain wasn’t from anxiety it turned out it was acute pancreatitis and I had been dealing with it for month without knowing which can be very bad I was in the hospital till early evening 8/26/2019 last night I’m not sure what that bill will be but they had found the problem and I know the life changes I need to make to get healthy again but I can’t help feeling upset that this has happened to me and now I have to pay both bills when one didn’t even help resolve anythingnatalie asheI have no plans of ever going back to this place. I will say the girl working the first desk is a delight and the nurse I saw was warm and friendly. But the doctor I saw? Barely talked to me or spent any time with me. Dr Nohava asked me questions that didn’t apply to me. It was clear she didn’t look at my medical history at all. She was rude and short. I felt like I was being interrogated and rushed to answer. I could over hear the nurse going over my results with the doctor, while the nurse had some concerns Dr. Nohava brushes her off. I purposely picked this place since my regular doctor is part of UC Heath. Dr. Nohava was a disappointment. Considering I was in there for a female issue I was expecting more from a female doctor. There was maybe 2 other people being seen while I was there- not busy. Poor bedside manner.Kyra DeLoriIt’s sad I could have pick a closer Er but took a longer drive to go there just to not get any answers the guy was really nice but wasn’t helpful . Next time I will be going else where.Jerrold Milroy⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGood efficient emergency treatment.Heather Ann⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWasn’t sure what to expect from this place but I was extremely pleased by the service. Took in my sister’s boyfriend because he needed stitches after a falling accident. Our RN, Larry, and our doctor, Dr. Kirkpatrick, were absolutely AMAZING. Larry was so funny and down-to-earth; we laughed with him & he lightened the mood with his funny stories. Dr. Kirkpatrick was also extremely down-to-earth and very open. We asked him a ton of questions & he responded thoroughly, making sure we understood everything. Honestly, being in a room with Dr. Kirkpatrick and Larry was like being in a room with old friends. The care my sister’s boyfriend received was phenomenal. I would wholeheartedly recommend both Larry and Dr. Kirkpatrick. They are stellar, knowledgeable individuals and UCHealth is lucky to have staff like them to represent their facility.Meghan MundellI went in to the ER after a visit at an urgent care. I had been having a severe headache for a week and a half. The doctor I saw at the urgent care took great care of me and after reviewing all my symptoms he gave me a set of instructions to follow, along with medication. He stated that if I noticed any confusion with the headache or stiff neck I should go to the ER where they would most likely do a CT. I was overwhelmed with everything I was going through and as I was leaving I remembered that I had done some silly things over the last week that might be considered confusion. This naturally worried me. I decided that I’d rather be safe than sorry and check what the ER had to say. This was the biggest mistake I ever made. A nurse came in the room and right off the bat she was condescending and rude. I never EVER call people on their rude behavior, but she was so condescending that I told her I’m not stupid, and when she changed her attitude and apologized I said well, you came off extremely aggressive. Once she left the room I heard talking outside the door, laughing, and a comment of, “maybe it’s a growing pain.” Professionals who should be helping, treating, and educating were insinuating that I was stupid. The doctor came in to follow up with me and explained everything that I was going through and why she felt I wasn’t a good fit for a CT scan. She was extremely nice and I had no issues with her at all, though I don’t know if she was involved in the conversation or not. When the nurse came back in I let her know that I heard their conversation and that it was extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. She became defensive and made up a list of excuses of how that conversation couldn’t have related to me. I told her I wanted to leave and left very upset. And wouldn’t you know it, as I’m walking out, I hear her begin talking to someone else saying, “she’s pissed!” Again, extremely unprofessional. I have had chronic health issues since I was eight. I am no stranger to the medical industry, yet I have NEVER been treated so terribly. When someone is concerned about their health and not feeling well I find it appalling that the professionals who should be taking care of their patients are laughing at their expense. This behavior was absolutely inappropriate and uncalled for.Katie BakerReceptionist was on drowsy pills about fell asleep checking us in then the doctors did nothing.Fowler Ched⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThey are always great!!!Rap AlienWhen we got there we were the only people in the both waiting rooms and anywhere as we walked back to the room, were we sat in there for 30 minutes before Anyone came in! And at the end of it all we got xrays done and a splint put on after 2 and half hours, and 10 days later I get a $2800 bill in the mail!Matthew HeinzelDeserves negative stars. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS IT’S LIFE THREATENING. They appear as an urgent care in the parking lot of a grocery store where they took over an old video store building, but don’t be fooled. They bill as an ER using UCHealth’s hospital emergency room tax id #. I was billed $4,685.91 for a 30 minute visit where they swabbed my nose and told me I had the flu. They sent me home to “drink water and rest.” I got the HUGE bill 60 days later! When I asked for an itemized receipt- they sent one that read on 2 lines: $168.57 for lab services and the remainder of the balance just read: “emergency services” BIG SCAMAmber Clara⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedEvery single person (doctors, nurses, MAs, registration) I came into contact here was extremely kind and friendly. Literally no waiting time – staff accurately judged the severity of the case (very deep gash in leg with gravel) and my boyfriend was seen right away. Staff were professional and knowledgeable. One particular staff member (nurse?), Larry, was sooo funny and personable and an absolute joy to work with. He went above and beyond expectations to make us feel welcome and comfortable. 10/10 would recommend this place to everyone!Elisa HenryI had the unfortunate experience of being “treated” by RN Rosa. I came in for chest pain and lower back pain in relation to a terrible cold I was experiencing. I just wanted to make sure everything was okay, as I had never had pain like that and that severe. She did not make eye contact with me the whole time she was asking questions and was leaned against the wall. She told me with irritation that the pain is most likely due to my coughing and left the room. I then heard her and several other employees outside my room laughing and cursing about various things. The doctor finally came in a half hour later, even though the ER was very slow and I was one of the few people being seen. He ordered some tests and left. Then Rosa comes back in with a breathing treatment for me, hands it to me and starts walking out the door, I asked what to do since I’ve never done this before and she turns back and says “like a peace pipe” and leaves. I try to figure that out and once it was done I poke my head out of the room and let her know it was done. She looks up from her computer and looks back down without responding. Shortly after that the oxygen tube connected to the wall pops off. I try and figure out how to turn it off. Thirty minutes later the doctor comes back in with my results and I ask him to look in my ears because he hadn’t checked anything in his previous exam. He looks in my ears and determines they are infected as well. Thirty minutes later I hear Rosa say, “can I discharge her now?” She then came in with the papers and I left. I have no idea the name of the doctor who saw me due to it not being present on any of my paperwork. I’m very upset by the treatment I received here due to it being SO unprofessional. I would highly recommend using another ER facility.Kelly AndersonThis facility deserves 0 stars. Stay clear of this place if you’re looking for a professional friendly medical staff! They seem to have NO basic knowledge or bed side manner. After entering the exam room & being asked about my current medications, I was immediately told that UCHealth staff routinely pretend to put in your correct medication list during each visit. Looking back, I believe that when I asked her to look into the UCHealth med records from a week ago, she would be able to see the current list, but the nurse seemed put out that she would have to look them up. In fact, she seemed put out that she had to do anything. The doctor had a 100 pound chip on his shoulders, the nurse was condescending, rude & quite frankly mean. I left that building feeling worse than when I walked in. My children asked me on the way out to the car, ‘Why didn’t they want to help you, mama?’ Don’t waste your time or energy on this place. UCHealth needs to train their emergency staff that genuine kindness goes a very long way.Shanice GilbertThe nurse lady really yelled at me when I screamed because I got a shot. Sorry it hurts! What am I supposed to do. Laugh!Parrish Cole⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedFast and easyalberto beltran⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedFast and caringJessiah Waddles⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGot here at 5:45 and I’m now finishing up with my son at 6:20. Very quick and kindsara kirbyDO NOT GO HERE! IT WOULD BE BETTER TO DRIVE 200 MILES TO FIND THE NEXT HEALTH CLINIC. THE DOCTOR AND STAFF ARE COMPLETELY INCAPABLE OF HANDLING AN EMERGENCY. Having a miscarriage is traumatic enough. Having this place as an emergency room should be criminal. ABSOLUTELY UNPROFESSIONAL.Bob Bobbington⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedIf I have an emergency, and it isn’t life threatening… I go here. Every time. I’ve never had a bad experience. My son broke a leg, daughter twisted an ankle, and I angered and was stung by a dozen or so bees. No issues, professional care, and friendly staff. I’ve never waited in the waiting room longer than five minutes and once back in a room we’ve seen a doctor within ten minutes of arriving. I don’t understand some of the other comments complaining about the cost… it’s an ER! Don’t go to an ER for a bump or a scrape Or those saying that it isn’t an Urgent Care… it clearly states, ‘Emergency’ Room on the front of the building. 10/10Will go again the next time I do something stupid and get hurt.Portia PettisBrought my fiance here Monday because she couldn’t breathe, she is now at St Francis with a sever upper respiratory infection hooked up to breathing machines. They told us at UC Health, she simply had a panic attack.Angelika WhatleyBe aware that this is an emergency room, not urgent care. They will not tell you this at the desk. They appear to be an urgent care. They charged me over 2000 dollars for 15 minutes and a bronchitis diagnosis. Now, 6 month later i received the 2000 dollar bill. DO NOT GO THERE. OPT FOR A REAL EMERGENCY ROOM IF NEEDED.GARY AND CATHY Green⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe would give 10 stars if you had them. Excellent facility. From the minute we walked in the door, everyone was amazing. Dr. Hooker was very knowledgeable and efficient, as were the nurses. There really was no comparison with a regular emergency room. Thanks!Enid Beitzel⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy husband had to go to UCHealth Emergency Room last evening with a UTI. We were very impressed with the service we received. We were totally impressed with the doctor and his concern, care and brilliance to take care of Dave. The doctors name is Kit Hooker. The nurses were very friendly and helpful. We did not have to wait at all to be served. The place is so clean. If we need help again we will know where to go.Marni Huger⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedOur family had a great experience with the UCHealth Emergency Room on Powers. The nurses and doctor were extremely thorough and professional, and very caring. We got in and out quickly, and they followed up with us with a phone call and note after our visit on suggested future testing, too. We would strongly recommend this facility for emergency care.focused09⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had a great experience at First Choice. The staff was very helpful and considerate, bedside manner was superb. I was given water and extra blankets fast than the blink of an eye. All of my questions were answers and concerns calmed. I was explained all treatment options and Dr. Powers made it a point to say that he didn’t want to do any unnecessary procedures or treatments and left the decision up to me. I was at the ER for about 2 hours or so and I am more than happy with the service provided to me. From the intake/billing to the nurses and physicians. It was a pleasurable experience.Galena DearbornSon went in for a bump on the head. $850 dollars for 10 minutes of time and NOTHING done!!!! No ice pack, no scans. Just a viewing of the bump and he was declared fine. Called billing and that is the STANDARD RATE for LEVEL 1 ER visit. It will only go up for more extreme cases and for actual work performed. Fraud! This is more expensive that going to a hospital ER. Urgent care self pay is $129. When I demanded an itemized bill they don’t have one. This is their rate. When you go to the facility in person and ask for the self pay rates vs insurance rates…they LIE and say they don’t know. Clearly they do know if $850 is the lowest FLAT RATE OFFERED!! AVOID this place! ….update….Received a second bill later for the DOCTOR fee of $653!! The doctor never even touched my son’s head. Just looked at him and sent us home. NEVER AGAIN!Jason MartinezWent there back in Dec 2017 for some pretty horrific flu like symptoms. Well turns out a flu test wasn’t needed as advised by the PA. Just rest and pain reliever. Fast forward to this week where I get a bill for $900+. Unreal. On the plus side they offer payment options. You are better off going other places.jessica salgado⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was very pleased here. The minute we walked in everyone was nice and fast service. The Dr and all staff was very respectful and on top of all of our care. I would go back very nice facility and clean also. Great job!! Nicholle Jameson⭐️⭐️I’m giving 2 stars because the nurses and intake girls were excellent. Dr. Jane Fansler, not so much. I am so livid today that it took me finding a primary (who are a team of Medical Practitioners) to get my knee taken care of. (2) MP’s today asked me why the Physician at the ER didn’t drain fluid off my knee when I went in last night!! I felt judged by this doctor and all she did was give me an ACE bandage and sent me home. A member of staff said that the doctor is “strict” with Medicaid Patients. I almost cried. I had 5.8oz of fluid drained from my knee today and now I can actually walk. The fluid is being sent for testing to determine if there was infection since the fluid was thick and red instead of the normal color of yellow. What if I have an infection? Did she not want to treat me because I was on Medicaid? Just a heads up that I’ve only lived in Colorado for 18 days. I got Medicaid to be on the safe side in case something like this happened before I found a job. I’ve made $50K+/yr for the last 11years. Don’t judge a person because of their insurance. Not everyone abuses the system. I just needed some help to be able to walk again. No pills, just some pain relieving cream to dull the pain! Shame on you… The picture below shows why I felt that it was necessary to go to the ER.Greg Tesitor⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAs previously reportedAngela CoatesWaiting room was empty. Waited only about a second to be called in. Waited in the room for about an hour before being seen by the doctor. Vital and wait was not checked. Nurse who took down some information on me wrote it down on a paper towel. Doctor finally came in and basically said I was fine without even doing an exam first. Don’t think he took it seriously. He basically said since you walk in here fine, you should be alright. . I was in a minor car collision with a deer and think I have a little whiplash that wasn’t diagnosed by the ER doctor. I have all the symptoms but he could of care less. Maybe they are not designed to do minor work on patients. I probably would have been better treated if I had broken bones and came in a ambulance or something. I wasn’t happy.Cynara OlsonI went in yesterday morning because I couldn’t breathe. I already have a problem going to the doctor when I should, so I was already hesitant. The nurse that came in was EXTREMELY rude. She says “you definitely don’t LOOK like someone who is having breathing issues. If you had just waited a couple of hours you could have avoided this”…. I have been told several times before that if you are ever feeling like you are having trouble breathing to go straight to the ER. Maybe SHE didn’t consider me not being able to breathe a big deal…but I did. She made me feel stupid for even being concerned. I live half a mile from this location, and would drive across the city just to go somewhere else. Maybe consider a different profession if you don’t like people or having to interact with them?….This nurse was exactly the reason that I hate going to the doctor in the first place. Judgement should not be involved when someone doesn’t feel good.Chad Whetman⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedCame in on a Saturday morning, sick as a dog. They started seeing me before the paperwork was even finished and took great care of me. The staff was extremely kind and receptive as well as attentive to my needs. The bedside manner was second to none, I felt like I was the only patient in the building. The doctor was quick to see me, kind, and made an accurate assessment of the situation. My wife and 1 year old daughter waited in the waiting room while I was being taken care of. The waiting area was clean and child friendly and the reception staff was very friendly and accommodating to them. I would definitely come here again if I have another issue.Heidi Hupe⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis place is wonderful. I was just in there the other night during the weekend, they got me in so fast. The Dr was a very nice guy I think his name was Edward. The staff was also so friendly and nice (Diana, Adrianna and Cameron) The lady at the front desk was extremely nice too. I will continue to go back here and tell everyone else i know about this little secret. Thank you all for being so great.Melissa Hussey⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedBeen here twice and everyone is so pleasant & understanding. I would recommend this place to everyone. Thank you guys for always making me feel super comfortable.Jenn Sides⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHands down, the best experience my family has had when walking into an ER or an Urgent care. Everyone was super friendly, took care of my husband immediately and with a fantastic bedside manner. The Dr we saw was great and very knowledgeable without being condescending at all! The facility was clean and pleasant. Even my co-workers were astonished when I returned to work so quickly. Thank you, thank you!Candy Nuckles⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI am deaf, I was sick chest short breath. Not much longer after we filled out the paperwork, the staff was ready to stitch her up. My daughter’s nurse was very kind and helpful… Not to mention quick! We were in and out of the Emergency Room in no time. I’d highly recommend this ER to anyone that enjoys a quick trip. When she came to get her stitches out a week or so later, we were in and out within thirty minutes. Thank you all for being
