UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) Reviews

Before you go to UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital (UCH), you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Aurora emergency room think.

Shakira Eglitis⭐️⭐️⭐️So I would like to give you a update about this hospital a little over a month ago I wrote a review how my sister was the deny treatment due to not having insurance from this facility I was contacted and so was my sister she got an appointment with two doctors her not know The difference in state insurance one was chosen that is not accepted at this facility The doctors excepted her with no problem but when it came time for them to schedule her for a biopsy and a CT scan they turned her down because her insurance is still pending again I tell you if you do not have insurance or money this facility is horrible which is really bad because the doctors are probably wonderful What I don’t understand if you are top 10 for cancer treatments in your state how do you turn your patience away as I stated before I myself work for a hospital inside of a cancer unit and we have never turned a patient away for CT scan biopsy chemotherapy radiation you guys should really be ashamed of yourself to all again get her started only to turn her way again and again everyone that I talk to is very pleasant they just can’t break hospital policy Not everyone can afford health care and being in that her insurance is pending I would think that you guys would take that into fix consideration throughout the whole hospital not just the doctors office that sees fit that she needs urgent care but you guys are on willing to help herJ S⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedEnjoying the view as I wait for my appointment at the WISH clinic. A wonderful group if caregivers that meet all women’s health needs in a 1 stop shop location. Convenience alone would probably keep me coming back. See having excellent staff and providers is icing on the cake.Christine Bauder⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy daughter gave birth to a little baby boy in Saturday morning and I must say that the nurses working in labor and delivery are amazing as are the midwives. My daughter wanted an all natural birth and not once was medication pushed on her and when she thought she couldn’t do it, every single nurse in that room would tell her she could do it and how strong she was and they encouraged her with not only their words but their actions too. They were nothing short of amazing!! Truly the best of the best and I couldn’t be more grateful… When they say there are angels loving amongst us, they are talking about these nurses… Thank you so much for all you do….Julia Blalock⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy best friend and her boyfriend visited me over this past week, and her boyfriend had a seizure for the first time in the middle of the night. He was brought via ambulance to this ER, and I was very impressed by the staff. They were very attentive, answered our many, panicked questions, and had all labs and imaging done very quickly. We were in and out of there within two hours, and my friend was feeling much much better. I have my fair share of medical problems, and have never had an experience this impressive at a medical facility. I definitely recommend this ER!LAURA CRISPIN I’m very disappointed in my experience . My son was hurt in a motorcycle accident. He was transported by ambulance to the university hospital at 1:30 pm, right now, it is 10:15pm. We have been in the emergency room (in a room) for almost 10 hrs. I have never experienced anything like this before. We did not see the Orthopedic surgeon until 9:00 pm. I’m thankful to God that he only had a broken ankle and not any bleeding on his head. I would not recommend this emergency room to anybody especially if it is life threatening.Mil Ruiz⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Visiting here today waiting on my husband surgery I decided to get a bite to eat. The table of supervisors across from me we’re discussing employees and doing evals for Reggie and Leona. Great care! Management could use some professionalism though. I took pictures of management if your care team would like themAngela Danielle⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Most of the staff here are amazing – however, I have to share this small experience I had with a security officer in the ER section. I don’t remember this man’s name, but he does not deserve his job. When I came to visit my friend who had been severely burned in an incident, he played a cruel joke on me, had me sobbing because came up with a terrible lie, and even told me that my friend DESERVED to be hurt and in the ER. All I know is that this man was older (50s-60s), had a big potbelly, gray hair, and seemed to have trouble breathing as he walked around. He is a terrible person and the only reason I wouldn’t give this place 5 stars. Everyone else here was so friendly and amazing.Elizabeth Bailey You need to do a better job helping patients get insurance. I am a care coordinator and spent 50% of my time helping patients navigate the bills they receive from you. HELP YOUR PATIENTS!!!!Mani Cadey⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER Recommended2 months ago i have had a serious surgery in my lung and my stomach. Without the surgeon team i don’t think i would have made it. They made sure not to discharge me until i was ready. The days i was there i had the best care! Everyone that worked there was so sweet and kind! They cared about their patient a lot. The staff took excellent care of me. So thank you so much for your patience, professionalism, hard work and taking good care of me because of your excellent team I am doing very well.latanya shuler⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI am so impressed with the care my daughter and granddaughter received ! My daughter was admitted for preterm labor. From the time they labor and delivery received her it was all love. She had 2 of the best Nurses ! Meghan and Ms Amy! I don’t think we would have understood half the stuff without then! They went above and beyond their duties to make sure my daughter was ok! Even after their shift was over they still checked in on her!!! After my granddaughter was born they were both in the NICU making sure we were still good!!! Thank you UCHealth you did a great job employing the best nurses!!! They are a great at what they do and you can tell they love there jobs!!!Angela Brooks⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy boyfriend has been in and out of the ER roughly 7 times in the last month and received surgery from Dr. Vogel recently. Everyone there, from the nurses to the doctors to the security team to the café staff to the gift shop people have been absolutely fabulous. The staff in the ER have been wonderfully compassionate and have worked so hard through his rather difficult situation. Dr. Vogel in particular has been amazing. When you talk to him you really feel how knowledgeable and how effective he is. He seems like the type who can move mountains out of sheer will. I was so impressed and thankful for everything he did. I do not have words to say how amazing he is.Laura Bock⭐️⭐️I have been to this facility multiple times, however, my last visit was the worst. The female doctor sent in to “help” me treated me terribly. I felt like I had to convince her I was sick, though I had a fever, vomiting, and issues breathing. She was beyond rude and hurtful. Now, a couple days later, when I call to describe my experience and lack of care I received, the nurse/ doctor was just as dismissive. This has been a very frustrating experience. This is the first time I’ve left a negative review, as all other vists have been wonderful, but one bad experience can ruin everything, which has happened in this case. If you are going to work in a hospital, then learn how to treat patients with the respect and care they deserve. I was not prescribed medication crucial for getting my breathing back on line, and their only response is see your primary tomorrow or go back to the ER. I am very disappointed with UCHealth at this time.Matthew Shelton⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI got great treatment without being insured. The nurses were patient with me and the doctors really helped me get set up with the financial planning center which I will go to tomorrow morning they are going to help me fill out paperwork for Medicaid that will not be returned to me with old records from w2s I submitted. Anyways long story short I didn’t think I would be treated as long as I did. They did not rush me out of the door and I was welcome to stay an additional night. I chose to schedule an appointment to come back so my credit is not ruined another seven years . This hospital shows compassion and mercy to those who are without control over their health. I came in 72 hours ago in DKA and left with a practical plan for diabetic management. I could not expect more for less bill, ever. This state is amazing never have I ever thought I could be treated fairly and not have money for a bill on top of that helping me secure Medicaid so I’m not in future debt for what I surely owe. A1 sauce it’s that important. I would come here to die after a bison meatloaf this whole place is about performing their functions and I was not denied one single thing I asked for, from ice chips, all the way to exit that way sir I was given help in recovery and help getting financial assistance.Robert McLeod⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Parking is distant from the entrance. Once inside there is much walking to reach destination. Wonderfully modern. Staff is courteous and efficient. The intersection in front of the building needs to have some traffic controls installed, very congested!charles holland⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAll i can say is wow.I had the most caring stay in a hospital that i have ever encountered.I was admitted to the hospital on Saturday of last week.I come to find out i had to have surgery.I was placed on the C.C.U unit.my time there was very pleasant.everybody and i mean all the staff on that unit was very professional and very caring.the took care of me in my time of need. The nurse,s were the highlight of my stay.Dayshift and nightshift.i really dont think i could have made it through it without them.they are very hardworking and sinciere in their care.Thank you all for nursing me back to health, you all are the best at what you do.Keep up the good workPamela Gray BEWARE: I went to the ER in February of 2018 and was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (a cold, basically). The bill: $8,058.90. This did not include one of the Dr’s bills which I received separately (an additional $615). My insurance company was not billed until December (9 months later). In March of 2019 I received yet another bill… they just keep coming. What’s worse is that I never recovered from this “respiratory infection” and was admitted to the hospital in Oregon in critical condition 8 weeks later. Fortunately, they were able to diagnose and treat me. Please don’t tell me to “contact a billing representative” unless they are actually authorized to do something other than read my statement to me.Gary Tingey⭐️⭐️So, my 23-year-old daughter was in Denver for the weekend last month for a graduate school interview and had a situation in which she felt she needed to have medical attention. Under normal circumstances, she would have simply gone to a InstaCare for this non-scheduled situation. However, due to the late hour, there were not InstaCare facilities open so she had to go to the hospital. She ended up going to the University of Colorado Hospital which was close to her. At the time, she felt like she was having a heart attack which instead ended up being a panic attack. So, she ended up spending two hours in the ER at UC Hospital during which time they performed a battery of tests on her. Thankfully she calmed down and was released two hours after her arrival. Then, just last week we received a nearly $10,000 bill for her ER room visit! The breakdown included roughly $3,500 in tests and scans which I can understand given the nature of her complaints. However, there was also a line item which simply stated Emergency Room which was for $6,100. After seeing those charges, I called the UC Hospital billing department and asked what the $6,100 charge was for in this regard. I won’t go in to great detail, but the $6,100 was simply to get her admitted to the hospital. Think of it as a “cover charge” for a night club or bar. You have to pay that amount just to get a doctor to look at you and then everything else they do will be additional and added to that amount. Lastly, granted my daughter was in distress at the moment, but NO effort was made to inform her of the pending $6,100 charge just for walking in the facility. How is that possible? This isn’t some $50 or $100 Co-Pay, this is an amount of money that many, many people cannot afford and would cripple them financially. How is that in any way fair or ethical? I don’t want to make this a political debate, but this type of “gouging” should not be tolerated. So, I would be very careful about visiting UC Hospital, and in general, I would never consider receiving treatment at their hospital unless you have NO choice, or it is literally a “life or death” moment.Felicia Franzel I took my father to have surgery today at the hospital and me and my son decided to go to the cafeteria to grab a bite to eat. The lady working the deli section was very rude and to top it all off the blt sandwich I got was the worst blt sandwich I ever tasted and made me very I’ll. I would have just thrown it away and got something else somewhere else but I done already spent what I had on me and my sons meals at their pricey cafeteria. I can’t stay away from the toilet more that 5 minutes and everytime I burp I can taste the disgusting blt sandwich everytime. I do not recommend that anyone eats there!!!Beth Ramsey⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe have spent a great deal of the last year with my husband in treatment in the University Hospital system. Every physician we have encountered is amazingly gifted. In oncology, we have been blessed by the brilliance of Drs. Jimeno, Lanning, Nath and Acharya. They are very capable, caring people who do their best every day to provide wonderful care to each patient and family. Each of them shines in a different way, and we will be forever grateful to all of them for their intelligence, kindness, and patience with us. In neurosurgery, Dr. Witt is truly astounding. What a gifted surgeon, with a completely calm and reassuring presence at all times. The nursing staff, without a single exception, has been outstanding. The nutrition service and housekeeping staff are kind and thoughtful as well. The world is not a perfect place and neither is the UC Health system. Yes, they need more parking at the main campus. Occasionally someone makes a mistake. Sometimes a policy needs to be changed. What is important, though, is their quick and thoughtful response to problems when they arise. If you can articulate a concern, they will always do their best to address it. You can’t ask for more than that. It is very clear that everyone at UC Health cares and strives to provide the best possible patient care. We are grateful to all of them, especially for their tolerance and understanding when WE are not perfect patients.Ron Kissler⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedBest service I have have anywhere , all of my stay and personal was great .Felipe bernal⭐️⭐️⭐️The only reason they get 3 stars, is because they have provided excellent care to my mom when it was needed. However, I understand that hospitals can have a very busy night therefore the wait time can be longer (6 Hr wait). But please train your staff to be more professional. I get that you have to make your shift the best you can, but when there is 10 staff members standing around in the emergency area acting and being loud as if they were at a party is very disrespectful. And this isnt the first time. Unfortunately last year we had to disconnect a family member from life support in the Neurological ICU and while the whole family is crying and spending the last hours we have with our loved one, your nurses are running up and down the halls laughing and cracking jokes. Not only was there someone dying but you’re in the ICU. There has got to be more respect than that.Auzjarae Wheeler I would not recommend this hospital for prenatal care. After being a long term patient with University, I decided to ignore suggestions from friends and family to come here. I went to the ER because I was having extreme pain and bleeding and was told that I was pregnant, but not far long enough to see on the ultra sound and was threatening a miscarriage. They told me that once a miscarriage starts there is no stopping it and that all I can do is get my HCG levels drawn every couple of days. Every time I got my blood drawn (the first three weeks) my levels were going up; they told me that it was a viable pregnancy and to keep coming in for HCG levels to be tested. So i went in there again at this point once a week and my levels dropped once; they told me that i must be miscarrying and they were sorry, but to keep coming in to make sure the levels completely drop…they didn’t they kept rising at this point so they told me I could have been pregnant with multiples and lost one but the other one was still okay. Still no ultra sounds at this point. I scheduled an appointment with a different physician, but while I was waiting on my new appointment; i continued to get my levels drawn. About two months into this I felt a sharp pain, I was lightheaded, the bleeding was continuing and getting worse. I called their nurse line and was told this was normal in early pregnancy. LIKE WHAT!!! I was in so much pain I was rolling on my floor crying. Well finally had my appointment with my new doc at Presbyterian and was told that he had to do surgery immediately because I was having an ectopic pregnancy. About two days later i received a call from University suggesting that my HCG levels were high enough to see the baby and to come get an ultrasound done…I went to the appointment anyway and then a day later was told I was having an ectopic pregnancy…something the new doc already told me (it only took him one HCG test and an ultrasound)! I just told them I already have a surgery scheduled with someone else and thanked them for their time. Well 2019 rolls around and I haven’t had a period in two months, but all my tests are negative I took at home so I call my new doc but it’s the weekend and all i can get is a nurse who tells me to go to the closet ER because of my history, she was concerned it was another ectopic…the closet hospital is University so I go. I take a urine test and blood tests as well as an ultrasound. One of the nurses came in, told my fiance and I that I am pregnant and congratulations. Notably we get excited and call our family because we have been trying to have a baby for some time…just to find out that my blood test was negative and the baby was not showing up on the ultrasound! It was so humiliating to have to call our families and tell them it was a false positive. I was under the impression that everything was good to go when she told us. Not only did I have the emotional and mental embarrassment of calling my family, but I could have died from the care I was given. I understand this is a learning hospital, but I am not a guinea pig!Tijhana Fuccnaw$om⭐️⭐️I’ve just started going to uchealth for my prenatal care . I’ve only been to one appointment and I already want to leave. The doctors and nurses were friendly during my visit but calling the nurses hotline is always a hit or miss of whether or not I will get someone who is pleasant to talk to. At the moment I am at the risk of losing my child and these people can’t even make time to see me. Instead referring me to the ER so they can do a follow up at my next scheduled appt. With this being my third pregnancy I’ve never experienced anything like this. Rose Medical is a much better hospital with much better midwifes who will meet up with you as soon as your admitted to their ER. Looks like I’m gonna be changing hospitals. Would not recommend to anyone elseLarita Howard Do not come here to have a baby. I understand this is a teaching hospital and they must learn but it’s not worth the risk. A few women I know have had their babies here and experienced permanent issues.Vincent Serio⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy son was in a car accident so we went to the ER to make sure he was ok. The process was very efficient and they moved us right along. The doc (Dr. Musi) was thorough and kind.Alma Medina⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI absolutely love this hospital. However I was just super disappointed by the treatment I got from the girl working the coffee stand at garden view caffe. I ordered a coffee and pointed out the bread I wanted stating this chocolate bread. She ROLLED her eyes and said brownie with the most annoyed tone. I’ve been at the hospital with my husband for 3 days, sorry I was half asleep and didnt call out its name right away and she had to look at what I was pointing at. I wish I had stopped and talked to her manager. If you cant be a little sympathetic and patient you shouldnt be working at a hospital period.M DV NO STARS AT ALL!!! Endocrinology margaret wierman is a FRAUD!!! improper diagnosis of medication adjustment of thyroid medication caused severe harm to the patient and NO FOLLOW-UP which is required for change of dosage of Synthroid medication! She did this during a lesson with students!!!!! They were taught the wrong way to change dosage especially because wierman used the wrong lab result as basis for determination! When patient attempted to educate of history wierman she got angry and yelled at the patient!!!Sue E This place is terrible. I saw Dr. Ferrill (ENT doc) for some pain in my ear, it was just wax build up so he removed the wax and I was in and out quickly. When I received the bill, it was $1,000 for wax removal. Seriously? I spoke with several people about the bill, including Donna who is the manager for disputes and she said that this is a reasonable charge because they have to hire a receptionist and pay for the room . I don’t know how anyone can justify charing $1000 for having some wax removed. Do not go here unless you want to be charged $500 for the use of a Q tip or some kleenex. Terrible business practices and unhelpful and rude service.Alyssa Whiteplume It’s a good hospital, besides emergency room side. Lots of people here to be seen and I observed 5 nursing sitting around VISITING. Imagine that no wonder you packed today took us 6 hours to be completely done with an regular visit.Michelle Goodall⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedIn January i suffered a major stroke. Complete blockage in my brain and in my heart. If it weren’t for the fine doctors and staff at UCHealth, i wouldnt be here right right! They took amazing care of me with expertise and kindness. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!Brian Schmitz The commercial depicts a running athlete of sorts who is littering all of her clothes on the side of the road. Who is going to pick all that up? They’re marketing department needs serious work.Tiffany Heroff⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe entire staff was amazing. Everyone was professional and so kind. As we we were getting ready to leave we got a flat tire. Multiple staff members came to help us. They found a tire pump helped with the car jack, and spent a significant amount of time helping us going way above their job description. Thank you for being so understanding and kind.Ree Burks⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThree times I almost died from Sepsis and three times… they saved my life by the grace of God!Jim Crandell I am disappointed in this hospital. My dad was hospitalized because of being compacted. And while still compacted, they gave him meatloaf to eat. That caused him to vomit. He inhaled some of his vomit which caused other complications. We had been trying before this to have him transferred to Aurora Medical. it was only after University messed up that we were able to get him transferred. He ended up passing away in Aurora Medical. Aurora Medical did everything they could to try to save him, but because of University acting the way they did it was too late. If I could I would give University a 0 star rating, however, the lowest I can give is 1 star. University should be closed down until better training is available.Suzanne McDonough⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDonated at this hospital and the hospital, staff, food and facilities were all amazing!!Mandy Vaughan How this hospital is ranked as the best in Colorado to deliver at in various health reports is beyond me. I have delivered two babies at this hospital. My latest delivery was in July. Both times I had very young and very inexperienced “labor” nurses. All my labor nurse did was monitor my vitals. Not once was I helped or encouraged through a contraction. Not one hand on my back or you can do this by the hospital labor nurse. It was bizarre. My labors were through the night and very challenging. My midwife provider (not hospital staff) however was excellent and did help me through contractions I just was not able to see them as much due to their other patients. I ended up getting an epidural each time because I couldn’t cope with the pain. In addition to inexperienced nurses the post partum beds were just AWFUL. They are airbeds and deflate several times through the night. I complained to a nurse and asked for a new bed but was told all the beds were like that. After 3 days in the hospital and as a new mother you can imagine how sleep deprived I was when discharged after a middle of the night delivery plus the beds deflating several times a night in addition to waking up to nurse a newborn. I felt so terrible upon discharge I will be looking to have our next baby elsewhere and not recommending this hospital to deliver at.Jamaiya James⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAlways appreciative of the expert care given here.Joseph Sanfilippo Hey CU Health, please get your parking situation under control. Closing the parking garage after 6pm and having valet only lots when there is no valet on duty is not only idiotic, it’s a waste of space.Dustin Ferguson I could not get into my general practitioner, so I visited the ER for a diabetes check and to make sure it was not contributing to any prior heart palpitations. I had no immediate symptoms when I arrived. I asked the entry person how much it would cost to get tested for these items and to get checked out. They indicated that I would be a Level 1 to Level 3 entry with costs peaking at $813 (based on actual graph posted on their website). They decided to run an EKG, which came up totally fine and blood test was totally fine (even though they didn’t even test me directly for diabetes). All indications suggested that I was quite healthy with no red flags. The doctor then forced me to do an X-ray (yes…..x-ray for god knows what reason.) They said I had no choice, it was the doctor’s order. I did not authorize this item and was held hostage to the emergency room even though I had no immediate health conditions or symptoms pointing to such. I was healthy and left the ER. A month later I receive a bill of nearly $10,000 (before insurance) and about $2,400 in combined bills (after insurance). By the way, I have excellent insurance as my wife works at the children’s hospital. With no immediate medical symptoms or signs of any emergency, they charged me as a level 5 emergency! That’s the highest possible rating in emergency room setting (same as being shot or having a heart attack). Obviously, this should not have applied to me at all. These people are crooks and are only concerned about getting paid…….not your health. If I actually had an emergency, I would rather die than go to this hospital. It is scary to imagine how much they would try to charge my family in the event of an actual emergency. Do yourself a favor and go to another hospital.Gloria Aragon⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe were so satisfied with all the staff, nurses and doctors, great experienceDan Shapiro⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedVery nice and attentive hospital and clinic staffJohn Walt⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWas diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. The team at UC Health-Oncologist, Surgeon, Endocrinologist, ENT Doctors are all first rate. Efficient service all in one location and GREAT patient care. UC Health Anschutz campus is a very well oiled group.Kyra G I went to an ophthalmologist under their system, and the service was fine. However, their billing system is horrendous. A month after going in I received a $4,000 bill, and that’s after my insurance. This was completely unexpected. They never told me it would cost that much, and when I went in to ask why my bill was so high, they said they have no idea how much procedures would cost. After further discussion, they told me they could give patients estimates of how much it would cost, but they choose not to. This is a terrifying healthcare scam. If I do not pay $4,000 in a month, they said they will send collection agencies. Do not see any doctors under the UC Health system.Stephanie Garcia My sister worked here as a Medical Scribe in the emergency department. They do not take a good care of the
