Before you go to UCHealth – Woodmen, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Colorado Springs emergency room think.
AngieI sat there for 5 hours with minimal communication. Doctors don’t know but act like they do. It’s expensive to take up space here. My bill is huge loaded with fees I’ve never heard of nor can identify. You don’t tell the truth. After 4 regular payments, you sent my bill to collections. You suck! Unfortunately for the average person looking for medical care under duress, we don’t read these reviews regarding the outrageous fees till after we’ve been taken advantage of.Amy Wieden⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI can’t really say I *loved* an ER, but they did do a good job. Courteous staff all around.Philip Houghton⭐️⭐️⭐️Friendly, professional, no waiting. Unfortunately the x-rays they took were not extensive enough to show my fractured knee cap. Three weeks later the orthopedic staff found the fracture and then proper care was taken.Kate Nuehorrible attitude from receptionist Ashley. Other staff was fine, but she was very rude and unwelcoming. You should have caring and nice people representing your facility.Dawn McLaughlin⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDoctors were great but I needed to get home to take pain killers as I was driving myself & in excrutiating pain. When the nurse last left my room the pain was 7 out of 10. It’s now 9 out of 10 & I am still waiting just to be discharged. They need more staff. My ride home is now going to be a 10 out of 10 pain. I have literally been begging to leave. Please GOD get me out of here! I wanted to update this review as after I posted I came to find out that there was a major emergency that had come in. While being in pain, it can be hard to be patient & as my pain was so very intense, I had no patience. Considering things afterward I was able to see more clearly that they really did do everything they could to help me. The nurse even took the time to walk me out & continually apologized for the wait. Thank you for being so good to me.Ash RossI thought this was an urgent care and was surprised by the huge bill but that’s kind of my fault. The one star is mostly because I came in with a dog bite and the doctor told me to clean it with soap and water, gave me a shot, and sent me home without even bandaging it. I’m not happy to have paid an ER copay for that level of care.Kanon HuffmanI came in to the urgent care with profuse puking and abdominal pain. They took blood, hooked me to an IV. And gave me pain killers and nausea meds. In the report they gave me it said symptoms improved while I was there. Well of course they did, I was given pain killer and such. But after those wore off, I’m still in pain, still sick. The doctor did not come in to tell me the test results they ran. A nurse told me them because the doctor was “too busy” even though for about 2.5 of those hours, I was the only person in there as all the other rooms were empty. There was blood in my urine, and all they told me to do was get some rest and to make sure I don’t get a fever. Not very good health care, except for one male nurse. He was pretty great. Kind and listened. But the other staff members pretty much just sat me in a room for 3.5 hours, and did not inform us (my family and I) of what was happening.M Reeder⭐️⭐️⭐️The front desk receptionist Ashley was very rude and unhelpful. I know I can’t base the entire experience on her, but when you’re in pain having someone have a poor attitude and be unhelpful makes it worse. There was no line or any reason for her to feel rushed or inconvenienced that a sick patient might need some help or understanding. If you’re not interested in having some compassion, maybe a different line of work like a tax auditor or something might be better suited.Jensen McConnell⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI’ve never been treated so well at any type of medical facility before. Everyone was so kind and caring. They made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process & got right to the point with taking care of my issue & sending me on my way. When I went in, there was no wait & I was seen immediately. I highly recommend!Lorri AxelsenWent in after I injured my thumb at pilates class. They diagnosed me with a sprained thumb. They gave me a splint and told me to ice it. The doctor did say that if it still bothered me in a couple of weeks she would refer me to Ortho. Anyway, they took X-Rays and told me it wasn’t broken. The correct diagnoses after visiting a real emergency room the next morning was that I had a complete tear of my collateral ligament (Gatekeeper’s Thumb) and a complete scapholunate tear in my wrist and a fractured thumb. You could clearly see the ligament curled up at the base of my thumb. I was immediately referred to a surgeon by the ER Doctor. I had surgery and was in a cast for weeks. I wouldn’t go to there again. I’d rather go to the ER and wait if I have to.Russell Long⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Depending on who you get, sometimes the doctors aren’t the most courteous but they usually have very short (if no) wait times and the care is usually good. I have 6 kids and 2 step kids and we live 5 minutes away so, as you can imagine, I’ve been here a lot haha.Dj Leger⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedExcellent service. A great doctor with common sense. (That’s not always the case). The nurse and reception staff was amazing. Very friendly with great service.Miss Molly Dubois⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe team took great care of my daughter and our Doctor was very knowledgable. Thank goodness for the entire teamWesam bakhatDr Jeltes was one of the rudest doctors I have ever meet in my life. When he entered the room he did not even say hi and he was unpleasant. He had a rude attitude and seemed to care little about my concerns. He seemed annoyed at the fact that I was there and wanted to hurry me out. I went to there at eleven o’clock at night because I was concerned and he made it seem like I was wasting his time. I hate hospitals and have not been to one in five years if I was not concerned I would have not been there. Never again and I am making a formal complaint with the hospital .likley nothing is going to be done but I will anyways . Doctors should not treat people this way and it was the worst experience I had in my life with a hospital.Samantha Bost⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had a very good experience here. Read many of these reviews before going and was a little hesitant. But the nurses were so friendly and nice even though it was 10pm. The Dr. I saw was great. Super understanding and actually listened to what I had to say and didn’t just brush me off like I somewhat expected after reading the reviews. Offered me a blanket and what not while I waited because the room was cold. Very thorough in their evaluation. My only problem was the front desk lady. My boyfriend and I both agreed that she seemed very snippy and rude and had some attitude towards me for no reason. But she’s not the one doing the medical work in the back so I guess it wasn’t really a big deal. Only had to see her going in and out. Would go again to this facility if needed and I would for sure recommend to othersAstrid Keith⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedVery professional. Very nice and caring. Very fast. Would recommend this ER to anyone.Lindsey Mears0 stars – High priced emergency room posing as an affordable and convenient urgent care center. Go at risk of your own financial safety. This place appears in searches for urgent care centers, looks like an urgent care, and operates like an urgent care. However, it is NOT an urgent care and services that would have been a couple hundred dollars at most at an urgent care will run you thousands at this place. We came here on New Years Eve because most other urgent cares in our area were shut down, closed for the holiday, or difficult to get to. We were there for about an hour, had no tests performed, and walked away with an eye drop prescription. Two months later we received a $2800 bill. When we asked for an itemized statement, we were told the only item on that statement was “facility fees.” To add insult to injury, the diagnosis was actually incorrect. It was a rather serious infection that needed medical attention and medicine to help clear up, but you wouldn’t have known that by how quickly they shuffled us out of the door without exploring other options. This is part of a recent trend of hospitals opening off-site emergency rooms that look and feel like urgent cares. People like myself and others looking for an urgent care are duped into going to these places and are then slapped with a massive bill. It’s downright dirty, but not against the rules. Just be aware that there’s a difference between the two and if you can possibly find a real urgent care instead of an emergency room, that’s what you should do. This place will not make it clear to you as they have a vested interest in NOT being transparent about their pricing or their true nature.Kenya HarrisBrought my 7 year old in for sharp stomach pains, he was seen 2 weeks prior and was advise by that doctor and his to take him back to ER if his condition worsen. The guy at front desk as well as nurse were great, but the doctor came into room with a horrible attitude. She barely look at me and barely touch my son when checking him, she gave her diagnoses, rip her gloves off and was about to just walk out. I ask her if she could do an ultrasound, or something, his pain has worsen since he was last in. She bluntly told me no, he doesn’t need it, and proceed to exit. I again stopping her and asking for more, advice, treatment, and what should I do if he pain gets worse. She told me to take him to another hospital and walk out!! SHE IS A DOCTOR AND COULDN’T CARE LESS MY A LITTLE BOY!!! I could only assume, she saw my son is on Medicaid, and/or because our ethnicity. So I had to take my son to another hospital to get the care he was needing. Regardless what her diagnoses was, her coldness attitude and demeanor was not trustworthy. Unfortunately I was upset, trying to get my son care, I didn’t catch the doctors name. I did call back, but the front desk could only provide me with her last name, Dr. Marsala.Tony PodsBeware, they don’t charge what the sign says. They charged me $1600 just to walk in and get no treatment other than a pain pill prescription. I believe the sign said $450 for the office visitJerry B. ReitanI came in for a severe migraine headache. The nurse who “cared” for me was rude and talked down to me as if I were a child. I dont know here name because her badge was conveniently turned around. She has short hair, moles on her face, and talks like she’s 6. I was crying, rated my pain at a 12 out of 10. Told them ( Dr. & nurse) I was nauseous and felt like I was going to throw up. They leave to go get the migraine cocktail. Never offered ice packs, a vomit bag, or turned off the lights even after I said I had light sensitivity. So I shut the lights off myself. I finally get to the point I need to throw up and I run to the trash can. After about 3 minutes of vomiting the nurse comes in, grabs a vomit bag and says, ” Here. I’d rather you get sick in here instead of my trash can.” After I picked my jaw up off the ground, I said excuse me? How am I supposed to know where your medical supplies is? I was just trying not to get it on your floor.” She asked me was I done yet? Did I even want this medicine for my headache?” I asked her if she treated all her patients as if they were children. She continued to threaten me with not getting my meds. When I explained I’ve had migraines for 25 years anything she tells me I already know, she says “So have I.” Her bedside manner was the worst I’ve ever experienced in my LIFE. I will not be returning to this facility EVER. And it used to be our family’s go to place in an emergency . Never ever again. Thanks to your extremely rude staff member that day. I dont even see how she’s allowed to work with people talking the way she was when someone is in extreme pain.Shabely Rojas⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI went in and was seen the minute I walked in, was treated immediately and was even given medication before I left. The staff was very friendly and very fast, I didn’t have my insurance card and they found me quickly. One of the cleanest emergency rooms I’ve seen. Very impressed.Kristy RushingWe intended to go to the Urgent Care and not the emergency room they literally did not treat me at all and we went to the Urgent Care and received the treatment that we were planning in the first place. We are from Oklahoma there for when we looked it up my husband thought the address for the ER was for Urgent Care and when we arrive we spoke to the receptionist and figure this out and then my insurance was charged eight hundred and something dollars and I was billed $399 of it and I have tried to fight it but they said since I came into their facility then they are charging me for the use of their facility. I am also mentally ill after a tornado in Oklahoma and they refused to let my medical power of attorney come back there with me while I was talking to the receptionist and the nurse is the ones who refused to let my husband speak to them even though I told him he is my legal power medical power of attorney. We did not receive any treatment yet we are still supposedly responsible to pay for no services rendered. I would not use this place ever again in my entire life and I have a large family we will just go to Penrose from now on if we have an emergency. The nurse also was a very nasty rude person who would not listen and acted like she really was not happy to listen to me tell her that we were at the wrong place like the receptionist w as talking to my husband and I about. This is the worst service of any kind I’ve ever received anywhere in any state.riham rihambakhat@gmail.çomThis clinic is so racist. The doctors are rude. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. Drive to the major hospital because this clinic is not worth the time. Horrible staff.Amelia DallDon’t bother going to this emergency room in the middle of the night, you’ll be greeted by a man who clearly doesn’t care about his patients. I presented him with a list of symptoms I’ve been experiencing the past few months and tonight, my ear/skull/jaw was especially painful, and he dismissed my pain because “there was nothing he could do” and for me to “see my PCP”. Without even checking anything on me, only the stethoscope. I had to tell him to check my ears. The whole visit literally was 10 minutes or less. Wouldn’t recommend this place. Also, may not be good for disabled people. May be because I also refused VRI (an ASL interpreting service) to assist them in understanding me. Because I could write, and they could, too.Debbie MarquardAnd I still say, shame on you! for masquerading as an Urgent Care. I just paid your bill for $1577.22. You did not tell my daughter you were out of network, you did not tell my daughter she would be billed Emergency Care prices. She had a urine test, and brief visit with the doctor who told her to go see someone else…. Fifteen Hundred Dollars! Shame on you! My daughter went here, thinking she was going to an Urgent Care. This is an Emergency Room facility, with the same rates as an in hospital ER would have. All they did was take her blood pressure and tell her to go see another doctor. She was sent a bill (the facility is also out-of-network for our insurance, which they didn’t tell her) for close to $2000.00. We won’t be back here again. This visit deserves a less than one star rating.Mark Finzel⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedFantastic alternative to hospital emergency rooms (and if all urgent cares are closed). I needed to visit urgent care on a Sunday night, and discovered they were all closed. Not wanting to go to the Hospital ER, I was grateful to find this location. What a great experience! Everyone there was courteous and friendly, from the front desk to the nurses & assistants, to the doctor who treated me. The entire process was pleasantly quick, and they seemed genuinely concerned about my illness. The doctor gave a quick and accurate diagnosis, and I had my prescription in good time as well. The up-front staff also gave a detailed explanation of billing and insurance options. Overall I couldn’t be more pleased, and will definitely recommend this UCHealth Emergency Room to anyone who needs this kind of service!nuba dalilThis is the most racist place I have ever been in. The doctors are rude and the staff is unprofessional. The rooms are dirty and I have never been treated so poorly for being a black person. They didn’t ask questions or cared about my health at all. I had to walk out because the treatment was so bad.katie marquardDO NOT VISIT!!!! THIS PLACE POSES AS AN URGENT CARE BUT IT IS ACTUALLY AN EMERGENCY ROOM!!! I had my blood pressure taken and was given a urine test. They told me to go to another doctor because they couldn’t help me. I gave the front desk my insurance information, and not only did the extremely unhelpful lady not tell me they were out of network, she didn’t give me any kind of price expectation. I was under the impression I would pay the copay and be done with it. I just received my bill for $2,000. I am extremely outraged and will be filing fraud within the week. Stay away from this place!!!!Bashier ElferganiA bunch of quacks!!!Dee M⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy husband and I began going to this Urgent Care facility last year…and have always been very pleased with the attentive and professional care we receive. We are greeted promptly and cheerfully. The staff is quick to attend to our issue. We highly recommend them.Peter Martinez⭐️⭐️I went here due to a fall on my dirt bike a few days prior for a simple x-ray. I had no idea this was a ER only and no one told me. I called before going in requesting an urgent care and they told me come in. I was in no emergency, just wanted an x-ray to see if my wrist was ok. Ended up with a $3,700 bill. VERY DECEPTIVE. I am ok paying UC Health, but do you really have to charge me $2,700 to sit there and another $1,000 for an x-ray. Just charge me non-emergency pricing. I did not use any of the emergency equipment. This was going on in Texas with a company called Adeptus Health. They filed for bankruptcy after a class action lawsuit. I have reported the deceptive claim practices to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment after no success of going directly through UChealth. I am more than happy to update my review if I am properly billed. 10/31 Update: After elevating my concern, the hospital is taking action and lowering my bill. I am waiting to see the end result. It took talking to a lot of people but moving in the right direction.barbara marlowe⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedFell and could tell wrist wasn’t just perfect. The people were incredible, kind, understanding and great explanations and very good! Very impressed! Would return to this facility again! Thank you so much.Micah Cousin⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedVery courteous staff, friendly. Very happy with the service provided. Very clean and professional staff helpful and very knowledgeable. I would recommend comming here for help. No wait time and a pleasure to work with. Thanks heros you guys are greatBrie GrovesWe had to go in for an ER visit to UCHealth (hemorrhaging while pregnant). Waited for 6 1/2 hours (20 minutes in an actual room), all for the doctor to stick his head in the door and tell us to we “were good to go”. We got billed $7,200 dollars for this. We didn’t even get a doctors consult, medication or report of what was wrong. Then, because they were wrong, I ended up back in the ER a week later — this time we went to a different ER where a radiologist and OBGYN looked at me, the doctor sat with us — explaining everything and we were in and out in 2 hours. The bill was $2,000 with much better treatment. I called UC for an itemized bill, then tried to fight the level of billing and inadequate coding. They rejected all of our appeals to the bill. The patient reps and billing department were rude and threatening. I don’t know where else to turn— but this is a story I’ve heard too many times with UCHealth.Mindy VaupelIf I could give this Urgent Care zero stars, I would. My 2 year old daughter had been vomiting for 3 days and that’s why I took her in.The guy at the front was great (Brandon) and I thought my experience would be great based off of him. It was awful. Both nurses that saw me acted as though they had no idea what they were doing. One of the nurses was RUDE. The second nurse was older, slow, and confused at times and totally messed up when giving my daughter a catheter. The Dr ordered medication that should not have been administered to children and she woke up a few hours later with a hive the size of my hand on her thigh. It was a horrible experience. Please do not go here. If you have no other choice, ask for Dr. McCoy. She was very helpful when I called about the hive and had wonderful manners. So for her case and Brandon’s, I’ll give it 1 star.BrittanyI was greeted with “how can I help you?” I let the girl at the front desk know I was there to get my daughter (who is 17 months) seen for flu like symptoms. She told me to fill out a form, then asked for my ID and proceeded to say, “We are considered an emergency room, so with that in mind do you still want her to be seen here?”.. Wait what!? First you imply that I don’t know where I brought my daughter.. And then look at me like FLU LIKE SYMPTONS are not serious enough to bring her in!? I look at her a little shocked and say YES.. She then says “ok well usually when we tell people that they leave”.. Um ok was I suppose to leave!??? Remind you in is a Sunday.. If it were Monday I would’ve went to my very knowledgeable and FRIENDLY Doctor!! Oh but it doesn’t end there.. The door opens and the nurse, I’m guesssing because she didn’t say anything, just looked at me and because we were the ONLY ones there I assumed it was for us.. I got my two girls together and went back to where she was at But she had walked away… So I entered the door and she was walking down the hall to another “Nurse” standing by the infant scale.. Mind You NOTHING has been said to me!!! So they are just looking at me.. So I put my daughter on the scale once again asssuming that what I was being looked at for!! They weighed here and once again started walking away towards a room, I followed but I was totally in shock by my treatment I have been receiving. We get in the room and she FINALLY says, “My name is Michelle I’m the nurse, so why do you think you are having an emergency today?” I let her know the details surrounding my daughters flu like symptoms and she takes her notes and say the Dr will be in shortly.. Still just shocked that I’m getting the cold shoulder I thought about walking out and letting them know how unprofessional and heartless their service is but I stayed. Again we were the only ones there yet we were there for over an hour and a half! Ridiculous! They ran no tests on my daughter just looked her over. The real Dr was nice, but I do not feel eased mu mind at all.. Diagnosed her with ” ACUTE BILATERAL MEDIA AND URI WITH COUGH AND CONGESTION” and sent us away with amoxicillin. Again no swabs or testing was done and when the Dr opened her mouth I’m the one who had to point out the red dots on the roof of her mouth because he missed it!! I have never been treated so poorly in my life and all because I am concerned with my daughters health!! YOU PEOPLE WORK IN THE HEALTHCARE FIELD BY YOUR CHOICE!! YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO HELP PEOPLE!! MAKE THEM FEEL IMPORTANT AND WELL CARED FOR!!! I SHOULD NOT BE WALKING AWAY WITH MY DAUGHTER WANTING TO TAKE HER SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GET A REAL DIAGNOSES!!! BECAUSE OF MICHELLE “THE NURSE” AND THE TIME NOT WELL SPENT WITH THE NICE DR I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS UCHEALTH CENTER!!Sso KI went in last Friday to get treatment. before I get in, I asked at the front desk lady how much my co pay is going to be….and she said she don’t know until I seen doctor, IF I ONLY KNEW I WAS AT THE EMERGENCY ROOM! I would left and go to Urgent care that I thought I was at the urgent care. I absolutely had no idea then Doctor saw me within 2 min. literally 2min saying time will heal……something not severe obviously, then when I was at the check out they said so your payment will be $400… I asked them It can’t be $400. still thinking I was at the urgent care. and then came to find out it was ER!!!……….. within 2 min visit with doctor and the staff at the front desk seems like they don’t know what they are doing can’t even give me answer for the simple question when patient asked question… that was horrible…my mistake that i didn’t read the sign saying ER. but yet they could told me at the front desk when I asked the co payment. but once again I felt like the staff was neglect of patient’s care…..but collecting money for nothing. It was horrible experience at UC Health ER…. I really hope no one has an experience like i had..Pamela Doyon⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe took our son to First Choice Emergency Room after he was injured while doing gymnastics. We were greeted by personable and helpful staff members and had no wait at all! The doctor and nurses were very knowledgeable and took time to answer all of our questions. Our son received outstanding care while at First Choice Emergency Room. And, the facility is exceptionally clean. The follow up was excellent – we received calls on two consecutive days after our visit, asking how our son was doing and answering any questions. In addition, the doctor’s office to which we were referred called the next day to set up an appointment. Overall, we felt very well cared for while at First Choice Emergency Room, and the follow up was great!Kristen Harloff⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis place is excellent. I’ve been in the middle of the night with a kiddo and early in the morning for myself. Whatever hour I come I’m seen quickly and have felt very heard, and taken care of. I was seen recently for a possible ectopic pregnancy. Not only did they rule out the possibility for me but the doctor and nurses both came in to take extra time to educate me on all the possibilities and helped weed through all the internet info to the real things to look out for. This was to no benefit for them but strictly to put my mind and ease and make sure I was informed. They felt like family. Will never take myself or the kiddos anywhere else.Marcy Katz⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe went to First Choice after a mountain biking accident and were very impressed with the great service we received. First Choice just opened in our neighborhood and we were greeted warmly as soon as we arrived. The nurses and doctor had good bedside manner and were professional, sincere, and comforting. The day after we were in the office, the doctor contacted us to ensure we were feeling better, and a few days after that, we received a really nice thank you note in the mail. We were very impressed with the service and care we received at First Choice and would recommend it for any emergency needs. SO much better than having to go to the hospital ER!T Mitchell⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy experience at the emergency room was a very pleasant one. My 2 year old daughter ran into the corner of the wall and got an extremely large lump on her head. I rushed her the E.R, which is literally across the street from my house. The nurse at the front desk was very helpful and extremely nice. The most we had to wait was 10 minutes and we were called to the back. The other nurse or I think what was on here badge was radiologist, was very sweet. Her warm caring spirit made my 2 year old feel relaxed and comfortable when she examined her and took her temp. The doctor came in after and was helpful and knowledgeable. Last the discharge nurse came in and gave us special directions for my baby and we were out of there. I believe the visit all together was about an hour if that. I highly recommend this E.R. All the staff members were wonderful and it was quick!Eske Carter⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis is an EMERGENCY ROOM, staffed by board certified Emergency Physicians, not an Urgent Care where you are likely to be seen by a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. They are open 24/7. So it is going to cost more than a visit to a regular medical clinic. Just be aware of that before you check in . This is the same kind of care you would expect from a hospital-based ER, with the same kind of billing rates. If you don’t need an ER, go to an Urgent Care or the Little Clinic at King Soopers. That said, this is a fantastic place to go get emergency care at any hour of day or night when you don’t want to wait forever in a crowded ER waiting area. The facility is sparkling clean and orderly and the staff is attentive, efficient, kind and informative. The physician and RN talk to you, explain things and make sure you know what to expect. The front office staff made sure we were comfortable and offered drinks to family. We had complete confidence in the physician and staff and thank them all for the care they provided.
