Before you go to UM St. Joseph Medical Center, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Towson emergency room think.
Iveta Ivanova⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedReally wonderful service. Went in for an infected cyst (and pregnant). The nurses and dr’s were so pleasant and wonderful. Drained my cyst, gave me the necessary medicine and instructions and was able to go home within 3 hours. The wait was definitely not as long as I expected. Highly recommend this hospital.Arielle Lewis⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedFrom the minute I walked in, the staff was lovely and sweet. I was in a lot of pain and there were many people in the ER, however I was called at a reasonable time. They were able to identify my issue and even comforted me through out the couple of days I stayed there. The nurses were sweet and understanding because I was anxious. I developed great and meaningful relationships with them. Thank you St. Joe’s for helping me feel better during my stay!!Chrissy Carmody⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy husband had arthroscopic knee surgery at St. Joseph’s yesterday, and the entire process was fantastic from checking through discharge. Every single person – Victoria who checked us in and took us to the surgeon section, our primary nurse (thanks Jeane!), physical therapist, other nurses/staff, surgeon, and the anesthesiologist were so friendly, professional, helpful, and well organized. And Chris and Curtis (post surgery/discharge) were awesome. My husband and I both agreed it was the best hospital experience either one of us has had (and we’ve had a few). A new standard has been set! Thanks St. Joseph’s.Kathy Smith⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedEveryone in the cardiac center was wonderful! They took excellent care of my husband while he was there. If ever I need anything heart related, I want to be at that center with that staff. Thank you for everything!!Nei Lucky⭐️⭐️Too many of the staff were not consistent with patient’s rights and proper procedures. They did not show respect for personhood and choice. Albeit there were others who demonstrated kindness and empathy, too many lacked competence and interpersonal skills.China Siperko⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had an amazing team when i delivered my little love. Midwife Eliza was there and i cannot say enough nice things about her. She was incredible. I also had a very amazing nurse, natalie, she was incredible and im confident that i wouldnt have made it through natural birth without these two ladies. They followed my birth Plan and respected me very much. Even when complications appeared with my delivery, these two women handled it so calmly that i didn’t feel worried all the burses i had after delivery were incredible i didn’t have a single complaintDiane Smith⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy Mom recently passed. The gentle care and concern of the doctors and nurses at the end of her life were so important to me and my family. We were given a lovely room with 2 nurses that cared for her until the end. Thank you so much!Irena Baram⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Great hospital with modern equipment. There are very annoying nurses in the labor and delivery department. At the same time, the staff is professional, I just would like to relax more after childbirth and not go through a lot of numerical surveys.Joe Smith⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI would trust my life to there emergency department before i trust any other emergency department in the ummc systemAlexander Yim⭐️⭐️⭐️Unlike MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center ER, UM St. Joseph Medical Center ER is not overcrowded with emergency patients. ER doctors and registered nurses are always busy, yet they are courteous and doing their best to provide immediate care to every patient. The hospital ER waiting room is spacious, clean, brightly lit, and provides free Wi-Fi (5GE). But do not expect to see a floor water fountain. Free parking slots are available nearby the main entrance (automatic revolving glass) door for the ER patients and visitors, but they are limited and a first-come-first-serve basis.Annette Williams⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedAmazing, I went in yesterday because I was having some breathing issues. The staff was amazing, even though it was quite crowded, they waited on me as if I was the only one there. You guys rock. Thank youAdnan FayyazTerrible service… it took them 3 overs to call our patient in after checking in with emergency. Very slow process. Please find a better life saving hospitalWill ShanklinI came into the emergency room with a life threatening infection in my throat, completely dehydrated. I need water so badly because every swallow felt like glass. The machine was completely out of bottles for sale, there was no water fountain, and the staff refused to bring me a simple request for a cup of water until my name was called. They did however question whether I belonged there or just wandered in asking for water. It was the most soulless, heartless, and medically irresponsible experience I’ve ever been part of. Even if I had just wandered in asking for water….I’m still a human being asking for water!! Shame on this hospital. They are the epitome of life for cash racket that our medical industry has become.Wynae Powell..I was born in this hospital and so I had my son here as well. Any emergency I encountered I went to St. Joseph. This last particular visit is what is prompting my review as I was treated more so like a drug addict coming in to get narcotics as opposed to someone who was just in a car accident and have a pinched nerve in my C5-C6 (neck) region. I kept having constant headaches and nerve pain that OTC’s and muscle relaxers wouldn’t help. As a certified pharmacy technician I am aware of what works for my pain and what doesn’t. I explained that I don’t take pain meds because I drive and have to be alert, however I requested them in this case of my pain levels. They were trying to offer me medication that I explained to them that I already tried and failed. The doctor even went as far as to try to school me (certified pharmacy technician) on the “opioid addiction crisis” that Baltimore is supposedly experiencing not realizing, he has a patient who is explaining why somethings may or may not work. I was just looking for relief not a 30 day supply! . I went to get relief from my pain only to not get anything but what I told them doesn’t work for me and to have to wait until I went to physical therapy for relief. They are just piss poor to me now. I don’t even have a history of visits of getting pain meds to even be treated as a person whose looking for narcotics. That is the reason why they get 1 Star and this thorough review of my visit. I will mention that I was seeing a spine specialist within the hospital who prescribed me Percocet for my nerve pain and it made me sick to my stomach and I informed him and asked for an alternative which was then refused. I practically had to use my pharmacy experience and knowledge and turn to holistic health and herbs that God put on the earth for us to use. FYI…..all the medications COMES FROM PLANTS! (The active ingredient in medicine that is). So, after dealing with all my nerve pain with no pain meds, it’s good to say thanks to herbal medicine I have been pain free and out of the hospital.Todd Bowman⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHad to go to ER after experiencing numbness on left side of face. Was taken to register almost immediately. That process was quick, easy, and painless. Got in to a room pretty quickly, where RN Kelly was fantastic. Professional, efficient, and friendly. Kelly and the rest of the staff made us feel comfortable and at ease. Quickly taken to tests, where Robert dropped me off, pleasant the entire time. Tests were done quickly and efficiently there as well. Back at room saw Dr. Demuth. He was thorough and efficient. He took his time to dig deep into my concerns. He explained tests and results clearly and in a non-condescending way. While I hope not to have to return any time soon, if the need arises, they are my first choice.Julie S⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedDr. Haerian within One West at St. Joseph’s Hospital provide top quality care. I was treated twice within four years by Dr. Haerian and both times he approached my case from a holistic point of view, accounting for not only for my acute symptoms but also the effects of past trauma, childhood experiences, and situational/environmental factors on those acute symptoms and ultimately my diagnoses. The intakes lasted over an hour and not once did I feel like he was not listening to me. If I had questions, I asked. Just like with any health professional, assertive communication is essential and I never felt threatened or unsafe if I asked a question, or as if I would be shut down or ignored if I disagreed with what he said. I felt extremely comfortable in all of my interactions with him. My only negative experience with him was when I baked banana bread, gave him a piece, asked him to grade it, and he gave it a “B” and not an “A.” He ultimately refined my diagnoses which had previously been inaccurate. Initially, I did not have a clear understanding of the diagnoses and he took the time to walk me through the symptomology of each one to make sure I agreed that they sounded appropriate. Having gone into social work since then and having a little bit more (but by no means perfect) understanding of psychopathology now, I am even more confident that the diagnoses are correct and that my previous psychiatrists had misdiagnosed me for years. Additionally, he put me on an appropriate number and doses of medications that greatly improved my quality of life while also ensuring that the side effects did not interfere whatsoever with that quality of life. Daily check-ins while I was in both inpatient and outpatient treatment ensured that I was not experiencing any negative effects from the meds. Those daily check-ins give Dr. Haerian as well as all other doctors and NPs at St. Joe’s the ability to provide an excellent level of monitoring and superior quality of care for all patients. However, patients also have a level of responsibility to speak up if they are experiencing side effects, if they have questions or concerns, or if they do not feel like their expectations are being met in order to take advantage of that superior quality of care. Doctors, just like all human beings, are not mind readers. I think that another thing that says a lot about a doctors as professionals is who they choose to work with, and how effective their teams ultimately provide care. Dr. Haerian chooses to work within an amazing and irreplaceable team at St. Joe’s. All of the nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, occupational therapists, and everyone else who I interacted with on the unit were instrumental in my treatment and I know they have been instrumental in the treatment for countless others as well. I don’t think that five stars is enough for the team there, but it’s all Google’s got.Jac Rewards5 hour wait. Flu symptoms, stiff neck, nauseated, and tired. Just what the doctor ordered…. Philip Resch⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was in and out in 2 hours on a week day. I have zero complaints. Everyone I encountered was pleasant and helpful. I had a cyst opened and a drain installed.Anonymous UserI had an awful experience there…..I do not recommend. ThanksJason CulliganI was completely miserable with the way I was treated. The RN s were sadistic wheni can tine for my ivs. The machines weeren to 0t working but the did t care. I have bruises up the arms and had a plethora of dialed ivs. I came here who possible blood poisoning and woundd up up feeling worse. Unnecessary iv, bad locattions and my body would t accept the . I cannot witito speak with leagal counse. The Professional Credit DivaUsually quick, fast, and excellent service. Today it is horrible!!!! Been here since 7pm, it’s now 2am, abs still not finished!!! This place has really gone down!!!!!!! Received 1 star because you have to rate it!Vamprenia DutchessAsked nurse for a famidtodine for my acid reflux she said ok but never brought it.They lied to me and said it wouldn’t take long now they took 2.5 hours now.Young nurse girls very extremely lazy.catherine gosnellNo doctor in this emergency room been here 4 1/2 hours only saw a physicians assistant & nurses…do not come here if you want the best careSteven GowerI can’t even justify one starring this hospital facility. Came to the ER or chest pains. All of my EKGs have always been abnormal but for some reason I had one done here and when it was taken back to the doctor for immediate review it was advised it was normal and I could go back to the waiting room. No way that could’ve been true. Ended up ditching this place after waiting in the small disgusting waiting room for five hours. For a Baltimore area hospital the waiting room is entirely too small and dilapidated. Patients were literally helping other patients to the bathroom. It was the saddest thing I’ve ever seen all the while security watched and laughed at patients. Then the charge nurse comes out and says they are trying their best to move along and are even keeping extra staff past 11pm. Like what people don’t have emergencies last 11pm? Long story short ended up at GBMC where I was immediately taken through the emergency room and properly diagnosed in what St. Joseph staff missed and was clearly malpractice. Please do yourself a favor if you want to add a couple more years to your life and go straight to GBMC instead of this joke of a hospital! And to think it’s named after St. Joseph ha!Maureen WardAwful billing department. They send bills out 6 months late, and then when you pay them they send your name to collections. When you call to SPEAK to anyone with a clue how a hospital is run… you are offered 5 different phones numbers that take you to people unrelated you why you are calling. Ask to speak to someone is customer service to give feedback of how lousy of a process this is? They neglect to give you any information of additional phone numbers. They are about your money… not you as the patient. Run faster than hell from this place.veronica natale⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedVery quick to respond and the team was very thorough and knowledgeable. Drive almost an hour to go to this hospital rather then the ones in my county. Thanks guys and as my Grandson says your great!Ben McClung⭐️⭐️I’ve taken my elderly parents here numerous times as it’s convenient to the location of their home. The wait times are atrocious, even with my father in great pain… They offer little to know help. Once you get past the er, things go much smoother. But getting to a triage room or seeing a doctor is painfully difficult. Unacceptable in my opinionlori mansfieldOne star is a little much spent four hours here with my hubby having difficulty breathing and he was never seen after we watched about ten people go ahead of him who clearly were not as bad as he was never will I ever go here again I could have driven him back to Salisbury to our local hospital the time we spent in this er the worse place ever don’t go hereRyan JonesAll of the psychiatrists are coked and doped outMohammed AgbodjogbeWorst ER in the country . Been here since 1 am haven’t see a doctor or nurse it’s slmost 5 am I end up leaving with my back pain .Katie VeaderIt was a great ER when I needed to go there about 10 years ago. I was shocked at the level of care and service I received. It has dramatically worsened. I would costch another ER if possible. Long waits without explanation, nurses turn off your calls to the nurse’s station without ever coming to check on you, etc.John White⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI don’t know about broken bones waiting times but if you have chest pains this is the place to go. These guys are great! Professional, thorough, fast and friendly.Mary MagroganI can’t find the main hospital phone numbetAlex Zhangworst er, less helpful and soooo slow! we were wait for 6 hours and I told nurse the patient is feel really bad and they still do nothing! worse and slow is all the er can do?Unified, Love, Helping and HealingThis hospital is unprofessional and unethical, I was wrongfully terminated as retailation. Because I reported racial discrimination, bullying of myself and another co-worker. I reported physical and verbal abuse towards psych, homeless and substance abuse patients. Don’t go to the ED here, it’s awful place to take yourself or a family member. I am working with the ACLU on this everyone so it can be rectified properly, since the people that work there dont want to take what I say seriously.Mark Wingrat⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedTrust that you will be in competent, professional and caring hands. You’ll be treated with respect as the gifted staff do exactly what they need to do to save your life or whatever the case may be….phenomenal ER staff & Dept!!!Mary GustaveI had surgery to have some vertabrae fused in my neck. The doctor and his surgical team were fantastic and took great care of me. On the other hand, when I got to my room and was turned over to the nurses, I was treated like a person in jail. The attitudes and laziness of the nurses were unaaceptable and is an embarrassment to this fine hospital. They were more concerned with doing their reports than ensuring I was comfortable. I was neglected when I was feeling nauseaous from the pain meds. It took about 45 minutes to get the anti-nausea drug so by then I had vomited. Not one nurse attempted to make sure that my bedding and gown were clean afterward, they just threw a towel at me. Luckily it was only on the socks that go with air inflation machine, which I noticed later. After all I had a poorly fitting neck collar that was way too big and I couldn’t even see anything anyway so they should have checked on me fully to see that I wasn’t laying in my own vomit. This just one example of the horrible treatment I received so If you ever have to stay in the hospital overnight I recommend using a different hospital so youdon’t have to suffer these lazy, ignorant nurses like I did.Chas 99Worst emergency room every I came in because I was bleeding from an abcess the triage nurse never even looked at It i spent 3 hours waiting room and there were only 4 patient in the emergency roomGeorge Cook3 hours for an x-ray. There were more people working than patients, and when they finally remembered us there was no apology for the long wait- just a couple people trying to be funny. No consideration for any obligations or concerns we had.Ammar MahmoodWaiting time is a century even if you have an urgent case, I believe calling 911 is more convenient!Laurie TestaOne star is probably too much for their ER. I went their 10 days after having knee replacements 2 years ago. Long story short I was left in an ER room for 13 hours and almost died. They kept telling family it was a medicine reaction when in fact it was sepsis. I couldn’t move my arms and legs. I begged for help , screamed and yelled alot. I could not use the call button I was in so much pain. I was eventually moved to another room for being loud and I don’t remember much after that. My husband came back in early A. m. to find me still in the ER and nit in a room as they told him I would be. He had to call my orthopedic , attorney and hospital advocates to get answers. They finally called for ICU Dr. Thank God for that. Dr Soriano you saved my life!! I had a minor heart attack because I had an infection and Was not being treated for it after 13 hours. My husband was told they were doing everything they can to save his wife . Really? There were some really horrible Drs. And nurses there and I wish I was coherent enough to remember their names because they really need to find another profession.Mason MWait time is unbearable, I mean absolutely terrible. One star is way too generous for the ER. Probably be faster to drive to another hospital.Rimma Yeliseykina⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedVery fast , take me right away , polite, courtesy professionalSusan JamesThis hospital has the worst emergency room. We were referred to the hospital by Patient First because they could not treat my mother. The receptionist Jason who waited on us was rude and unprofessional. My mother is very sick and tired yet we have been waiting in hard chairs for hours. I guess a good treatment and bedside manner is no longer required.KAREN CHANCEFamily Waiting for past 3 hours after being taken in to back of emergency area. No doctor now have to wait until shift change… A pathetic assembly of care providers…not the 1st time. Unfortunately we will have to drive further to get to hospital that has more than 1 doctor in the ER unit.Angel LiThe receptionist was sooooo rude it was unbearable. We saw a guy laying there looking uncomfortable and I asked him what’s wrong. He said that he’s been waiting for hours and no one is treating him. I asked the lady how long the wait is and she said very long because there are no doctors. Horrible attitudeMichelle Horseman⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedJust had a cervical fusion and the staff as a whole couldn’t have been better! From check in to pre-op to overnight stays everyone has been attentive and communicative with me. It’s all avout the patient’s comforfort and needs. While I didn’t eat a lot due to nausea from the meds, what I did have was fabulous. When I couldn’t eat what I ordered the nurses brought me applesause to help out. I was checked on by thd surgeon, nurse practionier and nurse case manager no les than times. They lived up to their reputatation on being a good hospital and I wouldn’t think twice avout having a procedutere here in the future or referrn someone else here.Chandra ShresthaWaiting 5hours at emergency and I m still waiting like stupidScutter ButterI came here today to visit my pastor at 1:05pm(Sunday)and the female at the information desk was very very very disrespectful.
