Before you go to University of Mississippi Medical Center, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Jackson emergency room think.
JACQUELINE WRENThe medical staff were phenomenal when my mother was a patient there. Gunner, the patient care tec was awesome! 2N staff overall are great people. The problem I’m having now is from Medical records. I have requested several times for my mother’s medical records to be forwarded to our insurance company but they have failed miserably to honor my request. My mother passed away 7 month’s ago and we have yet to settle an insurance claim due to the lack and incompetence of UMMC’S Medical Records department. This is very frustrating and it saddens me to know that these people are so incompetent or they just don’t care about what my family and I are going THRU. It should not take this long for them to provide the paperwork we have requested. Jacqueline Wrensunny Days⭐️⭐️They have great doctor’s, but slow service. Went through the waiting room waited 5 hours in the back in a freezing room. They kept saying we’re waiting for a room to open up. Kept me NPO the next morning. No food till 5 that evening. CTscan was finished by noon. My doctors said I can discharge ASAP. Didn’t leave till 6:00 Friday evening. The staff is super slow bad communication but great doctors.Darius BuckleyDo not I repeat do not go to this hospital. Just don’t, unprofessional and they do not know what they are doing. Do not take your love one here, you will be treated like an inmate and you love one will get worst.Breton Handy⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis is without a doubt the best service I’ve ever had as a patient at a hospital. Went to the ER on Sunday with excruciating stomach pain, they ran some scans, found I had a bad appendix, and took it out within a couple hours. Someone was in my room at least every ten minutes making sure I had everything I needed and that all my questions were answered. Someone brought me a delicious meal at 1AM because I wasn’t well enough to eat when they were serving dinner. The morning after the surgery, the entire surgical team came to check up on me and make sure I was doing alright. I don’t live in Mississippi (was in Jackson on a trip), but if I need anything done in the future I’d definitely come back here.Sandra Bledsoe⭐️⭐️Wait time is pass horrible. Waited over 6 hrs just to get in room and another 4 after seeing doctor. Not to MENTION In the middle of conversation with doctor… of course he gets a phone call on cell phone. Literally UMC is better than that ,and I know it can be. I’m so disappointed in the service. . My family member don’t even want to come back there with me. Can’t say I blame her …after 10 hrs of them lagging around. It’s no way as a medical professional ..I could sit around and know service is this slow and not think about the patient. Besides that is what keep the doors open!Iamthenurse88⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe staff was awsome…they really care about the patients!!!Shelah Reeves⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe cardiology department saved my life. Literally saved my life. All of my doctors are at UMMC and I never wait to be seen. I usually am called back almost as soon as I get checked in. In my opinion, they are the best of the best.Betty MobleyMy son rushed to university hospital yesterday morning, 5/21/19 early. He was in so much pain, he went out without shoes. He drove himself there. He pulled up to the emergency room and was walking in, doubled over, and the security told him to move his vehicle, they could clearly see he could hardly walk! They watched him walk to his car and then back to the ER. NEVER EVEN BOTHERED TO GET HIM HELP, NOTHING!! He had his appendix out 2 hours later. He wasn’t faking being in pain! Amazingly to everyone, he was discharged from the hospital about 5 hours after surgery!!!! I suppose because he doesn’t insurance! He got half way home and was in so much pain he called an ambulance to take him back! After sitting in tHE ER in pain he called my sister to come pick him up! He was sitting in a chair by the entrance a policeman or security told him to wait in the ER or leave. My son told him that he’d just had surgery and was waiting for his ride and his phone was dead and he was afraid she couldn’t find him and he’d miss her. The policeman started yelling at him and then had him escorted off of the property!! SERIOUSLY!! He could not hardly walk.. they made him walk to state street where he was in so much pain he was crying and had to lay down on the sidewalk! That is how my sister found him!! I really hope that no employee of any organization ever treats any of his family in this manner,, It’s despicable! NOW! Would it have hurt ANYBODY, for him to sit there for 5 more minutes, maybe even less! This policeman or wanna-be policeman should NOT, be working at a hospital that does take care of their patients. Very disappointed that the University Hospital that would employ a person that is so insensitive to sick people that come into the ER! I pray to God I never, ever have to go to the University ER and encounter such treatment from a non caring employee of the Hospital, and I pray that none of my family does either!Karen HarperWent to the emergency room at 4pm and still n there at 1015 seen no doctor yet 12 call me n to a room and they just left andjasmine Morris⭐️⭐️⭐️Well the services went all the best in the emergency room. But overall the stay was ok. Our room was very small with one chair and no table. Then was moved into another room it was bigger but no shower curtain.Cynthia HarrisonThis is the worst place ever. My sister n law id in this place under sedation and they have men coming to give her baths. HIPAA violations for real. Patient or their families have no rightsLatosha BennettSuper horrible!!!! There is no need for this hospital anymore! I’ve been in this E.R. since 5 p.m. and it is 1 a.m.! Just had my vitals rechecked 12 a.m…. They only have 2 E.R. doctors because of the holidays! News flash!!! This is a hospital and it never closes! You all chose this profession and should be ready to work on all occasions! These conditions are just inhumane!!!Angela HelomNurses have bad attitudes. tried to sneak my friend a laxative (glad my friend was asking questions) . they left IV’s in my friend’s arm for a WEEK WITHOUT CLEANING THEM! he can’t even burp without being in pain. pitiful , poor , sad .Blake WalkerWorst hospital ever! Sat in the waiting room for 2 hrs with a pin sticking out of my knee. A pin from a surgery they did! If you like living go somewhere else! I’d give them less but I’m required to give at least 1 Star to leave a comment. I will be calling a lawyer tomorrow about this horrible hospital and their malpractice!Terri Cosby⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI stayed with my sister for 21 hours in the E.R. The doctors, nurses and staff never stopped trying to find out what was causing her seizures. They have been great and extremely hardworking and diligent. God bless them all.Terri Cosby⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedBecause they made sure they kept my sister until they found out what was wrong and how to fix it. They are great. Everyone i met was doing the best they could to help the sick and injured and their families.Rae JonesThe level of care that I have been a witness to the last few attempts I’ve taken to be seen here is disgustingly subpar. The wait times are horrible; if you don’t stay longer than 10-12 hours, you aren’t likely to be seen. IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE AN EMERGENCY ROOM! Not a “sit and wait until your a** goes completely numb and you end up in worse shape than you came in” room. I used to recommend this place to anyone that asked, but never again. DO BETTER!! **if I could leave a 0 star rating, I would have.Ed HicksThe worst experience in my entire 60 years, 41/2 hours and never saw anyone. No one was seen in 4 1/2 hours. We were from Gulfport and my friend fell ill, after all the time wasted I drove him to Memorial and was seen in less than 20 minutes. The guards were the rudest people I have ever seen, they don’t realize nobody wants to be there. If I ever get sick in Jackson Mississippi, please let me die, it’s just not worth the aggravation. I had an appointment there next month for a condition of my own, but not anymore.Denise SclaterWorst hospital I’ve ever been in my life the guards treat people like dogs. The interns are over worked and the rudest I’ve ever seen..I went for a doctor appointment got up to get a drink of water was attacked had my arm twisted bad buy a fat lady that work there then was charged with trespassing at my doctors appointment….Hispital needs a new vice chancellor since Dr. Keaton retied..it went to the dogs..I’d die before I went here..Wait time is as long as 15/20 hours no matter what’s wrong I’ve seen people dead in the waiting room…that unreal..I saw a person snatch a drip out of a person arm and run with the drugs..severely needs a over haul big time….Jacob GBeen waiting 6 hours here and still haven’t been seen.Kristen Williams⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI usually don’t post but let me start with the staff was amazing. Through reading articles about how badly a pregnancy / delivery can go, I can’t thank y’all enough. I went for a doctor’s visit and they wouldn’t let me go home because they detected my pressure had suddenly gone up. I was diagnosed with toxcemia and immediately admitted to the delivery unit. What was suppose to be a little check up turned into a scary nightmare. This was my first child and I honestly didn’t know what to do. They told me and my husband that they needed to monitor my pressure and my babies heart beat. I’m so glad they didn’t let me leave because that night my son wrapped the umbilical cord around his neck three times, my pressure spiked and they had to do an emergency surgery. They talked to and my husband ever step of the way. After I had my son, my blood dropped drastically and they made sure I received blood. My nurse Mrs. Susan on the delivery floor was so amazing, she made feel like I was her only patient. On the third floor my other nurse Mrs. Susan, yes I had two Mrs. Susan ,also did an amazing job. The highlight was that while my son was in the intensive premiee unit and the nursery those nurses took such great care of Yahnnie. The doctor’s took time out to always explain new information to me or one my family members. It’s been a while but one of his nurses was Mrs. Heather and his Dr. Was Mrs. Katie, but there were so many others that helped to get him home in two weeks. I don’t remember all the names but thank you from the bottom of my heart because my little bundle of joy wouldn’t be here if Yah (God) hadn’t sent such remarkable people/staff to help aid in my newest addition. Thank y’all for not just doing your job but doing it well. Thank you for stepping in and showing my son love and compassion on the days when I wasn’t able to be there bc I lived in Louisiana.Thank you for reading to Yahnathan and writing beautiful little letters to him making him feel special like I would. Because of y’all we can look at our 6 1/2 month son and give him all the love that we have always long to give. Thank youTería WilliamsMy husband and I went to the emergency room here (12-16-18) in regards to pain he was having in his ankle after an accident he had at work. The wait time was not a problem because of the seriousness of his ankle pain. My husband was seen by 2 different doctors once he was escorted to the back (Dr. Brian W Overstreet, NP “The Main Doctor”), both doctors assured that he only had a sprain ankle and even advised that he could still go to work on the sprain ankle stating ” The more you walk on the ankle the better it will be.” The doctor prescribed pills for the swelling in his ankle and wrapped it up ( no x-ray was done to insure that his ankle wasn’t broken). Today my husband’s job sends him to the MEA Clinic for a second opinion/to clear him medically to work. The MEA doctor immediately gives him an X- ray and see that his ankle is clearly broken and if he would have continued to walk on the broken ankle it would have caused even more damage. He was also prescribed the right medication for pain and etc. Unlike what UMC prescribed (pills just for swelling). UMC needs to get better with the carelessness of its patients. This is not the first time I’m sure of this false diagnosis given by UMC. This is very serious!!!!People are coming in need of answers with serious health issues and emergencies, if you doctors don’t want to be professional and do your job then find another career. If you can not take pride in what you do to insure the wellness of your patients then caregiving/medical field is not the job for you. People are depending on your professional/medical opinions and diagnoses to help with the maintenance of their health. I’m very disappointed in the treatment we received along with the unnecessary doctor bill and medication we had to pay for; ((WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY)). -Would post photos but it’s not allowed in the comments.Haley ExstedRudest staff I’ve ever experienced!!! Never will i go there again, ever!Richard Mann⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️My friend was in there she was pregnant and had her baby.kross cotton⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedTook me in asap had to surgery few days laterPriyalpreet Babber⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThey have the best doctors, and really cooperative and helpful.Gina CreppelThis hospital is the worse I have ever been to, an the staff is not at all caring about the people who go to there ER. I brought my brother there yesterday,he has been having numbness in his right hand and arm,an we sat there from 2pm til 10 pm an had not seen a doctor! I don’t understand why they let people who are I’ll sit there an wait for that long! So thank u UMC for nothing, your hospital really sucks an y’all don’t care about people!
