Before you go to Vidant Medical Center, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Greenville emergency room think.
Mya ElizaaUnfortunately, my experience here is not as excellent as the Children’s ED. I just turned 19 and am no longer able to go to that ED anymore. My IV had been done for 30 minutes and I started to bleed into it. Never got nausea meds on time, called nurse multiple times and nobody ever came. Been here since 10:13 am and I’m ready to go home 🙁Emily KendallWorst hospital experience….they may do the jobs accurately and professionally but there is absolutely no communication between doctor n patient period. Was told patient would be discharged at 12pm its 345pm nurse finally came back to station and is messaging doctor to find out if patient being discharged today or not. It’s a 50/50 I live almost 2hrs away. This is ridiculous..Alfonso Ruiz⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWe have a baby in the NICU the staff are very friendly and helpful. They made sure we had a room and informed us about the ronald house and semper fi options. Awesome staff.Ayanna Tyson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWas seen today due to a motor accident I had to wait seven hrs to be seen by Nicholas Brandon MD , Amy Gilleland MD and Hannah RN and they was super nice was VERY compassion and check to make sure I was ok Gilleland went out her way to make sure I had my medicine to get well I really appreciate what they did because I was very Shaken up by my accident.Lawrence Foster FosterThe Problems start with your entrance into the ER Department. The triage or screening department can be done with an RN or a Nurses aid however the RN will sign off on your Triage . They miss use the triage system in so many ways . I have gone in by ambulance and was then seated in the waiting room for hours . No matter what you and your primary care physician decide it is up to a triage nurse . I have asked my Primary Care Physician to call ahead as I was to sick to sit in the ER all day . When you get to see an ER doctor it most certainly will not be attending Physician. The attending may sign your chart after you leave but do not expect a visit from the attending during your visit to the ER . Residents are utilized to make all the decisions. Never ever are you admitted to the Hospital. I was sent home twice after having a heart attack. It was days or even months latter that I found out that I had a heart attack. Urgent care maybe your best change unless you need a trauma surgeon. The ER is not worth your time .What makes this worse is your own Primary care physician has no say if you should be admitted or not . The ER has to be your worst choice in medical care for sure !Glenda PerryVidant Emergency should be ashamed. Long story short because my last rant did not post. We waited for 5 hours 15 minutes before we decided to leave the facility. If you are having a true life or death emergency, you may die waiting for a doctor. I am at a loss for words. Thankfully I don’t live in Greenville.ChapterX2001Worst ED I have ever been in. People that check you in don’t give S—-, some of them are rude and arrogant. No wonder they have such a HORRIBLE rating. Wish I could figure a way to say worse things.. Sorry and an embarrassment to Pitt CountyBrandon HudsonThis place needs to be shut down. Terrible service and not a single worker cares about their job. You walk in with an issue and they complain that you came. This entire facility need to be completely re staffedcheyenne shorrible facility. the first experience i had with them was when my partner was having severe kidney pain and was wretching and in misery. she was brought in an ambulance and was in a wheelchair. the other patients were very scared for her. it was not busy. we were not seen for four hours. the time actually spent in the emergency room was roughly another 4-5 hours. a nurse only came by twice, after my incessant pleading for them to do something about her pain. when i would go and see where the nurses are, there were 6-7 of them all hanging out together, laughing and talking like nothing mattered! and the second experience, we did not even get into the emergency room. came in for adrenal insufficiency problems, needed a test done asap. four hours of waiting later…..and nothing. no other patients were called within a 2 hour period. i asked the front desk why, no real answer, and back to her cell phone she goes….. i hate this place. do not come here unless you like the idea of dying in a waiting room.John BrownNurses and doctors were nice, but the wait time is sssssssssssssssllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwMaxSat us in the waiting room for 5 hours, repeatedly lied about when we would go back for an ultrasound. Terrible terrible patient service.Angela AndersonThis place is unorganized and slow as a turtle.. I think I will take my chances elsewhere next timetree roboThey burned me a new one, dont go there if youre not rich,my wife had a lipoma about the size of a quarter removed , the Dr. should have done it in his office but said he needed to do it in an out patient, after about 3 hours in the out patient i had a bill from Vidant for over 9,000 dollars and the anesthesiologist 1,400 dollars and the Dr. 1,200 dollars cost almost 12,000 dollars for about 3 hours in and out, think they had this excessive bill cause i had insurance, but they dont pay it all left me over 2,000 dollars out of my pocket money, I told them they ran a big bill on me cause I had insurance that had I been a drug dealer or gang member and been shot or stabbed it would be free cause they will never get a dime from them, I think WITN ought to do a story on these excessive bills.K. B. Davis⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThere is no excuse for a lack of empathy. I know that is something every single hospital works on with their employees. I know someone who works there, and he has shared with me the monumental efforts and training they do all the time on their core values, which includes a focus on empathy. It is important to remember what these people face every day. Many patients are abusive. ONLY police have a higher occurrence of intentional workplace violence and harm. Lots of people react with, “well if they don’t like it, they should quit”. They are. We have never- not even during world wars had a greater shortage of healthcare workers. Especially nurses. Wait times are terrible. However, the number of people who financially cannot afford to pay for healthcare services make it very difficult to afford to expand services to cover the demands. However, the country as a whole does nothing to combat the epidemic of factors contributing to the creation or worsening of population health. Food that is terrible for you is often cheap, and filled with addictive fat, salt and sugar. We are at the crisis point with population health, and that is why systems like Vidant are urging us to start taking care of ourselves, instead of expecting them to do all the work of taking care of us. No health system is perfect. While some of my encounters with Vidant have been frustrating, the overwhelming majority have been incredibly positive. I wish they did a better job of advertising that they are a not for profit company, and talk about the hundreds of millions of dollars they have gifted to our communities.Jason ReissThis is THE WORST ER experience we have EVER had!!! DO NOT GO HERE IF you can help it. Have been waiting for 7.5 hours and still not been seen. The Vident administration needs to look into the ER management.Abe Youssef⭐️⭐️A few good Doctors and Nurses that have helped before but many of the staff show no interest or empathy in their patients. All night we heard the staff laughing joking using profane language while patients are audibly suffering. Very unprofessional. Extremely long wait times in the room after being seen when it was not very busy. Gosh I sure do miss PMH.Katey Ramsey⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThis was my first experience with an ER and I was by myself. Everyone from the front desk, to the nurses and doctors, and the CT personnel were very caring, understanding and efficient. I was lucky enough to go in while it wasn’t really busy, around 8:30 in the morning. The process of addressing my kidney stone took all day, but everyone worked hard to keep me comfortable through the process. The patient must remember the constant juggling these professionals must do all the time!L. Squared⭐️⭐️I hate this poor excuse for a hospital. The nurses don’t understand the concept of triage. I was brought in on an ambulance, I had been in a wreck where my car had rolled over and was upside down in a ditch. I had a concussion and possibly a broken neck. I was not given a neck brace, and no one cared that with one wrong move from the point of the break down I would have been paralyzed. I sat in the lobby for two hours. It took me threatening to barf on the registration desk and my mother raising Cain to get anyone to notice the bad condition that I was in. My wreck was at 5:30 and I didn’t get put in a room until 8:00, they were not busy either. The other patients in the lobby were more worried about me than the poor excuses for medical professionals that this horrid place hires. Once I finally got a room the staff were very worried about my possibly broken spine. They put me in a neck brace and didn’t want me moving too much or sitting up too high in bed. Why did it suddenly matter after two and a half hours of no care what-so-ever. Once I did get a room everyone was very attentive. That’s the only reason why this poor excuse for a hospital is getting two stars instead of one. Vidant had better be happy that I didn’t have a broken spine, all I had was a concussion from hitting my head on the roof of my car. If my spine had been broken, I would have been in a lawyer’s office the next day. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE TOO. I’m certain that they would let you die in the lobby of the emergency room and not care.Belinda ChavisEmergency department totally sucks. If I could give them 0 stars I would. My brother was there with a sugar level over 700 and was kept waiting in the lobby over 3 hrs. Once he finally got called back, the male nurse he had was down right awful and uncaring. Left the room and acted as though he didn’t wanna come back or do his job. I don’t know if it was just the weekend staff like this or what. The young doctor didn’t know anything either because what he was saying went totally against his primary doctor. Hours later when he was finally in a room and saw someone else, they explained how the young doctor was WRONG and finally got things on track. This place can be horried. Vidant needs to do ALOT BETTER. Emergency department, an incompetent joke.Ed HuntMy father stayed in the emergency waiting room with 100% blocked arteries and at the door of death; and it has been over 8 hours now. They should rename the Emergency Room as Morgue instead, because you will be waiting an eternity before you are ever seen.Smilez206⭐️⭐️My wait time was better than the last few times I was seen within an hour. When I first went back I loved my nurse and the doctor that I saw they were friendly and had me feeling better as soon as I went back so I had to go get an ultrasound done and that experience was good the lady who did my ultrasound was an angel but when I went back to my room the nurse I had first was gone so I had a whole different nurse that didn’t check on me didn’t inform doctors about anything she was very lazy I waited for 5 hours before I knew what my results were I spent a total of 9 hours in the ER the lazy nurse didn’t even come in the room to let me know her shift was over she never checked on me overall this place isn’t that bad just depends on what time you go and who your nurses are.Jessica H⭐️⭐️⭐️Applied for a job at a clinic. already work for VMC and was told they haden’t started interviewing but a family friend got a job over me with no experience because she worked at the local washington hospital. I guess it’s who you know. So much for equal opportunity employeer…Angela WynneDo not go to this place if at all possible. I had critical issue that needed immediate treatment for survival and was put waiting. Left never seen. Later blood work came back of the immediate need for treatment. I then called doctor on call and given instruction. I was in extreme pain and body shutting down. I could have gone into cardiac arrest I have been told. ECU PLEASE SEPARATE AND BUILD ANOTHER EMERGENCY ROOM IN GREENVILLE. THEY ARE GIVING YOU A VERY BAD RATING!!!! WNCT TV9 PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS PLACE. SOMEONE PLEASE HEAR AND SEE AND REPORT THIS PLACE. I had to press a star to review. They are not even that. We have no other place to go in Greenville for emergency care. PLEASE SOMEONE WHO IS ABLE TO STEP IN AND HELP US AS A COMMUNITY! Once beyond emergency department though there are some people, departments are more helpful caring and get you back to wellness. I am concerned to have to return and concern for the well-being of others in emergency need till the emergency department issues triage procedures and overall attitudes are improved. What other choice do we have?Mike Atieh5 hr and still waiting, after a car accident…C BThe WORST hospital experience EVER. The Drs need way more training and the nurses obviously need to pay more attention in class. Went in for a VBAC and they had me lying there with an infection. The Dr broke my water too early and the nurse acted so clueless when I told her I was in pain.Michael HigginsCame in for severe abdominal pain and have been waiting to be seen for 5.5 hours so far and still haven’t been seen. I’ve been sitting in pain only for them to tell me two more people 2 hours ago. This is the worst ER experience I’ve ever had your better off just going to the doctors office even if it’s the next day.mermaid kittyI’m here with my dad now Been here 7 hours over 4 just waiting for a hospitalist to admit him. The staff act like they could care less if they take care of you are not! There excuse is “we are short staffed and only one Care partner for 30 patients” and that is my problem how? Hire enough people to care for your patients You certainly do not mind sending us those high hospital bills!!!Christopher HaynesIf I could give 0 stars I would this place doesn’t give a dam about any of its patients.Pam Misenis⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedGreat treatment, care partners, nurses, and doctors!Christopher McMurrayCrazy wait times. People working in the lobby are loud and obnoxious while laughing and carrying on when there are clearly sick people with headaches in the waiting room. Sitting here, feeling like I’m in a Somali or African hospital, waiting to see some witch doctor.Philip Bruce⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI don’t think anyone actually enjoys going to an emergency room based on the fact that you need to be going to an emergency room. However, my experience this morning leads me to believe that this this is by far the best emergency room staff, doctors, and nurses that I have experienced in an emergency setting. From the security the security guard to the staff assistant who checked me in to the nurse and doctors that treated me, I could not have asked for a more more emotionally intelligent, caring, and professional staff who listened to my to my my problem and provided the best care I could expect. I am grateful to all of them for their assistance. In my opinion if you are reading this review, you’re probably going to need to go to an ER. You should go to this one.C Whidbee⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThe doctors, nurses and staff took great care of my granddaugther when she was being treated for pnemonia and a viral infection. They kept us really informed throughout her entire care period.Darlene French⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedToday I had procedure in Radiology. The radiology tech, Ruth, was great! Very personable, explained everything to me, helped me feel comfortable. She even offered me a warm blanket if I got cold. She was the best of all I’ve had procedures with in that department.Gantney Brown⭐️⭐️I was at vidant Emergency with my sister they did not have enough room so they allowed her to lay on the floor. The checkiNg deck people are rude I asked for change for a 5 so I could go to the vending machine. The lady replied ” Do it look like we have change up here” I said well “the card thing did not work” her reply was “that is a vending machine.” She could have at least told me where to find change or simply replied I do not have change, but thank the Lord for some patients that was kind enough to make change for me. I pray that Vidant can get more room for patients so they will not have to lay on the floor or sit in pain long. For ForBeing charged close to $2,000 dollars for 2 visits. The second visit was more than the first and I only went in for a test that I could got for free. I am very upset to place that suppose to help people but only for those with insurance. The They overcharged way to much. Vidant I am very upset with you. I barely make enough for myself. People know that if you have no unsurance the hospital will try to screw you over. They do this by having discount with insurances and use a secret billing system”chargemaster” to get you to pay the most.Melanie MooreVidant e.r. front desk personnel and hospitality lady is all unprofessional. They have no compassion for patients & are very rude. My family was in there and the experience was negative we even told charge nurse about our issues and she seemed to not care either. When people are not feeling well they do not feel like dealing with the extra rudeness from these individuals.Brendan AguileraWent in for the pain I have in my knee waited for 5.5 hrs before they took me back waited another 2 hrs for the doctor (Jacques Emmanuel Denis, MD) to come in and look at my knee for a 3 minutes for him to tell me he wanted to do xrays which they already did. Clearly they dont communicate with each other he left to go “view” the xrays an hour later the supervising doctor (Susan Miller, MD) came to tell me that they basically cant tell me why my knee is hurting without an MRI which they dont do in the ER so I need to go elsewhere but to stay off my leg as I my make it worse. Obviously they dont care about the patients they are just more concerned about turnover or maybe they just dont know how to treat someone in pain without telling someone to go elsewhereGinger Garrou⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI had a wonderful experience when visiting the ER. I was treating kindly and with respect from the moment I arrived. They even moved me to the pediatric ER so that I could be seen quickly. Within an hour I had an X-ray and been seen by a dr. The nurses were also wonderful! When I returned from radiology, the ortho dr was waiting for me and assisted me promptly. I felt that the care was exceptional. Thank you to all the staff for being so helpful and compassionate.Angela SmithI can not understand how the ED department can make a patient sit and wait 7 hours before being seen. It boggles my mind. In all the years I have gone to ERs this one is one of the worse. I have insurance and I have to sit for 7hours. I have watched people get up and leave because they are not getting the care they need. Also being called out of turn as my family member sits in pain. Just so wrong. They should take a hard look at there ED department and change things.**Mocha **The wait is off the charts ridiculous. If its close to shift change, prepare for an extra hour before you are seen. The medical treatment and care from the physicians has fell tremendously over the years and all this place cares about is money; not its patients. The doctors are getting younger and aren’t able to properly diagnose people while everyone else is walking around laughing about a posted video or lunch. I wouldn’t recommend this so called hospital to anyone I actually cared about. If I could give a negative I wouldKylie ThomasJust an overall horrible experience. Waited 8 hours for an ultrasound and nurses acted as if they didn’t care. Had to travel 3.5 hours back to my hometown just to visit a different hospital.TaylorI don’t like that the sink in a relative room I am visiting is still filthy. I DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW IF A HOSPITAL IS SUPPOSED TO BE SANITIZED THIS TASK IS NOT DONE. IT just makes me question if the rest of the room is being cleaned too (not to mention hands).Get it together before someone gets staph.G. C.They get 2 only because the nurse was nice. Wait times are inhumane especially when the place isn’t even crowded. Was told I going to have a CT scan and then an ultrasound since I was suffering a massive gallbladder attack due to my previously diagnosed gallbladder disease. After waiting 8 hours with only minimum pain killer and anti-nasea medicine the ER doctor tells me there is nothing wrong with my gallbladder and it’s just enteritis so he’s discharging me. No ultrasound, no follow up, still in pain. Sure, all the other doctors I’ve seen over the past year and all the other test results must be wrong and the ER doctor knows what’s up. Completely unprofessional and absurd. Luckily I already have a surgical consultation to remove my gallbladder. Very bad care. UPDATE:. My surgeon inferred the ER doctor was incompetent and that I displayed all the signs of classic massive gallbladder attack. Also said he should have done an ultrasound. Scheduled me for gallbladder removal next Thursday. Thanks Vidant Emergency Room for nothing. Horrible place and incompetent care. Revising rating down to one.Jordan ClarkeI arrived at 6 am for an anxiety attack and was helped promptly by medical professionals who were kind, caring and personable that really put my anxiety at ease. It is almost impossible to find mental health care on short notice so you have to use the ER or doctors at urgent care as a bridge to get you through. I waited till 12 (6hours) to see the psychiatrist. Absolutely horrible demeanor, looking at me like a number not a person. Just gives me a piece of paper and walks out the door. No medicine, no help of any other sort. For me that was a disaster. Now I’m about to have another panick attack, in a weird place waiting to be assessed and no idea when I’ll get the care I need NOW. So I guess I’ll just end up going back to the ER over and over till a psychiatrist can see me. So I went to the referral that the psychiatrist gave me and now guess what!? I’m back at the hospital because I’m still having major anxiety issues. I can’t make it 2 days for them to get me in to psychiatry. How hard is it to prescribe medicine for 2 DAYS!!! Now they say they will admit me again but then just discharge me again. I want to be helped PLEASE!!!!Tyler EnglishWas first in line with 4 to 5 people behind me. Now I’m the last one in the waiting room in pain and have a fevee andand puk. This place sucks.North EastFull of corruption , racist staff One year this great institution was ranked one of the worst in the country It was on the shameful list of 10 Not a single person was fired The administration had the audacity to put a cold face on TV to attack the ranking and the organization who did it Group of idiots run this place Racist rednecks have no progressive mentality They act like mobs and run the Hospital which has a great potential as a dark market Under the table operation They act suspicious Ring of corrupt insecure thieves They act professional but if u work with them you realize their work ethics got flushed down the toilet a while ago Go to Raleigh I know staff nurses and employees who take their loved ones to Raleigh as they don’t trust the stupid physicians they work with Really stupid peopleAlyssa Howell⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedSpoke with Nicole from billing this morning. She was wonderful. Thank you for all of your help!Dorian SlaneA close friend of mine , who is the son of a war hero, nearly died in one of this hospital system’s facilities, and now they have the audacity to demand he pay his out of pocket costs! We’re calling on all Veterans and their families to boycott this system, litigate (use out of state attorneys who have reciprocity in NC), write letters to the editor, reach out to the assignment desks of all local and national broadcast media, blog, post, share posts, contact our two senators to call for a full scale congressional inquiry into the appalling quality of this organization’s patient care and finally, tell your friends, neighbors, co-workers. Don’t let the bad guys win. FIGHT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DriADaDiVA’s World Of FunThe wait is freaking ridiculous. They need to make it bigger I guess cause all I hear is they waiting on beds.I understand they go by severity and there is an outpatient ED. But what if they are the ones that brought you to this place. I didn’t even want to come here in the first place but I think my fiancé has a pinched nerve or something and can barely walk.Jimmy KimWithout going into details, let me just say, after 4 hours of wait in emergency room, I took a taxi from Greenville to UNC Chapel Hill emergency room because I just couldn’t stand their total incompetence. And they still had the audacity to charge me after that!!!! Even if I had life threatening injuries, I will NOT set foot back into their so called ‘hospital’.Keyla Thompson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy newborn and I received amazing care by all staff.Tamara EbronI cannot believe how this Hospital treats people. All the money they get from ECU, constantly building on to this Hospital and you treat emergency room patients as if they are nothing. I myself personally have sat in this emergency room twice for 4 to 5 hours to only be seen by a doctor for 2 seconds given Tylenol and exscorted out the door. I have literally watched one patient in such pain she could not stop moving in the wheelchair. I literally watch this patient wiggling from so much pain and crying for almost four hours. Myself, barely able to breathe and scared that I would stop breathing at any second had to sit there and watch while suffering myself. This last visit had me thinking, if someone was to just die in this waiting room. what would they do, continue making them wait in the lobby. I’m pretty sure this has happened. something that could have been prevented. if Vidant even cared about their patients rich or poor they would stop sitting these patients in the waiting room to suffer for hours at a time . I’m extremely upset because not only did this happen to me once but twice and from the reviews I see that it happens often. Since I know what to expect from this hospital, and you’re going to have to wait, take your chances with WakeMed in Raleigh that’s what I’m doing from now on. if I can make it an hour away I will have someone take me an hour away. I will never go back to this Hospital, not even for a doctor visits. I’m through with Vidant and all branches of Vidant.Mike Shugart⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Great service and care by all staff. Security even jump started my vehicle after my visit. 2-17-2017: crazy long wait. Nice nurse but suggestion…don’t go on the weekend unless you have to and are bleeding, projectile vomiting, or unconscious.Shay WilsonIf I could give this ER Dept. a negative 0, I would. This place is Un-sanitary, my sister’s nurse was Un- knowledgeable and the rest of the staff was just as bad. I saw a patient become so frustrated with the level of service, she threatened to beat the resident on duty along with a few nurses, she was thrown out but I can’t deny,,, I understand why she behaved in such a manner,,,. My sister had numerous test preformed, and some of the same test repeated without being informed of the results and why they needed to be repeated. My sister arrived by ambulance around 430 in the afternoon, dehydrated. An IV was finally placed in her arm 1100 that night, fluids was finally given around 2am, we were told repeatedly that she was dehydrated,, why in the world would you wait so long to push fluids!!!! We asked several times to speak with the Dr… 3:38 am the Dr still hasn’t shown… Praying another emergency doesn’t arise but if it does she’ll take her chances at another facility. Tri-Care will be billed for nothing!!!!!
