Before you go to West Florida Hospital, you may want to know what the people who have already gone to this Pensacola emergency room think.
Bekah Mahoney⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI’ve visited West Florida many times for Panhandle Vascular and once for the ER. Each time has been a great experience. The staff during my visit to the ER were very cheerful and helped to distract me with conversation. My visits to Panhandle Vascular have always been straightforward. Dr. Tucker and his staff work efficiently with a bit of humor to keep things light. Working with such an agreeable, competent staff makes unpleasant procedures more bearable.kari christie⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedFantastic nursing staff from surgery recovery to in room care. Rory is one of the very best nurses I have ever had and my night nurse Chelsea was out of this world. Dr. Wolff is my neurosurgeon and has moved from Secred Heart hospital to West Florida. He is the very best neurosurgeon around. Was apprehensive because I was not familiar with the hospital but turned out to be the very best hospital stay I have ever had. Thank you West Florida Hospital team for making a tough time as easy as possible!!!jennifer tebaldi⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMy son Kenneth was admitted 7 days ago with multiple embolism in the lung to the 4 th floor . He has Autism and can be a bit difficult. I’m absolutely amazed with the patience and care we received here . All the nurses were absolutely outstanding so were the doctors. We received excellent care . I especially want to thank the housekeeping staff for doing excellent work and especially Belinda who did an outstanding job. We are ready to return home to Alabama. Thank west Florida hospital Pensacola.Jason Ward⭐️⭐️⭐️While staff is courteous and polite they are also reluctant to do much. My loved one has been here two days now and while here with them I’ve witnessed the other patient in her room ask for extended periods of time for help getting onto the bedside toilet before anyone would come if anyone did at all. I’ve witnessed family members have to get a doctor to help with the same issue on another section of the second floor. A doctor helping a patient to the toilet? Where are the nurses? Huddled in the nurses station, in groups along the corridor (hopefully discussing work related topics), or just no where to be found. Granted most nurses are excellent at their job, but there is a few nurses and a lot of techs that are not giving this hospital a good reputation at the moment. Current excuse for this is that they have merged staff from two floors to keep those that work on another floor that is under construction working. So more employees in a specific area should equate to better patient care not worse. And to get discharged is more monotonous than watching paint dry. Still 6 hrs and counting currently at 4:40 p.m. since we were told my loved one could leave. But when asked every couple of hours we get the same we’re working on it spill. Bottom line is that it’s a quality facility with the potential to be the best around if they implement some plan to ensure the staff that interacts with patients the most (nurses and techs) are representing the hospital and themselves at a higher standard than they currently are.Local Detail KingThe lady in pavilion has the most unprofessional attitude as if she not happy with her job. Really thread to go threw there when she at that desk. Make your day go from being happy to being bad day.D CNevermind the original 5 star review I wrote thanking you. That was before I became aware of your negligence or lack of accurate communications which as a result, caused a more serious issue over the course of 3 visits now. Also, you carelessly prescribed meds that your records clearly state that I’m allergic to which is not acceptable for patient safety either; the drugstore caught the errorsEbony Kemp⭐️⭐️⭐️I feel silly writing this but it just bothered me how the lady at the front desk asked me when my last period was I was unsure and her and another lady was joking around saying that I might be pregnant and that I was late because of the date I gave her. I just didn’t appreciate how that was a joke and it’s self. Knowing that I was not if you feel that she needed to give me a pee test just to give me one then you should’ve did so would’ve been the professional thing to do. Another thing is I had no idea that they ask for your personal information in front of everybody in the waiting room which made me kind of uncomfortable. I have been in emergency room before but with my sister in those kind of questions were asked when she was already pulled in the back with the doctor not in the waiting room in front of other patients.Joseph Oliver⭐️⭐️Small errors kill in hospitals. A clerical error killed their credibility in my eyes. During registration for treatment of my son’s injury, I provided my identification so that my information could be logged into the system. Now, all of my bills have the wrong name. West Florida Hospital refuses to change the name on my bills, which I cannot pay due to the wrong name being entered. I am reimbursed through a sharing program. They are concerned for the security of my information. I wish the same diligence was taken when copying my name from an ID card to a computer. How embarrassing. If they cannot enter in a name correctly from an ID into a computer – how can we expect them to correctly chart a patients information? Medication dose? Diagnosis? Double check your information when receiving care at West Florida Hospital.Buu-Tran Duong⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI’m a volunteer here. I cannot speak for the service, but I do know that the way that they treat their volunteers speaks a lot. I was given personal tours, I was allowed to ask questions, I was allowed to wear colorful socks and have a personality. They have integrity, but they’re not going to push things down my throat and tell me that the world will end if I make a mistake. I volunteered for a lot of hospitals, and I’ve enjoyed the hospitals attention to me the most. I’d like to volunteer at different departments to see what it’s like, while I’m still at school! Also, randomly, I met some of the robots that bring material around the hospital. They’re so cool!Greg LarsonWent to emergency center in Perdido, FL for flu like symptoms. After being seen, 2 x-rays, and 2 mouth swans, I was told they did not know want was wrong with me. I was given an Rx for cough syrup. Five weeks later I received a bill for $1700 for services ‘rendered’. I called billing and was told this was correct. I asked why am I paying my bill and someone else’s bill. I was that was incorrect. I informed the agent that the price for the x-rays and swabs were posted in my waiting area ($200 and $300) respectfully. I asked again were did I receive $1200 of care when I was told the staff could not figure out the illness. The agent told me again this the correct amount and I needed to pay. DO NOT GO TO A HCN (West Florida Hospital Network). You will be over billed as well as not helped (services rendered).Patricia Worley⭐️⭐️All the Drs. And nurses were great except one her name was Asley she was so mean to me I had to insist she be remove from my care. Also the cleaning person who came in my room all she did was take up thrash and pour stuff in toilet she did nothing else! And our food!!! My first meal after surgery was meatloaf with dark brown gravies it sat on a chair across the room for over an hour I finally asked for something to eat as and they tried to give me that! Totally the wrong thing for post surgery.the next meals where left out in the hall for hours until we asked for something to eat.I had to ask for peanut butter and crackers to eat or I wouldn’t have had anything! I was very shocked by West Florida hospital.I I thought they did better than this!!!Rene OlsenHorrible staff. I have seen 4 different doctors here (two ER visits and two dermatology visits) and a 3 out of 4 were the absolute worst and one of them wasn’t great but, given how awful the other three were, I can’t include her with them. The last visit I had was in the ER and am being charged over $900.00 for him to come in, be rude and tell me to take an over the counter pill. I saw him for less than two minutes. NO ONE is worth $1,000 for two minutes and you are either out of your mind if you think this is fair or someone profiting off of others illnesses. As for dermatology, not only are they rude and rush you but, haven’t a clue what they are doing. They believe that doing the same action over and over will bring different results and that’s just crazy. I will be taking my helth issues to a different hospital in town.Cindy Farley⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI was recently admitted to this hospital. During my stay, all of the nurses, techs, housekeeping and last but not least, the doctors were great!! I want to give a kudos to Tamara. A nurse on the 4th floor. She was so awesome!! That’s an understatement. Don’t get me wrong, the other nurses were great also. Tamara just touched my heart. I was being discharged, and I guess she was arriving for her shift, she saw me and made a point to stop and speak. There aren’t many people like that in the world today. I’m glad to say I had the opportunity to meet her. She was great!!! You all were. Thank youmichael lockwoodThis place is a joke!! I have no idea how they are still open. I’ve been in Pensacola my whole life and this is where you do NOT go for healthcare. Lose orders for labs every time! Not one single person in administration would take my call. What a joke!Dawn Vose⭐️⭐️If you go because they are an “in network” hospital be aware that once you are admitted you get visited by doctors that are out of network and your insurance won’t pay for them. You have to pay the whole bill for the doctors you did not even ask to seeRod Whiting⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedA recent experience with a family member cared for by the 5th Floor team was overwhelmingly positive. The nurses and other clinicians communicated instructions and care plans clearly. The room was always clean and meals were delivered on time and the orders were correct. We especially appreciated being able to have other family members join by phone the discussions with the doctors. It helped our family communicate updates to others.Billie Kelley⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedStaff very friendly and helpful..and are taking very good of my SonLaurie FownerIf you ever call make sure you say everything you need to say without pausing for and answer. Two different girl’s on same day just hung up. One couldn’t comprehend what I was saying so she just hung up. Another girl that answered when I called back told me where I could pick up my records and when I repeated the directions back she said yes and hung up Didn’t ask if I needed anything else or nothing. Not even a thank you, have a nice day, why are you bothering me. NothingnursegkWas seen in the ER department with a BP of 205/99. Low potassium and abnormal EKG They admitted me to observation around 1:30 am. Was not given any BP meds until 8 hours later. I had to ask someone to check my BP. Was told there would be a consult with Cardiologist, however the Physician making rounds canceled the consult. When discharged later that evening, my potassium was never rechecked nor was my BP take prior to discharge. I normally don’t write reviews, however felt it necessary on this one. Someone’s life may be at stake. Would not recommend this facilityDonielle DevriesWorst experience. Whole staff is rude. Nurses act like you being there is a nuisance to them. First, took my mother to the ER, there was a small puddle on the floor when we walked in. The nurse comes out, rudely asks us what’s on the floor when I said it was there when we walked in she starts muttering things under her breath shaking her head like we put the puddle on the floor! The same nurse comes out asking questions and rolling her eyes at every answer. That nurse disappears shortly after. A different nurse calls us to check in. My mother was in a wheelchair which I was struggling to push and another patient had to come help me. Aren’t the nurses paid to do things like this? Things like this continued on our whole visit. My mother has a terminal disease and for well bodied nurses to be treating sick people like this is ridiculous. I understand you go through a lot, but your patients are going through more. Get it together because you all suck.Shaneatha Arnold⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI never have a problem here west Florida will always be my go to care facility and I will always recommend themFrank Black⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedHad Doctor look at hand . Great visit.Gert KMy son passed at this hospital. I live Alabama had communication with him until he was becoming confused had to go on mask help him lose CO2. I called spoke to nurse told he was doing better. I couldn’t contact him nurse informed me he was sedated. I called again few hours told he was moved ICU. I was told i need PIN code for any information. I told nurse i live Birmingham, but was on my way. I told nurse i was his mother. Nurse kept saying we trying contact his wife. I repeatedly told her he was not married. I rush to Florida took me 4.5 hours. When i get there not one person told me he was passing. I asked several questions to no avail. I got call from woman he was visiting in Florida to rush back to hospital i had gotten room next to hospital. So i called to ICU they told me we spoke to his wife. I said he had no wife im his mom. When i arrived he had passed. I am not sure how policy works , but the communication here is terrible. I have never felt so disrespected. After he passed the woman he lived with was asked in my presence what was her relationship with him she said a friend. My question is can anyone present themselves as a wife and mom then gets totally disrespected. I did. I lost my son on 4/21/19 Easter ,and i have lots of unanswered questions.HaleyThis hospital turns away police officers in uniform who require emergency care because apparently police make the staff “uncomfortable.” And then the administration tells the employees not to discuss the matter, instead of addressing the fact that it is ILLEGAL to turn away someone in need of emergency medical assistance. Do not go to this hospital, go to a hospital that cares about EVERYONE.Tammy Rothe⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This hospital has treated almost all of my family. Grandfather, grandmother, my mother just passed away there a little more than a year ago. Now my dad is in there. He was just there for 3 weeks in December. Now last time they had no problem requesting a private room for him so I could stay as he is my only parent left. This time they have stuck him in a double room & we have requested as the nurse SAID she did also. Still waiting. He has a case worker. I know it’s the weekend. I really hope I don’t have to go up there & be rude today to get some action. They usually treat us really well but for the last 2 days have dropped the ball. We will see if they keep this 4 star rating or I have to change it.Tymira McCall BellDefinitely the worse hospital I have had to let my son be admitted into. He’s a diabetic and they didn’t mention that for his meals. They didn’t even order him any medicine he had to use his own insulin. When it came down to his chair tube in his button they repeated over and over the didn’t have the supplies to do the job so we wasted a day there and they still didn’t get the supplies he needed the next day. He was in for an in house clean out and they started everything after 11 which had him as well as myself up til 5 AM. I had to clean him and his room while the PCT did nothing I mean nothing I went to get the sheets the towels he needed. At 11 years old they made him feel as if he was a burden to them and he said momma please don’t bring me back here and that’s sad to hear for your child to feel as if he was mistreated especially while sick. If he’s not discharged tomorrow I will definitely request for him to be discharged and before his doctor sends him here we will travel to a Birmingham. This is definitely the worse hospital ever. UPDATE: I just told the nurse be sure to check on my son just in case I dozed off so he don’t be laying in poop being that he has tube in his throat he can’t speak loud enough for me to hear if I’m sleep ;she replies “we have a lot of patients tonight I’ll be in another patient room but I’ll try “ Never again and tomorrow I will tell his doctor he need to be transferred. This hospital is definitely a disgraceLisa Young⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI am very grateful to this hospital saving my sister!Dacia SykesEvery time I come to this hospital parking is a joke. No security to stop people from parking in no parking zones or at the side of the road. Last visit someone parked in the eye institute’s curbside which states NO parking. They were there the whole time my dad had his appointment and were never told to move! I was parked in a parking spot and could see them clearly. Your patient transport carriers need to learn the right of way instead of thinking they can just cut you off. Surprised no one has hit them yet. Also quit making all most all of the parking valet it is a hospital not a 5 star hotel!June Simpson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedI want to recognize a very special nurse technician that we had the privilege of meeting on the 4th floor while my dad was admitted for a fall. “Chris”! Such a kind, humble, helpful person! Thank You! Anyone that has the privilege of meeting him or working with him, please give him a high five! You do not meet many people that do the job he does with such a kind heart!gacha qeen_64I had my grandchild have to be carried out by her father because they wouldnt let her stay the night im mad about this if 0 was an answer thats what I would put and she hit her back whike doing so!Mindfulness, Mantras, Meditation and MoodsBecause I am appreciative for the good care that I have received here and I respect West Florida Hospital, especially doctors and nurses for their work I have for years now avoided giving any review due to the deterioration of the quality of care here, but not today. Today, I am in pain and finally just fed up. Today I came to the ER for excruciating tooth pain. Pain in my ear, jaw, face, eye, headache and feeling “fluish” all because of a tooth that has been filled a few years ago, but now there’s some issue again. I can not even chew on the other side. That and the fact that the otc naproxen sodium is lending minimal relief…. just taking the edge off and I can’t chew anything- anyway. So, I come to ER in pain about half an hour prior to having taken the pills. I am quickly given a prescription for amoxicillin, which is what I hoped for and expected. I am instructed to continue what I’ve been taking along with the amoxicillin. I expected this, and left happy. I wasn’t even there a good 40 mins. However, by the time I filled prescription, got home, took the amox, tried to eat, I was in horrible pain. I didn’t want to take the pain relief I had, because I had exceeded the recommended amount with little relief. So, I called the ER, and explained that I just left there about 3 hrs ago, gave my info, explained situation and tell how I’m in horrible pain now, was in some pain when there as I expressed then, haven’t eaten because the pain won’t allow and I’ve on now day two exceeded the recommended amount of the otc naproxen sodium that I got. I asked if he could give me something for my pain like Motrin. I get it’s virtually the same. He expressed that the highest dosage that they prescribe is 800mg. I said I know and asked if he can give me that and again explained how and why I need something else. He repeats himself. I get annoyed, and tell him I know and I don’t understand why he keeps telling the highest they prescribe is 800mg. Like please do! He tells me that I can take up to 800mg of the naproxen. Well, that exceeds the recommended amount on the bottle. He insists that I can. I explain that I’ve been taking two at a time 3-6x a day and I am only supposed to have 3 within a 24 hr period. This is day 2. I get little relief and even that starts to wear off before the 12 hrs. that it is supposed to help. I just wanted a pill that I can take 1x daily that actually relieves my pain. I know that they usually prescribed 800 Motrin’s and it works instantly and is long lasting and knocks the pain out and one mmaaaaaaybe two pills in the day is all I need vs the 5 naproxen sodium pills that I have a had so far today. I took two before I went to the ER and 3 when I got off the phone with the clueless nurse. After I called the nurse line and was advised properly to follow the instructions of the pills that I am taking and on the discharge sheet! I expected that sound advise. She advises me once the amox kicks in it’ll help with the pain. Yep, she’s right, I know because that’s been my experience. Thing is I was in bad pain now and not able to function in my household with a autistic child. Tooth pain is horrendous. I didn’t want to be putting those pills in my body to begin with let alone exceeding the recommended dosage! It seems to me good medical practice to give me a prescription for the Motrin! I’m not asking for oxy or crack for gods sake. Anyway, I’ve had quite a few situations like this with West Florida and it’s so insensitive, thoughtless, even irresponsible. Dosages exist for a reason. If I exceed the dosage with little relief why wouldn’t you prescribe me a pill that does relieve me!? End result I hung up the phone prayed, in even more pain and took 3 naproxen sodium at once. Right now I can function! I can chew, but there is a soreness. That’s better. I manage, but it sure goes to show that I needed something else and I’ll have to take well over the 3 pills recommend dosage in a 24 hr period just to get good relief, but not total relief. Something is wrong with that. Let me tell you it’s cruel too.Gina Rhoda⭐️⭐️⭐️Surgery yesterday went well. I’m here for another two/three days and it’s OK, not happy I have to share a room with someone, only 1 TV pointed the other way, med computer on my side, so someone always on my side. No privacy just uncomfortableTimothy Pratt⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWas there overnight. I was treated like a kinglaticia stallworthThis was my first visit and definitely will be my last. I came to visit and er patient and sat there and waited while all three nurses looked at me in ignorance there was another gentleman that walked up in urgency im assuming eventhough i only needed to see a patient like he did. Unfortunately they staff nurse named Mary Jane on her name tag still refused to approach me and went straight to the other gentleman with a total of three kids in one in my arms and also one on the way. I had to ask her to come and see what i needed(not to mention im standing directly in front of the ER WINDOW). I finally get a chance to tell her i was only here for a visitor when she prompted in monotone “well if you read the sign it says no children allowed”. This cold have been handled a lot better. I was not upset about the rules that was completely understood but did feel unappreciated and unwanted. I will never come back again.Charles Jurceka⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedClean, easy to park and enter. Home of good doctors.Heather JonesI have never been treated so poorly as I have in this center. I never saw my therapist more than 5 minutes per visit, they basically let “students” treat patients however they want with zero supervision. I was shown once how to do my exercises then, they either sat back and laugh at you with the other students or, disappear completely. They were so inexperienced that they injured me with a tens unit. When I complained and said “look I’m not trying to cause problems I just want my therapist to know if there are problems” I was told that was just the way I am. I have never been so mortified in my life. Keven is the worst physical therapist around the only time he shows concern is when he thinks he is going to get in trouble. I would avoid this place like the plague. I would literally rather trampoline naked in front of a crown then go back. Patients should not be abused in this way.Missy Stonecypher⭐️⭐️Dr. at the ER was short, curt and plain rude. He didn’t care his bed side manner was insulting. Don’t go there unless you have heart trouble, or anything emergency. Don’t go there if you have medicaid Durante could not care less that my insomnia and anxiety from not having a doctor. He’s a mean guy. The nurses were amazing. Hats off to all the staff with one exception .We’re all not drug seeking. I needed to sleep and my antidepressant he gave me 7 and said go to Lakeview .No problem but I’m disabled and cannot drive. I felt like he should have slapped me in the face.Rocky Rocks⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedMagnificent; superb.Barbara RichardsWanna know what the difference between Sacred Heart and W FL Hospital is? Sacred actually has one. W FL Hospital is RUTHLESS in their bill collection. Sacred Heart works with you, makes payment arrangements and gives hardship financial assistance and TIME to heal without the worry of the medical bills that come in shortly after treatment. Caring, loving people. W FL sends one of my family members, right before Christmas, on their FIRST notice to them, a threat of judgment unless a debt as recent as a few months, isn’t paid. MERRY CHRISTMAS! This was already from a collection agency!!! They had received no other bill prior to this. Just .. wow. If you can help it, DO NOT go to this hospital!Cindy WarrI was brought to this hospital by air flight from gulf coast medical for cardiac reasons, shortness of breath and swelling on my left side (clearly a concerning issue) at around midnight. I was released by 3 pm the following day. I never once seen a doctor. I was told because I couldn’t do a stress test (due to clostrophobia) they were sending me home without any other options to try to find the problem. I stayed in my street clothes for two days between both hospitals (never offered a gown) never got fluids or any of my regular medications I take daily. I was very upset with the lack of concern and treatment I received at this hospital. I have been a heart patient for several years and feel like the care I received was less than acceptable.Christina Echagarruga⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedWest Florida Hospital is outstanding! I am particularly impressed with the Nursing Staff. They are kind, attentive, and really know what they are doing! Special shout out to the pre-op nurses. I would certainly recommend this hospital to those in need.kali berrry⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅ ER RecommendedThank you for your excellent services!Shannon SmithFirst time at the hospital in Pensacola and was absolutely awful. They don’t care if the surgeon didn’t see you on the follow up, or your visit was a lazy surgeon who couldn’t check the xray. Now, I’ll have to live with it every time, I tie my shoe, thanks Lurate, Levitz, Booth.Anita MukherjeeIt is a worst hospital.
